Chris, I think the general impression here is that this would be a great product aimed at the high end market! Put your system next to a cheap set of B&W 603 speakers (£500) and a cheap Arcam Alpha 9 (£400) amplifier and I'm sure you will revise your impression of "Almost Perfect" I think that will rule you out of the high end market! Have you looked at some of the stuff from KISS technology? Its quite heavy duty! The idea of the sleek aluminum case is excellent I think that is what your competitors do! When I last looked into this I liked the nano-itx motherboards which use the VIA eden processor! No fans and native TV out off the board that leaves the one PCI for a TV card! If you are serious however and want to commercialize the product you should look at using Windows Media Centre Edition! If you are in the world of academia proving concepts and tinkering stick with freevo! Well, I hope I have not offended anyone mentioning Windows personally I'm 100% freevo! I also use MPlayer1.0pre6 on a debian system, no problems here... You can get more debug information if you set the following in your local_conf.py DEBUG = 1 CHILDAPP_DEBUG = 1 Maybe you find a hint there. Moreover you can find the exact line which freevo uses to start mplayer with all options in the debug output. Try that command from a shell. Maybe it is one of the options freevo uses, that is responsible for your problems... The problem I’m having is that MPlayer is working from the command line but not from Freevo. I think that this is because I’m missing gmplater. I’m just wondering which apt-get option will give me gmplayer. I must appologise I’m not too familure with MPlayer. My other system which is based on mandrake worked out of the box! I have also looked at what is > passed to it from freevo. This looks ok too. > Freevo is the latest version and MPlayer is 1.0 pre 6. Have you installed mplayer from source? It sounds like mplayer works but gmplayer doesn't. Maybe you had gtk installed when compiled, but for some reason you have upgrades/uninstalled some important libraries and gmplayer doesn't work anymore. It won't popup a window complaining about this. To get some more info, just launch anything from console. You will see more error messages. [Freevo-users] Problem with MPlayer failing to play media
Hi, I’m sorry that I don’t have specifics with this currently however, I have installed Freevo on Morphix (debian) I used the apt-get to install freevo. The problem is that mplayer will not play! It also does not give an error message. This is the same for both MP3 and AVI. Mplayer works fine from the command line. I have also looked at what is passed to it from freevo. This looks ok too. Freevo is the latest version and MPlayer is 1.0 pre 6. I know this is not much information! What information would be useful to help me resolve this? I have been using freevo for a year now. This is the first time I have tried to run it from Debian! [Freevo-users] Multi Displays.
Hi, I’m not sure if this is the best place to post this but here goes…… I have a TV which is the main display of Freevo. Its very good! I currently use a remote control however, I was thinking about using a second touch sensitive display to command freevo. This would be a “nice gui” big button thing which could also display things like track position chapter etc… Has anyone thought about this? RE: [Freevo-users] Freevo Survey
I simply started from scratch and built the receiver and implemented the PS2 interface using an Atmel microcontroller. This allows keys on the remote to send strings, or ctl-alt-del for example. I was going one level weirder -- usb to kb/mouse adapter, ripped out of it's molded casing and soldered directly to the board from the keyboard receiver, plugged into a motherboard usb header, and the ir sensor out on the front of the case. Which was neat for the week or two that it functioned. I haven't re-investigated yet. --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: IT Product Guide on ITManagersJournal Use IT products in your business? I have a problem whereby sometimes my CD-audio cd does not get detected. I think that this is becuase I do not have a constant internet connection. Can someone give me some advice about configuring the CD audio so I can listen to CD's if there is no connection or if there is a connection.
