[google-appengine] Blobstore storage per namespace / tenant

2011-09-12 Thread Krishna
I need to be able to monitor storage per tenant so I can charge accordingly
but it looks like namespaces are not supported by the blobstore and this
needs to be handled by application code. Has anyone here implemented
something like this before? Would appreciate pointers in this regard.

Thanks,

there are days when we are very close to the quota.
How do we increase it?

Any help/advice appreciated.

Hi Takashi,
Thanks for bumping up the quota. Hopefully, we'll not hit the quota issue
again.

This quota was hit (or close to being hit) at a very modest load. I hope
you have significantly increased the quota (maybe 10x) !

[google-appengine] Billing issue - Awaiting Recurring Charge Cancellation

2012-09-07 Thread Krishna
Hello,

I have an appengine application (appid: theunclassroom). We wanted to
change the billing admin for the account but the disabling of billing is
taking quite a long time (around 1.5 days already). Would really appreciate
it if someone from Google could help expedite the process so we can add a
new billing admin and re-enable billing. Ideally, it would be nice if this
process did not take 7 days to complete - I can file an issue for this if
required. Also, how should we change the billing admin without disabling
billing in the future?

Thanks,

Krishna

[google-appengine] Mismatch between Datastore Statistics & Quota Details

2010-04-13 Thread Krishna
Hi,

The datastore statistics viewer tells me that the size of all entities
stored is 3 MB. However, the quota details page tells me that I'm
using 3% of my 1 GB free limit (~30 MB). Does the 3 MB number only
represent a subset of entities or is this really a discrepancy?

Thanks,

Krishna

[google-appengine] Re: data structure to implement "some of your friends also like this" feature.

2010-04-27 Thread Krishna
I'm interested in hearing thoughts on this as well.

Herbert: I had a similar problem sometime ago and I solved it by using
a single ListProperty with custom prefixes to distinguish between
fields of different types. So in your example, I would have used a
prefix "f.." to represent a friend and "l.." to represent a like. So
you would filter Users by friendlikes (one list property instead of
two separate ones) == "f..me" && "l..A".

Ian,

I'm using some open source code (Bloog) and I don't really understand
how it works. So I'll trust your cautious approach although I don't
quite understand why something would need to "keep counts of objects
in the datastore". Best not to meddle although I was hoping to clean
things up if I could.

Thank you for responding.

@Andy

Click on the status icons (check marks etc.) for each service to get
to the latency data for that particular service on that particular
day.

[google-appengine] Dealing with namespaces and incoming e-mail

2010-11-26 Thread Krishna
Hello,

I am building an an app that is multi-tenant and has to support input
by e-mail for a particular use case.

Do I need to maintain a mapping between all mail handles (@appid.appspotmail.com) and their corresponding namespace in
the default namespace ("") or is there a better way to ensure that the
incoming mail finds its way to the correct namespace?

Thanks,

Krishna

Re: [google-appengine] Dealing with namespaces and incoming e-mail

2010-11-27 Thread Krishna
Thanks Robert. That will work, except, there are multiple mail handles
that are required per namespace. It isn't difficult to maintain the
mapping but like you mentioned, it is the datastore lookups that I am
worried about.

[google-appengine] ghs.google.com blocked from India?

Today, all of a sudden, my appengine app became inaccessible. After poking
around a little, I realized BSNL (one of the largest ISPs in India) seems
to be blocking ghs.google.com. All other sites including *.appspot.com seem
to be working fine. The URL mapping via a CNAME record is the one that is
failing.

[google-appengine] Video Streaming

2010-09-24 Thread Krishna Bhupathi
I am planning to develop a website that would allow subscribed
users(with a fee) to view/upload videos. I don't want these videos to
show up on a public url as Youtube does. Is there a way I could do it
on App Engine?
Is there any API for App Engine for rich content? Is Blobstore
solution for this? If so can any one help me point to a sample app to
stream video over http using blobstore?
Amazon CloudFront have very good API's for rich content but the
restriction is, the content should be available as public. Any one
with the URL can view my content.
Any ideas that would achieve my goal welcome?

Thanks and Regards,
Krishna.

streaming videos in HTML5. As I said I don't want my users be able to
download my videos.
I will keep you posted about my findings.

I am building an application with multi-tenancy support. I allow each

[google-appengine] Why does "appcfg.py request_logs" not accept "java" as a valid runtime in app.yaml?

