Re: [hlds_linux] An ask to Valve
Well, after three years, playing TFC, I've ran across two servers that ran CD, and 1/3 rd is a low percentage in my book. If all is well in CS, then why are peeps like you always crying about the hacks. One thing I can say is, I've never played CS, and never will, so much for checking facts, I could care less, my concerns are with TFC. CD is not the solution for TFC or CS, unless integrated with hlds_l. As for running a server with out a anti-cheat, I say again, I sold it. RE: [hlds_linux] An ask to Valve
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and others well said and I see tha you get what I aam trying to say! And I do not hate Valve either! I started with TFC and then went to CS. It has been a fun venture over all. It is just that the frustration level builds and builds, until a server op has to vent or go crazy :) And yes I have ran all the third party anti's, geez Stefan Huszic's do you think I have just buried my head in the sand and come to the conclusions the cheaters have won without trying everything out there? Come on! Go to any of the CHEATER Sites and they proudly display what is VAC or CD Proof. Nothing is 100% and each and every anti out there has its own plus and minus features. I for one would love to see PB return or VAC and CD work together. HLG appears to me to have lost its edge. And I agree Valve appears to have its hand in way to many projects, thus stumbling! Focus focus focus Valve...lol... I am not a software writer so I have to put my faith in Valve, and I would rush out and purchase CS again and again if Valve would solve the CHEATER Problem because my friends and I are long time CS Players who really love this game! We want to see CS and TFC survive, we really do! RE: [hlds_linux] An ask to Valve
I've been saying this (mostly to myself) for the past four years or so. Valve is trying to prepare a 500 course meal all at once and everything is starting to taste like shit. Rather than focus on one thing at a time, they're working on eleven bajillion things at once. It's getting annoying but unfortunately most people, including me, find their selves hooked on a mod (tfc, cs, etc...) and can't do anything besides sit through all this garbage. I know Valve would be hard pressed to give a fuck, but they need to go back to the drawing board with their development process. I can't think of one good thing that has come to TFC in the past four years. I can however come up with several that have made the game a pile of feces (net code, removing exec and killing file scans [hlguard], the fact that it takes a quad xeon with 4GB of ram to run a 4 player server in Linux, VAC, etc...). With all the incredibly talented people they employ, Valve ceases to amaze me when it comes to fucking things up. I dread updates to hlds or tfc because they always seem to redefine "horrible". I'm not looking forward to HL2 primarily because if it's been created by the same people who have literally destroyed a game I USED to love, I can only expect to be disappointed. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't hate Valve. Considering this game is what, 5 years old now and they STILL support it and update it, that's quite remarkable and I believe everyone appreciates their dedication. However, I wish they would get a LOT more feedback from the community that puts dollars in their pockets before they decide to update anything. Whatever, I'm just angry. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of lastshooter Sent: Monday, August 18, 2003 12:23 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] An ask to Valve > Now, you might have other reasons to complain, but if your server is > overrun by cheaters you only have your own lazy ass to blame, the > tools for cheatprevention has been there for you all the time. Excuse me? I ran CD long before VAC, it has one big problem, its a required dl and install. In fact, I know of no leagues that require it, NONE. VAC does seem to work imho, the CS cheats show up as soon as an update is out. The TFC community has dropped badly, and I also suspect that the amount of CS servers that run CD is low percentage wise. So, keep your head stuck in the sand and pretend all is well. Until an effective wide spread anti-cheat is used, as in VAC, your community will continue to decline. TFC has had no updates, VAC or otherwise in a long, long time, all valve ever does is spout meaningless promise's. Well, i blame all the 3rd party server/client anticheat programs that came after punkbuster. punkbuster was accepted due to it was the only one (almost). after PB decided to give up on HL, there came a huge amount of others that tried todo the same. thats when users stopped believe in downloading AC-clients. > In fact, I know of no leagues that require it, NONE. VAC > does seem to work imho, the CS cheats show up as soon as an update is out. No big league should depend on any AC. not even VAC. > Frankly, I've had it, and so have a lot of other people. Well, at least the the glass is getting really filled up. There are 2 things that i want valve to do.. 1. Get a lower CPU usage on HLDS 2. Get as low latency as possible I would rather see them stop working on cs1.6 and getting these things fixed first.. /Bjorn -- Your mouse has moved.
