This is quite interesting! The flowers looks like a species of Fabaceae but the fruits (looks like *Aegle marmalos)* are confusing! Another possibility is Polygalaceae and I was thinking about species of *Securidaca * but here leaves are compound and fruits are not that of *Securidaca * spp To run the key of Fabaceae with these pictures are very difficult for me. Re: [efloraindia:94680] Fabaceae-Faboideae (Papilionaceae) Week: A great success congratulations Dr. Satish Phadke
What a wonderful week we had experienced with *Fabaceae-Faboideae (Papilionaceae) Week*. Every body had wholeheartedly contributed towards the same from all around the country and we were fortunate to see some beautiful Fabacean species from Australia by Ushaprabha ji as well. Thanks to Ushaprabha ji for the same. Above all, a hats off salute to Satish ji for the wonderful coordination and encouragement all throughout and his personal contribution would be much higher than that of everybody else, I guess, as he tops in the list (as of now) for the month. And of course, Gurcharangi as well contributed with some unique Fabacean plants as well, as usual. Thank you sir for the same Congratulations and Thanks to Satish ji for all the supports and a successful coordination. Thanks to all members for the active participation. I can't believe that you were/are using a mobile camera to capture these pictures. I was thinking of a compact digital camera. Re: [efloraindia:94563] ID Please, Pic Taken in Parambikulam Tiger Reserve
Dear Vinod ji, Welcome to the group. Very nice to see people from Chennai to come up to have active participation and discussion on plants in our group. It will give us opportunity to see more plants from the Coromandel Coast as well. Thank you for the picture of a ground Orchid from Parambikulam. To confirm the id up to species level we need more characters related to the plant such as plant size time of flowering etc. Would you please upload a picture with its leaf and complete inflorescence. Further when viewing the picture you have uploaded I could see a vague image. I too think that this is *Habenaria. *Kindly consider my request to share more information related to the plant and more pictures, if available. I would like to bring few points to your kind notice for subsequent posting with id request. Please use a unique subject line e.g.* Plant for ID 18/10/2011 AS 1 (date/ first letters of your first and last name/number of posts for a specific day).* It would be better if you could provide the necessary information related to the plant along with the post. Re: [efloraofindia:94270] Fabaceae-Faboideae (Papilionaceae) Week : Shrubs/Herbs : Desmodium triquetrum
I think there is a mix up. Pictures *Desmodium triquetrum1s.jpg, **Desmodium triquetrum2s.jpg, **Desmodium triquetrum9.jpg, **Desmodium triquetrum10.jpg *are of * * *Desmodium triquetrum *and others, I think other pictures might belong to *D. laxiflorum *because the inflorescence stalk and pedicel are hairy in the later sets of pictures where as though the inflorescence stalk is slightly hairy but pedicels are not. Further the length of the pedicel varies then the standard petals in the second sets are whitish. Consider the bract as well. * * * * If you have picture/s of the leaves of the later sets, please check whether the leaves have winged petiole. * ** * Regards Giby On 12 November 2011 23:05, Satish Phadke wrote: > *Desmodium triquetrum* > *Hedysarum triquetrum* 'Kakganga' > Mulshi October 2011. > Main character. Re: [efloraofindia:94253] efloraofindia:''For Id 12112011MR2’’ ?Euphorbia prostrata Pune
Dear Madhuri, I wish if the last picture is focused properly. I have a suggestion in this regard. Keep your palm just below the plant/objrct while focusing. Remove the palm after the object is focused but don't remove the focus button once the object is focused, straightaway click after removing your palm. You get a focused picture. When you shoot a single object when there are lots of other space in the frame the auto focus in the camera tend to focus the vast area in the frame other than the small object, unless you proffered for single point (center) focus. But unfortunately this wont work in auto mode of most of the compact and point ant shoot cameras. You have to use manual/shutter/aperture mode to prefer focus point. If you always use auto mode then you try practice the aforementioned method it works. Few suggestions for consideration for the plant in the picture *Chamaesyce thymifolia, C. hypericifolia *and* Euphorbia prostrata*. Further, I think you forgot to reduce the file size. Thank you Vijay for the possible id. Further, I would like to clarify few points. While checking the Kew herbarium ( http://apps.kew.org/herbcat/getImage.do?imageBarcode=K000633877) the leaves seems to be entire and obtuse at tip (attaching a cropped picture for closer look). Here the leaf tip is mucronate and, towards the tip (though, I don't remember it from the field), it looks like it is slightly serrate. But the specific epithet is apt for its behavior as it looks like *Evolvulus*(vegetative phase) Our library is closed as Saturday is holiday for ATREE. I will refer on Monday.
