Re: [Audyssey] more bugs in treasure mania

2007-03-25 Thread Ken the Crazy
I caught nine in my last game using headphones but lots got away too. The
big bug I just found was that I was getting ready to send my score--15000 on
medium, when it crashed. Oh man that sucked!

As far as I know they've been taken down. As for the shadow stone I found
one in the third proving grounds contest, but I don't know of where else
you can find one. Maybe someone knows more than me about different
adventures in the game and can help you better. I still had three
adventures to do involving Runeskin's accomplices, but at least I managed
to get one of the black gems so maybe that'll help.

Re: [Audyssey] Raceway was Montezuma's Revenge

2007-03-25 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Gary,
I extremely value your opinions. That said I don't know how much of what
you will tell me will make it to 1.0 release. Things like track editors,
multiplayer racing, etc are all cool, and I am not against them. I am
however bound by getting this production out in a timely manner and many
of the things you mention would add to the time in development as well
as additional time in researching various docs on how to add track
editors. However, I am open to the idea of having an initial release and
then building on to it as you said by adding rtracks, different types of
racing, editors, network play, later on as the game grows and I have the
cash to put better workmanship into the game.
The sad thing here is that James North took all the preorders for this
title, kept the cash for it, and so I am doing this all with personal
funding and no outside funding.
You can be sure I want to do my best on making this game, but I need to
make some cash on it before I really throw myself on the project and add
all the bels and wistles out there that can be done.

 Hi,

I was looking at some of the games for sighted people for windows
 mobile
 5.0
and pocket pc. I think now that msp is out, mobile speak pocket, games
should be made for this platform. When I get my own pocket pc I'll see
 if
the winfrotz program works with msp. But I think it'd be nice to have
 some
small audio games made for the ppc also like space invaders or
 something
like that. Hey, I wonder if Lite-tech interactive could use vb6 and
 port
some of their games to ppc windows mobile5?

Thanks rob.
Now I'm getting the hang of it. I collected 6 treasure chests and my score
is 2820. But there's an enemy in the game you didn't made mention of in the
documentation. It sounds like a chopper. But I can escape it by dugging
with control.

[Audyssey] quiet doors in Sarah

2007-03-25 Thread Neo
Hi folks,
I've noticed a strange thing in the demo.
Is that supposed to be like this, or is it a bug?
I've located two doors that make no sound at all. I don't know where one of
them is but I can give you directions to the other one. I wonder that maybe
more doors like this can lead to that darn magical object I've always been
missing to complete the demo.
Now where the first door is, just so you can check it and see if they are
quiet on your computer too.

If you continue ahead past the broom cupboard door, you'll be able to see
the ante chamber door on your left after a few steps. It leads to a room
labeled office, and when I move across it, there's another exit that leads
to the staircase down to the basement, the one which leads to the kitchen
entrance.
Thanks,
Lukas

Oh something I forgot. how do you guys distinguish special chests from
normal ones? I also think it's not good to have a bomb blow you up when you
grab a special chest and not being able to escape it. Why should we have

that.

What i find difficult to do in this game is catch the fish. They don't seem

I can't find the huffle puff room and the kitchen. I found the picture of
the fruit bowl. Can I do something with it? It seems as if there is only 2
entrences to the basement. If I take the one entrence the only room I find

if I take the other entrance the only room I can find is a classroom, sarah

Re: [Audyssey] Raceway was Montezuma's Revenge

2007-03-25 Thread Gary Whittington
Yes, that a good mode as real drivers do testing during the off season to
not to learn how to drive but test things out get to know the track and how
the car responds with out traffic.
This mode would be called more like testing.
Nest mode is to learn to move around a certain track with traffic, its help
to see how your car handles with other cars during drafting and see if any
adjustments needed to the car to say save gas or tire wear.
This mode is normally called fast laps.

Once you feel you got your car right for a race its time to see if your and
the car is good enough to qualify and what position you deserve.

This could be done different ways and should be an option in the game.
Daytona has a complete differnt way to qualify for a race, besides the time
trails they group the line up SNp or Standard National Points.
This race alow many different racers in to the race as long as they can
qualify, from Nascar drivers to sprint drivers.

The lineup does not have to follow down the line where the fastest is first
and the slowest is last. Main events lineup can be finalized by having Heat
races and this allows a more competitive racing in the feature race.
So, going this route, would have you needing not only race in a heat race or
two of them, you need to place well enough and to survive to get in the
feature.

I admit that do want it takes to make the game a game where made only two
players can play head to head would make this a premere accessbile. I would
also request to have the game opened ended as Top Speed to allow add ons
like able to add Classic Nascar cars, sprints and trucks. Later a tool can
be added to include a track builder for those may want to have differnt road
courses, short tracks, and why not if one wants a lot of wrecks a figure 8.
AS a fan of Clay racing I then also could build a track of clay with
sprints or late modles or even Six bangers. I know there is interest in
this type of racing and if your going to have Nascar cars racing in the
rain, and icy track then your not to far from racing on Clay. If the
weather conditions change for Nascar so does the surface of a clay track, in
fact it always changes.
And when the time comes I am willing to anser questions on certain aspects
of racing on clay. Charles can give you knowledge about open wheel racing
on clay.
Raceway not only be a revenue getting game off the assembly line but can
bring in more cash for years to come with add ons. Why? There is so much
love for racing and passion for the sport that when add ons are avilable
those who truly love racing will want to get as much racing run as possible.
What ever the learning curve there may be in the game at first can be
hadled with modes like many other games The Raceway game certain help in
ear and hand control, but as you are trying to do is a wonderful thing to
bring a feeling of what its like to behind a race car.

