Thank you. I believe our NAS supports this and is working. If I go into the user it will show they've been connected for days and shows and upload/download value. The catch is the reporting. This data doesn't get updated into the statistics until the user logs off. I'm sure it's something specific with Dialup Admin since it's built from the premise of a dialup ISP which will have typical log offs. I was just curious if there is a config or change to make to Dialup Admin that would update statistics while an account is still logged on but not duplicate data. Re: Dialup Admin
Hi, radiusd -X is of no use in debugging dialup admin. It's a PHP tool running on a web server, whereas FreeRADIUS' radiusd is a stand-alone process doing RADIUS. Their only interface is that FreeRADIUS writes into a DB, and dialup admin reads data from that same DB; the two sides of it use a common schema. You need to configure both sides regarding database hostname, username, password. Setting it in raddb/* is NOT doing any good. So, if your dialup admin throws an error - look at the web server's error log. It will help you much more. OK, so to get this working I modified the Dialup Admin functions.php3 file to use $_SERVER instead of $HTTP_SERVER_VARS and to use REMOTE_USER instead of PHP_AUTH_USER. PHP_AUTH_USER wasn't being populated, but REMOTE_USER was so I just used that. Hey Jaxx, I believe you may find daloRADIUS very productive. It's actively developed, rather stable and provides efficient and vast management control over a FreeRADIUS deployment. Quoting the Sourceforge description: daloRADIUS is an advanced RADIUS web management application aimed at managing hotspots and general-purpose ISP deployments. It features user management, graphical reporting, accounting, a billing engine and integrates with GoogleMaps for geo-locating. I was making some tests with the freeradius 2 install, and found that the creation schema for the badusers table for dialupadmin (in the /dialup_admin/sql/mysql folder) has 2 problems: # # Table structure for table 'badusers' # CREATE TABLE badusers ( id int(10) DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL auto_increment, UserName varchar(30), IncidentDate datetime DEFAULT '-00-00 00:00:00' NOT NULL, Reason varchar(200), Admin varchar(30) DEFAULT '-', PRIMARY KEY (id), KEY UserName (UserName), KEY Date (Date) ); The first is in the 'id' creation line. Starting with version 4.11 (I think its this version), MySQL does not accept having a default value when you use auto_increment. So, id int(10) NOT NULL auto_increment would be the correct entry. The second problem is in the last line. There is a reference to 'Date' beeing used as key, but the 'Date' was not created. There is no reference creating it. Checking version 1.1.7, the line was Date datetime DEFAULT '-00-00 00:00:00' NOT NULL,. Now, was it removed because it's no longer used, or was it removed by accident, ir should it be renamed to the IncidentDate field? I guess it would be the last option Thanks, Roberto --- Marcos Roberto Greiner Os otimistas acham que estamos no melhor dos mundos Os pessimistas tem medo de que isto seja verdade Murphy - - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? The default for sql_debug is true and I left it that way but it's not at all clear where the output goes. For example the user_finger.php page, this does a nice job once you have manually entered all of the pops into the separate naslist file but can become a royal pain to maintain. If someone could rewrite the code to extract the users online from the raddact table and simply group them by the independent nas's this would be a far simpler method. As you added additional pops to your range nothing to add/remove in the code, it simply regenerates as people log in from that pool. If you are using sql to keep radius client info then you don't need to do any extra work, since you already have your clients added in the table for freeradius to function correctly. What you are suggesting isn't a lot of work. The idea was to have more information than just the ip of the nas server though (like description, ports available). In any case it could be added as a configuration option I have done a very similar thing with the failed logins page. Have the sql query dumping failed logins into the postauth table from the radius process and then have dialup admin failed logins script running an sql query against that table instead. Re: dialup admin coding - help required
I don't have an environment to test this, and, I'm no PHP expert, but, I've got some similar stuff working, and, I suspect that the changes below might work for you... You can't include PHP variables in HTML text outside of the ? ? tags and expect them to be interpolated. Generally, it's just easier to use PHP echo statements for things that require variables to be interpolated. Below is an example of your code with this resolved. No guarantees, but, hopefully it points you in the right direction. In case you don't know, pretty good documentation with examples for PHP can be found at www.php.net. Re: dialup admin ippool administraton
