Bismillah [IslamCity] dua
According to Hadith, there are many times when dua is accepted, for example after every obligatory salah, at the time of Tahajjud, between the time of Azan and Iqamah, when it starts raining, while in a journey, doing dua after praising Allah and reciting durood, doing dua in the sajdah of nafl salah. In the sajdah, one should recite only the duas which are narrated from the Prophet ((صلى الله عليه وسلم, it is not allowed to do dua in sajdah in Urdu language. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) used to pray after every obligatory salah: أللهم أنت السلام ومنك السلام You should study in the books of Ahadiht the chapter: باب ما يقول بعد السلام, you will find many traditions there. Also, there is a special chapter named ابواب الدعوات containing a number of duas. and Allah (Subhana Wa Ta'ala) Knows Best
Bismillah [IslamCity] The Tafsir of Surat Al-Muzzammil
The Tafsir of Surat Al-Muzzammil (Chapter - 73) Which was revealed in Makkah (In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. (1. O you wrapped up!) (2. Stand (to pray) all night, except a little.) (3. Half of it or less than that, a little.) (4. Or a little more. And Rattil the Qur'an Tartil.) (5. Verily, We shall send down to you a Word Thaqil.) (6. Verily, rising (Nashi'ah) at night is better for understanding and more suitable for speech (recitation).) (7. Verily, for you in the day is lengthy Sabh.) (8. And remember the Name of your Lord and (Tabattil) devote yourself to Him with complete devotion.) (9. Lord of the east and the west; La ilaha illa Huwa, so take Him as a trustee.) The Command to stand at Night (in Prayer) Allah commands His Messenger to cease being wrapped up, and this means to be covered during the night. He commands him to get up and stand in prayer to His Lord. This is as Allah says, (Their sides forsake their beds, to invoke their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend out of what We have bestowed on them.) (32:16) Thus, the Prophet did as Allah ordered him, by standing for prayer at night. This was obligatory upon him alone, as Allah said, (And in some parts of the night offer the Salah with it (the Qur'an), as an additional prayer for you. It may be that your Lord will raise you to Maqam Mahmud.) (17:79) Here Allah explains how much prayer he should perform. Allah says, (O you wrapped up! Stand all night, except a little.) Ibn `Abbas, Ad-Dahhak and As-Suddi all said, (O you wrapped up!) "This means, O you who are asleep.'' Qatadah said, "The one who is wrapped up in his garments.'' Concerning Allah's statement, [] (Half of it) means, instead of the whole night. (A little less than that, or a little more.) meaning, `We have commanded you to stand in prayer for half of the night, either a little more than it or a little less. There is no hardship on you concerning that (slight increase or decrease). The Way of reciting the Qur'an Concerning Allah's statement, [وَرَتِّلِ الْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلاً] (And Rattil the Qur'an Tartil.) meaning, recite it slowly, for that will help in understanding the Qur'an and contemplating it. This is how the Prophet used to recite. `A'ishah said, "He (the Prophet) used to recite the chapter slowly, so much so that it would be longer than chapters that were actually longer than it.'' In Sahih Al-Bukhari, it is recorded from Anas that he was asked about the recitation of the Messenger of Allah , so he replied, "He used to elongate the letters.'' Then he (Anas) recited, (In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.) (1:1) and he elongated "In the Name of Allah,'' and he elongated "The Most Gracious,'' and he elongated "The Most Merciful.'' Ibn Jurayj reported from Ibn Abi Mulaykah, who narrated from Umm Salamah that she was asked about the recitation of the Messenger of Allah , so she said, "He used to pause in his recitation, verse by verse. (In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is Allah's, the Lord of all that exists. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The Only Owner of the Day of Recompense.) (1:1-4) This was recorded by Ahmad, Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi. We have already mentioned the Hadiths which prove the recommendation of slow rhythmic recitation and beautification of the voice while reciting at the beginning of this Tafsir. For example, the Hadith which states, (Beautify the Qur'an with your voices.) and the Hadith, (He is not of us who does not chant nicely with the recitation of the Qur'an.) and the Hadith, (Verily, he has been given this windpipe from the windpipes of the family of Dawud.) Referring to Abu Musa. Abu Musa replied, "If I knew that you had been listening to my recitation, I would have truly beautified it for you.'' It has been narrated from Ibn Mas`ud that he said, "Do not scatter the (recitation of) Qur'an out like the scattering of sand, and do not rush through it like the hasty recitation of poetry. Stop at its amazing parts and make your heart move with it. None of you should let his concern be to reach the end of the chapter.'' This has been recorded by Al-Baghawi. Al-Bukhari recorded from Abi Wa'il that he said, "A man came to Ibn Mas`ud and said, `I read the Mufassal chapters (from Qaf to An-Nas) last night in one unit of prayer.' Ibn Mas`ud said, `This is rushing like the haste of reciting poetry. the Most Merciful. Bismillah [IslamCity] hadith
Evil Thoughts Are Not Harmful To Faith And There Will Be No Punishment On Them(54) It is related by Abu Hurairah that the Apostle of God said: “God has forgiven my followers evil thoughts and misgivings and there will be no punishment on them until they are acted upon or uttered by the tongue.” -Bukhari and Muslim Commentary:- Sometimes most filthy ideas assail a man's heart and skeptical and atheistic questions arise in his mind. In this Tradition the assurance is given that as long as these desires, notions, doubts or fears remain confined to thought and feeling, there will be no punishment on them from God. But if they are given expression to, by word or deed, Divine chastisement will, of course, follow. (55) Narrates Abdullah bin Abbas that, once, a person came to the Prophet and said, “Sometimes such wicked ideas come to my mind that I would prefer to be burnt down and reduced to charcoal than to give utterance to them.” The Prophet replied, “Praise be to Allah who turned back the matter towards thought sentiment.” -Abu Dawood Commentary:- The questioner is advised here not to eat his heart out but be grateful to God that, out of His grace, He protected his inmost self against adopting and accepting the vicious notions and desires and did not allow them to go beyond the realm of thinking and feeling. (56) It is related by Abu Hurairah that, once, some Companions presented themselves before the Apostle of God and said, “Our condition is that sometimes we experience such evil thoughts and sentiments in our heart that it is most painful even to mention them.” “Is it really so?” inquired the Prophet. “Yes”, replied the Companions, “This is our condition.” “But that is pure Faith,” the Prophet exclaimed. -Muslim Commentary:- It shows that to feel so greatly distressed at notions that are contrary to Islam and the Shariat that it may be intolerable even to bring them on the tongue is a mark of the purity of Faith. (57) It is related by Abu Hurairah that the Apostle of God said: “Occasionally, Satan comes to you and asks, ‘Who created this thing [and] who created that thing,’ It goes on like that till about God Himself he sows the doubt in your hearts [that when everything has been created by someone] who is His creator? So when this stage is reached the bondsman should seek the refuge of the Lord and stop." -Bukhari and Muslim Commentary:- It shows that such ideas and misgivings are the handiwork of Satan and when he causes a doubt concerning the very existence of the Lord to crop up in anyone’s heart the best course for him is to beg the protection of God against the mischief of the Devil and divert his mind from it. When the existence of Allah is an Attribute of His Being and He is the Creator of all things a question like this does not arise about Him in the least degree. (58) It is related by Abu Hurairah that the Apostle of God said: “Vain questions and aimless arguments will go on among the people till the foolish question will also be asked that when God created all things, by whom was He created? So, anyone who is confronted with it should put an end to the discussion by declaring, ‘I believe in God and His Apostles.’” -Bukhari and Muslim Commentary:- The attitude of a faithful Believer to such ideas and inquiries should be that he plainly told the questioner, the doubt-instilling Satan and his own inmost self that the light of faith in God and His Apostle had reached him, and, therefore, the afore-mentioned question was not worthy of his consideration just as it was senseless for a clear-eyed person to think or discuss logically whether the sun was bright or not.
