Re: [hlds_linux] HL1 Client Problems
Ok back from golf ( I shot a 70 in howling wind), QUOTE " calm and sober post"END QUOTE Posting in a calm and sober manor has no bearing on anything. Its very strange that so many people who have been posting on forums and mailing lists for many more years then even I have, Still don't seem to know anything about how to make a post or how to read one. Even though someone may use a term like ( Mr smarty pants), That doesn't automatically mean that the poster is flaming or insulting the original poster. Oh wait maybe I should have used the lame leet speak sign for just joking :D . You all need to take some lessons in diction. Remember this is TYPE, not voice. You cannot hear the inflection or tone in my voice so some time's you have to ask how someone means something when they say it. That or either really know how to read well. Now when I say moron then that's an insult for sure but if I do say it, it s well deserved. This and almost every other problem we as a society have to deal with stems from everybody always just passing the buck when it comes to people talking out their asses and saying oh well they will learn in time, or hes just young let him be, or even worse just ignoring the person and letting them continue to be ignorant and influence others who are younger making them more ignorant then they already are. We have to put a stop to ignorance and start calling people on it and correcting them, Instead of just letting spread more ignorance. That's why when I disagree with someone and I'm not sure if I'm correct, I form it as a question instead of an absolute statement. That way no one can say I'm a know it all. Ok I'm done with this topic. Re: [hlds_linux] Setting Affinity make any difference?
ah, I do not share the core with any other srcds processes. The key here is "individually" on each core. If you remove the taskset on the processes the kernel is smart enough to take care of itself and assign 1 srcds process per core. -Dom On Tue, 2008-05-20 at 18:31 +0200, Bento de Gier wrote: > We had 4 100 tick 13 slot warserver assigned to a dedicated core on a Dell > PowerEdge with a 2.4Ghz Quadcore xeon and 4 GB of ram. Aside from AnAkIn's communication with Valve, whomever this was ran through a series of tests and determined, not by e-mail or the like, by throughput, the rate was a maximum value of 2. Maybe it was AnAkIn...whoever it was provided a nice set of pics to show the differences in rate values. I'm not sure why you take that tone with him, though. He's only trying to be helpful. He also has documentation stating that what he has posted here are the correct values to use. If you can provide some evidence to the contrary, I'd love to see it. I'd hate to be spreading misinformation by advising people of a rate max of 2. Also, your link is broken. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

I don't have to email anyone I already know what the max value for sv_maxrate for hlds is, its 30.000 but what we have been discussing is what the client should set their RATE too for Internet servers and that is 25.000 You all can keep talking until you're blue in the face but that fact will not change. Re: [hlds_linux] HL1 Client Problems
Max for Source is something around 1 000 000. It was posted by Alfred Reynolds when there has been a Source update like 1 year ago. The difference between a VALVe developer and Steam Support site, is that Steam Support site articles are not all written by VALVe. Some articles are written by volunteers, so there can be errors. If you don't believe me that the max rate is 2 for HL1 engine, then send an e-mail to a VALVe developer and see. 2008/5/21 Crazy Canucks <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > As I understand it the maximum for HL is 2, while for HL2 and Source > mods, it is 25000. > > Drek > > Richard Eid wrote: > > I wish I could find it on the forums somewhere, but at one point, someone > > actually tested the various rate settings and found that the max was > 2. > > Aside from AnAkIn's communication with Valve, whomever this was ran > through > > a series of tests and determined, not by e-mail or the like, by > throughput, > > the rate was a maximum value of 2. As I understand it the maximum for HL is 2, while for HL2 and Source mods, it is 25000. Re: [hlds_linux] HL1 Client Problems
Alright, this doesn't solve my problem lads :) It still exists. Met vriendelijke groet, Regards, Bento de Gier [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Oorspronkelijk bericht- Van: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Namens Kyle Verzonden: woensdag 21 mei 2008 8:51 Aan: Half-Life dedicated Linux server mailing list Onderwerp: Re: [hlds_linux] HL1 Client Problems I actually don't care what anyone thinks and I'm not here to prove to anyone that I'm right. I just find it funny when people who don't know what their talking about state things as absolutes instead of posing them as questions. And of course as usual anytime people quote what other supposed valve employees say they almost always fail to get the persons name so the people who DO know what their talking about, can verify it. I just point out were people are wrong and leave it at that. Then theres morons like "Gebi" who take almost any response either out of context or the wrong way and those D-bags post's are always fun to read. Then theres people like you, QUOTE "whomever this was ran through A series of tests" END QUOTE. Like me running servers for 4 years and doing countless tests, thousands of times means nothing. God, forums are funny and they and the people who post on them will never change. They will be stupid until they die and always want someone to just give them the answer or do a search for them or post a link were they can get the answer to their problem because their too stupid or lazy to simply read and learn for themselves. FINALY (since you say my link is broken that proves what I'm saying is true),Heres a link to whispers server Wiki which I'll admit has many errors some of which I have pointed out to him over the years we both have been members of this list ( I been a member under many names for over 7 years), But even he agrees that the sv_maxrate for hlds is 30.000 and all I have said is that its 25.000 for Internet, which is true. Http://whisper.ausgamers.com/wiki/index php/Noob_guide_to_netgraph_/_ping#RATE Oh and by the way whisper, you need to update you're server wiki, because the command line is not the only place to add the sys_ticrate command for hlds.I have it in my server.cfg and it works just fine, But I guess that s what you get when you simply take quotes from the steam support web site and call them you're own wiki. And if you mean that's just for SRCDS then you need to define that properly in you're wiki. Once again logic and intelligence prevails over lazy people.
