No, the calendar resets to baktun 0.0.0.0.0, which is effectively only a new cycle. (BTW, writing a Maya date conversion routine is a great programming problem for new REXX programmers -- involves base 20 math, and if you add the full day god and hour of the night specs, it's a great exercise). It's 12.19.18.7.17 13 Caban 5 Zotz for those keeping count at home. 8-)

I just find it annoying that no one at IBM seems to remember (other than you), and the lack of a major prereq seems to be a convenient excuse for more and more IBM CMS-based products to go quietly into that good night, never to be seen again.
Re: IBM Sterling Connect:Direct for z/VM Announcement
VSE/VSAM has had a lot of enhancements over the last few years. It was getting to be a maintenance headache to also keep VM/VSAM compatible with VSE/VSAM. Also, VM/VSAM was part of VSE/VSAM so those customers using it that also had VSE did not have to pay anything. The ROI was not good for all the new coding that was going to have to be done. I think it was a mistake, but I don't run IBM so have no say in the matter. :-) Tony Thigpen Opinions are my own. -Original Message - From: Tom Huegel Sent: 07/06/2011 05:13 PM Other than to say 'it was a buisness decision' has IBM ever actually said why they killed VM-VSE/VSAM?? CICS/VM .. I had almost forgotten about that beast. Back in the day my boss thought he could get rid of VSE and run CICS/VM only... It was quite comical at the time, because the IBM sales staff had not even heard of CICS/VM .. although they were happy to sell it to us... Needless to say, it never made it off the ground.
