I would check the steam downtime thread on the forums but forums are down as
a result of the update. That error is from steam being down usually.

Once again, I've read that. The steam status page was updated 14 minutes
prior to me viewing it. I checked the steampowered forums with a search but
couldn't find a solution due to it "page cannot be displayed."

It didn't appear the steam network was down. So, I continued on to
troubleshooting persistent steam userid ticket errors.

So, my players restarted steam. That didn't fix it. My players deleted the
various files. Guess what? That didn't fix it. Like I said in my last
message (which you clearly didn't need to read explaining your
less-than-helpful response with a rather condescending tone) my players can
connect to every other server except mine. Restarting my servers fixes the
issue temporarily.

Anyway, thanks for the help, kyle.

I guess I'm not reading the stats page right, however there is over a 20
minute delay now (there wasn't at the time). I guess I don't know how to
read it right.

Thanks for the help, sorry for asking. I tried to go through all the steps

It took me exactly 20 seconds to find this info. RTFM
-

Important Note

If the Steam Network is down or too busy you may not be able to connect to
a
Game Server - to determine whether or not this may be the issue, please
check the Steam Status Page - if the last update for that page is more
than
20 or 30 minutes behind, there may be a Steam network outage.

Please also check to see if there are other players having the same
problem
on the SteamPowered Forums.

If it does appear as though the Steam network is down, you will need to be
patient and wait until the problem gets cleared.

Troubleshooting Persistent Steam UserID Ticket Errors
If you have determined that the Steam network is not down and you are
still
receiving this error message, this issue is most likely being caused by
not
restarting after a Steam update has been released.

If restarting Steam does not resolve the issue, please exit Steam and
delete
the following files:

Steam.dll
SteamUI.dll
ClientRegistry.Blob
These will be found under your Steam installation directory - by default,
this will be C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\ (this may vary if you specified
a
different installation folder, or if you have moved your Steam
installation)

when they connect to every one of my servers.

I run two dod:s servers, one cs:s, two hl2mp, one hl2ctf and an eternal

Restarting the servers seems to fix the problem, only to have it begin

Take off steambans and you wont have another problem with it. It sucks
because its been a known bug for at least a month (known that steambans

Ever since I removed it last month I havent had a single problem with the
steamid verification error. Its too bad because they block a lot of
players
coming into the servers.
The only other option (and I didnt test this) would be to reboot the
machine
everyday. Since that clears up the problem when it starts, I would assume
that would allow you to keep running hte plugin and not get the errors.
But
who wants to reboot their machine every day?

The exact message is:

You have been disconnected from the server.
Reason: Error verifying STEAM UserID Ticket(server was unable
to contact
the suthentication server).

Why do my servers get this error every once in a while. The only
solution it seems is to reboot the whole server box. Does anyone else
get this?

EDIT: I went into the machine with vnc to reboot it. And one of the
source servers had crashed. I clicked the ok button and then
all of the
hlds servers worked again. Very odd behavior.

We are rebooting over 150 servers every AM, and we are using SB on several

Can you give us a link to the steambans discussion? Not to doubt your honest
but I would like to read it and keep up with anything they come up with. I
will try removing it from our servers and see if the issue goes away. For us
it isn't with all players just some and we do tell them to try the log
in/out thing but it doesn't always work.

It's not that I don't believe you Phoenix, I'm just trying to point out that
not all with steambans have the same error, thus the explanation does not
have to lie within that plugin... And as they say in their forums, the issue
should be resolved with the latest version of the steambans plugin..

Personally, the issue was solved by using "sb_requireauth 0" before the
sb-plugin update.

2006-08-11 Thread Hell Phoenix

You guys can think whatever you want Im just trying to help out. Take
off the steambans client if you are getting the errors and see if they
go away. (They did for us and many other people)

Still dont believe that steambans causes the errors? Go look in their
forums. Its right there in black and white.

Sheesh. You would think I insulted your mothers. Relax and open your
minds people.

Take off steambans and you wont have another problem with it. It sucks
because its been a known bug for at least a month (known that steambans
causes
it) and the steambans team claims they fixed it but its obvious they havent..
Ever since I removed it last month I havent had a single problem with the
steamid verification error. Its too bad because they block a lot of players
coming into the servers.
The only other option (and I didnt test this) would be to reboot the machine
everyday. Since that clears up the problem when it starts, I would assume
that would allow you to keep running hte plugin and not get the errors. But
who wants to reboot their machine every day?