Bismillah [IslamCity] 72. Surah Al Jinn (The Jinn)
72. Surah Al Jinn (The Jinn) Name "Al-Jinn" is the name of this Surah as well as the title of its subject matter, for in it the event of the Jinn's hearing the Qur'an and returning to their people to preach Islam to them, has been related in detail. Period of Revelation According to a tradition related in Bukhari and Muslim, on the authority of Hadrat Abdullah bin Abbas, once the Holy Prophet (upon whom be peace) was going to Visit the Fair of Ukaz with some of his Companions, On the way be led the Fajr Prayer at Nakhlah. At that time a company of the jinn happened to pass that way. When they heard the Quran being recited, they tarried and listened to it attentively. This very event has been described in this Surah. Most of the commentators, on the basis of this tradition, believe that this relates to the Holy Prophet's well known journey to Taif, which had taken place three years before the Hijrah in the 10th year of the Prophethood. But this is not correct for several reasons. The jinn's hearing the Qur'an during the journey to Taif has been related in Al-Ahqaf 29-32. A cursory reading of those verses shows that the jinn who had believed after hearing the Qur'an on that occasion were already believers in the Prophet Moses and the previous scriptures. On the contrary, vv. 2- 7 of this surah clearly show that the jinn who heard the Qur'an on this occasion were polytheists and deniers of the Hereafter and Prophethood. Then, it is confirmed historically that in his journey to Taif none accompanied the Holy Prophet except Hadrat Zaid bin Harithah. On the contrary, concerning this journey Ibn Abbas says that the Holy Prophet (upon whom be peace) was accompanied by some of his Companions. Furthermore, the traditions also agree that in that journey the jinn heard the Qur'an when the Holy Prophet had stopped at Nakhlah on his return journey from Taif to Makkah, and in this journey, according to the traditions of Ibn Abbas, the event of the jinn's hearing the Qur'an occurred when the Holy Prophet was going to Ukaz from Makkah. Therefore, in view of these reasons what seems to be correct is that in Surah Al-Ahqaf and Surah Al Jinn, one and the same event has not been narrated, but these were two separate events, which took place during two separate journeys. As far as Surah Al-Ahqaf is concerned, it is agreed that the event mentioned in it occurred on the return journey from Taif in the 10th year of Prophethood. As for the question, when this second event took place, its answer is not given by the tradition of Ibn Abbas, nor any other historical tradition shows as to when the Holy Prophet had gone to the Fair of Ukaz along with some of his Companions. However, a little consideration of vv 8-10 of this surah shows that this could only be an event of the earliest stage of Prophethood. In these verses it has been stated that before the appointment of the Holy Prophet (upon whom be peace) to Divine Mission the jinn used to have one or another opportunity to eavesdrop in the heavens in order to hear news of the unseen, but after it they suddenly found that angels had been set as guards and meteorites were being shot on every side so that they could find no place of safety from where they could hear the secret news. Thereupon they had set about searching for the unusual thing that had occurred on the earth, or was going to occur, because of which the security measures had been tightened up. Probably since then many companies of the jinn must have been moving about in search of the unusual occurrence and one of them after having heard the Qur'an from the Holy Prophet (upon whom be peace) must have formed the opinion that that was the very thing for the sake of which all the gates of the heavens had been shut against the jinn. Reality of Jinn Before one starts the study of this Surah one must clearly know what is the reality of the jinn so as to avoid any possible mental confusion. Many people of the modern times are involved in the misunderstanding that the jinn are not real, but only a figment of the ancient superstition and myths. They have not formed this opinion on the basis that they have known all the realities and truths about the universe and have thus discovered that the jinn do not exist. They cannot claim to possess any such knowledge either. But they have assumed without reason and proof that nothing exists in the universe except what they can see, whereas the sphere of human perceptions as against the vastness of this great universe is not even comparable to a drop of water as against the ocean. Here, the person who thinks that what he does not perceive, does not exist, and what exists must necessarily be perceived, in fact, provides a proof of the narrowness of his own mind. With this mode of thought, not to speak of the jinn, man cannot even accept and acknowledge any reality, which he cannot directly experience and observe, and he cannot even

Bismillah [IslamCity] we are muslim
First of all it is essential to know that Muslim men and Muslim women are obliged to follow the commands of Allaah and His Messenger, no matter how difficult that may be for people and without feeling shy of other people. The believer who is sincere in his faith is the one who is sincere in carrying out his duty towards his Lord and obeying His commands and avoiding that which He has forbidden. No believer, man or woman, has the right to hesitate or delay with regard to commands; rather he or she should hear and obey immediately, in accordance with words of Allaah (interpretation of the meaning): “It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allaah and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any option in their decision” [al-Ahzaab 33:36] This is the case with the believers who are praised by their Lord in the aayah (interpretation of the meaning): “The only saying of the faithful believers, when they are called to Allaah (His Words, the Qur’aan) and His Messenger, to judge between them, is that they say: “We hear and we obey.” And such are the successful (who will live forever in Paradise). And whosoever obeys Allaah and His Messenger , fears Allaah, and keeps his duty (to Him), such are the successful” [al-Noor 24:51-52] Moreover, the Muslim should not look at how small or great the sin is, rather he should look at the greatness and might of the One Whom he is disobeying, for He is the Most Great, the Most High; He is Mighty in strength and Severe in punishment, and His punishment is severe and painful and humiliating. If He exacts vengeance on those who disobey Him, then utter destruction will be their fate. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Such is the Seizure of your Lord when He seizes the (population of) towns while they are doing wrong. Verily, His Seizure is painful (and) severe. Indeed in that (there) is a sure lesson for those who fear the torment of the Hereafter. That is a Day whereon mankind will be gathered together, and that is a Day when all (the dwellers of the heavens and the earth) will be present” [Hood 11:102-103] A sin may appear insignificant in the eyes of a person when before Allaah it is serious, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “you counted it a little thing, while with Allaah it was very great” [al-Noor 24:15] This matter is as some of the scholars said: “Do not look at the smallness of the sin, rather look at the One Whom you are disobeying.” We have to obey Allaah and do as He commands. We must remember that He is watching in secret and in public, and avoid that which He has forbidden. With regard to belief, if a Muslim who prays commits some sins or bad deeds, he is still a Muslim so long as he does not commit any action which would put him beyond the pale of Islam or do any of the things which nullify Islam. This sinful Muslim will be subject to the will of Allaah in the Hereafter; if He wills He will punish him, and if He wills He will forgive him. If he enters Hell in the hereafter, he will not abide there forever. But no person can be certain as to his fate, as to whether the punishment will befall him or not, because this matter is known only to Allaah. Sins are divided into two categories, minor and major. Minor sins may be expiated for by prayer, fasting and righteous deeds. Major sins (which are those concerning which a specific warning has been narrated, or for which there is a specific hadd punishment in this world or torment