the sqlippool module in cvs does this.. This module sounds interesting - something I haven't take into my considerations keeping the dynamic ippool data in the sql-db, too. And it's obvious to do it this way using a primary and a backup server. But the configuration information like range-start etc. is still stored in the radiusd.conf. My idea was to put these configuration information for each ippool into the mysql-db. Some background information for better understanding :) My task is to migrate from MS-IAS to freeradius. Thus people are used to do administration tasks with a GUI. :) At least normal production administration tasks should be integrated within a GUI. Putting configuration information into a db would save the parsing and editing the radius.conf by dialup-admin scripts. best regards, Olaf - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? My platform is: Fedora Core 4 Sendmail 8.13.4 Apache 2.0.54 MySQL 4.1.16 PHP 5.0.5-2.1 Freeradius 1.1.0 I've also followed the instructions for the dialup-admin, and have run into a problem. When I view servername.com/dialup-admin, I can see the first page just fine, but when I click on any link on the left, the right side just turns white - nothing displays. The home link brings me back to the A web based administration interface for the freeradius radius server page, but no other links seem to bring anyting up. Here's what I did: 1. Copied the directory dialup-admin to the /user/local/ directory 2. In /var/www/html I created a simlink /user/local/dialup-admin/htdocs named dialup-admin ln -s /usr/local/dialup-admin/htdocs /var/www/html/dialup-admin 3. I did not do: [1.3.2.2] Creating a more secure web interface. - wanting to make it work first, then will start securing it. 5. One of the features of Chillispot is to authenticate based on MAC address first before checking username. This sends the MAC as Username and a pre-determined password. I have this working fine, but the problem is that Dialup Admin will not accept usernames with dashes in them. Every time I try to edit a user like 00-0E-35-A8-25-9F, it changes the name to 000E35A8259F which of course does not exist. Anyone know of a quick fix for this? If not, I will send some patches for this and a few other problems I found with Dialup Admin. I just hate delving into a project like this when there is the possibility of a fix existing. Hi Further to my previous post, I managed to get around this problem By default, md5 passwords are generated without the key appended. To solve: Change the file /usr/local/dialup_admin/lib/crypt/md5.php3 from ?php function da_encrypt($passwd) { return md5($passwd); } ? with the following ?php function da_encrypt($passwd) { $salt = NULL; for ($i = 0; $i 8; $i++) { $salt .= substr('0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ', rand(0,61), 1); } $salt = '$1$'.$salt.'$'; return crypt($passwd, $salt); } ? However, when creating users through the dialup admin, the password is stored in the database without the salt key for md5, and this is causing the users' access request to be rejected. Re: Dialup Admin, general questions [customization]
Thanks for the reply, some of this I figured out, and some I have more questions on. . . comments below. Is there any additional documentation besides the README file? I see nothing in /usr/share/docs/freeradius about it. Also, I have a few questions that may or may not make sense: dialup_admin includes a doc folder, which contains a HOWTO file. It should be listed in the help page. admin.conf also includes *A LOT* of comments about each directive. I'm blind or something, didn't see it before, I will read through it. Also, try using the latest cvs version of dialupadmin Is it much different than the version from the latest distribution package? 1) When adding a user, I'm prompted for all the radius attributes for each user. Isn't this what radgroupreply is for? If I leave them blank, it puts it into radreply anyways. Puts what exactly? The stuff from user_edit.attrs :) Got this one figured out. . . Just comment out what you don't want to show up. I want to use radgroupreply for everyone that doesn't have custom radius replys (which will be virtually no one) to save database space. How can I do that? You create groups. You then specify the group the user will belong to when creating him. Ok, I see where to create them (I didn't before, blind again I guess), but how does this correspond to things I've got in radgroupcheck? When I try to add a new user, not all of my groups from radgroupcheck show up. The custom radius replies only show up when those