kaa.base 0.2 (notifier and kaa.db improvements)
kaa.imlib2 0.2.2 (only bugfixes, no new features)
kaa.metadata 0.7 (refactoring, new date handling)

The source pacakges will include complete ChangeLogs. If you want to
take a look at the ChangeLog now, run 'python setup.py sdist' in the
base, imlib2 or metadata dir of a svn checkout. This will generate the

I made an AIM plugin a long time ago. My intent wasn't to chat from my
TV but to use it as a control point and for notices and reminders. You
could get a message to your desktop 10 minutes before your favorite show
starts, or use your chat window to search the schedule or set a recording.

[Freevo-users] BBC iPlayer

2007-12-18 Thread Patrick Carey
Hi, now that a streaming version of BBC's iPlayer is available i was
wondering if anyone had looked into integrating it with freevo somehow.
Does anyone know if this would be possible or even allowed under the
terms and conditions? I had a look but it wasn't very clear, at least to
me. I realise that this won't be of any interest to anyone outside the
UK but I thought I'd ask see how other people felt about this.

Thanks, Paddy

Actually that should be 'lacked', as of 1.7.4 there is a text entry
screen, used by the 'Search for Program' plugin.

It's generic and could be used for just about anything, only 1 downside,
at the moment it's only a single line of text. Check out
tv/plugins/search_programs.py and skin/widgets/textentry_screen.py on
how to use it.

Legally, in this case, I think it'd be fine. However how would the
Flash video be controlled? AIUI, the iPlayer is using a later, more
DRMed version of Flash from which it is harder to extract the stream.

Is there an API which could be driven to tell it to pause etc?

Having the BBC on-demand is *very* cool - there's so much stuff you
only find out they broadcast afterwards whilst browsing around.

Cheers,

Re: [Freevo-users] Planned releases, 1.7.5 and 1.8.0rc1

2007-12-18 Thread Duncan Webb
Freevo-1.7.5 and Freevo-1.8.0rc1 will be released this weekend.

Sorry guys for not responding earlyer but I came acros a bug that
slipped in after 1.7.3 in the webserver.
I'am starting freevo from initscript with something like:
su - freevo -c freevo -fs
All seems wel but if I restart it it from a ssh console and close the
console the webpages are all giving errors, if I keep the console open
or use screen all is well, it's in 1.7.4 and 1.8.x from the same timeline.

This is most likely caused by the print statements in the webserver code.

My guess is that you have plugin.activate('www') in local_conf.py, What
happens when you disable the plug-in?

I don't know why this plug-in was ever written, it seems a daft idea only
to run the webserver when the freevo GUI is running. Better to start/stop
the webserver when the machine is boots/shuts down. IIRC having two
methods to run a server confused me at first.

One way to resolve this problem is to use GNU screen
