The problem has to be fixed globally in Fink. In the case of gtk+2-2.6.10, there is indeed something to fix (and it is fixed now). Currently, the procedure is to fix each package that shows this kind of error individually, once the error has been reported (there is no automatic detection procedure yet). -- Martin - Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace. [Fink-users] Gtk+2-2.6.1
ok people, I was instructed by mark to check out http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/fink/experimental/gnome/ for the ladder gtk versions, and I have, now I have also sent a email to the person described as a maintainer of that project, but I got a message back saying awaiting administrator approval so I'm not holding my breath. So here goes. I downloaded the description and patch, attempted to build it in fink, but it failed, with the same error I got when I tried to build it on my own, I researched and found the workaround for this. As I previously stated I have been able to build all these on my own. Now I love the open source community, it has helped me out a lot, and ofcourse I like the idea of things being better than the commercial products more often than not and a lot cheaper in price too! So I would like to give back. I want to help get this ball on the roll with the gtk+-2.6.1 packages, so if someone could help me with telling me how to make a patch that takes cconfig.h after configure is run, and changes the line #define HAVE_WCHAR_T 1 to /* #undef HAVE_WCHAR_T 1 */ I would like to see if I can tryr to talk some people into getting this in the unstable tree soon for other users to enjoy, plus it was mentioned in the fink-devel list that not enough people help and there are too few maintainers, so I think people that can help should. Hi, I recently upgraded bundle-gnome to 2.6.0-1 and along the way the gtk+2 libs were upgraded to 2.4.3-5. Now all apps based on gtk+2 cause a bus error when run, e.g., gnome-session, emacs21-gtk, gnome-terminal, etc. Any idea what I've done wrong or where I can start my search for problems? [Fink-users] GTK+2 non-programming Questions
Hi, I see by the package database that gtk+2 in current-10.2-gcc3.3 (2.2.1 (unstable) and 2.0.6 (stable)) is behind current-10.3 and even 0.7.0 (2.2.4). May I respectfully request an update? I'm not a heavy user/developer, but I am in a position to be a guinea pig for at least minimal testing. Can I help? Also, gtk+2 still depends on freetype2, which I thought was now deprecated because XFree86 now includes it. I'm running XFree86 4.4.0 (installed from the binaries at XFree86.org). Can I safely purge freetype2 from my system? Thank you for your assistance, as well as your continued efforts with fink. [Fink-users] gtk+2 build problems
Thanks for the help on my last problem. I have old files from other installers scatters all over my computer, which is what's causing most of my issues, I think. I seem to have gotten into a mess. I'm trying to compile gtk+2, and it looked like the problem was an old libiconv file. So I got rid of those, and it looked there was an issue with glib, which I rebuilt and installed. Now, however, the complier can't run the glib test program. checking for GLIB - version = 2.1.4... no *** Could not run GLIB test program, checking why... *** The test program compiled, but did not run. This usually means *** that the run-time linker is not finding GLIB or finding the wrong *** version of GLIB. Re: [Fink-users] gtk+2 failed to compile
Hello again Alexander and fink users. Thanks for the help so far. I haven't solved the problem yet though :( If I move /usr/local out of the way, the configure fails with an error about GLIB. I don't understand because glib2 is installed in /sw so I guess that mustn't be the real source of that error. Anyway here's the output: checking for GLIB - version = 2.1.4... no *** Could not run GLIB test program, checking why... *** The test program compiled, but did not run. Re: [Fink-users] gtk+2/pygtk2 failure
Due to numerous reported problems with pygtk2, we removed it from Fink yesterday, until somebody fixes it. This might not be immediately reflected when you do fink selfupdate-cvs, however, due to the current CVS problems at SourceForge. [Fink-users] gtk+2-2.0.2-2 failure
Dear all: I've been trying to do a 'fink update-all' (both by command line and the very convenient (!) Fink Commander) that would update to the (unstable) gftp 2.0.12-1. This now depends upon gtk+2.0.2-2. When I try this update-all, the gtk+-2 fails, looking for glib = 2.0.1. This is (of course) installed on my system, but as glib2 (distinguished from glib). Thus, the gtk+2 install fails. My system: Dec developer tools; OS 10.1.4. I am happily running enlightenment WM, with gnome-session. Best! David -- David H.