2011-09-18 Thread Krishna Patel
Is there a way for a Java app to call "appcfg.py request_logs"?

When I try to do so, I get this error which goes away if I kludge my
app.yaml by changing the runtime value from 'Java' to 'Python':

appcfg.py request_logs --application=s~example
--email=exam...@gmail.com--num_days=1 . C:\request_logs.txt
> Host: appengine.google.com
> Error parsing yaml file:
> Unable to assign value 'java' to attribute 'runtime':
> Value 'java' for runtime does not match expression '^go|python|python27$'
> in ".\app.yaml", line 2, column 10

But I don't want to have to remember to change the runtime value every time.

Is there a way to avoid this kludge and download request logs for my Java
app?

Re: [google-appengine] X-AppEngine-City

2011-10-06 Thread Krishna Patel
Ikai,

Uploading the data is a one-time cost, yes - but not an inexpensive one. And
doing a city lookup upon each login is expensive because of the need to scan
IP ranges in the Maxmind database. I assume this will require indexing but I
don't know how expensive an IP/city lookup is going to be in terms of how
many underlying datastore queries will need to be performed.

Third party apis are out of the question (this is a commercial app) and a
professional geolocation license for Google Maps allegedly costs $10,000 -
which is also out of reach.

For these reasons, it is disappointing that App Engine stopped short of
implementing X-AppEngine-City - which would have saved countless developer
hours and expense.

Re: [google-appengine] X-AppEngine-City

2011-10-06 Thread Krishna Patel
Jeff,

Which code is horrific?

I was going to load the Maxmind database into custom entities - so I don't
see why it's a big deal if it's tough to load a split file a single time.
After it's loaded into custom entities all of my geo queries would run
against the datastore. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you.

Re: [google-appengine] X-AppEngine-City

Jeff,

I didn't even consider using their Java api. The idea of keeping the data in
memory on App Engine is absurd. I'm surprised you thought that might work.

I'm following an approach similar to Ikai's in his blog post:

http://ikaisays.com/2010/08/11/using-the-app-engine-mapper-for-bulk-data-import/

As you can see, he parses the Maxmind file into City and Zip entities so
that he can do lookups by Key.

Unfortunately I don't think this works to lookup a City from an IP address -
because you have to scan a series of IP ranges in the underlying data (the
data is not actually very complex).

Brandon, "what's in it for me" is a good question to ask - on both sides of
the transaction. In my case, it's a commercial app so why would I rely on
your service? Who are you and how do I know you will be around in 6 months
or 6 years? I don't mind paying for a service but I would prefer to pay for
a service with some weight behind it.

Juha, jsapi lookups are limited by daily quotas and questionable for a
commercial app without paying an alleged $10,000 licensing fee for Google
Maps Premium.

[google-appengine] Using GAE with iCalendar

2010-05-11 Thread Sam Krishna
Hi all,

I'm extremely new to GAE, so please forgive the potential newbie questions here
(and yes, I have done a search on archives and haven't seen what I'm about to
ask):

I'd like to use the python iCalendar framework
(http://codespeak.net/icalendar/) with my GAE app. However, it seems like the
GAE policy forbids me from creating .ics files dynamically and storing them on
the GAE filesystem. So, I wanted to ask if there was a way to create and serve
up a dynamically-created .ics file?

TIA! :-)

Namaste Playfully,

Sam

[google-appengine] Re: Using GAE with iCalendar

2010-05-12 Thread Sam Krishna
Hi Robert,

I'm already using the datastore for my data. I also have diligently
been working with the getting started guide.

Where things are for me now is that I've uploaded the icalendar 2.1
library underneath my app directory. At this point, I keep getting a
"500 server error" message referring me back to this email list for
discussions. I feel like I'm pretty close.

Currently, the logs are reporting back this error:

: No module named icalendar
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/base/data/home/apps/clock-me/1.341887628091929024/clock-
me.py", line 31, in
from icalendar import Calendar, Event

This seems like a strange error to report back, since I thought I had
the icalendar directory configured correctly.

I'm going to try a different approach since I've learned a lot more
since 11 am today!

Re: [google-appengine] Re: Using GAE with iCalendar

2010-05-12 Thread Sam Krishna
That's what I'm discovering (dynamic vs. static). Right now I can create the
Calendar object from iCalendar, but I don't seem to have a way to output it to
text. Using the as_string() function keeps giving an error.

If anyone has some familiarity with this issue, feel free to respond.

Thanks!

