Thanks, to you and Louis, but also I have been using Links -g for a long time and am quite satisfied. Hi! Eric as for the wi-fi I have solved the problem in an empirical way: I have long bought a TP-Link TPL-MR3020 mini router which detects available wireless networks and which has an ethernet port to which I can connect my laptop . It also has the possibility to connect - on the move - an internet key. The only problem is that to configure it and to detect the networks I need a win or linux browser because with LINKS - which I use in dos -it is obviously not possible. regards andrea Il 18.03.2021 13:55 Eric Auer ha scritto: > Hi! > >> Am just wondering if this is the current status, or some old comment: "Wireless devices connected via USB can not yet be used with FreeDOS." Re: [Freedos-user] fdnet.bat
Hi I'm still doubtful about using fdnet in DOS machine - I'm not talking about virtual box, which I don't use. I have three laptops with freedos with pci ethernet cards (realtek, Via and Broadcom) and with Nicscan I found the drivers and they work very well. It would be nice, if (as in Slacko / Puppy / linux) a program could immediately identify your ethernet card and install it on your dos-pc based on a list of appropriate pci / isa drivers already present in freedos-base (there is a copyright issue?). Ithink this would make freedos access friendlier for new users. regards Andrea Il 16.03.2021 21:41 Jerome Shidel ha scritto: > Hi, > Both of my real DOS machines also require special packet drivers. > One uses 3c5x9pd.com [1], and the other 3c90xpd.com [2]. [Freedos-user] FD13 on old laptops
Allow me some advice to install fd13 -legacy or live - on old laptops. On my old Toshiba satellite about 15 years old, fd13 is fine. However, if your laptop is old it's possible that the battery is also old, although obviously charging with the ac-adapter without interruption; and if you choose the complete installation - around 600M - it is likely that during the installation the system will shut down. For this it would be advisable to install the base first and only after the extras you want. All of this happened to me - with old laptops and old batteries- even with linux, and the only linux distro I could successfully install is slacko/puppy of only 213M. Installing a system over 500M puts too much stress on an old battery, altough in charge. In my opinion it's as if you are traveling with an old car and an old battery. You can go, but if you turn on the headlights, radio, wiper and the air conditioner it is likely that the alternator is not able to supply the battery with the amperes to continue. The beauty of fd13 is that you can install it step by step and make your own fdos system avoiding crashes!! regards andrea Con Tiscali Mobile Smart 30 4G hai minuti illimitati, 100 SMS e 30 Giga in 4G a soli 8,99€ al mese. http://tisca.li/smart30 ___ Freedos-user mailing list Freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-user

[Freedos-user] dos ethernet drivers
Hi, I wanted to ask a question about dos ethernet driver. I think it's one of the most satisfying thing using dos to go online. You know the problem: is to find ad load the driver you need, especially for laptops. Ad it's very hard. For example I still use an old Acer aspire 1300 ad I load the Via fetpkt ethernet driver ( thanks to George Potthast driver collection) and it work fine; so another Acer with Broadcom B44 odi. But maybe it is luck! Now I am trying to load a diver for a toshiba satellite with Marvell Yukon eth.card: I found the driver (yukodi driver) and it would seem to work, and system says it loaded odi packet driver and so on, but neither Arachne no Link go up on internet. I have a wattcp.cfg (My_ip = dhcp), as usual, but they fail. ( The laptop is good and goes up on internet with Slacko/puppy - I've partitioned HD). Any ideas? Or you think it's now too tiring and useless to go online with dos? (I use pure freedos 1.2 and 1.3.) Thanks for your interest. Re: [Freedos-user] yt-dl in dos?
Thanks you all for your interest in my question. Ok, I understand that it's impossible to carry yt-dl in dos. Obviusly it's easier ton use win or linux, but DOS is an hobby and it's fun to do with old PC mostly what you do with news ones faster and more powerful! In the old good days with Arachne , using ytcrack.apm was possible download video/song from youtube, but now the HTTPS site are inaccesssible with Arachne. ( to see video/song from youtube I use dos-MPLAYER, it' work fine -) Ther's a dos program ( ytcrack, from Fredmaccall - macall.net/#ytcrack -) that would make it possible, but currently I have no luck using it anymore. Do you know? [Freedos-user] yt-dl in dos?
You think is there any way to configure youtube-dl in Dos? I probe it in Linux, and in win xp - from dos terminal, text mode - and it work fine and fast, without tip and triks or publicity, and I download song/video. Download and source in http://www.github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl [1] I Know Ytcrack ( by Fred C. Macall) for dos but I have no luck with it. thanks andrea Con Tiscali Mobile Smart 30 4G hai minuti illimitati, 100 SMS e 30 Giga in 4G a soli 8,99€ al mese. http://tisca.li/smart30 ___ Freedos-user mailing list Freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-user

[Freedos-user] desktop2 in freedos
Hi at allis there anyone who did develop the desktop2 program (by F. Ritter?)I use it by many years in dos & freedos. I think it's a true dos/gui, easy suitable in freedos -save little defect- with power to associate program/file, cute/paste/copy, & make tmp batch programs etc.. I'd probe Gem, GVFM, seal and ozone but I think Desktop2 is still the most stable dos/gui. regards andrea ---Valore legale alle tue mailInterfreePEC - la tua Posta Elettronica Certificatahttp://pec.interfree.it--- -- EMC VNX: the world's simplest storage, starting under $10K The only unified storage solution that offers unified management Up to 160% more powerful than alternatives and 25% more efficient.
