Re: [Audyssey] mortal kombat 9 (2011)
Not too much in terms of tips for the game in general. Most of it is pretty self-explanatory. There are a lot of audio cues which you can take note of and use. I'd recommend going through the tutorial, which'll get you used to how things work. And with the particular fight, just use a lot of fireballs and flying kicks. go to gamefaqs.com, and find a few faqs and whatnot so you can learn his combo strings. After that, just play smart and don't mash randomly on buttons and go purely offensive. That'll get you killed... especially against two opponents. - Original Message - From: Devin Prater r.d.t.pra...@gmail.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, December 02, 2012 7:26 PM Subject: [Audyssey] mortal kombat 9 (2011) Hi all. Re: [Audyssey] mortal kombat 9 (2011)
awesome! Since Clement alreadytackled your gameplay questions, I'll discuss headsets. You won't be able to use a regular PC-only USB headset, unless you buy adapters that'll work with your console. I haven't bought such devices, so I've no idea how well they might work. If what you want is game audio as well as voice chat capabilities going through the headset, then you should probably look around on Amazon or electronics stores. I have a turtle beach ear force wired headset, and it works quite well. there are many other options out there, triton headsets, wired and wireless headsets with and without surround sound, and so on. you should type in PS3, or Xbox 360 headsets, and see what you can find. look at reviews as well, as they'll be quite useful in your decision making. -Original Message- From: Devin Prater Sent: Sunday, December 02, 2012 10:26 PM To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: [Audyssey] mortal kombat 9 (2011) Hi all. Or... if you want a cheaper solution, just buy an rca to 2.5 mm jack so you can plug it straight into your line in and use a headset through your speakers. lol That way you can record as well, so if you're stuck you can record your playing and anyone who knows how can correct and give you advice. - Original Message - From: Yohandy yohand...@gmail.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Monday, December 03, 2012 9:02 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] mortal kombat 9 (2011) awesome! Re: [Audyssey] mortal kombat 9 (2011)
Thanks for the info. I do have Windows Vista, and will soon be getting a Mac mini if that helps, with the headset thing. I would like to record, actually. I'm really surprised and quite ashamed that soni has 2 very useable USB slots on the ps3, but yet headsets that are regular USB headsets won't support them. I really think having a headset would help a lot in gameplay. After that, just play smart and don't mash randomly on buttons and go purely offensive. Well I have Vista not 7, and Vista does not allow one to unmute the mic while having stereo mix enabled. you can only have 1 device enabled at any one time, which is crazy if you ask me. not sure if 7 has these limitations. perhaps it's not even the OS, but the sound card on my PC. Well, what I meant was when you said Vista and 7 have made the recording through stereo mix a problem... I was talking about the fact that even if recording may be a pain, listening is still easily done if you want to use headphones. Just plug speakers into the computer and run headphones through the speakers. Easy enough right? And... I know for a fact 7 does allow unmuting the mic and stereo mix at the same time. The way to do it is a bit more convoluded than in xp, but it's still there... it might just be your sound card. I know my laptop has the same problem. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] Mortal Kombat: beating tower challenge 300 the easyway.
Hey all. I don't know about the other person but I more or less need to figure out game play strategies such as they are. I know that unlike something like SSFIV or the Soul Calibur series MK is really more about aggressive gameplay than major strategizing but there still must be some things that one needs to learn besides which buttons do what. There are plenty of movelists on gamefaqs etc. to tell you about that. So for example, how does one go about outsmarting your opponent? Methinks another mainstream gaming seminar is in order. Just don't ask me to attend it in the next couple weeks my work schedule is going to be extremely hectic. Game on. Tom On Dec 4, 2011, at 10:24 AM, Yohandy wrote: Uh... Re: [Audyssey] Mortal Kombat: beating tower challenge 300 theeasyway.
