It seems that the issue is between "root" and my local user. If I sign on under "root", the HP Device application has no problem finding my OfficeJet. Nor does it have any problems with the scan function. If I am signed on as my local user, the system is unable to communicate with the printer. I did find that while going through the set up process for the printer under my local sign in, that it asked for my password. After typing it in several times, I hit the cancel button. There may be a disconnect where by the application is unable to recognize my local sign on password. > > -- > fedora-list mailing list > fedora-list@redhat.com > To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list > Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines

But again, it won't let me reconnect > to the router with the Acer until I reset the router. Otherwise it just keeps > asking me for the WPA2 password. Now I've done some more experimenting. I put both the Acer and my other laptop online wirelessly. Copying a large file from my desktop computer to the Acer locks up the wireless side of the router. The copy fails after just over 3mb has been transferred and you can't do anything with the wireless connections after that. While the connections still read as up (four bars) on both laptops, you can't communicate and you can't re-connect until the router has been reset. Copying that exact same file (and a bunch more afterward for good measure) from my desktop computer to my other laptop works perfectly. The files transfer and everything works just like it should both before and after the copy has been sent. If I don't copy large files from my desktop computer to the Acer when it's connected wirelessly, then everything seems to work. I can use the Acer to browse the web and so on without any apparent problem that I've seen to date. I'm pretty sure it's something to do with higher transfer speed that you get with a local file copy versus something that's coming in over the internet. The Acer is apparently sending something unexpected to the router that causes the wireless functions of the router to lock up. The wired connections to the router continue to work normally. The router is a "Belkin Wireless G". I wonder if there is some kind of a "stop for a moment because I'm overloaded" command that the Acer is sending to the router, and forgetting to tell the router to start again afterward. I think I've discovered a pattern here. The problem appears to be caused by what can best be described as going too fast. If I get a wireless connection going with my Acer Aspire One I can use it for what appears to be an indefinite period of time as long as I'm doing lower-speed stuff. Log into it with SSH, use VNC, browse the net, run "yum install" and so on. All appears to be well. However, as soon as I try to copy a large file locally over the network, the wireless connection locks up. For example, this command to copy a file from this desktop computer to the Acer: scp MyFonts-1.0-1.noarch.rpm acer:/home/frankcox Got this far and stalled: WindowsVistaFonts-1.0-1.noarch.rpm 56% 3088KB 361.5KB/s - stalled - The only way to get the connection back is to go to the router's configuration page and "reset router". I'm sure that I've copied large files over the wireless connection to my other laptop before (I don't see why I wouldn't have) and I've never seen this lockup problem before. I've tried this twice and had the same thing happen both times. And when I lost my connection earlier today it was when attempting to copy a large file as well. So... do I need to slow something down somewhere? Has anyone ever heard of this type of an overrun on a wireless connection? (I can do local copying of large files via the wired ethernet connection on the Acer just fine.) I'm just about out of time to play with this for the moment but later tonight I'll copy another large file and I'll see if my other laptop still connects wirelessly after the connection to the Acer locks up. It still connected earlier this afternoon but that was after the Acer connection had been locked up for a while. It's obviously not locking up the whole router because I can still log into the router's configuration page to reset it. But again, it won't let me reconnect to the router with the Acer until I reset the router. Otherwise it just keeps asking me for the WPA2 password. -- MELVILLE THEATRE ~ Melville Sask ~ http://www.melvilletheatre.com DRY CLEANER BUSINESS FOR SALE ~ http://www.canadadrycleanerforsale.com -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines

pdftk - f9 & f10
It's my understanding that pdftk was removed from the F9 repository due to some licensing issues with itext (which pdftk requires to work). pdftk is rather important to me and I assume a lot of other people as well. I use it to create two-up impositions for a printing press. I found a web page that stated the problems with itext had now been solved so itext was in the F10 rawhide repo. I just checked and sure enough, itext-2.1.3-4.fc10.src.rpm, right there large as life. However, pdftk isn't there. In many cases (probably most cases), when using telnet to talk to some non telnet server, you will not be able to use the backspace and cursor keys. You're not talking to a command line interpreter, which would let you edit a command line, then execute it when you press enter. You're sending characters to something that's expecting a very limited range of input. If telneting to a HTTP server, for instance, a command might be GET followed by what to get. It has to be typed letter perfect. If you type any other character then try to correct it, you've sent those characters *plus* the editing characters to the server. Generally, they're acting on each character as they're sent, not on a prepared command line, to be sent all at once. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ uname -r 2.6.26.6-79.fc9.i686 Don't send private replies to my address, the mailbox is ignored. acer aspire one - wireless ethernet
