The rest is a few pieces for another client who doesn't care about software, but I've got templates set up for her in 2k2 and I'm in no hurry to redo them. You don't need to do this to export graphics, because you can just select the systems you want, but it's easy to create e.g. system breaks (select a barline and hit Enter on the keyboard) or page breaks (select a barline and hit Ctrl+Enter) as desired. You can also drag either end of the system to indent it, if necessary. > I found no function to alter the size of a staff, or some bars, or single > notes - is this not possible in Sibelius? [Finale] EPS Sibelius vs. Finale (was: EPS at last bla bla....)
Hi, I just played around with Sibelius (Win XP), and, as someone had told, EPS export works perfectly! Fonts ok, scalable perfectly, TIF preview as expected, everything behaved as it should. I chose "normal" EPS, and there are a lot of graphic format selections. Printed fine on my LaserJet 2100 M. BUT: I found no function to export a selection, I could only export a page. Normally I need a separate symstem or two to input in Word or Quark Xpress. So I missed a function as in Finale: Double click and highlight the selection you want to export. I found no function to edit the size of a single page to separate the symstem(s) I wanted to export, I could only edit the margins of all pages, and not very confortably, either. I found no function to alter the size of a staff, or some bars, or single notes - is this not possible in Sibelius? I must say Finale may be more complicated (doesn't bother me after 14 years or so) but much more flexible. Midi output does not work as it should (and as I set it up) BUT: EPS export works all the same So please, Coda, don't make me use Sibelius too much... cheers Kurt ___ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

RE: [Finale] {Spam} FinMac 2004c - What happened to EPS preview quality?
Johannes is correct. We were forced to use a bitmap preview because ATSUI (Apple Type Services for Unicode Imaging--the text and type protocol moving forward on the Mac) does not support the type of PICTs that we used to do. The type of PICT that we used were a lot like EPS in that they referenced a font as opposed to simply taking a screen shot. The advantage was that they were tiny and as an added benefit looked decent on screen. We opted to keep the file size small. If you want to be able to adjust the resolution of the preview (or request that it be a higher resolution), send a feature request in. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Rocky Road Sent: Saturday, June 26, 2004 9:03 AM To: Finale List Subject: [Finale] {Spam} FinMac 2004c - What happened to EPS preview quality? So I have to apply the second ones individually. Is there any way of doing this, I wonder? Sure - use metatools. Hit Shift- to choose which articulation you'd like to set for that particular key. Then, hold the key while dragging around a group of notes, and it's added to all of them regardless of whether there are other articulations already present. -- Brad Beyenhof [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://augmentedfourth.blogspot.com ___ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale Daniel Carno Music Engraving Services Quality work in Sibelius, Finale, Score and Igor 4514 Makyes Road Syracuse, New York 13215 (315) 492-2987 [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
Re: [Finale] {Spam} FinMac 2004c - What happened to EPS preview quality?
I can only guess, but I think previously the preview was using font information (which is possible afaik in PICTs) whereas now it is a simple 72 dpi bitmap. I have a feeling the new way is actually more standard. They should look ok at 100% on screen. If it really bothers you you may be able to use another app to make better previews. I have just tried this with MacGhostView, seems to work. I guess ideally Finale should allow to set the preview resolution, but as it stands I am glad EPS works at all.