in the Hereafter) cannot be expiated for by righteous deeds. Rather the one who commits such sins has to repent sincerely from them. Whoever repents, Allaah will accept his repentance. There are many kinds of major sins such as lying, zinaa, riba (usury/interest), stealing, not wearing hijaab at all, and so on. Based on the above, we cannot say for certain whether a woman who does not wear hijaab will enter Hell, but she deserves the punishment of Allaah because she has disobeyed His command to her. With regard to her specific fate, Allaah knows best what it will be. We cannot speak about things of which we have no knowledge, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And follow not (O man, i.e., say not, or do not, or witness not) that of which you have no knowledge. Verily, the hearing, and the sight, and the heart of each of those ones will be questioned (by Allaah)” [al-Israa’ 17:36] It is sufficient deterrent for the Muslim whose heart is aware to know that if he does a certain action he will be exposed to the punishment of his Lord, because His punishment is severe and painful, and His Fire is hot indeed. “The Fire of Allaah, kindled, Which leaps up over the hearts” [al-Humazah 104:6-7] On the other hand, for the woman who obeys her Lord’s commands – including observing complete hijaab – we hope that she will enter Paradise and attain the victory of salvation from the Fire and its torments. It
Bismillah [IslamCity] سورة الفاتحة
سورة الفاتحة Sura #1 | Makkah 1 In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. 2 Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; 3 Most Gracious, Most Merciful; 4 Master of the Day of Judgment. 5 Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek. 6 Show us the straight way, 7 The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray. tafsir 1. Surah Al Fatihah (The Opening) Name This Surah is named Al-Fatihah because of its subject-matter. Fatihah is that which opens a subject or a book or any other thing. In other words, Al-Fatihah is a sort of preface. Period of Revelation It is one of the very earliest Revelations to the Holy Prophet. As a matter of fact, we learn from authentic Traditions that it was the first complete Surah which was revealed to Muhammad (Allah's peace be upon him). Before this, only a few miscellaneous verses were revealed which form parts of `Alaq, Muzzammil, Muddaththir, etc. Theme This Surah is in fact a prayer which Allah has taught to all those who want to make a study of His book. It has been placed at the very beginning of the book to teach this lesson to the reader: if you sincerely want to benefit from the Quran, you should offer this prayer to the Lord of the Universe. This preface is meant to create a strong desire in the heart of the reader to seek guidance from the Lord of the Universe, Who alone can grant it. Thus Al-Fatihah indirectly teaches that the best thing for a man is to pray for guidance to the straight path, to study the Quran with the mental attitude of a seeker- after-truth and to recognize the fact that the Lord of the Universe is the source of all knowledge. He should, therefore, begin the study of the Quran with a prayer to him for guidance. >From this theme, it becomes clear that the real relation between Al-Fatihah >and the Quran is not that of an introduction to a book but that of a prayer >and its answer. Al-Fatihah is the prayer from the servant and the Quran is the >answer from the Master to his prayer. The servant prays to Allah to show him >guidance and the Master places the whole of the Quran before him in answer to >his prayer, as if to say, "This is the Guidance you begged from Me." [1-3] In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.1 Praise is only for Allah,2 the Lord of the Universe,3 the All-Compassionate, the All-Merciful,4 the Master of the Day of Judgment.5 [4-7] Thee alone we worship6 and to Thee alone we pray for help.7 Show us the straight way,8 the way of those whom Thou hast blessed;9 who have not incurred Thy wrath, nor gone astray.10 1Islamic culture requires a man to commence everything with the name of Allah. If this is done consciously and sincerely, it will surely produce three good results. First, it will keep him away from evil, because the very name of Allah will impel him to consider whether he is justified in associating His name with a wrong deed or an evil intention. Secondly, the very mention of the name of Allah will create in him the right attitude of mind and direct him to the right direction. Thirdly,he will receive Allah's help and blessing and will be protected from the temptations of Satan, for Allah turns to a man when he turns to Him. 2It has been stated in the Introduction to this Surah that AI-Fatihah is a prayer. It begins with the praise of Allah to Whom it is addressed in order to teach us the right way of making a supplication. We should not put forward our request bluntly and abruptly without an appropriate introduction. The right way is to acknowledge the excellences and the favors and the high position of the One to Whom we address our prayer. That is why we begin our prayer with the praise of Allah, for He is the perfection of all excellences and .is also our Benefactor. We pay homage to Allah to show that we sincerely acknowledge His excellences and also are grateful to Him for His countless favours. It should also be noted that not only Praise is for Allah but also Praise is only for Allah. This distinction is very important because it cuts at the root of the worship of any of His creation. As none of them is worthy of praise, none is worthy of worship. No man, no angel, no prophet, no so-called god, no star, no idol, in short. none of His creation inherently possesses any good quality. If one has any, it is given by Allah. Hence the Creator of these qualities alone deserves devotion, worship, gratitude, and none of His creation. 3The word Rab which has been translated into `Lord' stands for (a) Master and Owner, (b) Sustainer, Provider and Guardian, (c) Sovereign, Ruler, Administrator and Organizer. Allah is the Lord of the Universe in all these senses. 4Although the Arabic word Rahman itself is in the superlative form and denotes the attributes of beneficence and mercy in the highest degree, even this word fails to ex
Bismillah [IslamCity] Story of Prophet SulaimanSolomon (pbuh)
Story of Prophet SulaimanSolomon (pbuh) Ibn Kathir Solomon inherited David's prophethood and dominion. This was not a material inheritance, as prophets do not bequeath their property. It is given away to the poor and needy, not to their relatives. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said The prophets' property will not be inherited, and whatever we leave is to be used for charity. (Sahih Al-Bukhari). And indeed We gave knowledge to David and Solomon, and they both said All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has preferred us above many of His believing slaves! And Solomon inherited (the knowledge of) David. He said O mankind! We have been taught the language of birds, and on us have been bestowed all things. This, verily, is an evident grace (from Allah). And there were gathered before Solomon his hosts of jinns and men, and birds, and they were all set in battle order (marching forwards). (Ch 2715-17 Quran). After his father's death, Solomon became king. He begged Allah for a kingdom such as none after him would have, and Allah granted his wish. Besides wisdom, Allah had blessed Solomon with many abilities. He could command the winds and understand and talk to birds and animals. Allah directed him to teach both men and jinns to mine the earth and extract its minerals to make tools and weapons. He also favored him with a mine of copper, which was a rare metal in those days. During his time horses were the common mode of transportation. They were very essential for defense, to carry soldiers and cart provisions and weapons of war. The animals were well cared for and well trained. One day Solomon was reviewing a parade of his stable. The fitness, beauty and posture of the horses fascinated him so much that he kept on stroking and admiring them. The sun was nearly setting, and the time for the middle prayer was passing by. When he realized this, he exclaimed I surely love the finer things of life than the service of my Lord! Return them to me. Almighty Allah revealed And to David We gave Solomon. How excellent a slave! Verily, he was ever oft returning in repentance (to Us)! When there were displayed before him, in the afternoon, well-trained horses of the highest breed (for jihad in Allah's cause). And he said Alas! I did love the good (these horses) instead of remembering my Lord (in my 'Asr prayer) till the time was over, and the sun had hidden in the veil of the night. Then he said Bring them (horses) back to me. Then he began to pass his hand over their legs and their necks (till the end of the display). And indeed We did try Solomon and We placed on his throne Jasadan (a devil, so he lost his kingdom for a while) but he did return (to his throne and kingdom by the Grace of Allah and he did return) to Allah with obedience and in repentance. He said My Lord! Forgive me, and bestow upon me a kingdom such as shall not belong to any other after me. Verily, You are the Bestower. So, We subjected to him the wind, it blew gently to his order whithersoever he willed, and also the devils from the jinns including every kind of builder and diver, and also other bound in fetters. (Saying of Allah to Solomon) This is Our gift, so spend you or withhold, no account will be asked. And verily, he enjoyed a near access to Us, and a good final return Paradise. (Ch3830-40 Quran). One day Solomon gathered his army, which had different battalions of men, jinns, birds, and animals. He marched them to the country of Askalon. While they were passing through a valley, an ant saw the approaching army and cried out to warn the other ants Run to your homes! Otherwise, unaware, Solomon and his army might crush you! Solomon, hearing the cry of the ant, smiled. He was glad that the ant knew him to be a prophet who would not intentionally harm Allah's creation. He thanked Allah for saving the ants' lives. Allah the Almighty narrated And there were gathered before Solomon his hosts of jinns and men, and birds, and they all were set in battle order (marching forwards). Till, when they came to a valley of the ants, one of the ants said O ants! Enter your dwellings, lest Solomon and his hosts crush you, while they perceive not. So he (Solomon) smiled, amused at her speech and said My Lord! Inspire and bestow upon me the power and ability that I maybe grateful for Your Favors which You have bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds that will please You, and admit me by Your Mercy among Your righteous slaves. (Ch 2717-19 Quran). In Jerusalem, on a huge rock, Solomon built a beautiful temple to draw the people to worship Allah. Today this building is known as The Dome of the Rock. From there, a large band of followers joined Solomon on pilgrimage to the Holy Mosque in Mecca. After they had completed their hajj, they traveled to Yemen and arrived in the city of San'a. Solomon was impressed by their clever method of channeling water all over their cities. He was keen to

There can be no doubt that the fitnah (temptation) of women is great. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “I have not left behind me any fitnah that is more harmful to men than women.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4808; Muslim, 2704. Hence the Muslim has to be cautious of this fitnah and keep away from anything that may cause him to fall prey to it. Some of the greatest causes of this fitnah are looking at women and mixing with them. Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts). That is purer for them. Verily, Allaah is All‑Aware of what they do. And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer palms of hands or one eye or dress like veil, gloves, headcover, apron), and to draw their veils all over Juyoobihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband’s fathers, or their sons, or their husband’s sons, or their brothers or their brother’s sons, or their sister’s sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islam), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of feminine sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allaah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful” [al-Noor 24:30-31] islamic sms service 03312125115 moderator

Bismillah [IslamCity] Little knowledge
Little knowledge Hazrat Usman Ghani was from the "Umayyah" family of Quraish Hazrat Usman Ghani ather's name was "Affan bin Abul-As" Hadrat Uthman (R.A.) accepted Islam when Abu Bakr (R.A.) preached to him One of the daughters of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu 'alaihi wa Sallam), Hadrat Ruqayyah (R.A.) was married to one of the sons of Abu Lahb (an arch-enemy of Islam). When the Holy Prophet(Sallallahu 'alaihi wa Sallam) started to preach Islam, Abu Lahb asked his son ‘Utbah to divorce her. Then the Holy Prophet married her to Hadrat Uthman (R.A.) Uthman (R.A.) gets the title of "Dhun-nurain" After the death of Hadrat Ruqayyah (R.A.), the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu 'alaihi wa Sallam) married his next daughter, "Umm Kulthum" with him and he was given the title of "Dhun-nurain" i.e., the man with two lights. When the Muhajirin (Emigrants) from Mecca came to Medina, they had great difficulty in getting drinking water. Hadrat Uthman (R.A.) bought a well named "bi’r-i-Rumah” from a Jew for twenty thousand dirhams for free use of Muslims. That was the first trust ever made in the history of Islam. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu 'alaihi wa Sallam) gave him the glad tidings of Paradise for this act __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Bismillah [IslamCity] Qurbani (part one)
The Sunnah Method of Qurbani It is more preferable for a Muslim to slaughter the animal of his Qurbani with his own hands. However, if he is unable to slaughter the animal himself, or does not want to do so for some reason, he can request another person to slaughter it on his behalf. In this case also, it is more preferable that he, at least, be present at the time of slaughter. However, his absence at the time of slaughter does not render the Qurbani invalid, if he has authorized the person who slaughtered the animal on his behalf. It is a Sunnah to lay the animal with its face towards the Qiblah, and to recite the following verse of the Holy Quran: I, being upright, turn my face towards the One who has created the heavens and the earth, and I am not among those who associate partners with Allah. ( Al-An'am, 6:79) But the most essential recitation when slaughtering an animal is: Bismillah, Allahu Akbar. (In the name of Allah, Allah is the greatest). If somebody intentionally avoids to recite it when slaughtering an animal, it does not only make his Qurbani unlawful, but also renders the animal haram, and it is not permissible to eat the meat of that animal. However, if a person did not avoid this recitation intentionally, but he forgot to recite it when slaughtering the animal, this mistake is forgiven and both the Qurbani and the slaughter are lawful. If somebody is unable to recite "Bismillah Allahu Akbar" in the Arabic language, he can recite the name of Allah in his own language by saying, "In the name of Allah". The Animals of Qurbani The following animals can be slaughtered to offer a Qurbani: 1. Goat, either male or female, of at least one year of age. 2. Sheep, either male or female, of at least six months of age. 3. Cow, ox buffalo of at least two years of age. 4. Camel, male or female, of at least five years of age. One head of goat or sheep is enough only for one person's Qurbani. But as for all other animals like cow, buffalo or camel, one head of each is equal to seven offerings thus allowing seven persons to offer Qurbani jointly in one such animal. If the seller of animal claims that the animal is of the recognized age and there is no apparent evidence to the contrary; one can trust his statement and the sacrifice of such an animal is lawful. The following defective animals are not acceptable in Qurbani: 1. Blind, one eyed or lame animal. 2. An animal so emaciated that it cannot walk to its slaughtering place. 3. An animal with one-third part of the ear or the nose or the tail missing. 4. An animal that has no teeth at all, or the major number of its teeth are missing. 5. An animal born without ears. The following animals are acceptable in Qurbani: 1. A castrated he - goat. (Rather, its Qurbani is more preferable). 2. An animal that has no horns, or its horns are broken. However, if the horns of an animal are uprooted totally so as to create a defect in the brain, its Qurbani is not lawful. 3. An animal the missing part of whose ear, nose or tail is less than one third. 4. A sick or injured animal, unless it has some above mentioned defects rendering its Qurbani unlawful No Alternate for Qurbani Some people think that instead of offering a Qurbani they should give its amount to some poor people as charity. This attitude is totally wrong. Actually, there are different forms of worship obligatory on Muslims. Each one of them has its own importance and none of them can stand for the other. It is not permissible for a Muslim to perform salah instead of fasting in Ramadan, nor is it permissible for him to give some charity instead of observing the obligatory Salah. Similarly, Qurbani is an independent form of worship and this obligation cannot be discharged by spending money in charity. However, if somebody, out of his ignorance or negligence, could not offer Qurbani on the three prescribed days (10th, 1lth and 12th Zulhijjah) then, in that case only, he can give the price of a Qurbani as sadaqah to those entitled to receive Zakah. But during the days of Qurbani no Sadaqah can discharge the obligation.