I installed the F10 beta on my new Acer Aspire One and it's working really well, with one exception that I've discovered so far. The wireless ethernet connects fine and works for a while. Then it stops responding, even though the little bar thing shows three or four bars. If I try to connect to my router again it comes up with a message telling me to enter my password to access the router. If I click on "show password" it shows me a series of numbers and letters that's not my WPA2 password. If I enter my password again it attempts to connect, fails, and just brings me back to the window asking for my password. Re: Which one is better Ubuntu Or Fedora 9
Michael H. Warfield wrote: I probably should stay out of this... But... On Tue, 2008-11-04 at 11:17 -0800, Alex Makhlin wrote: Mikkel L. It depends on too many factors for the answer to be the same in all situations. The OP has not given us enough information to even take a guess on what would be best for him. Mikkel My original question was based on the fact that Ubuntu is used on either pre installed Linux systems and on what they call "Linux friendly" computers which Ubuntu is recommended for. So my question is why did they choose Ubuntu? What makes it so special? I personally like Fedora far better for my own personal reasons. I don't even touch my Vista Ultimate 64 partition any more. But again, why is the mainstream market choosing Ubuntu? IMHO (take it for what it's worth)... Fedora has been accused of being "Beta", which is very wrong. It's not beta at all but it is EA. But it's not EA in the sense of "Early Availability", which you see from a lot of commercial outfits like Sun. It's more EA as in "Early Adopters" where we get more of the newest toots and whistles, whether they're fully baked and prime time or not. It's really for people who are not afraid to climb under the hood (to get back to the auto analogy) and tinker and tune, if you have to or if you want to (as oppose to some distributions where you don't have a choice). Ubuntu, OTOH, is really geared for the "non-gearheads". You might not see as many toots and whistles (but I'm really impressed with what I do see) but it will have a lot more than RHEL (which is more server oriented) and it will be pretty darn stable and supported over a much longer life cycle (big support pluses). Fedora is stable but does still pop enough surprises on me that I would not recommend it to my non-techie friends (and only some of my techie-friends, depending on their talent and predisposition to pester me). I would (and do) recommend Ubuntu in a heartbeat. I have an old high school friend who is a school bus driver who was given some old machines. Would I plague her with Fedora and have her figure out what went wrong when something goes bump and I don't know what hardware she has in the bucket? I don't think so. I'm installing Ubuntu on a machine right now for my daughter and wouldn't hesitate to do the same for either of my grandsons. I don't think I would give them Fedora. Certainly not F10 or F9. I'm a little less hesitant about F8, but that's already nearing its end of life with F10 coming out. That's not the cycle I want any of them on, upgrading their machines every 6-12 months or be SOL on updates. Nope, wrong answer. Right answer for me, wrong answer for them. My son on the other hand is just as proficient as I am and keeps a stable of various Fedora systems and servers running. I work on Fedora, I use Fedora, I debug Fedora and I develop for Fedora. But I would not recommended for others who are not into the same level or interest of techie and geeky stuff that I'm into. Oh, and there are a LOT more distributions I use. I found another threat about a forensic Fedora distribution amusing when we have already NST (Network Security TookKit) which is a forensic toolkit CD based on (now) Fedora 8. I use that extensively and have forensic CD's preinstalled in all my remote servers with serial consoles. Different distribution, different purpose, different target audience. I've also used Knoppix and Slackware where they fit the job. One size does NOT fit all. A hammer will drive a screwdriver but it doesn't make you a carpenter (usually expressed "when all you have is a hammer, all problems start looking like nails"). When ever someone asks "is this better or is that better" the answer is generally "yes" and then "no" and then "it depends on what you want to use it for - define your conditions". And I will stand on that for this as well. Which is better? Both and neither. Depending upon purpose and conditions or circumstances one can argue each is better and one can argue that neither are appropriate (I would use neither in the forensic case). Mike Hi and thank you for your clear answer, Yes I agree that Fedora 9 is not a Beta or an EA. I find Fedora 9 to be a great distribution and am looking forward to Fedora 10. Fedora 9 still has a few bugs but we are all working on them and they do get resolved quite quickly. As far as I concluded, I am sticking with Fedora. -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines

