Restricting OWA access
I have a client who would like to restrict some users to only access OWA internally. While other users, will have both internal and external OWA access. The client is an Exchange 2007 shop. OWA Access denied trying to delete e-mail
I have users (ok, all of them but me the admin) who cannot delete their e-mail when using at OWA, I can't find which permission I need to allow, anyone have a pointer for me? David Lum // SYSTEMS ENGINEER NORTHWEST EVALUATION ASSOCIATION (Desk) 971.222.1025 // (Cell) 503.267.9764

DR site and OWA access
We have a DR site created and we have built a CAS/Hub server and a mailbox server. The two servers are in another site so they are off-site. I created a mailbox on that mailbox server and connected to the Hub server in that site via OWA. When I get in, I get the message: Use the following link to open this mailbox with optimal performance It then re-directs me to our CAS in our primary site. In a DR situation, those CAS would be down so I don't think we want it re-directing. I must be missing some setting so that it doesn't re-direct users from that site.
Re: DR site and OWA access
See the link below to understand cas proxying and redirection. It sounds like there is either some AD site misconfiguration, i.e. the mailbox you are trying to log into may appear to be in the prod site. What do you see when you run a get-exchangeserver under Site are the DR boxes in a different site than prod? http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/09/04/446918.aspx -alex On Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 8:08 AM, Pfefferkorn, Pete (pfeffepe) pfeff...@ucmail.uc.edu wrote: We have a DR site created and we have built a CAS/Hub server and a mailbox server. RE: DR site and OWA access
One step further :) There was an old DR test account that was on another backend not in the site causing the re-direct. Removed that and connect to the right mailbox and we are looking good. I am hitting on other problem and that is with the firewall settings on the hub/client server. I believe that it's causing our problems with the Mail submission and it erroring out when trying to send mail from the mailbox server.Actually I know since I turned off the firewall and the messages came through. I have the following ports open http port 80 https port 443 tcp port 3380 smtp port 25 I'm missing some other ports I believe. Try running the following powershell command, on your DR CAS server set-owavirtualdirectory owa (default web site) -RedirectToOptimalOWAServer $false This will stop the redirection and do a CAS to CAS proxy. OWA access issues after renaming user id
Hello Everyone, I have a user who just got married a few days ago. I changed her user account information by renaming her user account as well as changing her SMTP address and display name. Today she said that she can no longer access her emails using outlook web access. After reviewing her email account properties, I notice that her Directory Name was not renamed and is grayed out. Does anyone no how to change the directory name or have a solution to this problem? Kevin List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm
RE: OWA access issues after renaming user id
The directory name is a constant, unchangeable, entry The only way to change it is to export her mail, delete the existing, re-create, import her mail or tell her it's a feature so she never forgets who she was. ;-) CJP -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, July 17, 2002 2:24 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: OWA access issues after renaming user id Hello Everyone, I have a user who just got married a few days ago. RE: OWA access issues after renaming user id
Chad, Thanks for you assistance. I try exporting her email account structure, made the changes to the directory name and then import the account information back before contacting the listserv. I did not delete her account so the import did not work. I just came up with a solution that I would like to share with everyone. I went to IIS manager of the server that is hosting OWA and change the directory security to Windows NT challenge/response. I am happy to say that solve the problem. OWA Access
I have installed and configured an E2K server (thanks to William on answering a previous question), I have also configured Messenger and works fine (configured for Exchange connection only, thanks to Siegfried). However when I go to http://E2K servername (or IP)/exchange, I get an authentication POP up window (same as OWA on 5.5) but when I enter the username and password of a user who's mailbox is located on the E2K server I get an error indicating that I do not have the right permission. The E2K server is Enterprise version configured as Backend server (this is the only E2K server). When I look at IIS under the Default Web Site, I see a red stop sign on the with ERROR written on it for Public, Exchange and Exchadmin. Could anyone tell me what I have done wrong? RE: OWA Access
Sounds like the Outlook client is being run from a Win9x/me pc, where the password is NOT case sensitive. Via OWA (IIS) and WinNT/2k(/xp?), the password IS case sensitive. If you can't figure out the correct case, retyping the exact password into user manager for domains/ADUC (and replicating), or simply making the user change their password will usually do the trick. -Bonnie M. -Original Message- From: Theresa Hadden-Martinez [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, December 11, 2001 10:41 AM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: OWA Access I have a single user that cannot log into OWA. OWA access
When I began changing user names in my domain I started having issues with these users not being able to access Outlook Web Access. I have tried it a couple ways, but I'm changing the scheme of our usernames from firstnamelastinitial to firstinitiallastname. I was successful in getting a user to be able to access OWA after changing their username, but I had to reset everything for this account because I deleted the old account and created a new one, then went into Exchange and changed that user's link to username. That was too much work, especially if I'm going to have to do it for everyone. Desiree Herrmann Network Manager MasterLink Corp. OWA Access from Different Server
Hello I am part of a WAN that has several bridgehead servers and about a hundred Exchange 5.5 sp4 servers. I am responsible for two of these servers that bothemail addresses on ourdomain. One of these servers has a direct internet connection so we are using it for OWA. Users who mailbox reside on that server have no problems at all accessing OWA. Users whose mailboxes are on the other server cannot access it at all. They get Unable to get inbox - I know it is not an alias issue as we use the full SMTP address. I thought it was trust but we have a reciprocal trust relationship and I can access all files on their domain and they can access all of mine. We also use wins replication that seems to be working fine (no error messages). I am thinking I need a connector between the two servers. In looking at the setups (that I inherited) we have site connectors to different bridgehead servers. Can anyone point me in the direction to go to learn how to set this up? Could not find anything on Microsoft or in the archives. Ordered a couple of books but would like to get a jump on this if possible.
