Thank you Laree. I love the Davis quote.

We once took care of a little boy who was severely brain injured and in a
way that left him, according to his doctors, irritable. Not irritable in a
cranky way, but just edgy and unhappy. He didn't walk or speak or see. All
his needs had to be met for caregivers. He cried a lot and didn't sleep
well. I took him and our daughter Brenda to a farm day put on by a local
farmer for school children. They had ponies in a riding ring, an activity
that the normally buoyant Brenda hated. We decided to try to put David up
on a pony. He began his ride sort of slumped over and wobbly, but before he
had made a circuit of the ring, he was sitting up tall with a huge grin on
his face. It was a sight to bring tears to anyone who loves horses and what
they bring to us.

Recently I had an email from a gal who has a friend with an Icelandic. She
has always wanted an Icelandic, but now that she knows her friend's horse,
she had changed her mind. She said that the horse is reserved, doesn't
quite like people.

I told her to come and see my horses!

That the horses do not have to be like that; and that it was my opinion that
the particular horse, knowing where it came from, was made that way. It
would just take a little work to open the horse up and it would probably be
more friendly and enjoy seeing her.