Try lspci -v -v -x and other variants. 2. Refresh the CMOS. Go to CMOS setup during boot (watch the screen - most likely it will tell you how) and select "factory defaults" or "default settings" - save and exit. Often in an old computer the CMOS battery goes low and the CMOS settings go flakey. By restoring defaults during boot you write a clean set of settings while power is held up by the computer being on. If this clears the problem, replace the battery. Sometimes it works to remove the CMOS battery and do the above test. See if lspci sees it now. 3. Try another PCI slot on your machine. 4. Confirm that the card works in another machine. 5. Obtain service manual for card and motherboard and look for an issue related to PCI bus setup (run - update-pciids ? ). Google is our friend with this kind of thing. Good Hunting! Tod Three other thing to consider... What other cards/devices are in the box on the PCI bus? How old a motherboard? (old enough to be a transitional ISA to PCI or first gen all PCI)?? I generally think of network cards as low power devices, but could it be that there is not enough power left in the power rails of the mobo (last PCI slot of the board)? It has been a while, but with some older equipment I had to use I could have one of the two (different types of) network cards in the computer and have them assigned an interrupt, but putting the second card in would [depending on the physical bus order and bios settings] cause the machine to not boot up or only recognize one card was physically there. as Tod implies, lspci is your friend... abuse that friendship :) -- Todd Denniston Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC Crane) Harnessing the Power of Technology for the Warfighter -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines

I would be strongly against an OEM putting Fedora on regular user desktops anyways. Ubuntu has a much more versatile user support infrastructure, and a lot more stable pace than Fedora. Both of these reasons lead to me not using it, but are also good reasons for an OEM (especially a lazy one) to use. So Ubuntu on Dells is a good thing. That itself does not make it better than Fedora. The Ubuntu life cycle is much longer than Fedora, making it more stable for production environments. I don't particularly buy that argument. If you are looking for stability in production environments, then you need to compare the Enterprise distributions, such as RHEL and CentOS. With Ubuntu you can chose LTS or Normal, and you can purchase a support contract. Fedora (and OpenSuSe for that matter) is not intended for a corporate production environment. It includes all the bells and whistles because the user community demands these where a corporate production desktop or server needs more stability. I currently run Ubuntu (8.10 Intrepid Ibex) on my personal laptop, Fedora 9 on my corporate HP Integrity (IA64) Workstation, and Fedora 9 on my x86_64 desktop at home. I happen to like the fact that Ubuntu has a decent LiveCD with an easy installer. Fedora and OpenSuSE are more traditional in that they provide more bits on the installation media. Aditionally, it is my perception that both Red Hat and Novel give more back to the OpenSource community. I know that Red Hat and SuSE both has a number of kernel developers on staff. I don't even touch > my Vista Ultimate 64 partition any more. But again, why is the > mainstream market choosing Ubuntu? Mike -- Michael H. Good question - different readahead possibly meaning that the bad sector is or is not getting touched. You need to look at the smart data as that will show the exact command that caused the error, the number of known bad blocks on the disk and the like. -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines

So, I should have know better. Alan, you were correct. yes, all upto date. a new build from my kickstart is finishing updating right now (had to add oddjob/turn it on by default). Once its done I'll send what info I can. Before i was getting an selinux alert/error, but i generated and loaded a local policy, which took care of the selinux alert, but still didn't fix xguest (it just bouces back out to GDM). KDE will have a similar setting. I'll likely need the device nodes to be created in case there's an admin need. But the user on the system should not get access to any usb storage device. Hence the need to only disable the automount part of the process. A quick test of turning off haldaemon didn't prove promising. I noticed immediately that automounting CD's is disabled. init does not respawn mgetty