Smiles better put on the brakes, you know me I like to give my feedback and
this email is getting to be as long as the Nascar Rules Handbook.
But its been some time, to express myself on what the guys would like to see
in RaceWay that are passionate about the sport.

Re: [Audyssey] treasure mania

2007-03-25 Thread Robjoy
Hello Nicol,
When you're able to hook up a chest, your detector will make a constant
alarm-like sound. When this happens, you have to tap the down arrow until you
hear your hook connects with the chest. Then, tap the up arrow to pull it
onboard.
In the next release, we'll have a sound index, so you will be able to know
which sound is for what.

HI
I can't hook up any chests. I managed to catch 2 fish but I can't hook up
any chests. The detector's sound is confusing me. Sometimes I hear a bell
sound but pressing the up and down arrows does absolutely nothing.
The up and down arrows is suppose to hook the chess, but it doesn't work.
Home and end doesn't work either.
The sounds is great but I can't get the hang of those treasure chests.

I fully understand and I appreciate that explanation. It really does make
sense to me and it is frustrating because since you, like me, lost vision
after being able to play a game with sight is harder.

I used to play those highly graphic games and loved them and never had a
problem dropping $5060 for a game because that is what I enjoyed.

Now that I am getting older some of the games that are out for the blind
don't interest me.

I love Sarah by Phil when it was in beta status but after playing it for a
while determined though it was a awesome game and a awesome job done with
the game it did not interest me enough to make me download and by it.

I see all the people commenting on the game and how awesome it is but again
not my type of game. Phil did a great job and he needs to be commended.

I understand Tom and appreciate gain your time in writing the email

I will look forward to whatever comes out and hopefully one day maybe sport
games can come out and hopefully once you have everything else done you will
have a opportunity to work on raceway.

I respect every one of the programmers who do this for a living or extra
money and marvel at there abilities and wish I had the time and age to teach
myself.

I tried but just don't have the drive it takes. I have a family and a job
which encompasses my life. I don't have time sometimes to do the stuff that
is required of me for work so a new trade or such world be impossible.

Thanks again and keep p the awesome work! Not only you but every programmer
with those special skills.

2007-03-25 Thread Davy Kager
Well Phil, to be very honest, I've found myself many times just bumping the
Sarah into walls rather than playing the game.

Further, Peeves's sound is just cool, especially the stupefied one!

Hi Nicol,
Peeves is described as making the sounds of

I wanted Sarah to say something when bumping certain objects, and that is
what I came up with.

[Audyssey] treasure mania

2007-03-25 Thread nicol

Re: [Audyssey] Side-Scrollers vs FPS.

2007-03-25 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Lisa,
Part of that is do to the fact virtual 3D audio isn't as perfect as real
3D audio in life. In order to reconstruct it you truly need 3D earphones
or a set of 5 speakers spaced equally around yourself to get the real
sound of the FPS environment. It can get pretty expensive for some
gamers so using stereo headphones and regular speakers won't cut it.
I thought about doing my FPS titles in a true 3D environment rather than
2D as is SOD and Sarah, but that would add an element of complication
for most users. In addition to the left, right, forward and back, you
would also have up and down directions which really would or could get
confusing.

[Audyssey] Sarah order not visible in the shop account

2007-03-25 Thread Neo
Hi list,
I've e-mailed the Draconis sales department concerning this same question
but I thought maybe I could get an answer from here faster.
A friend of mine just created a shop account using my data for the most part
and purchased Sarah for me using his credit card. However, although he got a
message about a successfully performed transaction from his bank and there
were no errors when he submitted the order form, now, about 18 hours from
the purchase, I still can't see it in my account. My order history says I
have not yet made any purchases.
So I just wanna make sure that nothing went wrong with the order, that it's
just waiting for Josh to process it manually. I mean - do orders appear in
the history only after they've been processed manually? I'm not complaining
about the slowness of the process or anything (there must be loads of orders
coming in these days), I just wanna make sure if it's normal that I can'T
see the purchase yet.
Thanks a lot,
Lukas

Hay it's Jason known as Blind Fury
I would probably pay 25 to 30 dollars for a game but if the game has a good
sound quality good, story line, it also depends what the game entails then
you can judge what price to set it at, if you make a sound trailor and a
review that tell us about the game, People will show interest.

Re: [Audyssey] filtch is getting me!

2007-03-25 Thread nicol
Mr. Rivard
You understand me incorrectly. Let me rephrase myself. I'm not complaining
that 20 minutes is too short. I was trying to get the point across that the
manual said that your 20 minutes is up once you get the howler, but in fact
it is up when filtch gets you.
When filtch catches you before the 20 minutes is up, then it means he
catches you because you did not ran away when your d key tells you he is
close.

When your 20 minutes is up, regardless of what you are doing, or where you
are, the demo ends. Of course, if Filch catches you before that time, it's
also over.
