EBay always has them also the Mac wireless cards.

I know I can get hold of them in the UK so if you have no luck in Sweden
drop me a line and I will locate one for you.

Malc do you have any Orinoco cards.

you can use the airport software and the signal on them tends to be better

I would do the following.

Have the express base station connected to the wimax box but position it so
that the stereo can be connected to the stereo port as-well and use that as
the main net distributor, then use the imac and powerbook as normal. And put
the extreme base to connect the imac rev b also put the printer for the
complete network in the same location as the imac B and share it wirelessly.
As the express is 802.G you will not lose any speed over the extreme if you
use it in place of the extreme.

My set up is similar only using 802.b and g mixed.
I have a Netgear router connected to a cable modem No other wires connecting
a g4 sawtooth and a g4 ibook both running panther, also a 3400c powerbook
running 9.1. Just connected in the last two days a g3 imac running X via a
graphite base station the base station is acting as a bridge to the Netgear,
and there is a lexmark photo printer connected to the sawtooth witch all the
Macs except the 3400 can print to. The 3400 prints to a folder on the
sawtooth then it is printed from there. I want to use the imac for this but
at the moment cannot seem to get it to run it is seen but just not able to
print but it will work soon.

Good luck with you home network?

Re: Slightly OT 802.11 question

2005-03-14 Thread vicki Duggan
Hi what book is it going into?
because you can strip down the orinoco cards.
my i book has an orinoco card with the black end cap removed.
I removed the ibook airport card retaining clip and put a piece of
electrical tape on the under side of the keyboard where the card
touches, also on the metal base under the keyboard. placed the card in
and it sits on the shelf part of the book nicely, connected up the
antenna the put back the keyboard. you get a very slight rise in the
center of the keyboard, but it does not touch the screen when closed
and you need to keep the center locking catch for the keyboard locked
to hold it in.

It has worked fine since i done it in November last year no problems
and i never turn the ibook off (just to sleep). and i use the airport
software under X to run it.

vicki.

Re: Lombard cd-rw?

2005-03-09 Thread vicki Duggan
Hi the Lombard is a lot easier to get an internal cdrw for, also if you
are prepared to change the drive housing's yourself? it is cheap
as-well!. about £40 - £70 on ebay.
I used an external firewire drive that came with a G4 powerbook (i
think it was a fire lite drive) The internals where matsushita i think.
all you need is that the internals are the same size ( ie a 3.5
extermal cdrw is not going to fit in a drive bay for the lombard) but
an external slim line or travel drive might. and the connecter on the
end is the same. the fitting is very easy and someone on this list has
a to do page on it ! own up who ever it is.

Re: Installing OS X on Lombard

2005-01-16 Thread vicki Duggan
If you get a single stick of PC100 sdram at 128mb and put it in the
lower slot 10.3 should load fine.

PC 66 and PC133 are no good it must be 100. I do not know why but that
was the only way i could get panther on my 400 Lombard when i had it.

After the install i just put the ram i had back in and it was fine
running but for the install it had to be Pc100 sdram.

my mail does get through

2005-01-16 Thread vicki Duggan
Hi this is to see if the mail problem i have has been sorted,
Every time i send emails to any of the lists they get bounced back to
me after about 4 days (that is if i reply to a mail) when i compose a
new mail instead of reply some times it gets through sometimes not.
Fingers crossed this will! At first i thought that it was my system but
i can receive mails no problem and also send to everyone else no
problem. So i blamed my ISP because they said they could not give me
online support in OSX or even useing a Mac as they had no tech's. I
have just received a mail from my ISPsaying it is the lists fault for
not answering and receiving the mail.

what is happening.

Re: A magical wireless Box. . .?

2004-07-24 Thread vicki duggan
If it is going to be wireless! why all the connectors? that is defeating the
object i thought that ( wire - less !) meant that wireless.

you just have a receiver next to the internet connector (airport hub) and a
card in the mac no wires needed.

no need for connectors or cables if your little box has all those connectors
on it for different things. Why don't you just call it the (OCTO box now
with display support and Wireless). or you could call it (Back of the TV box
with enough connectors for any cable! make your own spaghetti junction.!)

I think it might not exist my friend!

Re: Using a WallStreet as a TV?

2004-04-06 Thread vicki duggan
I Think that in theory this should work but do not quote me.

plug a pcmcia video capture card in the laptop connect the card to a video
recorder and a ariel to the video .Then tune the video via the recorder to
the channels and use the video remote to select the channels.

Use apple video player software. All the mac is doing is displaying the
video feed but the video recorder is doing all the work.

should work.

Re: how do i add ram to a kanga G3?

2003-01-16 Thread vicki duggan
Hi to replace ram in the Kanga you need to undo the 3 retaining screw's on
the base. Then lift the Keyboard off from the touch pad side first, it will
slide forward a couple of mils then out. Be very carefull not to slit the
keyboard cable. The ram card is on the left as you look into the mac and
should look like the one you are putting in only with less chips.

Be careful when you insert the ram card and make sure that it is seated
properly? once seated the best thing to do is start the mac without securing
the keyboard first just put it in place, if the mac boots then you did it
right. Then you can shut down and secure the screws .

You should need a torx 8 suze screwdriver for the job.

If you need any help mail me off list I will be glad to walk through it
again.

Victoria.
