Google Cyclone Pam Crisis map shows the track of the cyclone. We see that north of Vanuatu, it does not pass close to islands. But there were report of some vulnerability of islands in Kiribati.https://mapsengine.google.com/06831253009698256830-04330043000251498305-4/mapview/?authuser=0 Individual contributors can go there, map and evaluate if this needs more care. regard Pierre ___ HOT mailing list HOT@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/hot

Thanks Rob With the dense forests, we can sometimes see partial roofs, which let us confirm various isoleted residential areas. In general, this is probably metallic roofs. I have not spot any huts so far or more traditionnal housings in these areas. To document the mapping, it would greatly help to have pictures. Hi, Severin: By 2010 I had my first smartphone, but unfortunately I took almost all my pictures with a camera, so no geolocation. I have many pictures that show a long way around Tanna island in the south, and others of hamlets, small villages. I can only geolocalize a few of them, using my memory and some waypoints that I still have in my Garmin. I remember to get some tracks, but it seems that I deleted them or can't find them. I'm using some of this info for mapping in Tanna. I have more photos of Espiritu Santo and the Torres group in the North, but those islands it seems they weren't affected. The extent of the disaster zone to cover from the north to the south is 650 km long. The post-assessment evaluation will be difficult and the pre-disaster informations should be very usefull for the response. In this context, we want to trace all the buildings. This will be difficult with the dense tropical forests and the MapBox imagery lower resolution as compared to Bing. Use Bing wherever it is available. Complete with MapBox. In the Task Manager Job 945, we provide instructions to facilitate tracing with MapBox. This is a little hack with specifying tms:17. http://tasks.hotosm.org/project/945 Please do your best and thanks again for your effort. Great Crowdsourcing effort from the community again. Thanks to all for this quick response. Be assure that the International community is quite happy about this. We repeated what we did for the first day of the Ebola response. In 20 hours, we covered all the priority islands to map (both jobs are about 99% completed). There are no discussions yet with our partners about the next steps that would be necessary. Validation + Communication towers + landing areas I want to enhance the map while we do the validation step. Please, follow the following intructions : - Spot communication towers even if this is uneasy- For each village, assure that a common space has been added (leisure=common) and trace major buildings http://tasks.hotosm.org/project/943 http://tasks.hotosm.org/project/944 Coordination with the DHNetwork We started a Skype communication room a few hours ago with the DHNetwork partners. Still incomplete News with the communication problems, the bad weather and all the remote villages. An update indicates that many villages were swept (up to 90% destroyed). Jean-Guilhem collaborates with Jus Mackinnon to prepare an Impact map showing pictures of various areas. Data Exports The HOT Exports will let us offer map export updates.
