Hi, I been trying to play the x-wheel game, but I can't get it to do
anything. The game comes up and everything, but I can't get it to start a
new game or anything when I hit enter on any of the choices. Is there
something I'm not doing or is this been something that needs to be fixed?
Thanks

Hi Thomas,

Yes Sir, I did put allot of work into creating the word list for my hangman
game. However I found it just as easy to have one large word list such as

apple, 3
nurse, 1
hospital, 2

Guess that the program that let me define each word could as just as easily
created 3 different word lists, but I went for just one word list with the
delimiters.

Well actually my hangman game does have 3 word lists
1 is the 13 thousand regular words list.
2 is the 356 adult words list
and 3 is the word list that you can create for the game.

However the 2 word lists that come with the game are encrypted.

Hi Michael,

As others have said, it is championship baseball, that is World Series
championship baseball which is the best of 7 games. I could tell you which
files to delete after 1 game so that you could play 1 game at a time. But I
also know that others have asked for a full 162 game season. I'm not going to

Subject: [Audyssey] Alter Aeon Updates - July 2012

We've made a lot of changes in the last few weeks, and I figured
it

was time to post a summary of the updates to the list:

- Oriol has released another version of Mush-Z, with new sounds,
triggers, and other capabilities. Get it at:
http://www.mush-z.com

- A new area has been released in the outer planar fire world.
This
high level area lies below fire giants, and tells a bit more of
their

story.

- A new part of the plane of darkness has been released for high
level players.

- New kxwt client triggers have been added for potion brewing.
The

new Mush-Z release uses these to log potion recipes.

- The thief lock picking skill has been improved by a change to
the

way locks are handled.

- Improve jaws/eloquence filters to prevent reader crashes. One
of
our less ethical players found a new set of eloquence crash
words,

which are now properly filtered.

- Allow hallowed ground to be used in more places.

- Remove poison if your life was saved by prayer for the dying.

- Add a new warrior skill, 'riposte', at level 11 warrior.
- Add a new warrior skill, 'charge', at level 16 warrior.
- Add a new warrior skill, 'jab' at level 6 warrior.

- Most hand to hand warrior skills can now hit ethereal mobs if
you're

wearing equipment with an elemental damage type.

Over the next month, we plan to add more warrior skills and
possibly

get started on some major improvements to clan code.

See you there!

Your correct, the updater does fix the version. What happens is
that every time you enter the game mushz checks it's version by
the title of a character, then if you aren't running the same
version it pops up a dialog telling you to update.

Re: [Audyssey] Ideas for Championship Baseball by Jim Kitchen.

2012-07-17 Thread Charles Rivard
Actually, the rules of Jim's game are pretty straightforward. You don't
need to know all of the rules of baseball. The game takes care of that end.
You just have to figure out which pitch to throw that might fool a batter.
Mix up the sequence. Batting is a matter of outguessing the computerized
pitcher and having good timing on your swing for good results. Other than
deciding when to bunt to try to advance a base runner, that's about it.

Hi Ben,

What do you mean the rules are too complex? The rules for Major league
Baseball are pretty simple. At least as far as I'm concerned.

I guess this is just one of those cultural things between someone who
grew up in the U.S. and the U.K. Most Americans, even those who don't
watch Baseball, are familiar with the rules and basic game play
because at some point they will probably play Baseball on the
playground, in gym class, or with a group of friends in the
neighborhood. As someone who grew up in the U.S. all my life I can't
imagine someone who doesn't know how to play Baseball.

Hi Jim,

Yes, in deed. Both your Baseball and Football game do a good job of
handling the rules and specifics for the game player. Although, I am
familiar with both I haven't had to actually had to know anything

Yeah, that works just as well. I hadn't thought about just adding a

there are are multiple ways to handle the same thing when programming.

Sometimes its better and sometimes not, but it is still interesting to
see how much variation there is in handling the same issue.

[Audyssey] Scansoft Realspeak Voices and 64-bit Windows

2012-07-17 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi everyone,

I thought I would just send you a quick message on a very interesting
development that will effect Windows 7 64-bit users. As many of you
know the copy of the Sapi 5 compatible Realspeak voices that shipped
with Jaws 8, 9, and 10 will not install on Windows 7. The issue is
that Freedom Scientific set a launch condition in the setup installer
to fail if running a 64-bit computer, but the voices themselves work
fine on Windows 7 if you get passed that error message. So what I've
done is built a new Microsoft Setup Installer for the voices,
installed them on a 64-bit computer, and am able to use them with NVDA
as well as Jim Kitchens games. So the good news is it is possible to
use the Sapi 5 compatible version of Tom, Caren, Lee, Daniel, Emily,
etc on Windows 7. The bad news is redistributing my setup installer
would be technically illegal so I can't just casually redistribute my
copy.

What I'm thinking of doing here is creating a patch so you could copy
your Realspeak disc to your computer, copy my patch over to the setup
installer, and run it to install the voices on your system. This would
legally cover my backside as I wouldn't redistribute the cab file with
the voice data but only the *.msi file which launches the setup. I was
wondering how many people would be interested in this patch so they
could continue to use the Scansoft Realspeak voices on more modern
Windows machines for games, screen readers, etc?

