Problems moving mailboxes
Greetings, I am in the process of manually moving mailboxes from one server to another. Both servers are Exchange 5.5 Windows 2000. When moving some of the boxes I am getting a error. The error is The client operation failed. ID no: 80004005-0501-84005. I looked this up in Microsoft support and it talks about turning off virus scan product. That seems dangerous. I have turned off the size factor on the servers. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Have a great weekend. Jim, Thanks for the book reference. I will run out and get it. I was trying to block Neena [EMAIL PROTECTED], and I used ew01.com and that didn't block it. According to the rules, how would you have blocked this junk mail? Nate, I don't understand what you are saying? I know I can block full domains (@yahoo.com) but what I want is to block @**.ivy.net for @01.ivy.net and @02.ivy.net You see the suffix is .ivy.net but the prefix is 01 and 02... On the IMS under Message Filtering you can enter domains using the @domain.com (.net, etc.) You can filter a whole country in a similar fashion by using @fr (for France) For example. Regards. What would these do that your current system doesn't do (easy enough to figure out) that you will need / want to do in future (not so easy)? How important is continued support from Microsoft to you? Do you have a lot of road warriors or people on remote sites with relatively slow links? Are you running Windows 2000 or 2003 active directory? If so then it makes good sense not to have to maintain 2 user directories and upgrading to a newer version of exchange would enable this. _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=&lang =english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=&lang=english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Active Directory is a Security Team directive and if they get their piece done, we will be able to migrate to Exchange 2003. Currently we are using Outlook 98 and Exchange 5.5. We have 4500 mailboxes and will probably grow to 5000 by mid-2004 when we are looking at to convert. How intense is Active Directory from the Security Team's view-point? We are using Novell and NT 4.0. There are approximately 12000 accounts to be converted to AD. Once their piece is in place and our upgrade and migration from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 starts, how long will it take us to convert these 5000 users. Are their tools out there to help with the migration? Are there things that a eMAIL Administrator has to do for AD? To we have to touch each mailbox and replace distribution lists? I know these plans are a long way down the road, but I want to be positioned to get there with great success. Duplicate calendar entries...
Good afternoon, Outlook 98 Exchange 5.5 NT 4.0 SP4 I have a user that gets duplicated meeting messages, not on all meeting message but some of them. Also, this same user calendar shows these meetings and Tentative even though he does not open the meeting messages. He has a delegate but since she has reported this problem, does not open these messages. Has anyone encountered this problem? Is there a solution other than getting off of Outlook 98. Thanks. Upgrading Exchange Servers
Hello Everyone, Outlook 98 Exchange 5.5 NT 4.0 SP4. We are interested in upgrading our Exchange servers from NT 4.0 to Windows 2000. What would be the best way to go about that? Once we have done what would be the best option as to Outlook clients. We do not plan on active directory for three years. Have a great day and thanks for all of your help. Here is what I did... What did I do wrong? I have a Help Desk mailbox. I created a distribution list called AIS HELP DESK. I added AIS HELP DESK as a delegate to HELP DESK mailbox. The on behalf shows up on the delivery options tab of the Help Desk mailbox. I think I did everything right, but... It doesn't work.. -Original Message- From: Depp, Dennis M. RE: Calendar Problems
This doesn't work at all for this.. A few things that I noticed: I can sign onto her account and everything is screwed up. Every meeting goes to the top of her calendar like it's an all day meeting. There is a clock on the left hand side of those meetings on the top. After scheduling a meeting the meeting appears as 11:23 or whatever time you scheduled the meeting. When I add my mailbox to her folder list, it shows my meetings just like her. Everyone at the top for every meeting. (I wish I could send you a picture. It is ugly.) Now I sign onto my account and everything is like it is supposed to be. Nice and neat and clean... I can sign on as her through OWA and her calendar is correct.. Please help me, I am going nuts.. And that isn't a very long trip. Thanks again for anything I do not find anything like this on Microsoft Support Website Mike -Original Message- From: Robert M Jones [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, February 19, 2003 11:04 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: Calendar Problems Here's a copy of Diane's last reply to that: (not my text - hers) The calendar items were exported to a PST - when you are ready to restore them, look on outlook's file menu, select open, personal folders. Find the PST the items are stored in. If you have the folder view disabled, enable it (view, folder list) - go to the folder and use a table view. (You might want to make a new view that doesn't use filters.) Select All then drag to the items to the new calendar folder. recurring scheduling problems
Good afternoon, Outlook 98 NT 4.0 SP4 I was working with a user on an Outlook scheduling problem and after we had completed the rescheduling process I was curious of how other people were handling reschedules. Here is the scenario: User needed to reschedule a recurring meeting and the resource that the meeting was to be held was already occupied. The user removed the resource that was in use, and found another resource. Meeting was scheduled and the new resource accepted. The only problem that remains is that the original resource was left with a meeting but no one will be there. How do you handle this rescheduling issue? Thanks for your input. A question or two from a user!!!
Good afternoon, Outlook 98 and Exchange 5.5 NT4. I have a user that writes the following: Mike; Is there a way that I can set up automatic indent on my messages? I have found the indent increase and decrease tabs, but can I have it so my messages automatically start with the indent? Does anyone know where I can find these options on Outlook? I looked high and low. Thanks. Recurring meeting problems
Good afternoon, Outlook 98 Exchange 5.5 SP4... Short of upgrading to Outlook 2000, please help me if you can. We have a certain person that is having the recurring meeting blues. She is getting illegal operation and it boots her off of Outlook. It has been suggested that we delete her calendar after restoring it but when I was using a test Outlook to do that, after deleting the calendar and opening the test eMAIL box, the calendar didn't come back. So I took the PST and restored over a existing calendar but I could not reproduce her error on a machine other that hers. She ha gotten a new work station and the problem of recurring meeting causing Illegal operations still exists. It is on any recurring meeting. We deleted her frmcache.dat and that only hung her recurring meeting up saying they could not be found. I was a young spry kid when this started now I am so old I am close to retirement. Any help and support would be greatly appreciated. Flags for messages....
Good morning, Isn't the weather simply marvelous? Outlook 98 and Exchange 5.5 SP4 The reminder pop up for flagged messages other that the contact list and Inbox are not popping up. These messages are changing colors showing they are past due, but the reminders do not come. Does anyone know how to correct this problem. The switch outlook /cleanreminders /cleanfreebusy doesn't correct the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Have a great weekend. confidentiality disclaimers
Good morning, Outlook 98 exchange 5.5 sp4 My management staff has decided they wanted a low cost way to put confidentiality disclaimers on the bottom of all eMAILs that are created by our users. They want they to go during the send process where the user has no control over them at all. They are wanting all statements to be the same. Does anyone use this method? Date format change
Good morning; Outlook 98 and Exchange 5.5 SP4 Does anyone know how to change the date format over the daily schedule using the day/week/month format on Outlook? The lady is reporting she has 4/26/2002 and she wants Friday, April 26. I looked everywhere but could find how that can be changed. Have a great weekend. Having problems with accounts.
Good morning, Outlook 98. Exchange 5.5 sp4. When looking at our Mailbox Resources list, we have several users that show up. They have no Windows NT account associated with these accounts. We receive the following errors: The object cannot be found in the directory. This may be because replication has not been completed. Microsoft Exchange Directory ID no: c101aae. We cannot delete these accounts. I could not find anything in the KB. Does anyone have a clue at what might be going on? Mike, next time instead of describing the problem vaguely, and then proposing the solution that you intend to use and only asking questions about how to implement that solution, be more direct. First, describe the exact failure and include the exact text of the error message that the users get. If you can identify a logged event, then include that too.