I created a new file in /etc/event.d in the hope that mgetty would be started automatically, and respawned when it ends. Well, it starts fine on system restart, but when mgetty ends, that's it... no respawn. :-( This is Fedora 9 I created this ttyS1 file in /etc/event.d, which I modeled after an existing file (tty1) : # ttyS1 - mgetty # # This service maintains an mgetty on ttyS1 from the point the system is # started until it is shut down again. # DNR 2008-10-29 description "mgetty for Caller ID modem" start on stopped rc2 start on stopped rc3 start on stopped rc4 start on stopped rc5 start on started prefdm stop on runlevel 0 stop on runlevel 1 stop on runlevel 6 exec /usr/local/sbin/mgetty -n 2 ttyS1 respawn But, after mgetty answers an incoming call, and ends... it is not respawned... so a second call is never answered. Where do I find documentation on the contents of these files in /etc/event.d or is there a different mechanism I should be using for such things? This is done by hal - or it would happen on the console too. do you want the device nodes created at all? or just not mounted? you can completely disable usb storage devices using /etc/modprobe.conf, if you wish, just add this line to it: install usb_storage /bin/true This will prevent usb_storage devices from working (as long as usb_storage is not already loaded). It's a bit of a drastic solution, but it works fine. However, their device nodes will also not exist, so manual mounting is out of the question as well. > Maybe somebody can offer advice on this: If I leave the libusb section in > 50-udev-default.rules file and put my new rule that does notification in a > 20-local.rules I understand that the 20 file is a higher priority. The hal solution offered earlier seems like a good start if you want the devices to be mountable, but not automounted. There's probably a gconf key to prevent this from happening under GNOME, too if you'd rather. KDE will have a similar setting. Stuart -- Stuart Sears RHCA etc. "It's today!" said Piglet. Re: ATA Problem with Kernel 2.6.26.6-79
Media error is a flag raised directly by the drive. The kernel can't invent it. Your drive reported an error, with data ready, the error was uncorrectable. The smart data from the drive will provide further information on why the drive logged an error and the nature of the error. ATA Problem with Kernel 2.6.26.6-79
After booting the with the latest 2.6.26.6-79 kernel on Fedora 9, my system became extremely slow. To the point that Gnome menus would take 20-30 seconds just to drop down. Loading applications as simple as gedit would take a minute or two. In looking into this problem, I opened a terminal and started top. It showed my system at nearly 100% wait time on the CPU. Then I started poking around the logs (/var/log/messages), and I kept seeing the following errors, repeat over and over again: Nov 4 03:08:54 localhost kernel: ata1.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x0 Nov 4 03:08:54 localhost kernel: ata1.00: BMDMA stat 0x24 Nov 4 03:08:54 localhost kernel: ata1.00: cmd c8/00:a0:09:9a:3d/00:00:00:00:00/e0 tag 0 dma 81920 in Nov 4 03:08:54 localhost kernel: res 51/40:00:18:9a:3d/00:00:00:00:00/e0 Emask 0x9 (media error) Nov 4 03:08:54 localhost kernel: ata1.00: status: { DRDY ERR } Nov 4 03:08:54 localhost kernel: ata1.00: error: { UNC } Nov 4 03:10:48 localhost kernel: ata1.00: configured for UDMA/100 Nov 4 03:10:48 localhost kernel: ata1: EH complete So, I thought I had my hard disk failing, and I was very concerned. I found some posts where others were having the same problem, but no one really thought it was an issue. All the other posts where for RAID setups though, on servers, so they may not see the interactivity issues that I was seeing. So, as an experiment, I booted the older 2.6.26.5-45 kernel, and guess what? No ata error messages in /var/log, and the responsiveness of my system has returned to normal. This clearly looks like a bug in the ata code somewhere to me. The command telnet or TELNET or TeLnEt on Windows would launch the same telnet program as case has no meaning on Windows. On Linux, you would have to have an exact match because telnet, TELNET and TeLnEt are potentially 3 different programs and only an exact match would matter. The command nc (or NC in the case insensitive Windows world), refers to the 'netcat' program which is a telnet on super steroids. I would suggest that for the time being at least, you ignore netcat and just use telnet. Telnet Confusion (was Re: CUPS, Alpine, and printserving : telnet weirdness)
This is the second half of a reply to Craig White's post below, put into a new thread because it has departed so far from the original topic. I'm discovering great new stuff -- new to me, that is -- and I want to draw maximal attention to it from others who may be in shoes like mine. Ignoring a lot of things I wouldn't know if they bit me never mind where, to be sure. But in the present context, there seem to be some I can't ignore -- some that (afaict) reflect the settings on my terminal, and some that are apparently matters of notation and vocabulary. Thus for instance, following along the second paragraph, about NetCat -- or rather, trying to follow -- I get this : = = = = telnet> NC -v -v {address} {port}^[[D^[[D^[[D^H^H^H^H^H^[[3~^C [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ telnet telnet> ^[[A^[[D^C [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ NC -v -v 192.168.0.8 631 bash: NC: command not found [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ telnet telnet> NC -v -v 192.168.0.8 631 ?Invalid command telnet> NC -v -v {192.168.0.8} {631} ?Invalid command telnet> = = = = If only by trial and error, I think I can set up a different terminal emulation (xterm instead of my usual gnome terminal, for instance, which is configured primarily for Alpine), and avoid all that gibberish caused by trying to use the backspace and arrow keys. selinux question(s) (/home really = /n/home..)
