Re: [Elecraft] P3 wireles keyboard
Here's the list of keyboards supported in conjunction with the PX3 and P3SVGA, http://www.elecraft.com/manual/px3_keyboard_list_A3.pdf For some reason, the file name and title suggests this list is specific to the PX3, but the list itself states, "Keyboards listed were available when this list was created and have been tested with the PX3/P3SVGA" This is a (very) small sample of the supported keyboards. The key is "2.4 GHz wireless" and NOT "bluetooth". I wouldn't be surprised that an Apple keyboard does not work. 73's Joe Stone KF5WBO -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/P3-wireles-keyboard-tp7619928p7619933.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

USB keyboard works perfectly with P3 SVGA -- my issue is that I have to uplug/plug the USB connection each time I power up the K3/P3 to initialize the keyboard, otherwise it is not sensed by the P3. Re: [Elecraft] P3 USB Keyboard
Hi Tom, It sounds like your keyboard is not a PC bios type keyboard. The USB keyboard interface on the SVGA only works with this type of keyboard. Most PC USB keyboards are this type and will work with the P3/SVGA. I am currently using a wireless Logitech K360 which works great. Unfortunately due to the sheer number of various keyboards on the market it's impossible for us to test every single one. My advice would be to try another keyboard. 73, Paul -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/P3-USB-Keyboard-tp7584201p7584206.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Elecraft] P3 USB Keyboard
A BIOS-based keyboard doesn't take any special device driver, and it is recognized by the BIOS at the time a PC boots up (rather than later, after its device driver is loaded by the operating system). The P3 requires this type of keyboard because it isn't designed to support non-mainstream I/O devices via drivers - which it can't load or use. There are VERY few non-BIOS keyboards out there. For some reason, people keep returning them or using them for target practice. Maybe this has something to do with the fact that this type of keyboard cannot be used to configure the BIOS itself, at boot time. Paul's recommendation of the Logitch K360 wireless keyboard is well put. That is what I use here. 73, matt W6NIA On Thu, 13 Feb 2014 20:16:24 -0700, you wrote: I have a USB keyboard that I use with my WIN XP laptop that works just fine with the laptop but my P3 doesn't recognize the keyboard. Re: [Elecraft] P3/SVGA Keyboard
Yep, already done that. All but the full wave 40M loop are fairly isolated, out over the garage area. The 40M loop is about 9' over my head when at the operating position and that was a bit of a concern. Duty cycle of course enters into the equation and that sorta brought things down well into the safe level for even 500w, so I added the safety factor of driving the KPA500 at 10W yielding approximately 300 W at the antenna. That accomplishes a couple of things, one being not have to re-purchase antenna tuners :-)) (I have tuners at the feed points of the various antennas, more efficient that way.) I need to issue a correction for a statement I made in an earlier post concerning the USB Keyboard, P3, and JT65. Re: [Elecraft] P3 SVGA Keyboard
Rick, why would expanding to PSK63 require access to a PC? I would assume there is more than enough signal processing within the P3 and K3 to deal with that -- but maybe that wasn't the original intent (to do more work in the P3). Clearly if an external PC is required that would defeat the purpose (so that might rule out Olivia, or JT65). And using just the P3 display as the decode area, in addition to the external display would be ideal (don't need a bigger display if you don't want one). Hi Don, There is no additional signal processing being done on the P3/SVGA to support other digital modes. The P3/SVGA USB Keyboard is just that, a keyboard input device that can be used to send data to the K3. Hi John, Yes of course, CW is included! It's probably not a good idea to keep talking about the USB keyboard as some sort of 'datamode' option for the P3/SVGA. It really is just a keyboard that can be plugged into the P3, and then the P3/SVGA becomes a data terminal much like how the K3 terminal utility works on a computer, only there isn't a computer. I don't suppose there is any chance of the function keys on a keyboard plugged into the P3_SVGA being able to activate K3 macros or being programmed as additional function keys for the K3? 73 de M0XDF (K3 #174, P3 #108) -- A good cook is like a sorceress who dispenses happiness. -Elsa Schiaparelli, fashion designer (1890-1973) __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
