Whenever I have batch processes in Finale that come to a halt, I expect some form of data inconsistency, and go to Data Check and run the CHECK FILE CONSISTENCY. Almost every time, some minor problem is found and corrected. It doesn't always eliminate the problem (for instance, the MusicXML plugin in Win2K3 can't convert a number of my files), but it's at least something to try. -- David W. I get that too on occasion, although it's not usually all instruments. Usually it's one or two instruments hitting sustain before I catch it (I think it's missing a MIDI NoteOff signal somewhere). Hitting Pause and then Play clears it. -- Stephen L. I've had this and other more or less similar problems with my cherished Finale, like not getting any response or coming to a complete halt when there is an 8a or loco indication, and after trying to talk Finale, speaking softly to it's ear, into doing what it is supposed to do or what I need it to do I recur to a workaround I have successfully used with graphic design softwares like Quark Express which is to a) save the document with a completely different name, and if that doesn't work b) quit Finale, open it again, create a new fresh blank document with the same characteristics as the one which is giving me trouble and mass copy everything from it onto the new document, and up until now it works all the time. This is time consuming, I know, but it's a solution. godofredo Rich Caldwell wrote: I had this problem when HP was introduced, and reported it, but it remains an issue in 2005 (Mac). It'll happen, but it might take a few (or five) tries. Maybe my issue is different from yours, since I always had it, QT or Softsynth. Gosh, I was going to write, I have the same problem finmac2k4. I thought it was because I have first gen harman kardon soundsticks, but maybe not. I guess I'll just go back to not worrying about it. I had this problem when HP was introduced, and reported it, but it remains an issue in 2005 (Mac). I have found no consistent way to get it to play. I am having ENORMOUS issues with playback on the same version. I find going into MIDI menu, turn Internal Speaker Playback OFF, then on again, fixes the silent treatment. This only works for Quicktime playback. Softsynth stopped working for me when I first tried out GPO, so I think it is related to that (or maybe not?), but I haven't messed around with it enough to discover what the real problem is, yet.
