I can fully agree and confirm this! My daughter studies in Tel Aviv and
everytime I am going to visit here, I take my KX2 with me. Even with El
Al there is no issue at all to take it on board as carry on.

The ONLY issue I have... my backpack used as carry-on contains the KX2,
a X230 Laptop, a Kindle and my D300 (incl. 16-85mm lens)... this needs
to be unpacked before and packed again after the x-ray machine... and it
is quite heavy ;-)

Sampling SDR Manuals and Other Materials" and the 4th entry should be
the manual you're looking for as PDF.

That would really be a BIG issue, I hope this is not really true!


My 3 rules:

1.  If my $100.00 built from scratch and spare parts radio successfully 
communicates with your state of the art shack, my hobby has succeeded.

2.  Everybody has an opinion and all of them are correct, but mine is more 
correct for me than yours.

3.  There is very little on this board about the KX2 so it must be the closest 
to perfect radio out there Elecraft has designed.  That is why I own one.


*lol* For info about the KX2 you might check the "Elecraft-KX" distro,
but even there... not much to say.

As a KX2 user myself I can only fully agree to your point 3, though I
have to admit, that my "new" K3 (sn 33xx) is also a very nice toy and I
am slowly getting used to it.


Is the true spirit of the “Elmer” part of your hobby?


I wouldn't be where I am without my fellow OMs that are guiding and
leading me to success... still a way to go, but... that's part of the
game, isn't it?

Check, that you did not swap + and - of the power cable! Unfortunately
this happened once to me and this way I "desoldered" D11 and almost
desoldered D12 off of the KPA3 (luckily both diodes survived this
treatment and the K3 worked after putting them back in place again)

What happens if you remove the KPA3, does the K3 power on then?

this is another KX2 user ;-)
I bought mine last year and did not really use it regularly so far, just
a bit listening on the bands, but that should change very soon.
Today a fellow OM (also owner of a KX2) helped me to configure WSJT-X
and I had my first FT8 QSO with my KX2. But my main use will be SSB...
until I manage to be good enough in CW to be on air.

[Elecraft] Can I use an XV144 Transverter with my KX2?

Merry Christmas everyone, hope you have received some nice presents ;-)

Maybe a silly question, but I didn't find anything in the manual and
would like to be on the safe side. I may be able to purchase a used
XV144 Transverter and would be interested in using it with my KX2 (only
in my shack at home). There needs to be some dip switch settings done
before using the Transverter, but as the manual is only mentioning the
K2 and K3, I am not sure on whether using K3 settings are appropriate or
whether I need to use another setting (and which one).

Thanks for any advice on this, so I can decide on whether I'll buy the
XV144 or not.

As an owner of a KX2... IF there is something needed at all, then yes,
it would be the 70cm/2M option.
So far, the KX2 and any Anytone 878 do the job in combination.
