VistA's Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Broker software provides functionality
 so that GUI developers can:

 1. Establish a connection from a client workstation to a VistA M Server.
 2. Run RPCs on the VistA M Server.
 3. Return data to the client workstation.

Once connected, the client can execute Remote Procedure Calls on the VistA
 M Server. RPCs are written

in M and accessed through the VistA M Server's REMOTE PROCEDURE file

 RPCs can:

 • Receive data from the client workstation.

 • Return data to the client workstation.

 • Execute other actions on the VistA M Server.

I do not know what you are trying to do, but you may what to look at the
VistA mappings for Cache. With the mappings it should not be very difficult
to read any patient data from a .NET Application. We have used Access to
make some reports using the mapping and a ODBC connection.

 Hi,

Very much new to this group and VistA software.

Trying to fetch patient data from VistA using the RPC Calls.

I found the list of RPC's by logging on to the Cache Terminal.
I'm trying to find information on How to make RPC calls to VistA from
.NET Application to fetch the patient data ?

Can you pls let me know where I can find more information on that ?

I'm sorry if I've asked a more generic question or you can point me to
where I should start in this regard ?

 Thanks much in advance.

Installing VistA on GT.M on Linux is trivial. Download the latest FOIA
VistA SemiVivA - in this case 20060113 - and follow the instructions at
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=534052

The fun starts when you start to setup/configure VistA itself. Until
the Wiki comes up, perhaps someone can post their private directions
somewhere on the web.

It looks like you can use the Google cache of the wiki by inserting
64.233.179.104/search?q=cache:2dQAslvqAa0J: after the http:// on a wiki
URL, e.g., (one line):

http://64.233.179.104/search?q=cache:2dQAslvqAa0J:openforum.worldvista.org/~forum/index.php?title=Main_Page#Configuration_of_Packages

instead of:

http://openforum.worldvista.org/~forum/index.php?title=Main_Page#Configuration_of_Packages

It should also be possible to use the wayback machine
(http://archive.org) to access cached versions of the Wiki, but our

That page #2137 is mine, and you better keep your hands off it!

(Obviously I am just kidding).

I think it would be hard to argue that something posted on the
internet is protected unless each page posts a copyright on it.

Perhaps someone, such as yourself, wants to copy the content of the
wikki for commercial purpose. I would see that in bad taste, but it
would be essentially impossible for pursuing a copyright violation. I
say this as someone who has put many hours of preparation into pages

I would not loose any sleep over that. You are talking about a group of
volunteers who have kept at it through thick and mostly, very, very, thin, so
I don't think the content will disappear. It may be a bit slow in getting
fixed, or appear in a different format, but it won't disappear.

say this as someone who has put many hours of preparation into pages
stored there.

1. Here's hoping that the third installment of Rick Marshall's epic poem
hits the airwaves on tomorrow's conference call.

2. By now Chris Richardson probably knows that I was able to record
the first installment, contrary to what was said last week (when I was
unable to attend). So we do have the first two sessions complete.

3. Rick's recap of the first session that then followed was far from
wasted. I find it a nice clean introduction... very useful to me, at least.

4. Audacity converted Chris' 59Meg .wav to an 18Meg .ogg very nicely.
Highly recommended and I use it to play the oggs in Windows, too.

5. I will try to record tomorrow's session, but as always disease and
pestilance may intervene. So Chris have at it too, please.

[Hardhats-members] While the Wiki's Wacked

2006-03-09 Thread JohnLeoZimmer

The register a new member function is sick (hopefully temporarily).
Meanwhile, those of us who had registered earlier can get in just fine.
It's really a lovely wiki and spam free, almost.

User free, almost, too. :-(

I wonder... while the wisest among us attempt to make the wiki safe from
spam AND, at the very same time, accessible to the good among us (We
know who we are.) a suggestion...

How about we make one user id, say Hardhater,
with access code, say xxx. That ID can be added published here... or
even on the wiki itself with relative immunity from bots. And we can all
use the wiki while the registration function is getting repaired.

Kevin T made an offer to share his ID off list, and I'm sure Nancy A is
similarly inclined. I'm just hoping that there may be an ID available
that we can publish. If it fails to withstand the spam tsunami the
password could be changed regularly or the ID just killed as a failed
experiment.

highest regards to all.

I have always favored requiring registration, at least for those wishing
to contribute. It's nice to be able to have some identification of who
is contributing.

2006-03-09 Thread Chris Richardson
John;

I am still waiting to hear the first section. Can you give it up? I
uploaded mine, but where is yours? Huh?, Huh?, Huh?? ;^) I will be there
to record (given any opportunity at all). But I would like to hear the
first file.

 3. Rick's recap of the first session that then followed was far from
wasted. I find it a nice clean introduction... very useful to me, at
least.

Chris and everyone else, it is on my server along with the one from your
