Yes Mike, I intended to mention,
I did see that PA transistor mod. Something about harmonics. 
I looked at the sheet and that mod was done on this one but thanks for 
mentioning it!!

Hello all,

Putting my, well cared for, K2 up for another good home.
Not using it enough and would like it to go to someone while it's still 
operating as designed.  Rated power out on all bands and a nice quite receiver.
Been trying to downsize over the past few years in anticipation of a move to a 
smaller place, maybe a condo. Also not wanting to leave items as a burden to my 
wife and family if something happens to me. Not 20yrs old anymore! Or even 60!!

I built this one in 2003 and shortly after, three other K2's for other people.
Adding it up over the years, I don't think it could have 5 hours of operating 
time. 95% receive.
I've also built a K1, KX1 and various other radios over the years beginning 
with Heathkits. Latest was the 4SQRP Club's Paraset, next the Penntek TR-35. 
All sold.

This K2 has all the options "except" the 100w amp, DSP filter and battery.
All firmware is up to date, however, there may be an update available for the 
SSB board and possibly an optional mod.
I don't use SSB, just CW. The option was available then and works fine.
The photo may look like the display lighting isn't working properly. However, 
the lighting I used washed it out. Proves I'm no photographer! Display is fine.
Kept In a covered/no pet, no smoke environment.
Photos can be seen at "HAMSLIST.COM."

You also get the K60XV transverter option which includes 60M.
I would rate this K2/10 overall, nearly a 10. One small scratch on the top rear 
(photo).

[Elecraft] Attempted KX2 purchase update!! False Alarm!!

Hi all,
Now that I've got all the facts..or most.Scam was much to strong a word 
in referencing why didn't receive a response from Doug, K7CUU, after I mailed 
and then emailed him a photo of my KX2 payment check on June 19th. The check 
still hadn't arrived at his location as of the 24th. He doesn't use PayPal.
Back and fourth emails were working fine last week. We had, at least, six 
overall amd stopped on June 19th.
During this "no contact" period, I felt I had no choice but to put a stop 
payment on the check.

I finally called him on the phone today. I didn't call earlier since I was very 
concerned that his health may have taken a turn for the worst and I didn't want 
to burden his wife with an additional problem if that were the case.

So, bottom line, my apologies to Doug, K7CUU for me thinking the worst.

[Elecraft] Attempted KX2 purchase!

I made contact with a K7CUU who, apparently on May 22, was selling a KX2, on 
this forum, with several accessories. 
I had several days of back and forth email communication prior to me mailing a 
check on June 19th.
I included a photo of the check and envelope in an email on the 19th.
After that; all email communication ended!! A follow up email the next day, 
again, yielded, no response. Tuesday, Wednesday and up to Thursday evening, 
nothing.
It was then I called the bank and put a "stop payment" on the check.
A word to the wise. "Forewarned is Forearmed."
Per QRZ, his wife is also a ham operator. The ad said he was ill, however, if 
that's the case I would hope she would have equal knowledge of his selling and 
respond accordingly.

KX3 Kit, S/N 7662. From about 2015.

Includes:
KXFL3- Dual Passband Roofing Filter Kit.
KXAT3- 20W Auto Antenna Tuner Kit.
KXUSB cable.
A grounded anti static mat and wrist strap should be used to assemble this!

Was intended as a backup for an existing/assembled KX3 but never used. Box was 
only opened to take pictures; which I will send on request.
Elecraft price for all is $1,809.85 but, as we know, the KX3 itself is on back 
order.

Note: I don't know if things have changed with the new kits but back then 
people were driving the screws in to hard while attaching the battery case and 
shorting out the main board! Nylon screws would be safer.

[Elecraft] KPXA-100 & K2 Integration?

Hello again all,
Can the KPXA-100 be fully integrated with the K2? Full QSK and so on? Appears 
to be mostly for the KX3 and KX2.
My 2003 K2 has all the options.

I can't believe Elecraft discontinued the 100w amp for the K2. What do have 
then?
A full featured, basically, QRP radio! These little 5 watt jobs are 1/8th the 
size but maybe w/o all the bands and there all over the place for sale.

Should have bought the KPA-100 back then but the $$ weren't there!!
Anybody has one up for salelet me know

[Elecraft] K3 Filter Attenuation Gain Make Up

I recently upgraded to the new Synthesizers for my ancient K3 #951. 

I have 5 Pole 2.7s in both receivers, but multiple 8 Pole narrower filters as 
well as a 5 pole 200Hz that always was hard to listen to.  I read through the 
manual and Fred’s excellent K3 book and found that higher gain was not 
recommended.  I had 4dB or more gain on a few filters especially narrow CW.  I 
decided to experiment with lower gain settings. 

When I reduced the gain to 2-3 dB the “ringing” in the narrow filters reduced a 
LOT!  

That coupled with the new Synths has made the old K3 come to life all over 
again.  

It is truly amazing in pileups. Individual signals just pop out of the mess.  

Thanks to Howard at Elecraft for digging up old invoices with factory mods and 
updates.

And thanks to Elecraft for engineering such an amazing upgrade to an old radio!