Bismillah [IslamCity] Story of Prophet Yunus/Jonah (pbuh)
Story of Prophet Yunus/Jonah (pbuh) Prophet Jonah (Yunus) (pbuh) also known as Dhan-Nun. About his people Almighty Allah said: Was there any town community that believed after seeing the punishment, and its Faith at that moment, saved it from the punishment? (the answer is none)--except the people of Jonah; when they believed, We removed from them the torment of disgrace in the life of the present world, and permitted them to enjoy for a while. (Ch 10:98 Quran) The inhabitants of the town of Nineveh were idolaters who lived a shameless life. Prophet Jonah (pbuh) was sent to teach them the worship of Allah. The people disliked his interference in their way of worship, so they argued. "We and our forefathers have worshipped these gods for many years and no harm has come to us." Try as he might to convince them of the foolishness of idolatry and of the goodness of Allah's laws, the ignored him. He warned them that if they kept on with their foolishness, Allah's punishment would soon follow. Instead of fearing Allah, they told Jonah that they were not afraid of his threats. "Let it happen," they told him. Jonah was disheartened. "in that case, I will leave you to your misery!" so saying, he left Nineveh, fearing that Allah's anger would soon follow. Remember Dhan Nun (Jonah), when he went off in anger, and imagined that We shall not punish him (the calamities which had befallen him)! (ch 21:87) Hardly had he left the city when the skies began to change color and looked as if they were on fire. The people were filled with fear by this sight. They recalled the destruction of the people of 'Ad, Thamud and Noah. Was theirs to be a similar fate? Slowly faith penetrated their hearts. They all gathered on the mountain and started to beseech Allah for His mercy and forgiveness. The mountains echoed with their cries. It was a momentous hour, filled with sincere repentance. Allah removed His wrath and showered His blessings upon them once again. When the threatening storm was lifted, they prayed for the return of Jonah so that he could guide them. Meanwhile, Jonah had boarded a small ship in the company of other passengers. It sailed all day in calm waters with a good wind blowing at the sails. When night came, the sea suddenly changed. A horrible storm blew as if it were going to split the ship into pieces. The waves looked wild. They rose up as high as mountains then plunged down like valleys, tossing the ship and sweeping over the deck. Behind the ship, a large whale was splitting the water and opening its mouth. A command had been issued from Almighty Allah to one of the greatest whales of the sea to surface. It obeyed. The whale hurried to the surface of the sea and followed the ship as it had been commanded. The tempest continued and the chief crewman asked the crew to lighten the ship's heavy load. They threw their baggage overboard, but this was not enough. Their safety lay in reducing the weight further, so they decided among themselves to lighten their load by removing at least one person. The captain directed: We will make lots with all of the travelers' names. The one whose name is drawn will be thrown into the sea." Jonah knew this was one of the seamen's traditions when facing a tempest. It was a strange polytheistic tradition, but it was practiced at that time. Jonah's affliction and crisis began. Here was the prophet, subjected to polytheistic rules that considered the sea and the wind to have gods that riot. The captain had to please these gods. Jonah reluctantly participated in the lot, and his name was added to the other travelers' names. The lot was drawn and "Jonah" appeared. Since they knew him to be the most honorable among them, they did not wish to throw him into the angry sea. Therefore, they decided to draw a second lot. Again Jonah's name was drawn. They gave him a final chance and drew a third lot. Unfortunately for Jonah, his name came up again. Jonah realized that Allah's hand was in all this, for he had abandoned his mission without Allah's consent. The matter was over, and it was decided that Jonah should throw himself into the water. Jonah stood at the edge of the ship looking at the furious sea. It was night and there was no moon. The stars were hidden behind a black fog. But before he could be thrown overboard, Jonah kept mentioning Allah's name as he jumped into the raging sea and disappeared beneath the huge waves. The whale found Jonah floating on the waves before it. It swallowed Jonah into its furious stomach and shut its ivory teeth on him as if they were white bolts locking the door of his prison. The whale dived to the bottom of the sea, the sea that runs in the abyss of darkness. Three layers of darkness enveloped him, one above the other; the darkness of the whale's stomach, the darkness of the bottom of the sea, the darkness of the night. Jonah imaged himself to be dead, but his senses became alert when he found he
Bismillah [IslamCity] Story of Prophet LutLot (pbuh)
Story of Prophet LutLot (pbuh) Prophet Abraham (PBUH) left Egypt accompanied by his nephew Lut (PBUH), who then went to the city of Sodom (Sadum), which was on the western shore of the Dead Sea. This city was filled with evil. Its residents waylaid, robbed and killed travelers. Another common evil among them was that men had sex with men instead of with women. This unnatural act later became known as sodomy (after the city of Sodom). It was practiced openly and unashamedly. It was at the height of these crimes and sins that Allah revealed to Prophet Lut (PBUH) that he should summon the people to give up their indecent behavior, but they were so deeply sunk in their immoral habits that they were deaf to Lot's preaching. Swamped in their unnatural desires, they refused to listen, even when Lot warned them of Allah's punishment. Instead, they threatened to drive him out of the city if he kept on preaching. Allah the Almighty revealed The people of Lot (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers when their brother Lot said to them Will you not fear Allah and obey Him Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. SO fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism) my reward is only from the Lord of the Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists). Go you in unto the males of the Alamin (mankind), and leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives Nay, you are a trespassing people! They said If you cease not, O Lot! Verily, you will be one of those who are driven out! HE said I am indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do. SO We saved him and his family, all except an old woman (this wife) among those who remained behind. (Ch 26160-171 Quran) The doings of Lot's people saddened his heart. Their unwholesome reputation spread throughout the land, while he struggled against them. As the years passed, he persisted in his mission but to no avail. No one responded to his call and believed except for the members of his family, and even in his household, not all the members believed. Lot's wife, like Noah's wife, a disbeliever. Allah the Almighty declared Allah set forth an example for those who disbelieve, the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot. They were under two of Our righteous slaves, but they both betrayed their (husbands, by rejecting their