So, I have an environment, where we pull user data/auth from ldap/kerberos for a bunch of fedora workstations. I would love to have selinux turned on on these, but, right now it jsut doesn't work with our setup. See, your users home directories are in a few different places. for the most part, LDAP think their home is at /n/home, or /n/data/home. So, i have /home bind mounted to those locations, and, sith selinux off, its all nice and happy. Another weird thing, is that /home is local on these workstations, so when a user sits at a workstation for the first time, an empty homedir must be created. We hope to move to nfs /home soon, but not yet. once i turn it on, however, users cannot log in, and the home directoies cannot be created. I get selinux messages like: Summary: SELinux is preventing sshd (sshd_t) "create" to ./nichols2 (home_root_t). Detailed Description: SELinux denied access requested by sshd. It is not expected that this access is required by sshd and this access may signal an intrusion attempt. It is also possible that the specific version or configuration of the application is causing it to require additional access. Allowing Access: Sometimes labeling problems can cause SELinux denials. You could try to restore the default system file context for ./nichols2, restorecon -v './nichols2' If this does not work, there is currently no automatic way to allow this access. Instead, you can generate a local policy module to allow this access - see FAQ (http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/selinux-faq-fc5/#id2961385) Or you can disable SELinux protection altogether. Disabling SELinux protection is not recommended. Please file a bug report (http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/enter_bug.cgi) against this package. Using one host as a "gateway" where all the terminal windows live would also be a bit restrictive for the way that I work. I'm guess I'm pretty settled in my ways with screen etc. and it fits nicely into the way I like to organise my work. Screen did not have this behavior back in FC6, so it appears that something changed in the meantime. If you haven't tried it, it is much more responsive on remote connections than other remote X approaches and cross platform clients are easy to install. I've tried FreeNX and for what it does, it's definitely a big step up from vnc etc., but I'd still like screen to work the way it used to - it's a bit of a "from my cold dead hands" issue I guess :-) Regards, Bryn. -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines

Does anyone have step-by-step instructions for using freenx 7.3's ability to remotely mirror the console session? I'm trying to do it under Centos but maybe someone here has more experience with it. Java plugin stopped working.
