Re: Update Netscape for Pismo?
Curious though...how come you aren't running MacOS X on your Pismo? Because if you are, you get the goodness of Safari right there in the OS. Pismos run MacOS X very well. All you need to do is get some more RAM in there I have 320 MB of RAM. Sufficient for Netscape 7, or not? I'm not running OSX because the software that I use for my photo business only runs on OS 9 for now. They have not updated for X yet, but are working on it. -- Regards, Les -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... It is definitely sufficient for Netscape 7. I would strongly suggest going the Mozilla route because Moz is a bit leaner and faster than the AOL-packaged Netscape. I ask mainly just out of interest - I keep track of photo software (professional hazard) and I wasn't aware of any major tools that weren't OS X compatible by now. The comment is a note that many applications run better under OS X. Photoshop 6, for example, is much faster in classic than in OS 9. Add in the stability of the Classic/OS X set up and the multitasking now possible, and it becomes quite a different experience. I haven't booted into OS 9 on my Pismo in ... a long time, but when I did have 9 on there I did run Netscape 7 for a short time without much of a speed issue. I have a 400 with 768MB of RAM. How much RAM do you have installed and set aside for Netscape. I have 7 on my Pismo with a large amount of RAM. It works fine. I still have 4.78, but some webstires will not work. Opera is an option, and I'm sure fellow listers will chime in on iCab. I like 7. Gary Nick wrote: Netscape 7 is painfully slow on a Pismo. I know, I tried it on my Pismo 500.