Tom, That's actually rather hard to explain. Remember, you're fighting a human being, not a machine. And us humans aren't too predictable a lot of the time, especially if the person's a really good player. Lots of times it comes down to gut instinct and reaction time. It's not like fighting CPU where you're like ok they're weak to this attack, so I'll exploit it. many times experience plays a huge roll as well, and how many hours an individual is willing to sink into the game. A good example is when I fought some guy online with like 2500 wins, 200 losses. on ranked! guess how that match ended for me? and no I'm not exaggerating either. I had a sighted person here check that out. hahahaha - Original Message - From: Tom Randall kf6...@comcast.net To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, December 04, 2011 4:00 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Mortal Kombat: beating tower challenge 300 theeasyway. Just use liu kang, and spam fireballs right from the get go. Dirty way to play... and I feel wrong doing it. But that's the only way I've found. Timing is crucial... because if you miss the button combination and the fireball does not fcome out, the AI will get right in there. The latest mk release is mortal kombat: armageddon and that's for the ps2. - Original Message - From: Milos Przic [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Wednesday, September 17, 2008 8:13 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Mortal kombat vs dc universe roster. Re: [Audyssey] Mortal kombat vs dc universe roster.
hi Yohandy, sure, this is a program to develop fighting games in 2d. if you search, there are some tutorials explaining how you do that. also, i don't know if it's accessible developing fighting games with it, but i think yes, bekause the files that you use to add functions, chars, sounds and stages are files that use text. and the games are completely playable for us. Either that, or an XBox 360, though I would get a PS3. I heard XBoxes Voice chat, and frankley it's pretty bad. Ah yes. forgot about the box. rofl. I very much dislike the xbox. it's loud, annoying, and the controller is huge and uncomfortable. not only that but it crashes all the time, and ps3 has better hardware anyway, especially now that HD is gone for good and bluray is the standard. Re: [Audyssey] Mortal kombat vs dc universe roster.
and you can't forget Liu Kang. I think those 3 characters will be in every mortal kombat game. Now that we're on mk and ps3 discussions, has anyone on this list purchased the ps3 yet? I ask because if you have and you registered for the playstation network, it would be cool to collect everyone's psn names. I was thinking that it would be real fun to have a Mortal Kombat tournament once the game is released. Perhaps there could even be prices, although I can't think of anything off the top of my head. Re: [Audyssey] Mortal kombat vs dc universe roster.
Here's more reason to have an online tournament. I just found an Ed Boon interview on Game Spy, and here's one of the questions GameSpy: Are you talking at all about online functionality yet? Ed Boon: Oh sure, the main layout is like a lobby, with rooms and there are people in the rooms and there's chatting that goes on. They can challenge each other and go off and fight. The game will announce when somebody beats someone or somebody drops or if somebody gets beat. It's like a place to hang out and then there's also this announcement, so you can hear if somebody's winning a bunch and go challenge them. I can just imagine like 10 people in one of those rooms going at it. haha! Can't wait for this game to come out! - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Wednesday, September 17, 2008 9:17 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Mortal kombat vs dc universe roster. I can take a stab at guessing already. Soul calibur has a lot in it, a lot more than MK does. Not that mk isn't fun, mind you. I like it, but there are things about soul calibur that I prefer. Re: [Audyssey] Mortal Kombat
Its not actually that the arenas aren't large enough to lose your opponent in, the arenas are really pretty huge. There's all sorts of arenas from castle courtyards to platforms in the middle of acid pits to massive warships. The arenas actually range the scale from small to pretty huge, but you never lose your opponent because its got a soul calibur style lock on system to it, where you and your opponent can only be a certain distance apart and you're always facing your opponent, so all the same yeah, you always know where your opponent is. As for switching sides, as someone said in a later message, you only really need worry about this versus other players, the computer is easily handlable. I'm not sure how the game will handle with the WII since I don't have one and probably won't for some time, but it can't be too much different. - Original Message - From: Brandon Cole [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, May 29, 2007 9:46 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Mortal Kombat Hi there, Well, I can tell you that playing MK Armageddon for the Wii is going to be a trip. I can tell you that once you get used to all the sounds in the game, you will be able to play the game with no problems. I've completed the arcade mode on all difficulty levels, including max many times. I've also played against sighted friends. Re: [Audyssey] Mortal Kombat
