  Booga booga!
The new Rail Racer trailer is ready for your listening pleasure.
This trailer takes you through most of the current features of the game,
as well as a two lap race so you can get a feel for how it is played.
The end of the trailer takes a sneak peek into a new set of features being

worked on now, something I think you will all dig.
The trailer clocks in just under nine and a half minutes at 3.8 megabytes.
You can find a link to it on the Rail Racer page here:
http://www.blindAdrenaline.com/railRacer
Check it out, and please let me know what ya think.

Hi,
When you release the beta, you may want to find a couple mirrors, so
that your site doesn't crash from all the downloads.

Re: [Audyssey] The Rail Racer Trailer is up

2006-05-15 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi, Richard.
One thing I can tell you from testing the Alpha's learning to take the
curves in this game are tricky.
You have to lean over to about 45 degrees, and slowly straiten up as you
take the curve. Leaning two far will result in hozing your paint job
against the rail wall and decrease your speed. Leaning not far enough
will allow you to loose speed as well. It is something that takes real
practice.
Then, there is the issue of shifting gears. You have a manual shift so
you have to know when and where to shift, and that takes some practice.

One small correction to Thomas' comments here:
The angle you have to lean depends on the angle of the curve, not
necessarily 45 degrees. Some curves require a very small and quick lean,
which presents it's own challenges versus the longer curves in which you
have to have a steady and smooth hand to maintain your lean over the longer
haul.
Just wanted to straighten that up, pun intended.

  Hi ya,
I'm not sure how long the beta will be for sale at the discounted price,
it will all depend on how many people purchase it and how the testing goes.
At least several weeks, I figure.

Hi Che,
I listened to your second RailRacer demo and it does sound great.
Do you have different sounds representing the different curves?
If you don't I suggest 1 beep for a slight curve, 2 for a 45 degree curve
and 3 beeps for a steeper curve.

Hi Phil,
rather than that, I think one tone of different lengths would be cooler and
more intuitive for the player. The longer the beep, the longer or better the
steeper the curve.

Perhaps this feature could be only a part of the easier difficulties and you
would get just one constant beep for every curve on the harder ones. I'm
sure Che will find a good purpose for it if he wants to implement it at all.

Hi, Phil.
actually, at the moment the curve effect just plays longer. Believe it
or not after you play a track enough you get use to a large curve or a
short curve coming up.

Hi, Will.
Well, when trying a track for the first few times yeah it makes your lap
times much slower and hard to get a good lap time. As you play though
like anything else you remember when a short or long curve is coming up.

Re: [Audyssey] The Rail Racer Trailer is up

2006-05-16 Thread Che
  Hi Phil,
  Thanks for the kudos.
All the curves build and fall in pitch as you travel them. Once the pitch
peaks and starts to fall, you know you are at the halfway point of the
curve. After a bit of practice, the speed of your driving hand will jive
with the pitch and therefore the correct angle of the curve.
There are also help options you can turn on and off that will tell you the
exact angle of the curve as you enter it, jump heights before a hurdle and
the like. Additionally, these help options are in mono for those that may
have hearing loss in one ear or the other.
  Later taters,
  Che

2006-05-16 Thread Richard Bennett
well I am hoping that if I can't purchase the game maybe my mom will get it
for my bday. But hopefully I will be able to purchase it. Have you any ideas
of how you are going to take orders? The reason I am asking about the sale
time, is I have a break coming up June 13, until Jul 7th and that would
give me plenty of time to play the game. Awesome job man, awesome.

All sales will be online with either a credit card or pay pal account.

Hi,
When you release the beta, you may want to find a couple mirrors, so
that your site doesn't crash from all the downloads.
