This is happening to me as well, across multiple machines with varying
 intel
chipsets (5000v/5100) running debian lenny. It seems to be VAC/zblock
related, if vac is disabled zblock works fine, no crashes. Same if you try
it the other way around. Combine the two and it will crash all day long.
Unfortunately all of the competitive players need both of these to be
working, considering this started happening out of the blue one day across
multiple machines without modification and no obvious updates to zblock
 it's
 easy to point at vac.

Let's be logical about this. If this was a general CS:S problem, then
everyone would be seeing it. CS:S works for most people, so we know the

 (TCP
and UDP) blocked by a firewall, then the problem is most likely not being
caused by anything external. So it could be a problem with your hardware
(maybe bad RAM?), your operating system (maybe an incorrect version of
 some
library?), or a bug in the game which is specific to your hardware or OS
 (or
 both).

Some basic things to try (and forgive me if these were mentioned before):

 1. Remove the bots from the game (does an empty server still crash?)
 2. Double-check your startup command line and your config file (are there
missing, incorrect, or unnecessary things in them?)

Also, a few questions (again, these may have been covered already):

What is you startup command line?
What are the *exact* specs of your system (processor model number, etc.)
 What is the OS version?

I can guarantee that sending a backtrace every day will do nothing but
make a lot of people angry and start flagging your emails as spam (and
thus not get read). Perhaps find a VALVe support email address and spam
them instead?

Let me tell you all what this is about...

1. Flooding program. Fix this with the dos attacker fixer..
2. Random crashes you say? This abuse on mani commands in the console, and
other rcon commands.. this can be blocked with sourcemod
3. New crash methods.. They join the server and don't even get in before it's
totally crashed..this is a socket bug...
4. Crash on servers which do not run add's and plugg's? This could be the
socket bug.. i have downloaded the files my self to check it out.. Just waiting
for valve to fix that..

A fast solution = zblock 4.4

Let me tell you all what this is about...

 1. Flooding program. Fix this with the dos attacker fixer..
 2. Random crashes you say? This abuse on mani commands in the console, and
other rcon commands.. this can be blocked with sourcemod
 3. New crash methods.. They join the server and don't even get in before
 it's totally crashed..this is a socket bug...
 4. Crash on servers which do not run add's and plugg's? This could be the
socket bug.. i have downloaded the files my self to check it out.. Just
waiting for valve to fix that..

Re: [hlds_linux] CS:S Crash

2009-11-14 Thread David Parker
Hello,

Let's be logical about this.  If this was a general CS:S problem, then everyone
would be seeing it.  CS:S works for most people, so we know the application is
not completely broken.  If you have all incoming ports (TCP and UDP) blocked by
a firewall, then the problem is most likely not being caused by anything
external.  So it could be a problem with your hardware (maybe bad RAM?), your
operating system (maybe an incorrect version of some library?), or a bug in the
game which is specific to your hardware or OS (or both).

(Please note that I had to trim most of the previous messages from this e-mail
because the message body was too big for the mailing list the first time I
tried to send it).

crashing without fail during matches, all running no addon's. Is valve to

Hello,

it isnst the rcon crash!
Its an Crash, that comes after running the CS:S Server multiple hours!

I have posted the Debug information where the crash locates!
All Times it Crashes in the Nav Code! There have nothing to do with the Rcon
exploit!

My Server cant be used with Rcon becouse i dont accept connections from an
extern Computer!
So its 100% not the Rcon Crash :)

Valve? Whats to do now? Can You Fix this bug?
Please inform us! I can send you many gdb Debug Logs!

wait, since when does srcds based servers support 64 players? Did I miss

Hello,

CS:S is for up to 64 Slots!
It was allways so!

My start params:

-console -game cstrike +map de_dust2 +maxplayers 64 -tickrate 100

There is no trick! No Plugin and nothing else! Its an blank install!

I have now startet a 16 Slot Server and added 10 Bots to it... So i will see
what happend...