[google-appengine] Write transactions when request time out

2011-10-21 Thread Krishna Chaitanya Thanuku
Hi all, my name is Chaitanya. I am newbie to google app engine. I have been
reading about app engine from yesterday. I read about the quota and limits
too.

I have a doubt regarding this. For instance, suppose that I am creating
10,000 objects and saving all those to the datastore in a single
transaction(DataStoreService). I guess dataStorService.put(entity) is like a
Hibernate transaction. Now that, after putting 5000 objects to the datastore
the 30 seconds limit for a request execution has been timed out.

Now what about the rest of the 5000 objects? I head
herethat

With the App Engine datastore, every attempt to create, update or delete an
> entity happens in a *transaction*. A transaction ensures that every change
> made to the entity is saved to the datastore, or, in the case of failure,
> none of the changes are made. This ensures consistency of data within an
> entity.

Is it true? If the transaction fails, the rest of 5000 objects are also
discarded from the datastore?

Can anyone help me understand this better?

Thank you all in advance, good day.

[google-appengine] Re: Increasing number or "Process terminated because the backend took too long to shutdown" over the last week

2013-12-05 Thread Harisankar Krishna Swamy
I came across this problem today. I am running a B2 backend instance which
does some work. It was getting pulled down randomly. sometime between 6-20
mins of run. A call to garbace collection after n operations worked for me.
Last run went through without a glitch. I am using python in GAE. you could
give this a try.

Best,
Hari

[google-appengine] MapOnlyMapper Jobs Failing to Complete

2016-04-26 Thread Vamsi Krishna Penumatsa

Hello,

I have a very large dataset, and want to update certain entity kinds. I am
exploring MapReduce library in GoogleAppEngine. I have followed the
examples listed here.

https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/appengine-mapreduce/tree/master/java/example/src/com/google/appengine/demos/mapreduce/entitycount

What I am basically doing is this, in my MapSpecification

MapSpecification spec = new MapSpecification.Builder<>(
new DatastoreKeyInput(query,2),
new UrlFlattenMapper(),
new DatastoreOutput())
.setJobName("Flatten URLs entities")
.build();

and My Mapper basically performs the operations on the Entity and then
Emits it, for the DatastoreOutput writer to write it back into the database.

My problem is, the Entities are getting updated fine. The endSlice is also
being called in my MapperTask. But the Jobs is not completing. I keep
getting these errors

[google-appengine] App and its data not downloading from App Engine

2014-11-13 Thread Sai Krishna P
Hi,

I downloaded recent version of App Engine for Mac 1.9.14, No matter how
many times I give this email right and password correct, it gives me
username or password is wrong

usr/local/google_appengine/appcfg.py --noisy download_app
--application=myapp /Users/sai/Desktop/app/app

The same email when I given in browser, it works? What could be wrong? Is
there some problem with the app engine version? or it could be related any
billing issue?

Thank You

[google-appengine] Static files Failed to load resource: net::ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED

2015-11-26 Thread Vamsi Krishna Penumatsa
Hi,

In our application hosted on GAE (Java), I am intermittently getting the
ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED error, for a few static files (css, son, etc).
The Network tab in the browser usually shows 0 Bytes for the file for which
the decoding failed.

It is more predominant in HTTPS mode, and I do not find this error in the
http mode. The Logging section of app engine console doesn't provide much
information. It does log the requests for the static file accesses, but
nothing more than that. The logging shows different numbers for each
requests, and 0 bytes on a lot of requests.

Is there something that we are doing wrong with respect to static files +
https?

[google-appengine] Always SSL and 302 redirect

2015-11-27 Thread Vamsi Krishna Penumatsa
Hello,

I have used security constraints section in appengine-web.xml to redirect
all the http requests on my site to https. The redirect works flawlessly,
however I have noticed that appengine is issuing a 302 redirect. I want the
appengine to use a 301 redirect, for SEO purposes.

Is there any method/mechanism to make appengine redirect using 301 rather
than 302.

Thank,
Vamsi

We have disabled page speed, and flushed its caches (from the older google app

another browsers.

Do you mean that you are dependent on Pagespeed and you need an alternative?

2020-10-14 Thread Madhav Krishna Thatavarthi
Hi,

We were using nodejs standard environment for deploying our code. It's been
6 months where there is no deployments happen. In the month of September we
were able to hit our API's and we can see our project. But now we are not
able to hit our APIs and also the project got disappeared. So how can we
restore our project.

Thank you
