Re: How to control fan on Wallstreet in OS X ?

I use Gauge PRO from Newer Tech. on OS 9. My Wallstreet is currently
running 131 degrees F.

Nils wrote:

Does anyone know how to control the fan in the Wallstreet?
An application for either OS X or OS 9. And by 'control' I mean a program
that can either turn the fan on or off. Or check and change the thermal
thresholds where the fan does turn on or off. I believe because the fan
is not turning on and circulating cooler air, it is causing the laptop
to overheat.
I'm getting tired of using the laptop on the couch and having it get
really hot and completely freeze. The solution to this has been to
disconnect the power, let it cool down for a few minutes, then power
it back on.
Also, what program can be used to report the CPU temperature?

To bless the system, take out the Finder and the System file and put them

Move the System file and Finder back.
A blessed system folder have a mac symbol on it and an unblessed one is
normal.
To copy invisible files, use an file app like Shareware Synchronize Pro
thatg can copy invisible files. There should be some way to do the same
with freeware.

More memoryyou need more memory. Under OS 9, 7.02 runs quite well
when you can allocate a bunch of RAM to it (like 32 megs); in all
versions of Netscape there's been a RAM threshold above which it will
become much faster and more stable.

IAC, your system at 96 megs is choked for RAM anyways.
 Bruce;

Thanks for the input. I have tried using virtual memory with no
improvement, then went to ram doubler with some success. I have set
Netscape memory to 55 megs. Will monitor for a few days. Thanks again.

If you downloaded the full installer, it may be corrupted. If the

I'd also do a Disk Utility check of both drives. (and how well does

 Thanks for the response.
I have tried this and can send to the desk top computer, but am not able to
print from the Wallstreet. Can you be more specific? This is my first try at
wireless networking.
Thanks

Need Help w/Printer Sharing

2003-01-20 Thread Bill Buckhaults
I have OS 9.0 on a Mac desktop and laptop. They are collected via a
wireless D-link router and a pcmcia Orinoco Gold card. File sharing
works fine and internet connections, through a DSL modem, function well
on each machine. The Apple LaserWriter 300 printer connected to the
desktop via a serial cable works fine. I have tried for days to share
this printer with the Laptop, but no luck even though the printer is
selected in the chooser on each machine. Any help will be deeply
appreciated. Reply on or off list.
thanks
Bill

Wallstreet Problem

2002-06-10 Thread bill buckhaults

I recently had my Wallstreet II in the shop to
replace the board that contains the power cord
receptacle. After repairs, the computer ran hot,
gave trouble shutting down, trouble starting up,
etc. Took it back to shop to find the processor
board was loose. The tech pushed board in place
and machine worked fine. Now the battery is
discharged and computer will not recharge it. I am

out of town for several weeks and the Tech is not
helpful at this distance. What can I do to make
Battery recharge? Any and all suggestions will be
appreciated. Am useing a friends pc to send
this.(ugh).