I'm using 2.22.2 of ephipany and my java plugin seems to have stopped working presumably as a result of a recent update (nspluginwrapper-1.1.2.2.fc9.x86_64?). If I go to this site: http://www.javatester.org/index.html then select the Java Version tab, it says "Browser has Java disabled" . Bryn M. Reeves wrote: Dave Feustel wrote: Have you tried pasting into vim running in an xterm session? (Past the text by going into insert and then pressing shift+insert). Yes - running vim outside screen (xterm, gnome-terminal etc.) works fine. Running it in screen, in either an xterm or a gnome-terminal gives the problematic behaviour. Xorg CPU usage is noticably higher with gnome-terminal and the delay (several minutes for gnome-terminal) between pasting and some text appearing in the editor feels slightly less, but the same basic problem persists. There is no problem when pasting into vim running in a plain xterm (no screen). This may not solve your problem, but just in general I find it much nicer to use freenx and the NX client from www.nomachine.com for the things I might otherwise have done with screen. That is, leave a desktop running under freenx on a stable, well connected machine with an assortment of terminal windows, perhaps ssh'd to other systems. You can disconnect the NX client with everything running and reconnect later even from other locations just like screen except with a full GUI desktop and very good remote performance after the initial screen draw. screen + vim + paste -> not happy
Hi Folks, I've hit an odd problem when pasting large amounts of text into vim running inside a screen session. Steps to reproduce: 1. open a new file in vim (e.g. vim /tmp/foo) and enter insert mode 2. select a large amount of text (a few hundred lines or so) 3. paste (middle click or ctrl-c/ctrl-v) into the editor At this point, Xorg CPU usage shoots up to close to 100%, the desktop feels very unresponsive and the terminal window that vim is running in flashes between a blue background with black borders and all-black. A few minutes later, some or all of the text will appear (possibly with some whitespace changes) in the editor and life goes back to normal. I'm seeing this on two different systems with different graphics drivers (i945 & nv). I cannot reproduce this behaviour outside of screen and I've also managed to make vim lock up a couple of times while running within screen on f9 (I don't have exact steps to reproduce this - it seems like some keystroke sequences trigger it but I can't make it happen at will). I'll open a bugzilla for this, but figured I'd post it here in case anyone's seen something similar. On a fresh system, all you should have to do is connect a printer to the print server computer, and let it sort itself out, or manually set that printer up on the server. Or a bit of both (I renamed the automatic named printer settings to something less annoying). Whichever way you go, once the server can print to its own printer, it's working, and you'd then configure the server to let the rest of the LAN make use of it. That's a two-parter, allowing CUPS through the firewall (*), and configuring CUPS administration options related to sharing (**), * On my LAN, all the PCs are trusted explicitly, so I took the easy option of setting the firewall to trust eth0 as a whole, rather than particular ports. There's another barrier between the LAN and the internet. Firewall on each PC get in the way of print serving, and also some print clients. As I recall, it got in the way of automatically discovering the print server on the LAN. The print server can periodically announce its presence, but the firewall stopped that. ** Share out that printer to the LAN but it doesn't need sharing to the internet, unless you have a mixture of different isolated subnets, where that option will allow crossing from one subnet to another. Perhaps you might want to allow remote administration of the server, and allow users to cancel any jobs, but that's icing on the cake, it's not needed just to be able to print. You may also want the server to include printers on other CUPS servers, if you had other ones on the premises. But, again, that's not needed. And can get messy if you have several servers publishing their own printers, plus republishing the other server's printers. On the clients, you shouldn't need to do anything. They should automatically find out about all the printers available on the LAN, and automatically list them as printable to. This should take a few moments, not ages. All you should have to do, if you had more than one choice, would be to pick a default. Having said that, if you're reconfiguring a system which already had printers configured all over the place on the clients, you'd want to remove all those configurations, and then let them find the servers by themselves, again. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ uname -r 2.6.26.6-79.fc9.i686 Don't send private replies to my address, the mailbox is ignored. It has been in the broken deps reports posted to the packager and rpmfusion-developers list. Perhaps if you read the replies in those threads, you find an answer. Sorry I'm not subscribed to the developers list, I'm a consumer of RPMFusion. And since it was released today, I just followed through with my usual yum updates. Who would have thought that they'd release something that was broken My bad. A repo as big as RPM Fusion always has known bugs -- just like Fedora, Debian and other distros have to say "okay, we need to release now, even if there are know bugs". This is what we decided to do -- especially as RPM Fusion as a whole was in better shape already then Livna was. Your info does relate to KDE4 in the kickoff menu, not KDE3.35 I presume? If this will give the ability to add a link to a script to run then this is what I need or a link to any third part application, or code that I have compiled or untarred to an area such as /opt/* If this will indeed create a new menu item in kickoff then getting an icon from there into the panel is easy. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Non-kde-app-launcher-in-KDE4-F9--tp20294108p20318578.html Sent from the Fedora List mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines
does anyone know a free vss client for fedora8/9/10?
does anyone know a free vss client for fedora? --- http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-Lists/Fedora/2005-06/1081.html VSS is certainly hideous. However, if you *must*, you must. Take a look at sourceoffsite. http://www.sourcegear.com/sos It's not open source, and not free (as in beer), but it'll get the job done Including making VSS a true client-server app rather than just a stupid shared directory with client apps using sharing file access. but now is it free or not? http://people.sourcegear.com/~jeffc/ -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines
