Police harassment has increased in Colamb, Sanguem after the November 12 action 
of the villagers. Today at around 1.10 pm one protester Egyps D'Souza is taken 
into custody and detained at the Quepem Police Station.
 
The villagers of Colamb are protesting to oppose Fomento mine - Lease number 
06/1949 belonging to Hiralal Khodidas in the village that is disturbing their 
agriculture, Forest and Water bodies. Egyps has been in the forefront of this 
movement and that's the reason Police has began targeting him at the instance 
of the mining company.

of them in 7,999 villages and the rest in 4,602, urban areas.



RESPONSE: NSSO or not, unless the details of the data sample are made 
available within the context of the data gathered, the data is easily 
misrepresented.


In an Urban area like a large colony in Malad or Bandra, Mumbai, one could 
possibly find an even larger percentage of unemployed Christian women. That 
is not representative of Christian women in Mumbai.


Statistical analysis would be inaccurate unless the context of data gathered 
is made available. The population size is far to great.

I think you have jumped the horse without strapping the saddle first. We all
know that the BJP and it's allies are communal but didn't realize you were
communal too. What has religion got to do with Mrs. Alva's resignation ?

 

Religion has nothing to do with Mrs. Alva's resignation, it's discipline all the
way  and we shouldn't condone action like these, she rightfully deserved it, I
only wish our local Cell of the Congress had what it takes to do the same with
guys who left the Party for similar reasons, Monseratte and Churchill were
trying to get a ticket for her next of kin when not given, they joined different
parties and the same blackmailers are inducted into the Ministries. What does
this say about the credibility of the Congress.

 

The Congress proclaims to be Secular but I am afraid they have yet to show that
Congress is a secular Party by it's actions, I'll give you a few examples,
1)Babri Masjid, they could have easily stopped it, but they didn't, 2) Orissa,
did they do anything to prevent the carnage or what action and when did Congress
get involved to stop Christians from being butchered. For the Congress
Minorities are just a vote bank nothing more nothing less.

 

When two North Indians get knocked in Mumbai the whole Parliament rocked, where
were Mrs. Alva, her Shanu Baba and rest of the Congressman, when the blood of
Christians was screaming for help in Orissa.

 

Last election most of us voted for Congress not because we wanted them but it
was because we did not want the BJP to come to power and what did we get from
the Congress in return, rampant corruption, Mega housing and illegal mining at
the cost of Goans ?

 

We shouldn't make the same mistake over and over again. This time we HAVE to
find an alternative, The BJP nor The Congress are the answer, but rather they
have been the cause of our misfortunes. 

 

We definitely have to look for a regional Party with grit and the will to
perform for GOA and GOANS,

Abused boy tests HIV positive

Panaji: Thirteen-year-old Rahul (name changed) could well be one of hundreds of 
children in Goa, full of dreams and hopes. But, sexual abuse by a neighbour, 
and testing positive for HIV has clouded the lad’s plans for the future. 

Rahul, a shy smile upon his young face, reveals that his abuser was a 
smooth-talking neighbour, who lured him with bike rides, money and sweets and 
then abused him. If Rahul complained, he would be threatened. The illicit 
liaison, that included brutality, lasted from May to early September this year, 
when Rahul fell ill and tests revealed he was HIV positive. 

That was when Rahul’s father lodged a complaint on October 31 with the women 
and child protection unit alleging that his minor son had been sexually abused 
by a neighbour. 

The accused was arrested and tests at the Goa Medical College and Hospital for 
STD showed that the accused was HIV positive. 

“We are really hurt. Who could have imagined that a known person would actually 
abuse our child and threaten him. My son’s innocence has been ruined and his 
life destroyed,” said the boy’s father, who had heard of HIV/AIDS but knew no 
details about the virus until his son tested positive for it. 

“I had heard about HIV but never cared to know much as I never thought that 
someone in my family could be infected,” the father said. 
Even as the family is beginning to cope with this knowledge, they fear their 
son may be kidnapped by the abuser or even abused further. 

“While we suffer and live in fear, the accused is out on bail,” said the boy’s 
father. The children’s court released the accused on bail, which has been 
challenged in the high court of Bombay at Goa by the state. The appeal will be 
heard this week. 

Discrimination, family’s big fear 

Panaji: The family of the 13-year-old boy who was sexually abused by his 
neighbour now fears discrimination against the lad. 

