Re: [Audyssey] Thanks Tom.

2012-06-10 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Ron,

Glad I could be of some help. Unfortunately I have very little skill
with FS X and TDV myself so am uncertain as to how much help I could
be in finding a compatible controller. Most of the time all I need is
a gamepad or joystick that works with arcade games like Troopenum, and
of course I'm testing all of my controllers with the games I'm
developing. So I usually haven't had a pressing need for flight sticks
and that sort of thing. The last flight stick I had was the Logitech
Wingman which one of my dogs chewed up several years ago. Grrr...

Cheers!

I have a friend down in Sacramento California who is in the same boat that I

That's to the heard work that we just put into the current version of IYP, I

But I still can't wait to see the up grade from fs version ten to fs version

That's still suppose to come out sometime this year.
But the sad news is that even though we'll have over one hundred birds to

Re: [Audyssey] Hey tom, is it really that easy?

2012-04-24 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Ron,

Yes. For the most part if you want to run an older voice such as ATT
Crystal, ATT Mike, etc its as simple as running the installer,
installing the voice, and once you have it installed access the 32-bit
control panel for Sapi. To do that press Windows+r to open the run
dialog, and then type the command

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Speech\SpeechUX\sapi.cpl
into the run dialog, and press enter. From that point on you can set up
Mike, Crystal, Audry, Charles, or any of the AtT voices you own for
games and applications.

A disclaimer though. Although, this generally works in most cases it
doesn't work for every older voice. The Real Speak voices that came with
Jaws, for example, the setup/installer program fails about half way
through the install. The Neospeech voices like Kate and Paul crash the
system when set as your default Sapi voice. However, I can say the ATT
voices I have tried such as Crystal, Mike, Charles, Audry, and Lorn all
work good though. The Cepstral voices I've tried work alright as does
the Cereproc voices.

Cheers!

Can we just simply install the voices from the old disk that came with
jaws.
Then to get the old favorites of the old 16 bit voices to work in the
64 bit world is to use the run command and plug in the command

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Speech\SpeechUX\sapi.cpl
Could you give step by step instructions?
Now I need to go find our diskette full of the older 16 bit ATT
voices on it.

Hi,
Well, thankfully Michael's billing info and payment recete wasn't lost
in all the confusion of yesterday so I should have the key out to him
tomorrow latest. Though, I'd like to point out I am still having
troubles sending and receiving mail as I can't always get a connection
to the servers. I try to log in sometimes and the domain address doesn't
resolve itself correctly. Other times I login just fine. It could be
just because it is still propigating and hasn't fully become resolvable
world wide yet.
Anyway, the point is I popped that information off the mail server early
this morning, and I am just glad it went through. However, I don't want
to ship anything as serious as product keys out until I am certain smtp
and pop3 transfers are 100% reliable.
No, I am not running off with anyones money. I am merely trying to make
sure all of my business assets are correctly running again before I
begin taking and processing orders again. Please, excuse the disruption,
but I will be able to offer allot more services with the new host and setup.

Hi Michael,
I usually don't step in the middle of such things, but while it was
bluntly put I understand where Raul was coming from. I don't think
Raul's intent was to offend, but to be truthful and informative no
matter how it was stated.
I do have to confess some surprise myself looking through the web
archives while my mail was totally down, and seeing an email asking
about orders. Then, thinking about the fact I forgot to disable the
shopping cart while the dns and mail servers are propigating. I was
planning to announce to the list when everything was ready and back to
normal, but here I am facing this new order I was not at all prepared
for at the moment. I certainly do not mind the order, but it was
unexpected coming just at the moment I was beginning to bring stuff back
on line.

Cheers.

It was not, in my opinion, a smart remark. It was only honesty. If you
have been receiving list messages, and paying attention to them, you would
not have even asked the question because you already knew the situation.

 simple case of confusion.

First, the Yava-language that you use works not on mobile fones.

