  "conformal" = "konformal" or "konform"?

This is a mathematical term, Mercator and Stereographic projections are
'conformal', they have low local distortion.

Yes. Some time ago I thought about that possibility too, but
"ensamblar", according to the RAE, goes more towards to join, to adjust,
to assemble. "Empalmar", instead, goes more in direction to interlace,
which seems to be the intention of the author(s). But I could be wrong.

I will need to compare the .po file that was sent to me with the translation
i made i might finish this today or in friday...

There are some suggestions i think it might come in handy, for example where
it says empalmar, you could use the frase ensamblaje del panorama for
example..

"conformal" = "konformal" or "konform"?

This is a mathematical term, Mercator and Stereographic projections
are 'conformal', they have low local distortion.

Re: [hugin-ptx] description needed for translation

2010-11-30 Thread J. Schneider
Hi Carl, hi all,
fortunately poedit tolerates being opened in two instances so I could
search Carl's file for the strings that mine lacked. Added a few more
and uploaded, so it is "checked in" again.
There are some strings left and I left them because I don't know where
they belong:

"Combined stacks:"
currently "Verbundene Stapel:"

"Founded panoramas"
Does it mean "Found panoramas"?

"Cleanup arguments:"

"Format:"
currently "Dateiformate", was marked as fuzzy in my file.

"Let me fix that"

"The prefix of an assistant target can not be changed."

"conformal" = "konformal" or "konform"?

Could somebody help here?

Best regards
Joachim

Habi suggested using Launchpad's translate functionality a while ago. Would
that help? It brings a whole set of other consequences that need to be
considered. We can have a look at this next year if the translators find it
useful.

Yes, it's good not to depend on luck, and even better not to depend on tools
that represent roadblocks for new/occasional translators.

if you have both de.po files, you can visualize the difference between them
using diff.

if you want to solve conflicting translation, use a tool like vimdiff and go
line by line to choose which of the two conflicting versions to use.

Thanks for the hints, Yuv. I'll have a look at

Maybe I'm wrong but I think it's more or less what TextWrangler's "Find
Differences" dialog does, I already tried that. The only "problem" with
this approach is that poedit rearranges the order of the strings upon
saving: new strings on top, then fuzzy ones, old ones last. So two files
with a different status of translated strings will have a different sort
order.
Clicking on column titles doesn't work in poedit, and I found no menu
command for this.

I really favour ascii files but for this special problem an xml based
system might be helpful (just dreaming). It's not such a big problem
though, we just need to compare about two dozen entries.

I only think about different approaches how we can work around this
little ugly trap for translators. Something that mimiks a check out
system but is so easy to use that we don't have another threshold for
new contributors.

Hi Carl,

usually I don't work on a translation for long and I usually upload even few
changes soon to avoid this situation. But the idea of some mechanism in the
tracker to emulate a check out is good.

I would try to compare the files with Notepad++. (First populate the empty
translation fields in one or both files with dummy strings.) Though you are
better off concerning screens, I think I would manage this way. It shouldn't be
more than 26 translations to copy. Plus those were one realizes that one

Re: [hugin-ptx] description needed for translation

2010-11-30 Thread Carl von Einem

Hi Joachim,

you are right, my changes aren't uploaded yet. It seems that we both
have finished about the same amount of strings. Hopefully not the
same... I don't know if msgmerge (it was mentioned by Thomas yesterday)
can be used to merge two half finished po files. Maybe it's better to
manually compare both files.
Do you have an idea how to solve this in an easy way? Otherwise I could
manually merge our two files with the new file provided by Thomas. At
least I have two 21" screens (and both also work in portrait
orientation) so I can open all these po files in poedit at the same time...

I wonder if there's a way that we can avoid this double work in the
future. If it was "real code" we would presumably be able to check out
the po file so that others know someone (and who) is working on it. A
special thread ("translation:de") in the bug tracker maybe?

Cheers,
Carl

[hugin-ptx] description needed for translation

2010-11-29 Thread Carl von Einem

Hi,

I'm about to translate the new strings for the 2010.4 de.po and have
some questions:

- line 5646 "Skip over visibility toggles"
This otion can be checked in Preferences -> General -> User Interface:
Undo: [ ] Skip over visibility toggles
Can someone describe what this actually does, please?

- line 3235 "Searches in directories after suitable panorams from image
files"

There is a typo in the original version: 'panoramas' instead of 'panorams'
BTW: Wouldn't it be better to write "Searches in directories for image
files suitable for panoramas"?

- ReadMe of the Mac version
Harry, I spotted one minor typo in the file "Read me first (Mac).rtfd".
The paragraph "Typical Installation Procedure for Hugin" contains a typo
in 3.: Ppint -> Point
