[Goanet] INDEPENDENCEOF JUDICIARY IS PARAMOUNT
We all need to be part of the crusade to ensure that the Judiciary remains free from any political interference or manipulation whatsoever. The loyalty of every Judge in our country has to be only to the very sacred Constitution of India. As those in Power want to overpower the Judiciary too, there is a very disturbing disquiet over the slippery slope, down which judicial values are slithering. To ensure the highest standards of judicial independence and to ward off even the faintest trace of governmental influence on the judiciary, there needs to be at least a two year “cooling off period" for retiring judges before they accept any posting after retirement. No Government must dangle a carrot or put a price on the heads of our Judiciary or senior civil servants to perform in a way that bends the rules rather than in the public interests or according to the letter and spirit of the law. The need for the rule of law and separation of powers between the Executive, the Legislature and the Judiciary is paramount in any democracy for good governance to prevail. An independent judiciary can properly enforce the rule of law only if it is characterized by impartiality and integrity. As judicial independence of Judges rests entirely on maintaining an incorruptible detachment from the government of the day, it cannot be allowed to be morally compromised by lobbying for cushy post-retirement sinecure postings. We have witnessed instances where Judges have fixed their retirement nests much prior to even demitting office. In times when the Indian Judiciary is passing through a very turbulent phase, this “jobs-for-the-judges” syndrome could place judges potentially open to governmental influence leaving scope for "pre-retirement judgments" being predisposed by the craving of a “post-retirement job". The Constitution of India is very clear on the distinct roles of the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary. It envisages a free, fair and independent Judiciary. There is a need of concerted efforts towards propping up highest standards of judicial accountability. The Judiciary should never be manned by persons who are tilted or aligned to any political party. Judges should have the spine to crack on illegalities done by all politicians, regardless of how high positions they hold. It has to be ensured that judicial accountability is maintained at all times with every Judge conforming to the highest standards of uprightness and integrity. If Judges cannot independently balance the scales of Justice, the Temples of Justice become pointless ending up as dens of chicanery and jugglery. Andrew Jackson, the late American President believed that all the rights secured to the citizens under the Constitution are worth nothing except guaranteed to them by an independent and virtuous judiciary. Re: [Goanet] HAPPY ANNEXATION DAY of TEXAS
Doc,I celebrate almost anything and am usually the first to arrive and last to leave any celebration. WRT Texas, my friends remind me that they did not cross the border but the border crossed them. The same ranch that has been in their family for generations, was once in Mexico but now is in the US. There still are parts on the Rio Grande where you can walk across 18 inches of water to get to the other side. In the deeper parts, you need a mule to carry you across. I have done both these types of crossings. Pure desert and wild animals, on both sides, prevents you from going much further. As you know, six flags have flown over Texas. Depending on whose version of history you are reading, the events are sad or funny. However, there still is positive response of 25% when residents here are polled on the succession question. Most are Trump supporters or those with little reading and comprehension abilities. As for the man himself, he will be evicted on Jan 20th. I expect him to be indicted before the end of that month. Was born in Ocean Road Hospital (then known as European hospital) and my original birth certificate was signed by R. Bergner.. Was baptized at St Joseph Cathedral? which was run by German Swiss priests, It was known as Catholic Mission. The priest who signed my baptismal certificate was Fr. Vincent Schoenenberg. .END QUOTE::: Antonia you make me think that you were in the other St Joseph's School. The Building still stands behind the Kilimanjaro Hotel and next to the Masonic Lodge where the FM meet. During the First World War , which lasted a bit longer, the old St Josephs School (Next to the Cathedral was used as an Hospital. Very few Swiss Priest actually taught. The names you mention are all priest Germans A few years ago talking to a Goan FM, he told me that he disliked the SJCS school, he was Surprised I went there and not to Bombay. He told me that SJCS was meant for Half Castes (He used a strong word beginning with B I let it pass...There were more Lay teachers, Goans, Indian, Seychellois, Irish, English, South Africans, a "English/French red head who was a spy, and students who were Sikhs, Bohras, Hindus, Comorians, Chinese both from Hong Kong and Mainland China . :The Mission House that you may be alluding to is still standing. its a single storey building ..its only when you look at the decoration at roof level that you realize it was not an Administrative building Next to it is the Town Hall ...Absolutely Gothic. On the side of it ..was the BOMA ( Boma is not a Swahili word it is an acronym ...which my friend Vivian knows means BRITISH OVERSEAS MILITARY ADMINISTRATION. It was built before the Germans arrived the walls are thick, quite a bit of mangrove poles were used and even on a warm day it is cool. [Goanet] Love jihad