doctrines) so they (Noah & Lut) benefited them (their respective wives) not, against Allah, and it was said Enter the Fire along with those who enter! (Ch 6610 Quran) If home is the place of comfort and rest, then Lut found none, for he was tormented both inside and outside his home. His life was continuous torture and he suffered greatly, but he remained patient and steadfast with his people. The years rolled by, and still not one believed in him. Instead, they belittled his message and mockingly challenged him Bring Allah's Torment upon us if you are one of the truthful! (Ch 2929 Quran). Overwhelmed with despair, Lot prayed to Allah to grant him victory and destroy the corrupt. Therefore, the angels left Abraham (pbuh) and headed for Sodom the town of Lut (pbuh). They reached the walls of the town in the afternoon. The first person who caught sight of them was Lot's daughter, who was sitting beside the river, filling her jug with water. When she lifted her face and saw them, she was stunned that there could be men of such magnificent beauty on earth. One of the tree men (angels) asked her O maiden, is there a place to rest Remembering the character of her people she replied, Stay here and do not enter until I inform my father and return. Leaving her jug by the river, she swiftly ran home. O father! she cried. You are wanted by young men at the town gate and I have never before seen the like of their faces! Lot felt distressed as he quickly ran to his guests. He asked them where they came from and where they were going. They did not answer his questions. Instead they asked if he could host them. He started talking with them and impressed upon them the subject of his people's nature. Lot was filled with turmoil; he wanted to convince his guests without offending them, not to spend the night there, yet at the same time he wanted to extend to them the expected hospitality normally accorded to guests. In vain he tried to make them understand the perilous situation. At last, therefore, he requested them to wait until the night fell, for then no one would see them. When darkness fell on the town, Lot escorted his guest to his home. No one was aware of their presence. However, as soon as Lot's wife saw them, she slipped out of the house quietly so that no one noticed her. Quickly, she ran to her people with the news and it spread to all the inhabitants like wildfire. The people rushed towards Lot quickly and excitedly. Lot wa

Bismillah [IslamCity] Virtues of the Ten Days of Dhul Hijjah
Virtues of the Ten Days of Dhul Hijjah How do the first ten days of the Month of Dhul Hijjah differ from other days of the year? Praise be to Allaah Who has created Time and has made some times better than others, some months and days and nights better than others, when rewards are multiplied many times, as a mercy towards His slaves. This encourages them to do more righteous deeds and makes them more eager to worship Him, so that the Muslim renews his efforts to gain a greater share of reward, prepare himself for death and supply himself in readiness for the Day of Judgement. This season of worship brings many benefits, such as the opportunity to correct one’s faults and make up for any shortcomings or anything that one might have missed. Every one of these special occasions involves some kind of worship through which the slaves may draw closer to Allaah, and some kind of blessing though which Allaah bestows His favour and mercy upon whomsoever He will. The happy person is the one who makes the most of these special months, days and hours and draws nearer to his Lord during these times through acts of worship; he will most likely be touched by the blessing of Allaah and will feel the joy of knowing that he is safe from the flames of Hell. (Ibn Rajab, al-Lataa’if, p.8) The Muslim must understand the value of his life, increase his worship of Allaah and persist in doing good deeds until the moment of death. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): "And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty." [al-Hijr 15:99] The mufassireen (commentators) said: "‘The certainty’ means death." Among the special seasons of worship are the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, which Allaah has preferred over all the other days of the year. Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allaah than these ten days." The people asked, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah?" He said, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing." (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 2/457). Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) also reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "There is no deed more precious in the sight of Allaah, nor greater in reward, than a good deed done during the ten days of Sacrifice." He was asked, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah?" He said, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing." (Reported by al-Daarimi, 1/357; its isnaad is hasan as stated in al-Irwaa’, 3/398). These texts and others indicate that these ten days are better than all the other days of the year, with no exceptions, not even the last ten days of Ramadaan. But the last ten nights of Ramadaan are better, because they include Laylat al-Qadr ("the Night of Power"), which is better than a thousand months. Thus the various reports may be reconciled. (See Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 5/412). You should know, my brother in Islaam, that the virtue of these ten days is based on many things: Allaah swears an oath by them, and swearing an oath by something is indicative of its importance and great benefit. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): "By the dawn; by the ten nights" [al-Fajr 89:1-2]. Ibn ‘Abbaas, Ibn al-Zubayr, Mujaahid and others of the earlier and later generations said that this refers to the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah. Ibn Katheer said: "This is the correct opinion." (Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 8/413) The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) testified that these are the best days of this world, as we have already quoted above from saheeh ahaadeeth. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) encouraged people to do righteous deeds because of the virtue of this season for people throughout the world, and also because of the virtue of the place - for the Hujjaaj (pilgrims) to the Sacred House of Allaah. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded us to recite a lot of Tasbeeh ("Subhan-Allaah"), Tahmeed ("Al-hamdu Lillaah") and Takbeer ("Allaahu akbar") during this time. ‘Abdullaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "There are no days greater in the sight of Allaah and in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Him than these ten days, so during this time recite a great deal of Tahleel ("La ilaaha ill-Allaah"), Takbeer and Tahmeed." (Reported by Ahmad, 7/224; Ahmad Shaakir stated that it is saheeh). These ten days include Yawm ‘Arafaah (the Day of ‘Arafaah), on which Allaah perfected H

Volume 9, Book 92, Number 381: Narrated Hudhaifa: Allah's Apostle said to us, "Honesty descended from the Heavens and settled in the roots of the hearts of men (faithful believers), and then the Quran was revealed and the people read the Quran, (and learnt it from it) and also learnt it from the Sunna." Both Quran and Sunna strengthened their (the faithful believers') honesty. (See Hadith No. 208) Volume 9, Book 92, Number 383: Narrated Abu Huraira and Zaid bin Khalid: We were with the Prophet when he said (to two men), "I shall judge between you according to Allah's Book (Laws)." Volume 9, Book 92, Number 386: Narrated Hammam: Hudhaifa said, "O the Group of Al-Qurra! Follow the straight path, for then you have taken a great lead (and will be the leaders), but if you divert right or left, then you will go astray far away." Volume 9, Book 92, Number 392: Narrated Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas: The Prophet said, "The most sinful person among the Muslims is the one who asked about something which had not been prohibited, but was prohibited because of his asking." Volume 9, Book 92, Number 396: Narrated Anas: We were with 'Umar and he said, "We have been forbidden to undertake a difficult task beyond our capability (i.e. to exceed the religious limits e.g., to clean the inside of the eyes while doing ablution)."