items are uncommented in user_edit.attrs, however there is a PHP error if that whole file is commented out. Answer to my own question: The group must already have a user assigned to show up in the show groups or new user pages. However, you can type in the group name and directly edit the group, to add the fist user. Then it shows up everywhere it should. By disabling everything but Simultanious-Use from user_edit.attrs, I got resolved the problem of putting all the useless attributes into SQL when they aren't necessary, oddly if I leave it blank, it doesn't insert a row into radcheck (which is perfectly fine) - though the other things in user_edit.attrs were inserting rows even when blank. Perhaps it depends on the attribute. 2) User Profiles, we do 'unlimited' dialup, but everything in here is talking about 4 hours per day and 20 hours per week?? I don't even see where to change those settings at. See at the end of admin.conf. Currently unlimited counters are not supported in dialupadmin (yet). admin.conf says for The value should be in seconds or none for nothing so I'll try none out and see how it works. dink, dink, dink Seems to work well. 3) I can't edit anything in NAS Administration. I presume I should be able to add/change/remove NAS units from here? When I click a unit, the info comes up, but it is read only. I can DELETE the NAS, but not add new ones or change existing information. This section just generally doesn't work right. Enable sql debug to see exactly what's happening. What's the error message? Well, I wasn't looking at it in depth enough. I can't change the IP address, but I /can/ change anything else. However, I still can't *add* a new NAS. Am I missing something, or is the function not there? 4) I've got multiple realms loggin in to one NAS unit, I notice that in the statistics, there is no differentiation between realms. Can I make that happen? One realm is NULL @psctelcom.net and the other is @terraworld.net Most probably patches will be needed. Well I'll just have to see what I can do to fix that or get around it. 5) online users: I'm using a usrhiper, and max40xx for NAS units. I notice only cisco is supported? I set my finger_type in nastlist.conf to database for both NAS units, since it said only cisco is supported. However, snmp_finger would be better if it can be made to work. Can it? No. Patches are welcome. You can set the online users page to just use radacct directly without querying the nas first. In the docs folder it mentions that cisco and lucent are support. What does it mean by Lucent? Lucent makes a lot of gear, Portmasters, and Maxes among other things. I see specific mention of MAX 3000, so I'm going to try it with my 40xx's and see what happens. I'll also see about writing a patch to support usrhiper, though I am not very confident in my ability to do so - in otherwords, it might not happen ;) 6) Find User function doesn't work. At all - it returns no results for all searches. what's up with that? Again, enable sql_debug. Find User doesn't search by the user name, which is what I was trying to do. That would make a much more sensable default (or even an

Can we use every functions that is being currently implemented with MySQL (I hope more) ? dialupadmin is developed in MySQL. pgsql support was added just based on the php module documentation so there may be bugs here and there. I am counting on dialupadmin users to point them out. Has anyone tried to make the bin scripts in shell script rather than perl ? I don't see a reason for that. I'll try to submit some patches in order to make the dialup admin even more efficient with pgsql. That's great. Thanks a lot for your answers. The Dynamic group is allotted 2 hours per day and the Monthly group has no daily limit restrictions but a total of 60 hrs per month. My problem is the poptop pptp server (with debian's ppp) is acting as the NAS server for my wireless clients, so there is no IOS to update. Perhaps there is a way to check every hour or so if the user is connected or not? base-nas.albanywireless.co.nz Network Access Server 2 users connected 3 free lines # user ip address caller id name duration 1 icepick 219.88.249.83 - Barry Murphy 104:32:29 2 casper 219.88.249.85 - - 83:25:39 - Original Message - From: issa rabba' [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, July 27, 2004 8:13 AM Subject: RE: dialup admin replacement Ok, I will make another template for your uses, and you can change to that template -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Barry Murphy Sent: Monday, July 26, 2004 2:58 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: dialup admin replacement Thats great!!! Namely, I have similar situation (dbian woody) in which ppp hangs so it looks like user is still on-line but it is not. Regards, Ivo. - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe?
