Re: [Audyssey] Sarah was Dark is Baaaack!
Sounds great! Is the fantastic beasts book accessible in any form, as far as I know there isn't an audio, and sinse it's a graffic novel, I suppose it wouldn't exactly translate. I was also rather disappointed that the Harry potter lexican are specifically withholding information contained in that book to make people buy it sinse the proceeds go to charity. (I will admit, my views on book accessibility are rather strong). Re: [Audyssey] Sarah was Dark is Baaaack!
Hi Tom, Spoiler, space, According to the COS book, Myrtle says the knob does not work. You need to use a password and luckily Sarah knows how to speak with snakes. Didn't you realize that in the demo you could understand what the Basilis said? I do have to add a new way for her to get out of the chamber. As for the Basilisk still being alive, I think the one Harry fought has a mate! Before opening up the chamber though, you need something that will help you in fighting it. As a matter of fact, there are three ways to defeat the Basilisk in my game. But that information will only be forced out of my petrified hand. There are clues to all three ways in the Chamber of Secrets book. The one I like the best combines two magical concepts that even J. K. Rowling did not consider. The first part of that clew comes from the FANTASTIC BEASTS, AND WHERE TO FIND THEM book. David says I should get a royalty for generating more Harry Potter book sales after my game is released. smiles, Phil - Original Message - From: "Thomas Ward" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Gamers Discussion list" Sent: Saturday, January 06, 2007 8:10 PM Subject: [Audyssey] Sarah was Dark is Bck! > Hi Phil, > Let me guess. Re: [Audyssey] a good Mud game
Hey A mud I would recommend is achaea, dreams of divine lands or just achaea. It's a very in depth game with almost 30 million rooms, a great atmosphere and it's very newbie friendly with a good tutorial at the beginning. ONly 2 small problems with it that shouldn't bug you too much. 1 It takes a while for jaws to work propperly with the game propperly at first it just reads random things on the screen so you need to use the jaws curser. I'm not sure how it works with window eyes but one of my friends uses it and he said it was more difficult but you can get used to it and find ways to get arround it. The other problem is it has a strict roleplaying polocy I almost had a character deleted by saying a few out of character comments but once you get used to it it's not too bad and I quite like it sometimes it makes the atmosphere better and more real without people talking constantly about technical problems or what they watched yesterday at the movies. lol But anyways I hope you enjoy it. To prove I'm a complete Harry Potter saddo, If I remember correctly the tap wouldn't turn (moaning murtle says so to Harry), and you need to speak Parcel tung to get it open. though as a guess Sarah probably doesn't speak it -- h, I better stop here before I give away the solution or Phil might be coming after me with a big stick. Re: [Audyssey] Dark is Baaaack!
Hi Thom. I very much hope audio game maker continues for that reason. I would love to personally learn a programming language myself, however from what I've picked up about programming I'm fairly certain that it would take me quite a lot of time and energy to learn, especially sinse I'd be interested in developing the more complex exploration type of games. Unfortunately at the moment my life is stretched out betwene writing a Phd thesis, and some fairly major singing and stage commitments, and that's not to mention all the game playing, Dvd watching, reading and other random fun stuff I do as well. That's why I'm so interested in Audio game maker. Looking at the world of Ameter main stream game developement, there are various tools available from basic levels editers that can muck about with in game elements (ala the dyna man grid Creator), level editers which can create custome elements graffics and sound, and what also appear to be fully blown game creators. Lots of games are written fairly quickly with these sorts of things, (literally thousands), and I'm very much hoping that something similar in audio games will be able to do similar sorts of things for ameter developers. Hi Phil, Lol! it sounds like a nasty bug you have there. At any rate I am excited to see Sarah 1.0. I am waiting on the edge of my seat. Tell her to hurry up so she can come visit my house. Re: [Audyssey] Dark is Baaaack!
Hi, Let's face it. Audo Game Maker isn't going to be as feature ritch as using a fully qualified programming language. If the gamer wants to flame the devs for not including a save feature he or she should just sign up for a programming service like Safari and learn how to really learn to program. I'd personally like to commend the folks for designing Audio Game Maker is it is the first real step to making a low cost and easy way for amature developers to begin writing games without having to learn everything that is involved with programming. ___ Gamers mailing list .. Re: [Audyssey] Dark is Baaaack!
Hi Phil. I appologise if my random labyrinth references got slightly weerd. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, in fact slightly too much so. On the day Half blood prince came out I got to gether with several of my friends for a streight 18 hour read through, with muggins providing propper coffee. It took us from ten in the morning until five the next morning, but it was deffinately worth it - particularly sinse Steven Fry's audio version didn't appear for a further six weeks. Needless to say, that's one of the things i'm most looking forward to about the game. Sorry for the minor confusion. Beware the Grue! Re: [Audyssey] How To Help With Making Audio Game Maker II Project AReality(was: Dark is Baaaack!)