Cheers!

Hi Ben,

Sorry, I can't help you there. The only way I can legally do this is
if you actually own the Realspeak software disc that shipped with your
Freedom Scientific product such as Openbook 8, Jaws 8, Jaws 9, etc. If
you don't own the disc or threw it away I can't just zip up the
patched disc and voices and give them to you as that would be software
piracy. The best I can do is upload a little patch that fixes the
Realspeak software installer to allow them to run on 64-bit Windows
for people who own the original software media. My goal here isn't to
pirate the software, but simply fix the setup so people can use them
on new laptop and desktop machines running Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Cheers!

Hi Ben,

Yes, I do see your point. That said, Jim's Baseball game doesn't
require that you know anything about Baseball. You don't need to know
the rules, because its designed to be very simple. The pitcher throws
and you listen for the ball to get near the batters box, and you press
space to hit the ball. When you are out in the field you press numbers
1 through 6 to select a pitch. The game handles all the actual plays
and rules. Its as simple as a game gets.

Cheers!

[Audyssey] light the bgt fire - a course for those who want to learn bgt

2012-07-17 Thread Nikola Stojsic (NS studios)
(if want to reply, reply to my e-mail not to the mailing list, because I'm
not checking an mailing list often)
Hello,

I'm going to run a bgt course on the internet which will be called light the
bgt fire.
This is going to be streamed on the skype, teamtalk, zello and probably on
someone's server if anyone wants to help about that.
All lessons are going to be uploaded and recorded, so everyone can download
if missed a lesson[s], or if just don't wanna be in real-time lesson.
A course is going to be a month long and durring that time students should
be thrown to the basics and ready to learn their own.
why am i going to run that competition?
Because i've heard from many people that they tried to read the help file
and learn from there but they can't get anything. As i can recall, manual
was
very good in my way because i had a programming basis...
We will do everything from the language tutorial and maby something another,
however I'll not be only based on bgt language tutorial.
What I mean when I said that you'll be able to program your own that means
that you'll be ready to program simple things and that you'll be able to
just expand your bgt knowledge.
We will before the start of the course set the time at which we will meet on
mentioned skype, team talk, zello and so on.
Every day, we will first at all revise what we have done last day and then
continue.
We will also practice much; I'll first tell you and describe a thing, and
then I'll force you to practice and write a code your self several times,
until I see that you got that.
A corse is going to be free; but since it will take much of my time i'll not
start untill i reached  a certen donations number.
A course is most likely to not run if i didn't have any donations, or just
too small one.
I'm planning to run that for a month; or a bit earlier; so hurry up if you
wanna support my course.

Hi tom.
thats really cool news.
I aquired the files from a friend, and I am sure happy I have them
though sadly my friend's system died, and he lost the origional cds
with the files on them so if I lose them thats it.

I would be interested for a patch though for 64 bit.
For one thing, even though I would eventually buy actual voices ivona
or something the fact is the only time I use sapi at all its for gaming.
I have tried using highquality synths on this 32 bit unit and there
are major delays and mispronounciations in the voices.

Even so to at least be able to play games would really rock.

play my game. When you are in the field you basically just pick which
pitch
to throw. And then when you are up to bat, all you do is to try to hit
the
ball. The game pretty much takes care of all of the rules. I believe
pretty much the same goes for my game of American football.

 BFN

  Jim

If you play by the rules, you're gonna miss all the fun.

Cheers!

Hi Jacob,

I know. Freedom Scientific created a special launch condition in their
setup installer to prevent the voices from being installed on a 64-bit
computer. I don't know why because once I built a new installer and
installed them the voices work fine. You have to configure them via
the 32-bit control panel if you want to use them, but that is no big
deal. I've got Realspeak Tom working with NVDA on a 64-bit system
without issue now.

Cheers!

No, not the Sapi versions of the Realspeak voices. The only Realspeak

work with games, other screen readers, and third-party programs like

Hi Shaun,

Same here. Most of the time when I use Sapi voices it is for games
like Entombed. When I got my Toshiba I was furious that the Realspeak
voices wouldn't install because when I play Entombed I like having
Realspeak Daniel. Using Microsoft Anna with Entombed just don't do it
for me.

Same could be said for a lot of Jim Kitchens games. Realspeak Tom
makes a good announcer for Baseball and Football and I quit playing
both on my laptop because I absolutely could not, would not, use Anna.
So I decided to make the Realspeak voices work. :D

Cheers!

For one thing, even though I would eventually buy actual voices ivona

I have tried using highquality synths on this 32 bit unit and there
are major delays and mispronounciations in the voices.
Even so to at least be able to play games would really rock.

Textaloud. That's why I hunted down my Realspeak CD with the Sapi
voices on it and began tinkering with the setup program. I want to be
able to use those voices on my Windows 7 64-bit machine with NVDA,
games, and other programs, and I don't want to pay Nuance a small
fortune for the same voices I already have.

Cheers!
