Description: application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet

$$Excel-Macros$$ Need a macro to copy cells based upon a values in other cell.

2013-01-03 Thread Best Of Luck
hi,
Happy new year,

I need a macro that would copy cells based upon values in other cells. I
am using Excel 10.
I have a worksbook that has about 20 worksheets in it. Each of these
worksheets has 2 columns A8:A108 & B8:B108.. I want a macro that would do
the following:

   1. Select the activesheet & read the values in the source columns
B8:B108 and if there are no corrosponding values in the target columns
A8:A108 to copy cells from the source B8:B108 to target A8:A108 and
clear the contents of source cells B8:B108 .
   2. But if there are values in the target cells A8:A108 to leave the
values in those cells alone and still clear the contents of source cells
B8:B108 but Insert a comment saying "Old File" in the corrosponding
   target cells A8:A108 .

Both source cells B8:B108 & target cells A8:A108 are formated as text,

thanks...

2012-12-11 Thread Puttu *
Thanks a lot Ashish, this is what exactly what i am looking.

I small addition required, Once the Formula is placed and formula resulted
converted to % format, the value should highlight in red font if the value
is more than > 10% only for that result row.

Is this possible?

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Need a macro multiple workbook in one new workbook

2012-12-09 Thread David Grugeon
Insufficient information provided.

You have posted 4 apparently identical workbooks although Report1.xls is
slightly larger than the others so there must be some difference. What is
it?

Could you provide a workbook called, say, Result.xls with at least 2 or the
source reports included. This will give us much more information.

Will the source workbooks always have only 1 sheet called 16.0, or will
there sometimes be more than one sheet in the workbooks or will the sheet
names vary?

With regard to requirement 3 *(**3. This procedure should continue untile i
say no more workbook to use)*. Computers do not normally respond to spoken
commands. Do you want it to process all the files in the folder, or do you
want a message box to come up after each one with "Do you want me to
process another?" and yes and no buttons.

Are the files to be consolidated in a single directory? Is it the same
directory as the summary file (with the code) will be in? If not what is
its full path?
Are they the only files in that directory?

Full answers to these questions will get us a lot nearer to being able to
produce some workable code.

David Grugeon

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ need a macro to change the background color a cell as soon as i change the value (alphanumeric)

2012-07-03 Thread vijay yadav
Hi,

how to conditional format for a changed alpahnumerical cell value? is it
possible?

if i have a filled worksheet where

tb3 is value in cell A1 and

*tb4 is value in cell A2*
and

 I change cell *A1 value to tb4*

the "macro" would

*change only cell A1 background*.
It *shouldn'*t change cell A2 value

I think this is not possible with conditional formatting.
conditional formatting will highlight all cells with some condition
i want to highlight only cell which has a changed value...

Please help me in this regard

Best regards
Vijay yadav

Dear Vijay,

For this you may use conditional formatting. There is no need to make macro.

If your rows go in to the thousands, using autofilter will add a bit more
(~40%) efficiency

Sub Consolidator()

Application.ScreenUpdating = 0
With Range("A2", Cells(Rows.Count, "J").End(xlUp))
.AutoFilter 7, "Pickup"
.Offset(1, 10).Resize(.Rows.Count - 1, 10).SpecialCells(12).FormulaR1C1
= "=R[1]C[-10]"
.Rows(1).Offset(, 10).FormulaR1C1 = "=RC[-10]"
.AutoFilter
With .Offset(, 10).Resize(, 10)
.Value = .Value
.Offset(, -10).Copy
.PasteSpecial xlPasteFormats
.Columns(1).SpecialCells(4).EntireRow.Delete
End With
End With
Application.ScreenUpdating = 1

End Sub

Thank you for your ongoing Excel help. I need a macro to correct a
download issue. The download places one event on two lines in 10 columns. I
need the second line of every event moved up next the first part of the event,
thereby doubling the number of columns but cutting the number of rows in half.

I have detailed an example in the attached file. Thank you again for all
your help and teaching.