“At present many sympathize, though a few do taunt. We are scared to let Rahul 
(name changed) play alone, lest he be stigmatized or kidnapped. None of his 
friends call him to play. He is an excellent cook, but we don’t allow him to 
cook as we are scared that he may cut his finger. We don’t want to risk his 
life or anyone else’s,” the father says. 

But Rahul doesn’t understand the fuss around him. He admits he feels angry, 
sad, scared and anxious, but he wants to play, cook and do exactly as he did 
before. “I want to play like other boys but my family members tell me that I 
should rest. I like to meet my friends and talk with them. But no one comes to 
play or talk with me. The only time I meet them is in school,” added Rahul, who 
goes along with his father and returns with him once classes are over. 

For Rahul, life is not all about hope and belief, but about the will to live 
and live “normally”. “I am fine. I just want to study, play and live,” he added.

In our present times we do not make much of royalty and we have discarded the 
trappings and structures of royalty in favour of democracy. Yet we admire 
people who are loyal and faithful to lawfully constituted authority. Today we 
are reminded that God is the ultimate authority and He commands our respect and 
loyalty not because he exercises power over us but because He constantly cares 
for us. We can show our loyalty to Him by respecting and caring for His people,

Sunday Reflections: Thirty-fourth Sunday of the Year 'Christ our universal 
King' 23-Nov-2008 
Readings: Ezekiel 34: 11-12, 15-17; 1 Corinthians 15: 20-26.28;  Matthew 25: 
31-46;
     
In the first reading the prophet Ezekiel uses one of the most popular images, 
the image of the shepherd king, to illustrate God's care of his people. He 
tries to give new hope to those deported to Babylon. It was the duty of the 
kings to care for the people and lead the people to God, but often they had 
failed. Through Ezekiel God promises to gather his scattered sheep, especially 
the most abandoned through a new shepherd who will be true to God. Now God 
himself will be their shepherd king, through David, who will lead his flock in 
the ways of justice and love.

If Only I Knew It Was You...
Nelson Mandela was still a young man when he became leader of the banned 
African National Congress (ANC). At a certain stage in the struggle he was 
forced to go underground. During that time he used many different disguises. In 
general he remained as unkempt as possible. He knew that by being so disguised 
he ran the risk of not being recognized even by his own. And this often 
happened. Once he was to attend a meeting in a distant part of Johannesburg. A 
priest had arranged with friends of his to put him up for the night.  However, 
when Mandela arrived at the house, the elderly lady who answered the doorbell 
took one look at him and exclaimed, 'We don't want your kind here!'And she shut 
the door in his face. Later when she found out who it was that she had turned 
away she was horrified and said to him, If only I knew it was you, I'd have 
given you the best room in the house. Mandela didn't allow incidents like this

In today's second reading Paul never tires of reminding his listeners of the 
power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. There were some people in Corinth 
who refused to believe and accept the resurrection. Paul counters their 
arguments by definitively stating the fact of the resurrection. In this is the 
kingship of Christ, that He rose from the dead and through his resurrection he 
enables all those who believe to pass from death to life. Paul contrasts one 
man Adam and his effect on mankind with the one man Jesus Christ and the impact 
of his life and death on all mankind. As Adam's sin brought death, so all men 
are brought to life in and through identification with Jesus Christ. All things 
are subjected to Him, even death, and He himself is subject to the Father. 
Christ's mission and kingship will be completed when he hands over to the 
Father the authority handed over to him that all may acknowledge the Father and 
God of all mankind.

being a Christian. The magistrate asked him, Are you a Christian? The 
Christian soldier replied, Yes. The magistrate enquired, If so, are you the

refused to offer any incense to Caesar. God and God alone must be adored and

body. The Christian boldly replied, You may cut off my head from my shoulder,

on the sly? This is True, it is not a rumour. Their Children are studying in

People who left Goa did not abandon Goa. They were fighting to keep body and 
soul together. Influenza, typhoid, water and food shortages ravaged Goa in the 
early half of the 19th century. What were people to do? 

Mario observes:

People tend to do what is in the best interests of themselves and their 
families.  Many Goans left the bucolic Portuguese colony, where economic 
development was almost anathema, for financial and professional survival or to 
escape the millstone of the caste system, initially to British India and places 
like Africa and the Persian Gulf countries.  After Independance many left for 
Britain and Australia, more recently New Zealand, Canada and the USA.

On an individual basis some are closer to Goa, emotionally and sentimentally, 
than others.  Some now enjoy the benefits of both Goa, where they can still 
bask in the warmth of friends and family, sun and sand, food and feni, and the 
distant places they have migrated to, since the world has become a much smaller 
place than when they left.

