[Audyssey] level5 of tarzan junior
Hi all Over all I must say tarzan junior is a great game. I want to tell you about something in level5. Big Spoiler Space If you read the manual you will know that it say if you hit the chest with your weapon you will get unwanted surprises. Well, its not that I do not believe what the manual says, I just wanted to see exactly what those unwanted surprises are. Of course, I first saved my game before hitting the chest. So I draw my spear and I hit it a few times and a whole bunch of enemies appeared. So I killed them all and then I hit the chest again and I broke it. You will hear glass breaking. And then comes the unwanted bit. Tarzan dies. The timer goes off prematurely. If the player's time is up then the mountain caves in and kill the player. Well, sometimes if you hit the chest, the mountain will cave in and kill you even though there is still time left. I must say I liked that sound of glass breaking. Of course I loaded my saved game before I hit the chest as I do not want to waste a life after hitting the chest. I haven't tried destroying the chest with my sling shot but I assume the same will happen. The good thing is, you will not get the unwanted surprises if you hit the chest one or 2 times. Say for instance you hit the chest per accident one or 2 times then it will do nothing. But if you hit it multiple times one of those 2 things will happen. Re: [Audyssey] super liam versus danger city
All right! All right! Let me rephrase. Level2 does not exist, but once you complete act3 of level1 you hear the intro to level2. In other words, you hear the game character walking in water and then you hear an elderly man speaking to the game character and then you hear a car passing by. Then the synth voice says:intro level2 act1 and then the program exits. That is what I meant. -Original Message- From: gamers-boun...@audyssey.org [mailto:gamers-boun...@audyssey.org] On Behalf Of Charles Rivard Sent: 06 August 2009 01:14 AM To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: Re: [Audyssey] super liam versus danger city I don't understand your meaning when you state: "I heard the intro to level2 which does not exist", although I have not played the game. Re: [Audyssey] super liam versus danger city
Hi Bryan, Well, like I said James North's code was fairly easy to read and understand. Plus he gave me a lot of documentation on Montezuma's Revenge which helped. The biggest problem was he designed this graphical level editor to draw levels for the game which wasn't accessible in any way, shape, or form. Plus I had already heard at that time that with Vista coming out Visual Basic 6 was soon to become unsupported. I felt the game needed to be rewritten from scratch to fix both issues. Then when I was almost ready to release Montezuma's Revenge I got sacked with a cease and desist letter regarding the Montezuma's Revenge copyright. One of those cases where if I didn't have bad luck I'd have no luck at all. [Audyssey] Side-scrollers was super liam versus danger city
Hi Charles, Interesting you bring that issue up. One of the big questions I get asked from time to time is will I be making any more side-scrollers. While I've personally had mmy heart set on writing a big 3d FPS type game engine it seams quite a few here like side-scrollers. Many feel as you do that there aren't enough of them out there to satisfy the market. I will admit the idea of bringing back some of the classics like Castlevania, Double dragon, or Megaman would be kind of cool. Re: [Audyssey] super liam versus danger city
Hi Jim, Smile. Well, it can be like that for every programmer really. thing is we all have our own particular style of programming, naming conventions, etc and when we read someone elses code it throws us off stride so to speak. It makes the developer think like the other person, pick up his or her thought process, which can be difficult when it isn't the way we think or work on a program ourselves. For example, you mentioned you don't use the "option explicit" flag so the VB 6 runtime uses non-typed variables. That's ok for you since you already know what data type you plan to store in that variable, but if someone else were to read your code they might get confused as to the specific data type you were using the variable for. Is it an integer, double, float, all of the above, none of the above, etc. I'd have to read over your program a while to figure out how the variable was being used which would be time consuming. For me I'd find it easier to read someone elses code when I can look at the beginning of the sub and see x, y, and z are all integers. Since I program that way naturally that's one of the first things I look at when looking at someone elses code. I want to know what data the variable is suppose to hold and what exactly it is doing with the data. Cheers! Jim Kitchen wrote: Hi Thomas, It's a good thing that I do not plan for anyone to take over my projects. The only thing that I can say, is that I have never had any trouble getting back into any code that I have written. Oh yeah, I also do not use the VB6 option explicit, thus do not even declare my variables in the beginning of my project. Guess it's a good thing that I do not work for anyone writing the code or as I said plan for anyone else to ever use the code. Hi, I tend to use shorthand variables like pd and ct, but I write a variable/function index that I or others can refer back to when working with it again. Saying that though, I have recently started learning C++, so I shouldn't need to do that once I've grasped all the concepts I need for my new adventure (excuse the pun *smile*). Thanks. I played danger city again last night and its really next to impossible. And the bad thing is. Eventually I managed to complete act3 but the bomb still went off. I heard the intro to level2 which does not exist, but at the same time I heard a mine in front of me which means there is a big bug in the game. For those of you who haven't played danger city, level2 is where the character meets an elderly man who is about to tell him how to start his new mission. And the game character is walking in water. And then a car passes. The sound of a land mine is not suppose to be there. Although I like the sound of the land mines its much more difficult to jump over a land mine in ddanger city than it is to jump over obstacles in super liam. And the game gives me enough time to complete the escape levels such as the volcano and water escape. Thus super liam is light years easier and more comfortable than danger city. Well done liam. Hi Michael, Well, one browser based game you might like to try is Sryth. It has a huge number of quests, lots of stats, and there is a lot of free content. Subscribing to a paid guild membership will give you more quests, better stats, gear, and so on, but if you want to play it with a free subscription you can. You can find it here. http://www.sryth.com As far as free audio games goes just about every accessible game developer has one or two you can play. Here is a few developers that offer both commercial and free games on their web sites. First, my web site http://www.usagamesinteractive.com has a few free games for download, and I have several more I hope to be adding to the web site in the not too distant future. BSC Games has a couple of free games like Deecout and Bobby's Revenge that you can get from their web site. http://www.bscgames.com GMA Games has a few free games such as Mind Buster and Solitaire as well as a few commercial games that you can get from their web site. http://www.gmagames.com Then, there is L-Works. Liam has a few free games you might like such as /Super Egg Hunt, The Great Toy Robbery, Duck Hunt, etc. You can get them from his web site. http://www.l-works.net As far as text based games try the interactive fiction archive. It has hundreds of text based games. It can be found here. http://www.ifarchive.org HTH michael barnes wrote: i would like to know where i can play free browser base games i do know about ffproject.com and where i can find free audio games i know about kitchensinc.net and where i can find text base games if someone out there have any info let me know --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. [Audyssey] the bonus games in alien outback
Hi all I am just curious. Those of you who play alien outback. What is the most difficult level where you were able to get to the bonus round without any landers? I can only get a bonus game after level1, perhaps level2 but no further than that. >From level3 onwards the ships descend so quickly that there is no chance to have no landers. Last Sunday I have discovered something. This is just my personal experience. I do not know about the nukes, but if you shoot a ship by means of a missile, then you won't be able to go to the bonus round. I had no landers on the whole of level1 and I shot quite a number of ships with missiles and I did not go through to the bonus game. I was taken straight to level2. So I just have a feeling its because I used missals. If anyone were able to get a bonus game after level3 or higher, its much appreciated if you can share your strategy with me to get no landers.