Let me try and explain this a little clearer. There is only one Java
language. The same Java used for writing applications for Mac, Linux,
and Windows is the same Java language used to program applications for
cell phones. The difference is that a cell phone requires a different
runtime library set, J2ME, which is a different package and class
structure from the Java ruhntime library, J2SE, used on operating
 systems for the PC.
It is not impossible to make a version of Raceway for a cell phone,
because the language is the same. However, it is impractical, because I
have to rewrite portions of the game to specifically target J2ME for
your cell phone, and I have already said I don't even own a cell phone
so can't even test the game if I did write it.

However, if you placed an order like a week ago you should have recieved

48 hours after payment provided of course that our emails don't get
caught up in someones spam filter or gets rejected for some reason by an

Anyway, if you can give me a specific date of order we can move from

the shopping cart while we were moving which could be a rather nasty
problem indeed.
However, if you placed an order like a week ago you should have recieved
your product key long ago. We have a polacy to ship keys with in 24 to
48 hours after payment provided of course that our emails don't get
caught up in someones spam filter or gets rejected for some reason by an
ISP's blacklist, etc. Our previous web host had several blacklists
against their servers, and ISP's were beginning to bounce all of our
sales recetes which is one of the reasons we are moving this weekend.
Anyway, if you can give me a specific date of order we can move from
their, and try and resolve your registration issue.

Yes I understood that and because of that was wondering if there would have

being proactive and asking I hope to head off a problem.

Not a smart remark, just the truth. Tom has made it no secret that he
would be out of contact and out of touch for a few days during the move
of his domain. Also, due to his trust-worthiness he has shown the
community, he's not going to be running off with your money.

Hi Michael

I'd normally not get into these issues. However Tom has said many times
over the last few days that he's switching domains. Thus we can assume
it'll be a few days until he's up and running. so just hang in there.

 Hi Claudio,

 Hello Thomas!
I have send a mail to your post-mail in a cupple of days but i think by
the
remooving of the server you have it deleted.
 End quote

My mail is in flux right now so anything sent to me is not likely to
reach me until the domain updates world wide with the new dns addresses.
However, I can still read list traffic through the list archives, and I
can respond to them since Raul has so nicely let me use his smtp server
 until things get straitened out.

 1. You have whrote, that you can send mee tutorials for using sounds in
 yava.
Why you wand send mee tutorials for that?
 End quote

Keep in mind I was getting several requests for help in Java. I'm not
sure what happened, but I thought you had asked me for tootorials or
documentation on loading and playing sounds in Java. It comes down to a
 simple case of confusion.

 quote
First, the Yava-language that you use works not on mobile fones.
 End quote

 Quote
 2. I have whrote the question:
Can i use raceway on a mobile fone?
 And you have ansvered:
 Yes, i can do so.
 End quote

Sigh, I meant that it was possible. Not that it was practical or that
I'd want to take the time in doing so. There is a difference in if I can
do something, and if I am willing to do something. Big, big, big
difference.

Hi Simon,
seems that something is majorly wrong with your installation of Sapi.
I had a similar problem.
A friend of mine created a little freeware program called Text to mp3, which
does exactly that - takes a .txt file and converts it into mp3 using Sapi,
excellent for reading ebooks or any longer documents in general when
travelling on your mp3 player, etc.
External applications that try to access Sapi have to do so through the
sapi.spvoice object, and my installation of Sapi got somehow broken one day,
I don'T know even now what was the cause of it. My screen reader still
worked, but all other appz, including the text2mp3, couldn't create the
sapi.spvoice object any more, which was causing similar crashes to yours
whenever there was an attempt to access Sapi. NOthing I could do fixed this
problem, and as I wasn't given any XP installation CD with my computer,
probably by accident, only thing I could do was to reformat my system
partition and install a system recovery I was given, making the system look
exactly the same as it was the day I got it. Only this was able to fix the
problem.
So I guess to remove any and all traces of Sapi you might have on your
system, reinstall Windows (if you have the installation CD, a common
reinstall on the top of the current system should do it) and then install
Sapi 5.1 again.
Hope this might perhaps help,
Lukas

I didn't tell you to reformat, I was just describing my own problem and a
solution to it. I was suggesting a common reinstall of the system, if you
have the CD. This should take only about half an hour or maybe an hour at
most with XP and nothing will really be changed, your data will be kept,
only the system components will be repaired where needed.

