something equal) would be the admin. To set up your own SDS, I think there

We will be able to replicate and emphasize what happened a few months ago in 
Lubumbashi, DRC with an interaction between the HOT-OSM worldwide community and 
Hotties in the field, teaching government, local authorities and local 
communities to use OSM for mapping and more specifically this time crisis 
preparedness, as the areas of interests are flood prone along the Shire river. 
We will also set OSM Community mobilizers that will be identified throughout 
the project to continue the mapping and the interaction in the future. I get 
back soon as mentioned in the blog post with a first TM job and presets to make 
evolve.

Yes awesome post.  We will follow this project with interest again.  Good 
mission to all of you.

I hope that you will be able to integrate to some degree small devices into 
your field  survey workflow, testing OSM editor tools on Android or other 
platform.


These pelican cases accompany us since Haiti in 2010. They have their own story 
including in Limonade, Haiti last year, moving them from places to places.

[HOT] Tropical Storm BERTHA

in Haiti around midnight tomorrow night (Saturday, August 2nd). It could
result in serious storms, floods, and landslides.

[HOT] 2014 Gaza Strip Pre building on OSM

For coordinating future interventions and humanitarian assistances, the 
Middle East & Near Africa Shelter Cluster in partnership with Terre des 
Hommes,   decided to launch the digitalization of Gaza buildings, in close 
relation with OpenStreetMap contributors,  based on an imagery of the July 
6, 2014.

The results will be essential to fine tune existing UNOSAT damage 
assessment and to provide to the humanitarian community a precise baseline 
for analysis related to destruction and  population displaced.

The baseline will be completed later on with more exhaustive damage 
assessment and results will be available for GIS expert and the 
humanitarian organization providing gaza field assistance.

I'm working on task#611 using josm v7347 (current stable).

After downloading a task via Remote Control, JOSM displays the layer 
with a warning symbol and prints big "Upload is discouraged and may be 
reverted" messages.


I can download, change and upload manually without problems.

Anyone know what's up there?

If I import a shp file in JOSM and convert to OSM, a tag upload=false is added 
to the osm header of the OSM file. 




In such case, if I try to upload to OSM, I receive this warning message.  But 
when selecting a task from the Task Manager, this tag should not be added to 
the JOSM file. Fred Moine opened a ticket for this I think.

In the meantime, just ignore this message when you are editing in JOSM data 
transfered by the Task Manager.

Oh yes, mucho kudos to Severin for setting up the kits. Every spare minute
during the HOT Board meeting, Sev was installing Ubuntu, unpacking a box,
etc.


I'm going to head over to the Hub sometime this week to recycle all the
GPS, latpop, etc boxes!

Hello David,

just as a possible workaround:

the warning happens only with the first data layer in josm, that will be
created from hot task manager and if it is the first ever layer in josm
after josm startup.

If you start josm and start a new empty layer and the click in hot task
manager, the layer will not have the problem.

I've received private word that ticking "Download objects to new layer" 
in JOSM's Remote Control preferences panel fixes this problem. Indeed 
with that option enabled, I get two separate layers, one for the OSM 
data and one for the task marker.

Fred, thanks for organizing this. Very good we can OSM can be of use in
this crisis.

A note from HOT's history. The 2008-9 Israel-Gaza conflict is considered
the first HOT activation. We raised money to purchase imagery and worked
out the rights to digitize, in areas not covered by Yahoo imagery. Later,
JumpStart International built on our experience in the West Bank, and
worked with engineering students in Gaza to map on the ground.