Well that's certainly no problem on my part. I have several game ideas already looking at what's there. Perhaps larger games could even be split into several password protected game files, with you getting the password to the next part of the game at the end of each file (this was done in some old If games before saving was invented). I'm stil having minor trouble sinse the game accessibility forum won't send me any E-mail at all (including passwords), but for the feedback and such as well as game creation I'd certainly be glad to help. Hi Dark, I was inspired originally by the movie Labyrinth and I used the Sarah name and like the music so I put that into my Sarah game. But I mainly based the game on the Hogwarts castle of Harry Potter. So if you have read those books you will get lots of clues as to what to do, like in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. Hi. I know I've posted ideas for games in the past, but if they were to be developed, they'd need to be updated. That's not true with this idea, though. Indeed, For the Atari style games I certainly think it's a good thing (I already have thoughts reguarding bringing Smash Tv into the realm of Audio). However, for some of the more complex things I wanted to try, audio Prince of Persia, Audio mega man, audio Zelda style etc, I think I'll have to hope work will continue and a save feature will be added. Hi Phil. The list on Pcs games is always my first port of call when it comes to audio game related news, I believe I've tried just about every game (certainly every link), there is on the list. When doing work I actually have to keep myself off the Pcs games list. Hmmm, I think just as there's anti-virus software, someone oiught to write an anti-destraction program, which shuts down access to anything interesting on your computer or on the net for several hour a day. As to Sarah, If an Army of Goblins, the Bog of Iternal Stench, and David Bowy standing on the cieling and singing can't keep her out of places, you might have a problem -- or is that a different Sarah? Seriously, goodluck with the debuggeration, it's almost a year sinse I played the beta, and that was pretty good on it's own, but if the recent clips are anything to go bye, I think the full game will be fairly fantastic. Btw, Have you considdered releasing the documentation ahead of time? That way, not only will everyone be able to download and start playing streight away, but also it'll defffinately contribute to the anticipation factor. I personally love reading game documentation before I play the game just to considder what the game is like if nothing else. Beware the grue! (and david bowey). Re: [Audyssey] Dark is Baaaack!
>From what I understand, it all depends on how successful the February release is. If they can get more funding then there will probably be a followup release. I for one am going to do my part to make it as successful as possible. Can't promise any donations but I would assume positive feedback will have a bearing on what happens. I'm already working on my first project, a simple title tentatively titled Froggie's Feast, based on the Atari game Frogs and Flies. Actually it's already looking like a success in my book, since it might already be equipedenough for me to bring some of my old Atari favorites to the AG market. It'll just take a little tinkering to get it the way I want it. Note to self. First AGM project: Audio Frogs and Flies. Must find SFX... Hi Raul, Just listened to your play and it is great that even the mighty Raul has the same problems I do on this table. Just checked out the high scores and the top score for this table is 434 million. Holy smokes that is great. Rich - Original Message - From: Raul A. Dark days indeed, ha ha ha. As to why we should beware the Grue, ask any adventurer in the Interactive fiction world of Zork (play it online here): http://www.ifiction.org/games/index.php?cat=2 I am also writing a song on the subject, here's a sneak preview of some of the words: "Beware the Grue, whatever yee may do, he'll bite your thighs, suck out your eyes and on your bone's he'll chue. Re: [Audyssey] Dark is Baaaack!
Hi Dark, I was hoping that Sarah would be out the door before Christmas, but it seems she wants to stay at my house until I get all the bugs out of her. First I tried a quick bug spray, then I dumped her in a bath tub of rade. I kicked her out the door and locked the door behind her but then she climbs through the window. Then I take away her key to the door and she goes out and makes another key. So now its up to David to put a barrier up so she can't come back in. These are clues to the game bug that has me pulling my hair out and losing a lot of sleep the past two weeks. I did take time yesterday to update my web site with the new games released after New years day. http://www.pcsgames.net I note at the top of my home page the date a new game goes up on my fantastic games list to make it easier to search for them. Because sometimes I'm too busy to move the new games to the top of the list. Re: [Audyssey] Dark is Baaaack!
Hello brian. I did notice the manual doesn't include anything about save options, but I was under the impression that this would come in a later release. I'm rather bothered about what you say reguarding a second release of the game maker not being so certain, sinse I was under the impression that it would be an ongoing project with more modules and features added over time. If the developement of the Game maker is going to stop with the feb 1 release, I'm not sure how useful it will be for developing the more complex games like rpg's. but what ever happpens, resorting to flames is not a good thing - particularly when the thing hasn't even been released yet! Re: [Audyssey] Dark is Baaaack!
Well, on February 1 we've got Audio Game Maker, but the dev's already getting flames from a guy who's annoyed that the first release won't include the ability for players to save their progress in the games we make. The fact that a followup release isn't definitely in the cards was also a sore topic with him, since it means we might not get a save feature at all. I personally agree that a save feature should be optional in our games, particularly RPG style games, but I'm not gonna flame the dev for not making it part of the first release. Hello people. it's been slightly longer than the two weeks I originally said I'd spend at home, but never mind, I had a very scary crushedness, and I hope everyone else did as well.
