[FairfieldLife] Re: "What we have here.... is a failure to communicate."
Sri Jim, Hey, I've seen quite a few folks barge in here since, well, since I barged in here about a year ago with my tude going full blast, and just about all of the newbies have had to fight their way into this gang. Gotta take a thousand kicks from us -- that's how we see if you go away or stick around and surrender to the abuse that is available here -- it can be as much fun as snowball fighting, and as dangerous. I post these long rants and lectures and sermons and get almost nothing back, but I look at it as my archiving for posterity the ruminations of a newage cud chewer. I pride myself that as long as the Internet lasts, I'll be googlable. Scant immortality, but where else can an ego invest these days? Prepare to have King Lear's feelings on a regular basis if you try to lay down some truth here. Points of view are mercilessly scathed and I count it as a nice sandpapering of one's egoic sculpture to get a group to refine one's projections. That said, hey, I really like you. I really really like you. Keep posting. Something ya gots resonates over here. If you post some biographical info, that sometimes mellows the folks out -- otherwise, a stranger has come to town and we're all putting our hands next to our holsters. And get that damned stair-stepping format fixed. Edg --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, srijim1 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > > You are incorrect on both counts. Rick Archer is NOT a TM Movement true believer (TB). He, like a lot of us, was once deeply involved in the inner workings of the TM organization. He is actually banned from certain inner TM activities now. (Dome) You're way off trying to categorize him as a movement zombie.

Rick started this group because he was *not* a True Believer. Barry already explained this to you. You just aren't paying attention. > And to any other Ex-TMers out there, please understand that all > of my postings have been directed to what I believed was a TM > Movement yahoo group in the context of a TM Movement staff > member's press release. Everybody who's read your posts here understands you were operating on the basis of this mistaken assumption; it could hardly have been clearer. Again, that's why I suggested you go back and read some of the earlier traffic from before MMY died. If you had done so, your mistake would have become obvious to you. A few other points, since you appear to be listening now: This group is *open* to True Believers; theoretically they're welcome here, although in practice that isn't always the case, and they're distinctly in the minority. Not all the members of the group live in Fairfield. Not sure of the percentages, but I'd guess more don't. A lot of people are members of the group but don't usually post. Some read the group regularly; some don't. Some are True Believers; some aren't. When MMY died, a bunch of these lurkers came out of the woodwork to express their feelings about the event. In many cases, these were people who still admire, or even revere, Maharishi. So if you read any of the traffic beyond Rick's post, you did see many more posts from True Believers than you would in a normal week. A lot of the people here have *mixed feelings* about MMY. Don't assume that because someone says something positive about him, therefore they're a True Believer; or if they post something negative, therefore they agree with your perspective on all points. This forum is, among other things, a source for news and gossip about the TM movement. Most of us are interested in following what's going on, whether we're still part of the movement or not (or whether we ever were or not). Movement press releases and other "official" material is frequently posted here simply to keep us informed of what's happening. That someone posts a piece of TMO material by no means indicates that they "believe" what it says. It's a standard recommendation for people joining electronic forums that they take some time--at least a week--to read the traffic before they start posting. The reason this recommendation is made is to help people *avoid* making the kind of mistakes you've made and looking like a fool. So you may want to take that piece of advice to heart for the future.

That is yet another incorrect assumption and example of why you would do well to spend some serious time, reading the archives and getting to know the participants here. Rick Archer is NOT a TM "true believer". Rick Archer was kicked out of the dome. Rick Archer ditched his TM mantra and instead uses a mantra given to him by Ammachi. Rick Archer is the one who posted an email discussion about allegations that MMY was sexually involved with women. These are all facts that can be found in the FFL archives. There's a reason why it's common netiquette for newbies to a forum to lurk for a while and get a feel for the forum and its participants before participating. You barged in here, completely ignorant of what FFL is about and the people who post here, and started making a complete ass of yourself. Barry's right: "You're clueless. Either shut up and learn something, or go away."
