Adobe InDesign CS on 14-inch G4 iBook...
Seriously, folks, is it just me or is InDesign CS really the most awkward and un-intuitive Adobe product ever made ? I can't believe that I un-installed QuarkXPress for this. I can get the amber light to stay on for about 10 minutes or so but it does not seem to charge the battery. What portable are you using and how depleted is the battery when you recharge it and what are you doing with your computer while the computer battery is charging up ?? What makes you think that it is not charging and what happens after the ten minutes ? When the 110volt AC power suply is plugged into a wall receptacle the light ring on the computer end of the AC adapter cable connector should be EITHER amber OR green when plugged into your computer. If the light ring in the connector is neither of these colours when plugged into your computer and into the wall then it should be replaced. right now my iBook battery is fully charged. If I unplug the iBook and use it for a long time or if I play a whole DVD on it without supplying auxiliary external AC power, the drain on the battery will deplete it down to 25 or 40% and I will have to recharge it. I connect it to the charger that came wuith it. While the light ring on the power connector is amber the iBook battery is taking a charge. If I turn the computer COMPLETELY OFF and close it up the charger will bring the battery back up to 100% and the light ring will turn green in about an hour or so. If I plug it in to recharge the battery but I continue to use the iBook while its recharging it can take considerably longer to recharge the battery. If I completely discharge the battery every two months or so and then charge it back up to 100% it gives me good performance. M _ Designer Mail isn't just fun to send, it's fun to receive. Re: Can bad RAM cause video problems?
I have a Wallstreet that was running fine--no video issues at all. I just picked up a 128mb module and installed it while still in OS 9. I noticed a red outline or glow around dialog boxes after the install but didn't think much about it. I then installed Panther via XPostFacto and now the video issues are even more common. When moving over the dock I see shadows or small rectangles that are left over. It's almost like the refresh is slow. Also, buttons and objects are redish purple. So, can the RAM be causing this behavior with the video? Or did I pinch a cable when I installed? (Which doesn't seem possible) And when you start up the computer off a PRE-OSX CD do the video artifacts disappear ? Is your drive partitioned and can you start up off the OS9.1 System and turn VM back on ? M -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... -- From: K [EMAIL PROTECTED] Running DW 3.02 on a Pismo 400 and iMac SE 400 (Graphite)...Both running 10.3.4 No problems at all.. Regards, Mike K The problem is that the 1 GHz G4 iBooks came with Panther 10.3.2 installed and they WILL NOT BOOT from a disk with anything less than OS 10.3.2. Its not a case of what operating system the Mac is running, but rather a case of what system must be on the utility CD in order for the iBook to boot from it. Therefore all of the utility CDs with previous systems to 10.3.2 on them, like DiskWarrior and most TechToolPro CDs (previous to version 4) will not boot the G4 iBooks. They work on the Pismo and iMacs because DW CDs probably have system 9.1 and / or 10.2 on them. M -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... When I hit Send using Mail (panther 10.3.2 on G4 iBook) the computer makes a strange sound, in stereo, of the message whizzing off into the great void. Thiis is the only souund effect I've ever heard from this program. Are there any other sounds in the Mail program ??? M -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Thats OK...thanks anyway. I have Jaguar on my other Mac...which is a Daystar Genesis. They did away with the Disk Copy utilityit became a subsection of the Disk Repair utility!!! I could send you a jag version, or link you to the apple download page, but I have no knowledge of jag utility anticompatibility with panther. I don't see why it wouldn't work. e-mail me back if you're interested. -Dylan -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... COPYING CDs in the Finder
Maybe I have not expressed myself well enough... All of my previous CD copying experience has involved using external DC burners and Toast. I could make a perfect copy from an original CD in my CD-ROM drive to the blank CD in the CDRW drive using the Toast Make Copy command. Now I have this new 1 GHz G4 iBook that has a Combo drive in it. What do I do now if I have a CD that I want to make an exact copy of. (Please excuse dangling participle) What goes into the computer first, the original CD or the blank for preparation ??? If I have to stick in the original first , what do I do with it to create a disk image before I eject it to make a copy of it that the Finder can use to make the duplicate? Why isn't this info in Mac Help in the computer ?? M . -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... CD burning question: G4 iBook
Very simple I'm sure but I have never had to do this All of my previous experience with burning CDs using Macs has involved VST or LaCie USB external burners using Toast. I just got a G4 iBook which has a CD burner / DVD player installed in it. Can someone point me towards a simple procedure or write-up about how to copy CDs using a Mac like this one with an internal CD writer and Panzer. New Character Enters...
I just joined this list this week because I bid on a 256 MB 20 Gig Pismo 500 on eBay on Monday and fully expected to win it. Well...I didn't. Then I saw a PowerLogix accelerated Pismo with a 900 MHz G3 processor with a Buy It Now of $799.00 on Tuesday. I emailed the seller but by the time I got back to make a bid a couple of hours had passed and someone else grabbed it. I was really ticked off about missing the second one. My wife insisted that I stop playing around and so I ordered a 14-inch 1 GHz G4 iBook with 60 gigs and 640 Megs from the Apple store on the internet.. It arrived about half an hour ago via the screwiest FedEx setup imaginable. The FedEx site shows it going from Anchorage AK to Taiwan to Memphis TN to Winnipeg to Mississauga to Scarborough all within 72 hours. M -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and...