Hmm guess I may as well reply to this one too. lol. You can usually determine this using logic. If you're fighting the computer AI, you'll get used to their techniques sooner or later. It's only a matter of playing it many times. You'll know what to do and not do on the various difficulty levels. If you're playing a human, you'll have to be logical. If you don't hear any punching whatsoever, it usually means your opponent is far away, so you simply jump straight at them and kick or slam them a few times. Keep in mind there are sites containing move lists for most games. My personal favorite is www.gamefaqs.com Search for mortal kombat Armageddon, and you'll find an entire move list for every character, as well as info on Kreate a fatality, and anything else you'd ever want to know about the game. . Ok, thanks for the info man. So are you able to beat the computer by yourself consistently? Also, I am still confused as to how you know if you are close enough to kick or punch your opponent. I realize the two opponents are never too far away to do a projectile hit, but are frequently too far away to kick or punch. Lastly, are you saying there is a special sound made when your opponent goes over your head or vice versa? In other words, is there something to listen for to tell when you are on the other side of your opponent? As I remember from playing MK2 when I was sighted, the combinations depend on what side of your opponent you are, for example Raiden had a back, back, forward move, which would change from left, left, right to right, right, left depending on which side you are on, making it extrememly important to know if you are left or right of your opponent. Re: [Audyssey] Mortal Kombat
Hello again, Ok. Allow me to try and be a bit more clear. Admittedly, there is no one specific sound that tells you when your opponent has switched sides. However, each individual move of each individual character has its own sound with very very few exceptions. Therefore, it's possible to memorize the moves that cause you to switch sides with your opponent. Teleportation, for instance. And in MK Armageddon, a couple previous MK games as well, Raiden's teleport sounds different than all other teleports. Scorpeon's, for instance. Secondly, there is also no real good way to tell how close you are to your opponent. However, once again, there is a way to pull yourself away or toward them. Some characters have special moves that do it, but if you're playing as one that doesn't, you can tap left or right. If left is back at the time, depending of course on your side, your character will do a sort of grunt as he flips away from his opponent. This will, of course, also tell you which side you're on. If you tap forward twice, you run at your opponent and you hear the footstep sound instead of the flip. And finally, yes, I do beat the computer consistently. On max as well, as long as I stick to my real good characters. I hope that helps. I'd be happy to help you further if you need more. Game on! Che wrote: Ok, thanks for the info man. Hello, Some characters such as raiden have teleport moves that will put you directly behind your opponent. Also if you try performing a backward dash, this will provide some distance between you and your opponent. As Brandon said though, do not worry too much about distance. Mortal kombat mainly consists of attacking, then blocking, with a few parries and breakers thrown in for good measure. Battles are very intense and people don't usually run away from their opponents, unless they just like using projectile moves on ya, and you'll find out if that's the case. Let me know once you get the game and I'll help you out. Also Brandon, I can do a review for the PS2 version of the game, or a better sound file,if you're willing to host it. Don't really have a place to put these reviews - For an amazing video gaming site containing original soundtracks, game art, etc, go here. http://gh.ffshrine.org?r=16426 - Original Message - From: Che [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, May 29, 2007 2:18 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Mortal Kombat Ok, thanks for the info man. Thanks again for the info, I will post a review of the game after I get to check it out, should be here tomorrow. I personally can't wait to try it, as I have the PS2 version of the game, and would love to perform some of those special moves and fatalities using the motion controls. To answer your question though, no location information is required. The arenas aren't large enough for anyone to lose their opponent as they are in, for instance, Marvel Nemysis. The sounds of battle aren't actually in stereo for some unknown reason, but given the ease with which one can find their opponent, it's hardly necessary. The only two things one might have to worry about are deathtraps, which have sounds associated with them in some cases, and moves that cause your opponent to switch sides with you. As you may know, performing special moves is dependent on hitting the right combination of buttons. A move could be, for example, back, forward, then the C button. However, which direction back or forward is depends on which side of the arena you're on as opposed to your opponent's side. The key is figuring out which moves each player has to change sides, and paying attention to when those moves are performed. Trust me, this is easier than it sounds. ___ Gamers mailing list .. Yohandy, review away. heheh. My site can use all the audio I can get for it. People have already found it to be a good resource, and I want to keep it that way. Ok, but I know you can play the game blind, but I am asking how it is done, can you be more specific, for example, exactly how do you know when you are close enough to throw a punch or when you are far enough away to do a projectile move.
