Thanks for replying Graham.

I am using HLDS.

And by the way found out what I need to do to download the CSS files.

I'm running the download now.

Again thanks for the help.

RE: [hlds] HLTV "-Port" Bug (really Odd and Need Help !)

2006-01-07 Thread Matthew White
Hi Sabrina,

I had issues with D-Link stuff in the past mine was a DSL-G604T (or similar)
4-port adsl router with wirless support and I used it in my shared house for
a while. Whenever I setup port forwards I would need to make sure that a) I
use IE because D-Link seem to use IE only JavaScript b) Whenever I added any
port forwards I ensured the checkbox next to them was checked to ensure they
were active c) I saved it all on the relevant pages d) I downloaded the
config from the router - theres an option within the web interface that lets
you back it up iirc and then d) reboot the router using the built in
software.

If I didn't do this then the router would not remember what I had previously
setup! It was a nightmare but eventually I got all I wanted to work. Your
router may be different but those are some things that I experienced when
working with D-Link.

Regards,

Matt White

The Firmware updates says :
- Added WDS Support
- Fixed Netscape issue
- Fixed wireless re-connect bug
- Fixed PPPoE issue
- Xbox Live compatible

on http://firewalling.com/dlink/di-784-firewall.htm
i followed exactly what it says and i still have the same issue.

if i fully restart the settings of the router, and start back from the
beggining, may that solve the problem ?

On my router,
i have many things that can be used to forward ports :

"Virtual Server"
"applications"
"filters"
"Firewall"
"DMZ"

from what i read and understood, virtual server is to forward 1 port, while
firewall is to forward a range of ports.
but i have tried both of them, restarting router, and nothing seems to work.

can anyone tell me what i missed ?

Re: [hlds] HLTV "-Port" Bug (really Odd and Need Help !)

2006-01-07 Thread Sabrina Perron
On my router,
i have many things that can be used to forward ports :

"Virtual Server"
"applications"
"filters"
"Firewall"
"DMZ"

from what i read and understood, virtual server is to forward 1 port,
while firewall is to forward a range of ports.
but i have tried both of them, restarting router, and nothing seems to work.

can anyone tell me what i missed ?

Routers are, by default, a one-way ticket out of the LAN. An outgoing
connection like your HLTV broadcast is given a port like 1337. The router
then converts that port into a random one upon creation of the tunnel. That
is why your manual settings are being changed. Log into http://192.168.0.1
with a blank username and a password of "admin". Then find port forwarding
and forward the port you want to run HLTV on to the computer that is running
it. This manually opens a tunnel for that port to that machine. Problem
solved. Why nobody could answer that for you is amazing. :|

2006-01-07 Thread Hackmett
Hi,

just looked my apache logs, there is still activity.
As it is a client feature you may check if the client has the right value
for sv_downloadurl.

When you are connected to the server, just open console, type
sv_downloadurl and let the auto-complete show you the value ;)

Everybody can find out your http-dl url by looking the var and it makes no
sense at all to hide your url ;)

running hi priority is only bad if it is affecting the other servers or if
your are raising your cpu too high causing lag ripples that will roll
through all the servers, but not necessarily at the same time, well at least
this has been my experience.
i would try running the largest server in high priority, then the next most
important on abovenormal, then the rest on normal, but only if they are NOT
above 33 tic. 66 tic demands specific priority and will kick your ass if you
set it too low.
good luck and email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you wanna discuss

i have seen noone other than alfred sharing information.

Hi All,

I run a game server community. On our Dual Xeon box, we have multiple srcds
instances running.

I've heard people saying that running all of them at a higher priority is bad.
Is this true? We're running about 3-4 instances right now.

Thanks,

Re: [hlds] sv_downloadurl not working anymore

2006-01-07 Thread Ook

it downloads from both places

you seem to have some big sound files that players must download from your
server

I have barf.wav and bungholio.wav, both fairly small, in my res files, most
of the sounds just sit there until I rotate them through the res files. I
don't like players to have to sit there and download too many sound files.
The map might have had some bigger files, some of the kitkat and mario maps
have bigger sound files, and those probably come from the server.

I wonder if that is what I'm seeing - players downloading the maps and stuff
from host, and then the map specific files from the server? That would
explain a lot - several of my regulars are European dialup customers, and it
would take them a while to download, for example, the kitkat_casino files.

another thing i noticed is that your op4ctf.wad file is corrupt yours is
only ^^0.6 mb original file is ^^7.5 mb

Ack, how did that happen? The one I got from hldsupdatetool updates is
5,848,736 bytes, which matches the one in my steam op4 client directory,
which matches my old HL1 Won file. I'm copying it now...done... Thanks for
catching that - I had no idea it was bad :(

Last I heard people can use your download url unless you take measures to
stop it. If that is still the case you probably shouldn't tell anyone what
it is, especially on a mailing list for server ops.

AFAIK I have changed nothing. My sv_downloadurl is

Yet players join the server and download the map from the server instead.
Is
this something that a recent update broke? Am I missing something?

[hlds] sv_downloadurl not working anymore

I just noticed that players no longer download maps from my hosting site.
AFAIK I have changed nothing. My sv_downloadurl is

exists:
http://www.deadice.us/ookssteamingpileofcrap/gearbox/maps/kitkat_rats.bsp.

I'll check it out. I run hlstats in NameTrack mode so players are tracked by
their name, but if they change their name they loose their stats.

I use HLStats. One reason I use HLStats is that it works with OP4, I don't
think PsychoStats supports OP4.

HLStats is not a plugin. It consists of a Perl module that receives
server
logs, processes them, and dumps the processed result into a MySQL
database.
The website is PHP that queries the MySQL database and displays stuff.

HLStats can be temperamental to setup, the install docs are a bit sparse.
The support forum, however, is excellent.

Does it support OP4? Last time I checked, psychostats did not.

We use hlstatsx for source, psychostats for HL1. Works swell.
