Re: [hlds_linux] Weird server glitches/problems (Stuck Doors, Missing Props, etc)
For the props missing/strange graphics. Go and delete your server/orangebox/tf/maps/graphs/* then just validate the install again (but it should auto create these files too) This should resolve those weird issues you have on the doors. I've had strange situations when a generated .ain file was copied over from another server or the file was corrupted. 2012/8/2 Essay Tew Phaun sc2p...@gmail.com On CentOS 6.2 2.6.32-279.1.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Jul 10 13:47:21 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Tried running verify_all, as well. These are the following issues I've experienced: 1. Servers randomly losing the IP they were assigned via the startup and will instead use the system IP. (This has only happened a few times) and the IP will show fine in favorites but not when you view friends who are on the server, who will show they're connected to the main system IP and not the IP the server is supposed to have assigned to it. 2. Carts that get stuck randomly and show the wrong progress in the HUD. Doors that get stuck randomly. Props that will be missing. I've had a bridge before without planks, so you couldn't even walk across it. Here are some screenshots of some weird graphical issues through doors which everyone experiences. It's not a client only glitch. I tried to ignore all of this and write it off as a rare thing but it has happened enough recently to where I've got to believe it is some sort of problem. http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/596977147797869396/DD97BD0D26B24D5EE167F0E7DC7FD471A1F9F767/ http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/594725980421023007/F8361AC3D0AC65E4783A7E681ECBDDAA7FD78A87/ ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: https://list.valvesoftware.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: https://list.valvesoftware.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
[hlds_linux] Mandatory Nuclear Dawn update released
We've released a mandatory update to Nuclear Dawn. The notes are below. As a reminder, the new steamcmd tool is now required for updates, rather than hldsupdatetool. Bug fixes - Fixed ranks 61-64 using rank 60 icon. - Fixed a rare case where R.E.D.s could not be detonated. - Fixed RED/grenade viewmodel still showing empty after going from none to some ammo at supply station or ammopack. - Fixed supply station health count going down when hyposprayed players are near it (not actually using health). - Fixed being able to spam ammo and health kits with secondary fire. - Fixed commander Lost Signal when reentering commander view after leaving it with signal lost. - Fixed a rare client crash that could sometimes occur when selection a bunker that had an assembler building. - Fixed some issues with server browser column headers. - Fixed resource point untouch inconsistency across maps. Tertiary and Secondary points all now slowly, rather than instantly lose capture when untouched. - Fixed resource points sometimes showing as completely captured when not captured at all. - Fixed round_start not being written to game log. - Fixed console spam when equipping Grenade Launcher with Clip Compressor II gizmo active. - Fixed resource count being printed as 1,0 when count was exactly 1,000. - Fixed some Russian localization issues. with the beta quickplay system if your server uses any type of normal connection method to the server for the first player it boots you out of the beta It will be fixed really soon. As in, today (hopefully). We're planning an update later today, and it will have the necessary fixes on the server side. I'm hopeful to get it fixed on the backend, too. There is also a problem where a game over condition can cause the server to switch into a mode where it stops receiving traffic. That bug will also be fixed today. Sorry for the bugs. There is also a problem where a game over condition can cause the server to switch into a mode where it stops receiving traffic. That bug will also be fixed today. Sorry for the bugs. It could also be due to quickplay traffic being split inbetween the beta quickplay system and the current quickplay system. They did say with the beta quickplay system if your server uses any type of normal connection method to the server for the first player it boots you out of the beta. They never did followup if that was ever fixed. I could imagine that a lot of people running both the beta quickplay/normal quickplay aren't getting the benefit of the beta quickplay traffic because of that bug. But I too have noticed this same issue about the dropoff in quickplay traffic seeding which started about a day before fletcher posted about the beta quickplay system being started. I assume the drop in traffic is because of that. On Wed, Aug 1, 2012 at 9:51 PM, ics i...@ics-base.net wrote: Exactly this. It was once stated that quickplay is only about 30% of all connects to servers. Many people may have found one, two or more servers that they have on favorites. They will go to those servers first if there are players as they will be asked if they want to add the server to their favorites when they disconnect after 10 mins or longer session. This can be just a normal case, some of your regulars will be gone and there will be quiet moments. Quickplay is only something that you may want to have as an extra. It helps populate a server but on peak times, there's a lot of servers with some empty slots so there will be also a lot more servers for it to pick for and where to place a random player to. -ics 2.8.2012 5:44, Rob Liu kirjoitti: The reason can be there just less and less people are using quickplay. And there are more quickplay servers out there. This can take a while sometimes, after which this cycle repeats. There seems to be less of a constant slow feed of players now and instead you get big spurts.
