Do you load metamod via gameinfo.txt or vdf? You need vdf since gameinfo style
wont load metamod snapshot.

Are you using the force holidays SourceMod plugin? If you are and have
tfh_halloween set to 2, it will disable the halloween event and cause
bosses to not spawn.

For the bosses to spawn on any Halloween map, you need a minimum of 10
players.

If that's not the reason, then I'm sorry I can't help you!

[hlds_linux] visiblemaxplayers being changed on event247

2012-10-27 Thread Steven Sumichrast
Hello -- I've got a dozen or so servers up right now running just fine.
However I am experiencing an odd issue -- I run my servers with one hidden
slot (maxplayers 25) and set visiblemaxplayers to 24 via server.cfg (which
is my server config file I have listed in startup line). So, it should be
fine anytime the map changes.

However, since the update my servers running the event seem to be resetting
visiblemaxplayers to -1 -- I assume this is happening when matchmaking is
dropping players in -- not 100% sure, but best guess at this time. Anyone
else seeing this?

If it is working for EVERYONE just fine but not for you it seems that it

You have a thread on allied forums with an istruction how to fix this. If
you can't do this maybe you should delete your server?

Anyone else getting this when trying to enter your servers - seems a map
reset fixes it but I had a few I didn't notice people couldn't join due to
getting this and they(the servers) nearly died.

Freezes on plugin loading is caused by SELinux being enabled and
srcds_linux not being granted execstack and execheap.

Re: [hlds_linux] Optional Team Fortress 2 update released

2012-10-27 Thread Daniel Barreiro
The problem is, the way it works.

How the models work is it has a skin, and a separate model. The skin turns
the model green, and parts transparent., and then the game parents
a separate model to the main model. This isn't possible because of the
mishap a few years ago where servers sold valve's stuff, and then valve
blocked it.

Thanks Eric.  Can't wait for the lag to be fixed.

On a side note, would it be possible to make it so plugins could force the
zombie skins?  We're trying to do it for Super Zombie Fortress.  We called
the attributes with TF2items, and it makes the skin go zombie, but the
scout_zombie.mdl is not appearing, so we have a green scout with
transparent body parts.

Re: [hlds_linux] Optional Team Fortress 2 update released

2012-10-27 Thread Daniel Barreiro
Thanks Eric. Can't wait for the lag to be fixed.

On a side note, would it be possible to make it so plugins could force the
zombie skins? We're trying to do it for Super Zombie Fortress. We called
the attributes with TF2items, and it makes the skin go zombie, but the
scout_zombie.mdl is not appearing, so we have a green scout with
transparent body parts.

I found that making a new server login helps if your server is getting zero

screaming kids on it, and it was quite unbearable. I'm pretty sure,
however, Merasmus is not supposed to make sense. Forcing everyone to
stand facing the other team, and doing the halloween taunt while
Merasmus screams "DANCE, DANCE!" isn't really all that serious. When
someone on that one pub server killed me, there was a pumpkin that he
picked up on the killcam, and I never saw one after that. I have no
idea how to get to skull island, but it probably has to do with killing
Merasmus.

Once again thanks for your help.

Well I wouldn't hold your breath, seems like a bit of a non-event TBH.

The ideas for capping the point make no sense. big head / little head?
There are no head shots anyway
for the vast majority of the classes and weapons. Ideas like crits and
uber? When both sides get them at the same time are pretty pointless.

Is this a bug? Surely only the capping team was supposed to get the
card effects?

None of the pub servers I've tried have been good enough to kill the
boss and I've not seen any items or anything
resembling going to skull island etc. The rest of the time it's the
shambles that koth is (please do the next event so it isn't koth based)

Dialling back the fun all for the sake of the economy? Meh, I'd much
prefer to just buy a game and play it with the fun included - do we
really care about some
halfwits collection of buds being devalued? Or even paying to play it
(you have the ticket idea) but the economy results in removing the fun
from the game artifically
 - it might give jobs for fleeing Greek economists but aside from that
not a great idea :-(

Worse thing for a company that is customer focused is to realise
you're no longer a customer if you use their product and that they
have no
way of paying for TF2 if your interest is in playing it. Valve have
effectively stopped selling games :(

All in all, not the best tf2 experience I've ever had (not the least
the couple of times I tried the matchmaking and got on a server
with 32 players and premium accounts and so on being getting lucky -
not Valve's fault, but if these people cheated with the client they
would have been banned
permanently years ago, it's not like they are different people running
these servers)

It might be more fun later with an organised go at it.

2012-10-27 Thread Saint K .
Our MvM servers run off the same directory as the normal servers.

Will this have any negative effect on the normal, good running servers?

Yes, I'm registered. I was getting plenty of traffic last year, and
immediately after the update my server was full for a while, but the MvM
bug ended up taking down my entire machine and my PvP server never
recovered.

I'm getting the same thing. CentOS 5, vanilla server (so sm/mm), and
only happens on MvM. Any map. Occurs whenever someone spawns immediately
after picking their class. Only seems to happen on linux.

Exactly the same thing here too. Our other servers running regular maps
and
the one running the PvP Halloween event maps are fine (give or take the
odd
sdkhooks issue and such). I'm running the latest dev snapshots of MM and
SM,
OS is Xubuntu.

It should just work if your server loads the map.

There is a cvar for getting events to work when it's not halloween :-
tf_forced_holiday

I'm not sure if they're still using the stupid minimum player
requirements this year? But if they are some
aspects of the map might not work unless your server has enough players
(where "enough" is whatever random number someone at valve pulled out of
their arse)

Same exact issue here , tried on Vanilla first, then installed the

newest MM and SM, and same issue. It works until you load a class and then
just crashes. Looks like windows finally gets a few days edge..sad times in
the kingdom lol

Looks like it doesn't discriminate. I see exactly the same behavior on
Archlinux, pure vanilla install (no SM or MM). It hangs with a pegged
CPU right after class selection.

Surely only the capping team was supposed to get the card
effects?

Worse thing for a company that is customer focused is to realise you're
no longer a customer if you use their product and that they have no
way of paying for TF2 if your interest is in playing it. Valve have
effectively stopped selling games :(

All in all, not the best tf2 experience I've ever had (not the least the
couple of times I tried the matchmaking and got on a server
with 32 players and premium accounts and so on being getting lucky - not
Valve's fault, but if these people cheated with the client they would
have been banned
permanently years ago, it's not like they are different people running
these servers)

It might be more fun later with an organised go at it.
