Rev B boards are used in K2s with a serial number of 3000 or more. Also if your K2 is serial number 3000 or more, when you get to page 59, you should not do the Control Board wiring changes shown there. Those changes have already been embedded on the REV B board. Re: [Elecraft] K2 - "INFO 80 " problem
hello juliano, I'll put the single "080 info" Book of troubleshooting, if it can help you If you saw the message INFO 080, the I/O controller (IOC, RF-U1) or other auxBus device did not respond to messages from the main processor (MCU). Turn power OFF and back ON; if you hear some relays switching on power-up, the IOC may be OK, and the problem is likely to be with the AuxBus (081) If you do not hear any relays switching on power-up, your IOC (RF-U1) may be defective. Inspect U1 carefully to see if you have installed it backwards or if any pins are bent. Pull U1 out, check its pins, then re-install it, making sure all pins make good contact with the IC socket. Check the 4-MHz oscillator (075). Remove the bottom cover and verify that all pins of U1’s socket are soldered, as well as those of the 6V regulator (RF-U2), and U1’s 4 MHz oscillator (RF-Z5). With power ON, check all voltages associated with U1. You should see 6V at pins 1 and 20 at all times, even when the IOC is sleeping (not being accessed by the MCU). All the SSB filters should be aligned - AND - in many (most) K2s built in the last several years, the suggested settings for the SSB filters other than the OP1 BFOs do not work well. That is because the varactors have changed (the type has not changed, but the capacity range has increased - blame the manufacturer!). The result of this varactor variation is that the filter width displayed by the K2 is usually much more narrow than the actual width (not true for the OP1 filter which has no varactors). I do not know of any way to easily find the actual width of the filter other than using an audio spectrum analyzer like Spectrogram. 73, Don W3FPR On 5/20/2013 1:25 PM, Ralf Wilhelm wrote: > Hi, Christophe and Don, > > There is a point I don't understand: The K2 switches to "VFO below rx > frequency" on 15 and above (main manual page 85) thus resulting in sideband > "inversion". You should find a number penned in by hand. That is the number you need. It is the nearest 100 Hz increment that the crystals were matched to. The crystals are actually matched closer than that (I recall matched to 10 Hz), but that number is sufficient for setting the filter properly later in the alignment procedure. 73, Don W3FPR On 5/7/2013 4:04 PM, Christophe F8ACF-56 wrote: > Hello list, > > in manufacturing manual it says: > > Locate the envelope containing the matched SSB filter crystals (X1-X7). Hello list, in manufacturing manual it says: Locate the envelope containing the matched SSB filter crystals (X1-X7). On the outside of the envelope you'll find a calibration number that ranges between 3.2and 3.9. Record the number: __. When using CW mode, the K2 transmit frequency will be offset from the receive frequency by the amount of the sidetone pitch setting you have in the menu. If you are in CW normal, transmit will be lower, in CW reverse, it will be higher. There is no offset for SSB or RTTY modes - the transmitted carrier (suppressed) frequency will be the same as the receive carrier frequency. If you need assistance calibrating the K2 dial frequency, read the K2 Dial Calibration article on my website www.w3fpr.com. 73, Don W3FPR On 4/30/2013 8:38 AM, Christophe F8ACF-56 wrote: > Hello list, > > I want to know if I have a problem with my K2? > > listening to the tag "DK0WCY" it is on 10.144, off if I listen with the > display of 10,144 in "CW" is OK, if I put the filter "CW FL1" I have to flunk > my reception lower than 700 hz so: 10.143.3 MHz normal? > > I stalled the display as described in the manual listening WWW 10 mhz, the > whole procedure is well spend. > > I hear both the beacon on 14.100 in "CW" and even if I put the problem FL1 > and other > > K2 is OK to transmission anything I already reported some contacts what fun! > > I still KAF2 under construction and KNB2, KSB2, KPA100 build > > thank you for your help > > __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

If you are using that sincle wire probe that the manual instructs you to build, you will put the jumper on the two pins marked "EXT", but normally you will place it on the pins marked "INT" Note, if you have th ejumper on EXT and do not connect a voltage to the probe, you will see an occasional "LO BAT" display flashed. 73, Don W3FPR On 10/22/2012 6:26 AM, Christophe F8ACF-56 wrote: > hello all, > > control board on K2, there "P7" he must put the rider in a unique position to > test or not to wear? > > there is nothing to indicate on this jumper, so I would ask. > > during assembly > > K2 # 7369 > __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