Love jihad This is a term created by fertile imagination of BJP.It could have been called anticonversion, cheating , or fraudelent behaviour The priority is misplaced to divert attention ,when farmers strike is hogging lime light and pandemic situation is at its worst .It is law by BJP states and it is very stringent compared to rape provision .The number of cases recorded do not merit ordinance approach . incidently there are more serious cases like rape. Dowry deaths child marriages ,trafficking crying for attention honour killings girl foeticide and denial of inheritance , acid defacing , dicrimination in wages, exploitation of domestic workers , sex determinations, etc There are isolated cases of misrepresentations ,coercion allurement and forced conversions under threats even physical brutalities after marriage When two consenting adults decided why Permission is needed from collector ? It appears to be minority bashing villifying Muslim men leading to religious divide between two communities.Instances of Hindu men resorting to such avtivities do not raise public outcry, condemnations and they are not rare or isolated. It is not only bad in law but against constutional rights under art 20 There might be a problem like all others but BJP states focus on this particular issue which is not a major concern at all India level At times fringe organisations take law in their own hands and terrorise couples., while law looks the other way.WHAT right do parents have to lodge complaint when the parties are majors, and how police take swift or suo mutto actions? Govt interference in private rights and freedom of religion is undesirable encroachment on personal liberties Besides investigation by law enforcing agencies is tardy ,bias, prejuidiced and selective to please the masters. Even court directives are flouted Hence implementation of law is mot objective The so called love jihad is a malaise among common illiterate folk Well to do persons are not subjected to coercive fatwa and excommunication by religious leaders The Govt is very vocal to state that it is not against interfaith unions but actions suggest otherwise.Interreligious marriages are not limited between Muslims and Hindus .Nobody buys Govt propaganda that it is a social beneficial legislation to protect forced conversions only against the will and wishes of person .The marriages vetween Hindu girls and Muslim men are investigated with vengeance it appears The hatred against minority is visible and they are target against terrorism too may be rightly so as Muslim retaliate against atrocities against their community Nelson Lopes Chinchinimm

[Goanet] Aadhar card deposits forfeited
Cheating on adhar card deposits Govt of India had floated scheme to issue aadhar card and accordingly collected deposits from small self employed individuals . The deposits ranged from 6. Plus.Fraudulent practices cane to light misusing this facility meant for ease of obtaining Aadhar card which is mandatory and people had to travel distances and stand in Q s for extended periods Govt has now withdrawn the scheme due to misuse and abuse of scheme by few scruplous agents It is refusing refund of the depositsforfeiting under illegal one sided clause of any circimstances..Individual investors are in no way responsible for closure of scheme suo muto Govt agencies are tracking , hunting down fraudsters ,but it is itself on a spree of day light robbery with no recourse for refund of deposits. Poor individual investors are unable to seek redressal on their own to deal with Govt fiat of refusal to refund legitimate deposits Individuals should be collectively helped by social organisations to recover Nelson Lopes Chinchinim
Re: [Goanet] Goanet Digest, Vol 15, Issue 754
GOVERNMENT MUST REACH OUT TO THE POOR There is a combine of big business and this government at the cost of every citizen especially the middle class and the have nots. Market forces are the big versus the small and weak, those who cannot afford courts and lawyers or are not computer savvy or illiterate. Big business have government in their pocket and the thousands of migrant labor/change in their protective laws without consulting them or looking after them FIRST before hurting them and their families and the way they want to live is what the farmers agitation is now daring to put a stop to reminding the government to protect us against sharks in business! The police is a service for protection of citizens NOT a Police Force to be used against them! Goa is blessed to have a PROVEDORIA government institute and I fail to understand why priority is not given like it was to CAA, to benevolently with the help of police scour Goa for people living on the streets/destitute and do the needful ie care to find out why they are in this state/condition, get them back to their State/families with compassion and caring using the mighty government organization, take help of NGOs etc to do the needful for fellow human beings. Priority is given to Gaushalas and snakes/animals etc.
[Goanet] HEALTH OF GOANS SHOULD BE UNION MINISTER SHRIPAD NAIK’S ONLY CONCERN
It is intriguing that Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik though being a settler in Ribandar for so may decades is circuitously opposing and subtly sabotaging the setting up of the proposed 30 bedded Health Centre at the Old Ribandar Hospital despite it being a unanimous demand of all. Ayush Minister Shripad Naik and his family who enjoy the privilege of admitting themselves at plush private hospitals when sick should realize that the common man depends on medical services provided by the Government and this is the reason why the setting up of a fully fledged Health Care Centre at the Old Ribandar hospital should be a priority. Shripad Naik who for reasons best known to him is pushing for an Ayush and Yoga Centre to be setup at the Old Ribandar Hospital should realize that recently while he was infected with COVID-19 his Ayush doctors were of no avail but that it was Allopathic treatment that came to his rescue. Besides the Corporation of the City of Panaji, the Panchayats of Chimbel, Merces, Old Goa and and the Panchayats of Sao Matias and Goltim-Navelim in Divar have all sent unanimously resolutions to the Government demanding the setting up of a full fledged Health Care centre at the Old Ribandar Hospital with round the clock medical facilities. The Old Ribandar hospital was Asia’s first medical school established on 13 th December 1867 having a very glorious history and a priceless heritage structure which needs to be preserved at all cost. To maintain the history of this hospital there is need of restoring a fully fledged State of the art medical centre at the Hospital with all possible health care facilities. A Yoga and Ayush research centre can go elsewhere.