Bismillah [IslamCity] Prophets (ibn kathir) HAZRAT ADAM(AS)6
Allah accepted Adam's repentance and forgave him. He then sent him to the earth as His first messenger. there are many traditions concerning the place of Adam's descent upon earth. Ibn Abi Hatim narrated that Ibn Abbas said: "Adam descended on land 'Dihna' between Mecca and taif." AL Hassan said that Adam descended in India and Eve in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Iblis Bodistiman (Iraq), and the serpent in Ashahan (Iran). This last was also reported by Ibn Hatim. Ass'ady related that Adam descended with the Black Stone (a large black stone set into the wall of the ka'ba in Mecca. It is said to have come from Paradise) in India, and he had a handful of the seeds of Paradise. He sowed them in India and they grew into the fragrant tree therein. Ibn Umar said that Adam descended on As-Safa and Eve on Al Marwa ( names of two mountains in the vicinity of the sacred house in Mecca. Part of the rites of pilgrimage (hajj) includes pacing between these two hills in commemoration of H's search for water). This was also reported by Ibn Hatim. Abdul Razzaq reported that Abi Musa Al-shari said that when Allah ordered Adam to descend from Paradise to earth, He taught him the making of everything and provided him with the crops from Paradise. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "The best of days on which the sun has risen is Friday. One this day Adam was created, and on this day he was descended to earth." (al Bukhari) Adam knew he bade farewell to peace and he left Paradise. On earth he had to face conflict and struggle. No sooner had one ended than another began. He also had to toil to sustain himself. He had to protect himself with clothes and weapons and protect his wife and children from the wild beasts. Above all he had to struggle with the spirit of evil. Satan, the cause of his expulsion from Paradise, continued to beguile him and his children in an effort to have them thrown into the eternal hellfire. The battle between good and evil is continuous, but those who follow Allah's guidance and should fear nothing while those who disobey Allah and follow Iblis will be damned along with him. Adam grasped all of this and with the knowledge of this suffering he started his life on the earth. The only thing that allowed his grief was that he was master of the earth and had to make it yield to him. He was the one who had to perpetuate, cultivate and construct and populate the earth. He was also the one who had to procreate and raise children who would change and improve the world. The pinnacle of earthly bliss was reached when Adam and Eve witnessed the birth of their 1st children, a set of twins. Adam was a devoted father and Eve a contented mother. The twins were Cain (Qabil) and his sister. Later Eve gave birth to a second set of twins, Abel (Habil) and his sister. The family enjoyed the bounties and fruits of the earth provided by their Lord. The children grew up to be strong and healthy young adults. Cain tilled the land while Abel raised cattle. The time arrived when the two young men desired life partners. This was part of Allah’s plan for mankind, to multiply and form nations with different cultures and colors. Allah revealed to Adam that he should marry each son to the twin sister of the other. Adam instructed his children according to Allah's command, but Cain was displeased with the partner chosen for him, for Abel's twin sister was not as beautiful as his own. It appears that since the beginning of time, physical beauty has been a factor in the attraction between man and women. This attraction caused Cain to envy his brother Abel. He rebelled against Allah's command by refusing to accept his father's advice. At first glance Cain's rebellion might appear strange, but we should remember that although man has a pure nature, the potential for dichotomy exists. In other words, he had both good and bad qualities. He can become greedy, covetous, possessive, selfish and even destructive. Man is, therefore capable of seeking self-satisfaction even if it leads to failure in this life and in the hereafter. The path to goodness lies in harnessing the enemy within him, his baser self by controlling evil thoughts and deeds and practicing moderation in his desires and actions. His reward then will be the delights of this world and the hereafter. Thus Allah tests us through our divided nature. Adam was in a dilemma. He wanted peace and harmony in his family, so he invoked Allah for help. Allah commanded that each son offer a sacrifice, and he whose offering was accepted would have right on his side. Abel offered his best camel while Cain offered his worst grain. His sacrifice was not accepted by Allah because of his disobedience to his father and the insincerity in his offering. This enraged Cain even further. Realizing that his hopes marrying his own beautiful sister were fading, he threatened his brother. "I will kill you! I refuse to see you

Zul-qarnain 18:83 They ask thee concerning Zul-qarnain. Say, "I will rehearse to you something of his story." 18:84 Verily We established his power on earth, and We gave him the ways and the means to all ends. 18:85 One (such) way he followed, 18:86 Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: Near it he found a People: We said: "O Zul-qarnain! (thou hast authority,) either to punish them, or to treat them with kindness." 18:87 He said: "Whoever doth wrong, him shall we punish; then shall he be sent back to his Lord; and He will punish him with a punishment unheard-of (before). 18:88 "But whoever believes, and works righteousness,- he shall have a goodly reward, and easy will be his task as We order it by our Command." 18:89 Then followed he (another) way, 18:90 Until, when he came to the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had provided no covering protection against the sun. 18:91 (He left them) as they were: We completely understood what was before him. 18:92 Then followed he (another) way, 18:93 Until, when he reached (a tract) between two mountains, he found, beneath them, a people who scarcely understood a word. 18:94 They said: "O Zul-qarnain! the Gog and Magog (People) do great mischief on earth: shall we then render thee tribute in order that thou mightest erect a barrier between us and them? 18:95 He said: "(The power) in which my Lord has established me is better (than tribute): Help me therefore with strength (and labour): I will erect a strong barrier between you and them: 18:96 "Bring me blocks of iron." At length, when he had filled up the space between the two steep mountain-sides, He said, "Blow (with your bellows)" Then, when he had made it (red) as fire, he said: "Bring me, that I may pour over it, molten lead."