A round trip to and from the USA costs me less today than 37 years ago, in 
spite of all the currency inflation in between.

The triangular nexus between mining companies, Contractors and Goa Police is at 
work again in Colamb, Sanguem. Today afternoon seven people were arrested and 
till 8.20 pm they were not given bail. The key seven people in the movement 
against mining industry in Colamb have been arrested in a desperate bid to 
subdue the movement. The people includes Motesh Antao, Egyps D'Souza, Dument 
D'Souza, Shanto Velip, Rama Velip, Telu Dias and Xavier Fernandes.
 
It is indeed one of the biggest tragedy in post-liberation Goa that minng 
companies has been granted free hand to dismemeber this state through mining 
industry. Instead of Putting officials and managing director of the mining 
companies like Fomentos behind bars for ecological genocide of Peoples' 
livelihood, the State in Goa has allowed them to thrive in Goa's destruction 
even more drying up every possible water source every day.
 
Goa's rulers today are all out to finish people of Goa - lock, stock and barrel 
- and only mass revolt at this stage will change the tide.

Further to my views on two misused words: Secular and Secularism, I had
loads of discussions with my friends and equally with my foes.  And the net
conclusion that immerged out of discussion is as follows: 
In India and particularly in Goa the opposition is not to a religion but to
a calculating church which is practicing a silent invasion under the very
umbrella of a Constitution. The UPA government-and in the end India itself,
including GOA - is being taken for a ride. India's decency is being
exploited fully and there must be laugher in various evangelist centers at
India's  Goa's stupidity. 

Conversion inevitably destroys a local culture and is fundamentally
subversive in content. Conversion, especially in tribal areas, leads to
demographic disturbances which in turn lead to resentment. Resentment leads
to violence. We condemn violence without trying to seek the reason behind it
because it does not serve the interests of our secularists. 

Francois Gautier is a French journalist, born in a conservative Catholic
family but is an ardent admirer of India. To the best of my knowledge he is
independent-minded and does not belong to any political party. Which is why
an article he recently wrote for The New Indian Express (October 6) should
command attention. He was analyzing the situation in Karnataka and the
reason why there was a spurt of anger against missionaries in Kanara. To
quote him: Newlife, one important western-funded missionary centre
(http:/www.newlifeforce.org) began making conversions in and around
Mangalore by accosting poor people. befriending them and then taking them to
churches to introduce them to the Father. Upon introduction, they were paid
Rs 2, 500 per person and then taken to the Velankanni Shrine in Tamil Nadu,
where they would get another Rs 3,000. When they finally got converted by
changing their name, they got an incentive of Rs 10,000 onwards. Newlife
would then give them instructions to abandon wearing the tilak on forehead,
replace photos and figures of Hindus gods and goddesses with a Cross etc.
Gautier then presented a picture or how Hindu gods were denigrated and how
missionaries-there are apparently more than 4,000 foreign Christian
missionaries in India-brain-washed the poor. It is a revealing article. 

Biggest question is where do the missionaries get their money from and how
much do they get? 

Available information lends credence to public apprehensions. Thus it is
noted that in the year 2005-2006, these metropolitan cities, Chennai,
Bengaluru and Mumbai received Rs 753.08 crore, Rs 464.09 crore and Rs 440.04
core respectively-all from foreign sources. Ananthpur district received Rs
288.01 crore and Hyderabad-Secunderabad Rs 236.08 crore. 

Apparently, Andhra Pradesh which has a Christian CM has consistently been
one of the three states to receive such mind-boggling foreign aid. Christian
leaders smilingly point that under the Constitution, propagation of religion
is legally permissible. But what the Vatican and the various protestant
organizations are seeking is not so much the spread of Christian faith as
much as extension of the power of the church to undermine the cultural unity
of India and break up the nation-a trick that must be exposed by all
patriotic Indians. 

May it be remembered that when Pope John Paul II visited India (who was
barred from visiting China) made the point in a public statement that in the
first millennium it was Europe that was converted, in the second it was
Africa and henceforth it is Asia's turn. It was a slap in the face of India,
a predominantly Hindu country, but quiet was maintained because HINDUS WITH
GREAT CULTURE believes in the ancient dictum: atithi devo bhava-guest should
be treated as God. Pope John could not care less, if he hurt Indian
sentiments by his indiscreet comments. 

