Hi.
As a tester for rr I can certainly agree with the point about having to 
learn how to play the game. On the serface it seams simple, but in time 
you need to learn that doing certain things need to be done to increase 
lap times. For example, changing gears and knowing when to shift up or 
down is a major factor in getting good lap times. Another point is 
taking the leans on the curves is a science of itself. Lean to far and 
you get drag by hitting the rail wall. Don't lean far enough and you 
loose speed as you are not taking the turn well enough.
Then, you have to do jumps. Do it to early and you may take a hard 
landing if not hitting the thing you are jumping over. Do it to late and 
you probably will crash.
So I think a demo would be good, but everyone needs to understand the 
demo isn't all there is to the game. Skill is a major factor to game 
play. I am not very good at the game personally, but am improving.

[Audyssey] PROBLEM WITH WIN FROTZ

Guys, I need some help wwith  win frotz. When I press enter on the  icon
on my desktop to start up  win frotz, when sappi says press enter to
scan default directory, I press enter then nothing happens. There's no
speech. I turn on jaws and then jaws says: open a z code file. Why does
sappi not give me any game files. Why do I have to locate them with
jaws.  I have  made sure that the installation path is c:\program
files\win frotz\win frotz tts\games\ifarchive, but still sappi doesn't
give me a list of game files.

I'm using a seleron  processor with 1 gig processor. I'm using a 9 gig
hard drive, 256 mb ram, windows 98 second edition and I use on-board
sound, the sound on the mother board, not from my sound card. I play
games on my mom's computer when I visit her sometimes and on her
computer sapi perfectly tells me  the  list of games when I press enter.
I'm not sure which  sound card, processor,  and hard drive  she uses but
she have windows xp home and also 256 mb ram. 

IN the games itself, I  frequently battle to  understand words sappi
pronounces. I just feel, I can't make any sense of a text adventure if I
don't understand the word sappi speaks, especially if it's an object in
an area. Isn't there a way for  sapi to spell a word for me? If not, can
you recommend any free  text adventure  to use my screen reader with so
that I can  spell each word I don't understand. It's fine, if I then
don't understand the word I can look it up in word web, but now I can't
find any way with sapi to get   the word spelled.

Any help is highly appreciated

[Audyssey] problem with light cars

I'm battling with light cars on my computer. When I install it I get an
error: error creating a sound directory c:\program files\lighttech
interactive\sounds, this function is only available in win32 mode. What
does win32 mode mean? Is there perhaps something wrong with my windows
setup? Is there perhaps system files missing? Why does it give me this
error?  When displaying this  error, it asks me if I want to continue
setup. I said yes and it completed the installation. The game works, I
manage to start the game, I manage to drive my car,   but some
behaviours in the game is not functioning properly.

Any help would be highly  appreciated

I'm planning to buy myself tank commander. I will get the demo to see
what its like. . I would just like to ask: is tank commander also a game
where you walk in a maze like sod  where you kill  your  enemies while
moving around in a  maze with passages?

You end the level by crossing the bridge. You have to do it just right 
or you will hit the bridge abutment, the pillers, that hold the bridge
up.
It is pretty easy to cross it, but you have to be in the right sector 
and facing the correct direction to do it. Smile.
Do not blow up the bridge. That will end the game faster than anything.

Its open ground combat. Except one of the missions does take place in 
a town. Where you have to drive around the streets and hunt down 
other tanks, and then find the way out of town.

Now this isn't a bad idea. Being able to buy and play before full 
release. In some cases this does help the developer find more bugs 
that are over looked, and can hipe game sales by word of mouth " This 
game is great." from those that have it.
You might want to think about 1 or 2 laps on a mid size track. So 
they get the idea of what it can do, but not more than give the game 
away.And a audio play of the other type of tracks of what it can do 
extreme style.

I've never had a clue that the rain can be as complex as this. I've always 
thought that the only thing it did was the disturbing sound. Would never 
think that it could effect the enemies performance as well. :-)

Hi Chris,
I've never seen this happen before. Believe that the tank always moves out 
of your way or it's simply impossible to do it. I think that it was rather 
an object intercepting your way. The tank was firing at you from behind it, 
from the other side, so that its own shells fired back at him. LOL!
Is this possible? Think that it would explain this town typical situation a 
bit better. Just to inform you. :-)

I cannot remember the exact directions, the exact number of turns and so on, 
but once you are on the road, it's always best to follow it straight ahead 
until you can, then take the last turn before a city wall, and so on. I 
think that when you drive along the road, you will first pass one or two 
turns, so take the last one. Then there are three or four upcoming turns and 
the last one is yours leading to the north gate, but I might be wrong. This 
is just a clue, hope it helps. :-)

Anyway, I don't know if I am trusted, but I am certainly an experienced 
reviewer. The only problem is that nobody from this community is aware of my 
reviews, cause I do them in my native language for my friends (besides the 
one of Savage GAmut I am currently working on) and especially have no place 
to put my works for download.

Hi Folks,
The enemy tanks in Tank Commander have a delay between spotting you and 
firing on you so their turret turns to you.
If the enemy turret was facing away from you at a city intersection it could 
not fire on you right away.
Then when you hit it you caused some damage.
The real damage to the enemy happened when the enemy tank fired at you but 
it was in the radius of the blast.
Some of the enemy tanks have thinner armor than you so it was knocked out 
before you were.

I have been able to reproduce your error in one condition. The 1002error 
only happens it I try to escape out of the intro. If I let the intro 
play until the menu options loads there is no problem.

Hi.
No GTC is a tank game. Most fighting is on a battle field. Although, 
there is a level with a town you have to navigate through and if you 
want to call it a maze it is sort of one, but it is a town not really a 
maze.

I also had the same problem. The sound were far to low for real play. I 
turned my mixer settings and headphone volume all the way up, and it was 
still a bit low for acurate playing.

Hi.
The rain is there to reduce visability. So you can get away with a heck 
of allot in the rain you would not be able to do otherwise.
 So take advantage of a rain storm when it shows up. You can escape 
enemies, move in quick and take them out, or engage your main objectives 
while the enemies are blinded so to speak.

David disabled saving on the 9th level since that makes winning the game 
much much easier.
If you could save after blasting each boss, then you could keep trying 
different techniques until you got them all.

That is a feature of the game. To make area 9 more challenging you can 
not save that level. If you die you have to return to area 8 and try again.

[Audyssey] GTC mission 2.

Hi all.
At last I finally purchased a copy of GTC, but can't make it through 
mission 2 with the town. I am having troubles attacking and retreating 
from the enemies tanks, and can not restock my shells.
So here is a list of my initial questions.

1. Which is the best way to dispatch an enemy ammo truck?
2. How do you capture the ammo the truck has?
3. How do you take out the enemy tanks?
It seams to me I always get pinned with one behind and one in front and 
they do a good job of hammering me.

Well, as for the trucks and the ammo, use your machine gun, and drive 
towards the sound of the truck trying to start. If you want to cheat on 
ammo, press control z and type abcea.

[Audyssey] GTC Intercepting the train.

Hi all.
One quick question. Where can I intercept the train? I can not find it. 
I have tried about 20 times to find it, but always get bogged down in 
battle with tanks or bunkers, and by the time I get clear the train is 
gone and game over.

Well, one thing you can do is to drive slowly forward and activate your 
cruise missiles. Fire at the bunkers. You might want to use the weapon cheat 
i mentioned earlier. Once you've destroyed them, it should be easier, but i 
don't quite remember how to actually get to the train, although i have done 
it.
