I can guarantee that sending a backtrace every day will do nothing but make a lot of people angry and start flagging your emails as spam (and thus not get read). Re: [hlds_linux] CS:S Crash
Mani has lots of exploits. New crash methods.. They join the server and don't even get in before it's totally crashed..this is a socket bug... This crash is possible on a pure vanilla installation. The attacker's connection may not show up in logs because they do not finish connecting before causing the crash. Firewall the whole server off and see if it still crashes. If you firewall it off and it still crashes, your server's particular linux installation might be bad and prone to srcds crashing on it. Talk to GSP about that one. Re: [hlds_linux] CS:S Crash
Hello, Let's be logical about this. If this was a general CS:S problem, then everyone would be seeing it. CS:S works for most people, so we know the application is not completely broken. If you have all incoming ports (TCP and UDP) blocked by a firewall, then the problem is most likely not being caused by anything external. So it could be a problem with your hardware (maybe bad RAM?), your operating system (maybe an incorrect version of some library?), or a bug in the game which is specific to your hardware or OS (or both). Some basic things to try (and forgive me if these were mentioned before): 1. Remove the bots from the game (does an empty server still crash?) 2. Double-check your startup command line and your config file (are there missing, incorrect, or unnecessary things in them?) Also, a few questions (again, these may have been covered already): What is you startup command line? What are the *exact* specs of your system (processor model number, etc.) What is the OS version? - Dave (Please note that I had to trim most of the previous messages from this e-mail because the message body was too big for the mailing list the first time I tried to send it). - Original Message - From: Ratman2000 ratman2...@ratmod.de Date: Saturday, November 14, 2009 5:20 pm Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] CS:S Crash To: Half-Life dedicated Linux server mailing list hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com Hello, i say it again: On my Server all Connections are Blocked (incomming) And the Server has no Plugins! It is the rcon crash exploit again. This has still not been properly dealt with and, apparently, CS:S server functionality is at the whim of the attackers.