The issue today is not conversion to another faith. Rather it is the
deliberate move to break up India. Conversion inevitably destroys a local
culture and is fundamentally subversive in content. Conversion, especially
in tribal areas, leads to demographic disturbances which in turn lead to
resentment. Resentment leads to violence. We condemn violence without trying
to seek the reason behind it because it does not serve the interests of our
secularists. Kandhamal is an excellent example of this submersion. In 1961,
the Christian population there was just under 2 per cent. In 1971 this rose
three times to 6 per cent. Thirty three years

What Alva has done is an act of Party - Indiscipline and needs to be

The need of the hour is to see that all secular forces unite and dont

Being
born in Madgaon (more than 66 years ago), I have strong sentimental
ties with all that is Goan. I make it a point to visit Goa even for a
short visit whenever I find time. I never tire of praising Goan culture
as well as loving and friendly nature of Goans. However, an incident I
faced at Kadamba main bus stand in Panjim on  26th of October,
sadly,left me a bit shaken to say the least.
Around 2.30 p.m. my
wife and I were waiting in the queue to purchase tickets for a direct
Panaji-Madgaon bus when my wife notice a sign board next to the window
advising senior citizens and passholders to form a separate queue. As
there was no passenger in that queue, my wife approached the window and I
came out of the queue. However, the booking clerk flatly refused to issue
tickets to her and asked her to come in the queue. As we were too tired
to enter into any argument, we rejoined the queue at the end (by this
time 5-6 more passengers had joined the queue and we had lost our
original place). When I purchased two tickets (No:AE 0389526 
0389527) I asked the same booking clerk if there was a separate queue for
senior citizens to which he replied in the negative. When I pointed out
the notice board next to the window, he pretended to be busy issuing
tickets and refused to answer. Suddenly, a gray haired person who was
sitting inside near a table sprang up to his feet and came shouting
questioning why we were insisting on getting priority as senior
citizens when we were not. I pointed out that both my wife and I not
only clearly look like senior citizens but even had our election cards
proving our age. Sensing that he was losing the argument, he asked why
my wife had not approached the window with the age proof in her hands.
By now I had sensed that he just wanted to lengthen the dispute and
pointed out that if that was the rule then it should have been
mentioned on the signboard. All over the world, senior citizens are
treated with utmost respect and no body asks them to produce the age
proof unless there is some doubt. This is our experience at post
offices, in trains or even during air travel. By this time the gray
haired person had become frustrated as all his arguments were countered
  and was losing face in front of his colleagues. Immediately, he was
joined by a few other persons who looked like cleaners and drivers and
all of them started screaming and hurling abuses at us. The gray haired
person even claimed that he, being a senior official of Kadamba, could make
his own rules and nobody can challenge his authority. The group
screaming and jeering at us from behind the window bars reminded me of
a pack of wild stray dogs baring their fangs and barking from within a
dog catching vehicle.   As we had already got our tickets and were not
interested in entering into fights with these uncultured Kadamba chaps,
we just left the place.  This incident definitely dented my confidence
about friendly Goans but I am sure Goans in general are still friendly
and hospitable and such type of rowdy behaviour is restricted only to
Kadamba staff.

Dear friends,
The following letter was sent to the editor of GT on the morning of Friday, 14 
Nov.  but has not been published yet.  I take it as an attempt to suppress 
truth by conveying to the readers that I failed to substantiate my statements 
as demanded by Tomazinho Cardozo.  And this is not the first time; it is quite 
a habit.  But you be the judge.