 Hi Simon,
seems that something is majorly wrong with your installation of Sapi.
 I had a similar problem.
A friend of mine created a little freeware program called Text to mp3,

excellent for reading ebooks or any longer documents in general when
travelling on your mp3 player, etc.
External applications that try to access Sapi have to do so through the

I don'T know even now what was the cause of it. My screen reader still

I believe you don't need any uninstall packs. Most of the software you have

Re: [Audyssey] for tom.

2007-07-14 Thread Neo
Yeah, you might try that, but uninstall anything that has to do with Sapi
before.
If that doesn't help, just look for your Microsoft Windows XP or whatever
version of the system you have CD, find setup.exe there in the root
directory (hope that hasn't changed since 98, as I don't have the XP disk
myself) and launch the installation. It shouldn't be that difficult and
annoying. Try reinstalling Sapi once again after the system reinstall, and
it could fix your issues.

I didn't tell you to reformat, I was just describing my own problem and a
solution to it. I was suggesting a common reinstall of the system, if you
have the CD. This should take only about half an hour or maybe an hour at
most with XP and nothing will really be changed, your data will be kept,
only the system components will be repaired where needed.

certainly Sapi 5. It sounds like your SpeechLib.dll and the game aren't

reinstall on the top of the current system should do it) and then install
 Sapi 5.1 again.
 Hope this might perhaps help,
 Lukas

  Hi Simon,
seems that something is majorly wrong with your installation of Sapi.
  I had a similar problem.
A friend of mine created a little freeware program called Text to mp3,
  which
does exactly that - takes a .txt file and converts it into mp3 using
  Sapi,
excellent for reading ebooks or any longer documents in general when
travelling on your mp3 player, etc.
External applications that try to access Sapi have to do so through the
sapi.spvoice object, and my installation of Sapi got somehow broken one
  day,
I don'T know even now what was the cause of it. My screen reader still
worked, but all other appz, including the text2mp3, couldn't create the
sapi.spvoice object any more, which was causing similar crashes to
  yours
whenever there was an attempt to access Sapi. NOthing I could do fixed
  this
problem, and as I wasn't given any XP installation CD with my computer,
probably by accident, only thing I could do was to reformat my system
partition and install a system recovery I was given, making the system
  look
exactly the same as it was the day I got it. Only this was able to fix
  the
  problem.
So I guess to remove any and all traces of Sapi you might have on your

Sooner or laterI am certain we can solve your issues. As I said now we
know the issue is Sapi we can work on fixing that issue.
Sure reinstalling XP is one possible fix, but not the only option we

Hi Simon,
Assuming you want to takethis route you would put the Windows XP disk
in, and run a repair installation. However, doingthis is dangerous if the
XP on the disk is older than the current version on your system. For
example, say your XP is 1st eddition and you have installed Service Pack
2 over top to upgrade. That could cause a number of library conflicts.

Hi,
I wasn't aware there was a fix utility for Sapi. If I knew about it at the
time when I might have needed it, I would certainly give it a try. But even
complete uninstallation and reinstallation of Sapi 5 didn't help me at the
time, so I could only reinstall the entire system from scratch.

Reinstalling WINDOWS is almost NEVER the way to go. I've only seen it actually
necessary in one out of several hundred cases I've worked with. You just
shouldn't have to do something that drastic. If you're having trouble with
something specific go to the MICROSOFT page and look for a solution there.
They will usually talk you through the fix or direct you to an automated one
that will do the job for you. If not, Google it, but be careful who gives you
advice there.

If you do decide to do a reinstall of WINDOWS remember to first uninstall your
access and anything else that gets installed with copy counts so you don't
lose them and have to deal with replacement. ANd remember before rolling back
to the beginning of WINDOWS on your machine you can always try rolling back to
different restore points . We just had a terrible mess when my husband said
yes to a microsoft update he thought was offered and something was installed
instead with 176 programs (there haven't been that many since XP was installed
on his machine. It took out his audio and flipped video without the unflip
option and whew, but a restore to a prior incarnation and all was well again
in a matter of minutes. Going off half cocked isn't just bad when duck hunting.

I have sapi4 and 5 synths loaded.
I should say though if you are using speech recognition through ms

Not that I use it or anything.