Scott, I have noticed this problem on my server also. In fact, I have
noticed this problem from my client when I attempt to connect to other

I have several accounts (my whole family plays) and I think the steam

RE: [hlds] Error verifying STEAM UserID Ticket

2006-08-11 Thread Scott Tuttle
Nope. I was wrong. It wasn't completely fixed. I did have to reboot the
server to completely fix the problem. I did not have to sign in and out of
my client. Rebooting the entire server box fixed the problem completely.

RE: [hlds] Error verifying STEAM UserID Ticket

2006-08-11 Thread Chorizo Omelet
Scott, I have noticed this problem on my server also. In fact, I have
noticed this problem from my client when I attempt to connect to other
servers! The problem is related to the client, not the server. The
client needs to logout of steam and then back in, then all is well.

I have several accounts (my whole family plays) and I think the steam
servers get nervous every once in a while and just "flake" the auth for
the user, forcing them to sign back in.

Hope this helps.

You have been disconnected from the server.
Reason: Error verifying STEAM UserID Ticket(server was unable to contact

Why do my servers get this error every once in a while. The only

RE: [hlds] Error verifying STEAM UserID Ticket

2006-08-11 Thread Scott Tuttle
As I stated I didn't have to reboot. All I had to do was close the dialog
box that a source server had popped up. Maybe something in the steam bans
client running on a 1.6 server will somehow interfere with the vac on the
source server causing it to crash and then stall the ability for the whole
server to process vac requests. Because one of our 1.6 servers is running
the steambans client. But all of my problems went away when I clicked the
dialog box that popped up on the console, by the source server. When it
happens again I will have to do some testing.

Old, well known problem. I suppose it is because the authentication servers
are sometimes overloaded or have connectivity problems.

RE: [hlds] Error Verifying STEAM userID ticket ?

2006-04-20 Thread Bush
Hey,

I have a few users in my clan that are having problems hl2.exe crashing due
to a faulty datacache.dll, along with the Error Verifying STEAM UserID
Ticket. When the .blob file is deleted and they log back onto steam.. play
for a while then try to play again it gives them the same error (after
they've played and quit).

Does anyone have any idea if the datacache.dll error has anything to do with
the update that went out yesterday?

Thanks

Wow, the ONLY thing I did not not have him do. I assumed exiting Steam
was the same as signing out. I just verified and he is OK now.

Thank you Alfred.

Get this user to go to http://support.steampowered.com/ . There are
several reasons for this error. One potential solution is to log out of
their account (via File->Change User) and log back in again.

Re: [hlds] Error verifying STEAM UserID Ticket

2006-03-20 Thread Kevin Ottalini

I've had to have several players go delete their clientregistry.blob file to
fix this problem.
In every case, that was the only thing that worked.

Connection to Steam servers successful.
   VAC secure mode is activated.
Adding master server 69.28.151.162:27010
Adding master server 68.142.72.250:27010
Dropped (some player) from server
Reason: Error verifying STEAM UserID Ticket(server was
unable to contact the authentication server).

I had him connect to another public server:

This is weird. What has solved it for me, at least for the moment, is to
join the server using my old steam account 0:0:47165 (set up a new one
for hl2) and then it works fine with my new one STEAM_0:1:4566142.

Hi all
I have the same problem here. I restarted the server about three times,
but
I still get the error message when connecting.

I have the same problem with my CZ server, half of my regulars can't join,
or they get in once and a while. I also tried using hlds update tool, and I
get an error saying outdated protocol or soemthing like that. Has anyone
else seen that? I have done nothing to the server it was running fine, I
just made the mistake of restarting it I guess.

I deleted the clientregistry.blob file from the ...\valve\steam\ folder and
restarted steam so it updated itself, then the error was gone. Maybe this
helps also for you.

I have had the same issue with my CS:S server in the last couple days. The
strange part is that one of my friends was getting that error trying to
join, but then as soon as I connected it let me in and then he could join
after that. Really weird.

After restarting one of my CS servers Wednesday I started getting this error
when someone tries to connect:

Dropped Player from server.
Reason: Error verifying STEAM UserID Ticket(server was unable to connect to
the authentication server, 27).

I have tried just about everything I could think of to correct it. I've got
several other servers on the box that are still working fine. Some of the
things I've tried doing are:

Stop using metamod
Change the port
Change the IP
Delete clientregistry.blob
Delete installrecord.blob
Leaving the server up for several hours.
Leaving the server down for several hours.
Use a completely fresh install
Create a new steam account

Now I restarted a DoD server and it's getting the same error.

Anyone have any ideas?