Fabricated statements

Sir,
 Your sense of fair-play has touched the nadir.  You have two weekly 
calumnists who hammer on one side of an issue with a whole lot of falsehoods as 
has been shown time and time again.  To that you add your own front-pagers and 
those of your staffer Nilesh Khandeparkar.  But the other side hardly gets a 
look-in.  Their reactions are salted for over two weeks before they are 
published, if at all.  Yet, the rejoinders to these by the same calumnists are 
aired the very next day (not in their regular column!).  I have at least two 
recent letters pending with you (and a couple more I have not sent).  
Nevertheless, I am sending this, knowing fully well that you will not publish 
it.
 In GT of 10/11, Tomazinho Cardozo asks me to substantiate my “fictitious 
statements”: (1) that I volunteered to transliterate meritorious books in Roman 
script, pre-selected by DKA or some such body, and (2) that Cardozo was one of 
the two persons who were requested to shortlist Roman script books for 
transliteration.  Here is the evidence.
 My offer is found in Gulab (a monthly magazine in Konkani, Roman script) 
of Sept. 2004.  It is also found in at least two internet forums in Nov. 2005.  
I can PROVE that Cardozo has read at least one of these.   
 The second statement, as I had stated, “was told” to me.  Now, can one 
prove an oral communication especially to one who feigns ignorance of published 
material he has read?  But I have another reason to believe my informant.  In 
around 1990, a colleague had undertaken to compile and edit a representative 
anthology of literary essays.  He cannot read Kannada or Malayalam scripts.  
Not wanting to miss any quality Konkani essays in other scripts, he prevailed 
upon the Sahitya Akademi to appoint a collaborator each for Roman, Kannada and 
Malayalam scripts.  Cardozo was the one chosen for Roman script.  But even 
after repeated reminders for over a year, he did not procure even a single 
essay!  This fact finds mention in the introduction to that book.  My 
colleague, on his own, collected about half a dozen essays.  I know this 
because I had transliterated two of the Kannada script essays.  Now, what is 
more burdensome, selecting an essay or
shortlisting of a few books? 
 Cardozo says that I project myself as “a person who does not make any 
statements or allegations without proofs.”  Though I have never made such a 
claim, guess my track record vouches for that as against his.  And the possible 
reason for this difference is that, not having ever participated in electoral 
politics, I have not cultivated Cardozo’s pet habit of making wild accusations 
and then invariably failing to provide the proof; even your readers are aware 
of this.  
 As for “projecting myself as a crusader of Konkani in Roman script,” I 
assure him that I have no intention of usurping his business.

Dear Goanetters
The religious writings  on Goa net does not  interest me so much.  I once was 
invited for a birthday party of a friend who is a believer. They started with a 
big prayer service  followed by the word of God. The first part did not 
interest me as my thoughts were on what they will serve us for dinner. But the 
word of God impressed me very much. It was like a pickaxe digging into a hard 
soil .I  felt an urge to change. I wonder why our clergy do not take trouble of 
preaching Sunday sermon like that. Every where for your Sunday it is the same 
litany sung in different voices.

Macazana Priest Murder Case:  Both accused now pleaded  NOT GUILTY
 
The sessions Court Margao framed charges of murder againat the two UP natives, 
Amit Shukla  Manish Dhubey (see pics below) for killing of former Macazana 
Parist Priest Fr. Eusebio Ferrao.

Both Manish  Amit were present in the courtroom where they pleaded NOT GUILTY 
to the charges and prefered to stand for trial, which will now commence on 
Oct.17.
 
Manish was represented by legal aid consel Adv. N. Fernandes. (H).
 
The murder took place on the night of 17th March 2006.
 
 
JoeSays:  The Police and the Press earlier reported that both the accused have 
admitted or confessed killing.
So, why not plead guilty now ?
The said admittance or confession, was it a result of police so called 'Third 
Degree Torture' ?

room, when the duo followed him and Manish started asking him about a job 
opening, Fr. Ferrao told Manish that it was not the time to talk about the job 
but to sleep. Suddenly, Manish jumped on him and Amit gagged him with a pillow 
when the priest started shouting for help. Fr. Ferrao picked up a kitchen knife 
in self defence but Manish overpowered him and stabbed him till he died. The 
accused confessed to being in a drunken state when the incident took place 
between 12 - 1 am, DIG said. NT

When asked what could be the motive, the DIG said during the investigation 
Manish had confessed that he was too drunk after consuming beer offered by the

Btw, I don't make much of my 'Goan' identity. It is an accident of
history, an accident of birth. Of course, I accept it, with all the
positives and negatives that go along with it.

It is only one of my multiple identities (male, bearded, South Asian,
A+ blood grouped, journalist, etc). Goan identities have not been
frozen in time, never were. We will have to get used to the idea that
this will keep changing, however much we protest. We have the choice
of either going kicking and squealing to the slaughter, or try to ride
the wave of change and see what best we can shape it into...

I'd like my kids to grow up with some of the experiences and
situations I passed through. But it's probably more realistic to let

What's shocking about this? The media (sections of it, print but
specially television) have been sensationalising a case which was
obviously not what they were hyping it to be. Now, that they cannot
sustain it (or don't want to talk of the political interests
involved), they're making a sacrificial goat of Aires.