If Not mf Is Nothing Then
 Cells(mf.Row, 1).Resize(, 6).Copy ws.Cells(lr, 2)
 ws.Cells(lr, 1) = Date ' places todays date in col A

Subject: $$Excel-Macros$$ Need a macro to update data from raw file to
individual sheets of master

Hi Everyone,

I need a code for the following steps to be enacted

1. Save a backup file with the name counts - date.xls (this will be a
daily file)
2. remove rows with name (column B) matching with name in to be
removed sheet
3. copy value in name field and open the corusponding sheet in the
master
4. once the sheet is active, go to the last row insert current date in
left most collumn and paste the row from raw to master (from Column B)
5. copy the formula in the remailing columns in that sheet from above
6. once updated give a msg = this work is now complete

Conditions -
1. If the sheet does not exist in the master then give an inputbox
informing that we have a new name and asking if a new sheet should be
created or should this be merged with another existing sheet - if user
says yes to new sheet then create a new one with the same headers/
formatting and formulas as the others
2. In the end in the msg box (this work is now complete) it should
contain a summary of unusual events i.e.
A. New name (sheet created)
B. New name (merged with existing sheet)
C. Count for particular name in Column C2 greater than 50 (Name-
column B and count - C2 detail)

I tried my hand on this but got stuck half way. i was not able to find
a way to put condition 3 in the code.

This is really urgentI would be really really really greatful if
someone can help me out here.

Thanks a lot

I have attached a sample file for test and master with this post along
with my code.

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Need a macro to update data from raw file to individual sheets of master

2011-10-23 Thread dguillett1

Best to ATTACH your file. Code could be simplified. ie:
last = Cells(Rows.Count, "B").End(xlUp).Row
  For i = last To 1 Step -1
  If (Cells(i, "B").Value) = "ABC" Then
  Cells(i, "A").EntireRow.Delete
  End If
  If (Cells(i, "B").Value) = "XYZ" Then
  Cells(i, "A").EntireRow.Delete
  End If
  If (Cells(i, "B").Value) = "Res" Then
  Cells(i, "A").EntireRow.Delete
  End If
  Next i

could be

For i = Cells(Rows.Count, "B").End(xlUp).Row To 1 Step -1
Select Case UCase(Cells(i, "B"))
Case Is = "ABC", "XYZ", "RES": Rows(i).Delete
End Select
Next i

individual sheets of master

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Need a Macro

2011-07-06 Thread Abhishek Jain
Thanks a lot Ashish but this doesn't do what i need. I want the available
quantity and amount against negative and zero values. In other words I want
to set off those negatives and nulls with the positives.

Thanks & regards,

AJ

Hi,
One approach is to insert a new blank sheet, call it "END" and move it to
become the last sheet in the workbook.
Whenever adding new sheets, make sure they sit before the "END" sheet.
If your SUM formula was, for example:
=SUM(Sheet2:Sheet8!A1)
change it to:
=SUM(Sheet2:END!A1)
All sheets between (and including) "Sheet2" and "END" will be included, no
matter how many there are.

Hope this helps

RE: $$Excel-Macros$$ Need a Macro

2011-03-10 Thread Dave Bonallack

Hi,
One approach is to insert a new blank sheet, call it "END" and move it to
become the last sheet in the workbook.

Regards - Dave.

$$Excel-Macros$$ Need a Macro

2011-03-10 Thread karlaha...@hotmail.com
I have a tab that totals all of the other tabs in the spreadsheet. I
need to be able to add new tabs and have the formulas in the "totals"
tab automatically update.

How do I do this?

$$Excel-Macros$$ Need a macro to automatically merge cells in the worksheet/workbook

2009-05-21 Thread Praveen Khunte

Hi all
How's everyone doing?
I am novice to macro, I need a help from you guys. I hope it should be
simple.
Present Scenario: I have a macro which remove non-breaking space
from all the cells at once in the worksheet. (If anyone need, I can
share the code).
Usefulness of the Macro: When you copy data from the internet
and paste in an excel worksheet, it contains lot of spaces before and
after, and when you want to perform some calculation it doesn't give
desired result. This macro removes spaces before and after so that your
calculation (life) becomes easy.
Problem: This macro stops working beyond the point where the it
finds a merged cell. To overcome this, I need to select all the cells
of the worksheet and then Go to Format > Cells and  click uncheck
merge cells (as shown in image). This is tedious repetitive job since I
have about 30 worksheets.
Requirement: A macro which automatically merges all the cells of
the worksheet (if possible-entire workbook).

Warm Regards
Praveen
Khunte
