Re: [Elecraft] AX-1/K-2/K-1
I used the AX1 with my K1 on November 15th chasing a SOTA activator in IL, I’m in FL. The AX1 was setup inside a screened in porch on a table top tripod, the K1 was set to 7 watts and tuned up on 20m at 1.1 swr. We made the contact, he gave me 339 RST, I was very surprised and impressed ! The ATU in the K1 did its job with the AX1 just fine. I’ve only used 20m so far. [Elecraft] AX1 antenna
Received my AX1 yesterday, so small but a gorgeous piece of engineering !! Put it to the test this morning...I had just made a Q on 20m with Keith, KR7RK doing a SOTA activation from IL with my KX3 @ 80w, I’m in FL. I set up my K1 and new AX1 antenna with a table top tripod inside my screened in porch. Keith was still calling CQ SOTA, I called and he returned my call. The K1 was set at 7 watts, the antenna tuned up 1.1 swr. I was amazed, it really worked !! Thanks for another great piece of Elecraft gear Wayne and Eric, you guys have another winner here !! Re: [Elecraft] [KX3] Re: AX1 Order Page Up but Broken?
I have to agree with Buddy 100% !!! I’ve owned Elecraft radios for almost 10 years now, it’s all I own !! I had my KX3 two weeks (s/n 0045) and a glitch appeared, couldn’t use the radio. I emailed Elecraft on a Sunday night around 10pm, not expecting to hear from them til Monday morning. I got an email less than half an hour later, from Wayne no less! He said he’d be on it first thing Monday morning and let me know. He emailed me Tuesday morning and had me call him later, he spent an hour on the phone helping me reboot the KX3 ! That was April 2012, the KX3 has operated just fine since than ! That left a lasting impression on me to this day, Wayne and Eric and the crew at Elecraft are the best IMHO !! Re: [Elecraft] KX2 Matching Power Amplifier
I've been using my old HF-PACKER amp I've had about 7 yrs with the KX2. 2 watts in gives me 40watts out for portable ops here in Florida. I use a Buddipole 5Ah battery for the amp and the internal battery in the KX2. I was on the air every day for almost a week at Flamingo in the Everglades last month chasing SOTA activators, never ran either battery down. Virgil has a new mini HF-packer amp for SOTA activators out now, 35/40 watts out on battery. I would buy an Elecraft small amp if they ever produced one ! [Elecraft] Amp/tuner
Well I for one am disappointed about the Oct delivery dates, I was looking forward to getting my amp this next week. Good things come to those who wait my mother always told me...but please hurry Wayne and Eric !! Drinking the Kool-Aide came from the deaths of almost 900 people who were followers of Jim Jones, he was a paranoid religious fanatic who convinced his follower's to drink the poisoned Kool-Aide and meet their maker at their compound in Guyana in the later 70's ! And they all followed him to their deaths ! [Elecraft] I wish Elecraft would make this radio
I agree with Barry, I own both the KX3 and KX1 (and K2), an updated KX1 would be great ! I love the little KX1 and would never sell it. And it does go with me more often on camping/kayak trips than the KX3 does. [Elecraft] KX1 power supply
I've been running my KX1 from home with the nomal 13.8 v and get right at 3 watts out. When I put 14.9 v (max output from the pwr supply), I'll get 4.1 watts out of the KX1. A 1 watt increase, not a lot of difference I know, but every little bit helps. Here's the question, does it, or will it hurt the KX1 in the long run, running 14.9 volts into the radio, I know the manual says 14 v. Does that .9 v make any difference to the PA, or should I just stick to my 13.8 v and 3 watts ?? I love the little radio, even thou I have the KX3, and don't want to hurt it ! It's just so simple and easy to operate, and FUN !! (I'll never get rid of it !!) I received my new K2 yesterday-s/n 6576 from Elecraft! Iam no electrical or electronics engineer,I built some kits as youngster, and a few more the last few years(very simple and basic).I can solder, and read directions,so I figure that's half the battle in building the K2!It looks a little overwhelming at this point, but I think Iam ready to tackle this BIG project!Hopefully,I won't run into any problems, but I know where to turn if I do.I'll let everyone know when its up and running.73 de Ed N7EDK Marana,AZ. ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. [Elecraft] New K2 owner.
Hi everyone, well I made a wish come true-found a K2,s/n5801 on ebay Fri for $600.00!It's a bare bones CW model,so I plan to add SSB,160 and 60 meters,ATU,etc.I think I've made a good purchase here, from all my research here and other sites, this should be a great radio for a long time to come! Can't wait to recieve it now and get started, thanks for all the help from this thread.I also plan to keep it QRP,its the only way to go!!73 de Ed, N7EDK, Marana,Az. ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. [Elecraft] Elecraft Honchos!!
Steve, the little VW was championed by Porsche himself,Hitler was looking for a small car for the masses in Germany. He liked what Porsche had come up with, and gave him the means to produce the wonderful little car.I take offense when people call it Hitler's car,it's Porsche's car,100%!I've owned over 30 + VW models since the late 60's,I can't imagine life without a VW in my driveway! My current one is a 1971 Camper,or Westy.A little bit off the thread subject, but I love the Elecraft line also, not silly really!73's de Ed N7EDK ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