While Aires' campaigning style is confused or questionable, the media
itself needs to come clear with its own role in sensationalising
issues (i) where political interests are involved (ii) when it thinks
competitive blowing-up of issues will help to sell newspapers or
extend audiences. FN

PS: The media has to itself answer for not maintaining the anonymity
of the victim (held in Delhi Domestic Working Women's Forum vs Union
of India and others 1995 (1) SCC 14). This is an offence punishable
with imprisonment for two years plus fine. See Sec 228A of the Indian
Penal Code. And violating the law that when a rape trial is being held
in camera, no matter in relation to the proceedings can be printed or
published. See Sec 327 of the Criminal Procedure Code and 228A of the
IPC.

Totally agreed. My interest though is in the English language and
hence my response. I totally agree with you that we should be

But what is construed as a 'personal criticism' by one person can be
seen as mild chiding by another or as an unforgivable personal attack
by another. At best we can just try to be civil to each other.

to, in a lighter vein, caution you about the pitfalls of not
crosschecking what you have typed before hitting the send button.

Here is a popular joke, about how typos can cause major
misunderstandings, to illustrate my point:


A new monk arrives at the monastery. He is assigned to help the other
monks in copying the old texts by hand. He notices, however, that they
are copying copies, and not the original books.

So, the new monk goes to the head monk to ask him about this. He
points out that if there was an error in the first copy, that error
would be continued in all of the other copies. The head monk says, We
have been copying from the copies for centuries, but you make a good
point, my son.

So, he goes down into the cellar with one of the copies to check it
against the original. Hours later, nobody has seen him. So, one of the
monks goes downstairs to look for him. He hears sobbing coming from
the back of the cellar and finds the old monk leaning over one of the
original books crying. He asks what's wrong.

So well said!  It's one of the reasons I don't write so often on 
Goanette (sic). People start getting very personal. It is true we Indians or 
Goans are emotional people, but other people are sensitive too. We 
should respect their opinions if we want ours to be respected.
Sometimes I get this feeling, we have a peg of Fenni and then decide, 
OK, now I'm going to vent out my unbalanced emmotions. But this is only 
breeding ignorance!. The best results are only achieved when giving 
one's opinion without hurting anybody else's feelings.

I think you may agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, however 
misguided others may think those are, but are not entitled to make up their own 
facts or to misrepresent facts to suit their own pre-conceived agenda.

We have many Goanetters who live in countries where they cannot express their 
opinions in public without risking trouble with totalitarian authorities, 
whereas they can on Goanet.

If you stick to logical opinions that are based on recognizeable facts, i.e. 
facts that most people would recognize as facts, you should not have any 
problems.

However, others with the same facts but with a different context or perspective 
may not see your logic in quite the same way, which is when people of good will 
must agree to disagree.  Or others may have some facts that are different from 
yours, which may lead to different conclusions.  That is what debate is all 
about.  Of course this can get contentious at times, even without being fueled 
by Feni.

Those with unbalanced emotions or personal vendettas are better left to some of 
us with thicker skins who may be better suited to deal with those.

BTW. without entering the arena more often, I'm not sure why you think that you 
will be personally attacked, especially if you have not been attacked 
personally so far.

We need more women to engage in robust debate on Goanet.  I can count only one 
who expresses herself on controversial issues at length and in some detail, and 
can then defend her opinions against any alpha male.  She has often been 
attacked personally, but can give as good as she gets if the debate gets 
contentious.  Most of the others restrict themselves to non-controversial or 
informational posts, which is perfectly fine if that's what they are 
comfortable with.

Dear Sir,

this is with reference to todays shocking news article  stating that the 
murderers who had earlier confessed to killing Rev.Fr.Eusebio Ferrao at the 
Macasana church have been acquitted . The murder committed on the priest was 
an attack on the entire Goan community and  not only the Catholic community 
. Fr.Eusebios invaluable contribution to the translation of the ' Novo Korar 
'( new testament during the early 70s and his work among the lowly and 
downtrodden cannot be forgotten. Infact he would go out of his way to even 
help strangers like the two murderers who have now been now acquitted on 
flimsy grounds like the priests' room key appearing in their bag, etc.


I call upon all Goans to unite as one and teach a fitting lesson to the 
murderers by appealing against their acquittal because it is going to send 
wrong signals to all criminals trying to operate in Goa and who now know 
that they can even commit a murder in Goa and catch the next train out. If 
this had to happen in their state the public would lynch the murderers !


Lets wake up and appeal against this acquittal as Goans now need justice. 
Calling upon all like minded citizens to come together and do something 
about this gross injustice meted out to our community.