Bismillah [IslamCity] Prophets (ibn kathir) must read
Prophet Adam Ibn Kathir Allah the Almighty revealed: Remember when your Lord said to the angels: 'Verily, I am going to place mankind generations after generations on earth.' They said: 'Will You place therein those who will make mischief therein and shed blood, while we glorify You with praises and thanks (exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners) and sanctify You.' Allah said: 'I know that which you do not know.' Allah taught Adam all the names of everything, then He showed them to the angels and said: "Tell Me the names of these if you are truthful." They (angels) said: "Glory be to You, we have no knowledge except what You have taught us. Verily, it is You, the All-Knower, the All-Wise." He said: "O Adam! Inform them of their names," and when he had informed them of their names, He said: "Did I not tell you that I know the unseen in the heavens and the earth, and I know what you reveal and what you have been hiding?" Remember when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourself before Adam" They prostrated except Iblis, he refused and was proud and was one of the disbelievers(disobedient to Allah)." We said: "O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in the Paradise and both of you freely with pleasure and delight of things therein as wherever you will but come not near this tree or you both will be of the Zalimeen (wrongdoers)." Then the Satan made them slip therefrom (the Paradise), and got them out from that in which they were. We said: "Get you down all with enmity between yourselves. On earth will be a dwelling place for you and an enjoyment for a time." Then Adam received from his Lord Words. His Lord pardoned him (accepted his repentance). Verily He is the One Who forgives (accepts repentance), the most Merciful. We said: "Get down all of you from this place (the Paradise), then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Me, and whoever follows My Guidance there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve. But those who disbelieve and belie Our Ayah (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, and signs and revelations, etc) such are the dwellers of the Fire, they shall abide therein forever." (Chapter 2:30-39, Qur'an). Almighty Allah also revealed: And surely, We created you (your father Adam) and then gave you shape (the noble shape of a human being), then We told the angels, "Prostrate to Adam", and they prostrated, except Iblis, he refused to be those who prostrate. Allah said: "What prevented you (O Iblis) that you did not postrate when I commanded you?" Iblis said: "I am better than him (Adam), You created me from fire and him You created from clay." Allah said: "O Iblis get down from this (Paradise), it is not for you to be arrogant here. Get out for you are of those humiliated and disgraced." Iblis said: "Allow me respite till the Day they are raised up (Day of Resurrection)." Allah said: "You are of those allowed respite." Iblis said: "Because You have sent me astray, surely I will sit in wait against them (human beings) on Your Straight Path. Then I will come to them from before them and behind them, from their right and from their left and You will not find most of them as thankful ones (they will not be dutiful to You)." Allah said: "Get out from Paradise, disgraced and expelled. Whoever of them (mankind) will follow you, then surely I will fill Hell with you all." "And O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in Paradise, and eat thereof as you both wish, but approach not this tree otherwise you both will be of the Zalimeen (unjust and wrongdoers)." Then Satan whispered suggestions to them both in order to uncover that which was hidden from them of their private parts before, he said:" Your Lord did not forbid you this tree save you should become angels or become of the immortals." Satan swore by Allah to them both saying: "Verily I am one of the sincere well wishers for you both." So he misled them with deception. Then when they tasted of the tree, that which was hidden from them of their shame (private parts) became manifest to them and they began to stick together the leaves of Paradise over themselves (in order to cover their shame). Their Lord called out to them saying "Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you, Verily Satan is an open enemy unto you?" They said: "Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not, and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers." Allah said: "Get down one of you an enemy to the other (i.e. Adam, Eve, and Satan etc). On earth will be a dwelling place for you and an enjoyment, for a time." He said: "therein you shall live, and therein you shall die, and from it you shall be brought out (resurrected)." (Chapter 7:11-25 Qur'an). We imagine when Allah the Almighty decided to create Adam: He addressed His angels and told them to prostrate before him. He did not mean to ask their opinion or take their advice, for He is above that. Allah the Exalted told them that H
Bismillah [IslamCity] Abdullah Bin Umme Maktum (raa)
Abdullah Bin Umme Maktum (raa) http://islamicvoice.com/october.2003/child.htm#AB The Holy Quran does not name any among the men and women contemporary, who lived in the time of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) except Hazrath Zaid (bin Haritha) and Abu Lahab in its text. But a few like Abdullah bin Umme Maktum and Hazrath Ayesha are two companions who were fortunate enough to have verses revealed about them. About Hazrath Ayesha, the beloved wife of the Prophet, Allah revealed a verse where her chastity was sworn to. But about Hazrath Abdullah bin Umme Maktumm, a chapter narrates his plight when the Prophet showed a bit of indifference towards him in preference to the leading lights of the Quraish. Abdullah bin Umme Maktum was related to the Prophet through his first wife Khadijah to whom he was a cousin. His father was Qais bin Zaid and mother Athika bin Abdullah. Abdullah bin Umme Maktum was born blind and hence was known as Abdullah Maktum. Visually handicapped, Abdullah Maktum knew his limitations as far as his contributions to the Islamic movement were concerned. He therefore made it a habit to join the company of the Holy Prophet and gather as much as of Quranic verses and wisdom being disbursed by the Prophet.

Bismillah [IslamCity] CALIPH UMAR'S ADDRESS AFTER JERUSALEM
CALIPH UMAR'S ADDRESS AFTER JERUSALEM After receiving the surrender of Jerusalem and completing the tour of Syria when Caliph Umar was returning to Madina he led the prayer at Jabiah. On this occasion he delivered an address which is preserved in history. The major part of his address was O ye people I counsel you to read the Quran. Try to understand it and ponder over it. Imbibe the teachings of the Quran. Then practise what the Quran teaches. The Quran is not theoretical; it is a practical code of life. The Quran does not bring you the message of the Hereafter only; it is primarily intended to guide you in this life. Mold your life in accordance with the teachings of Islam for that is the way of your well being. By following any other way you will be inviting destruction. Fear Allah (The One True God), and whatever you want seek from Him. All men are equal. Do not flatter those in authority. Do not seek favors from others. By such acts you demean yourself. And remember that you will get only that is ordained for you, and no one can give you anything against the will of God. Then why seek things from others over which they have no control Only supplicate God for He alone is the sovereign. And speak the truth. Do not hesitate to say what you consider to be the truth. Say what you feel. Let your conscience be your guide. Let your intentions be good, for verily God is aware of your intentions. In your deeds your intentions count. Fear God, and fear no one else. Why fear others when you know that whatever sustenance ordained for you by God you will get under all circumstances And again why fear when you know that death is ordained by God alone and will come only when He wills ***"Allah has for the time being made me your ruler. But I am one of you. No special privileges belong to ruler. I have some responsibilities to discharge, and in this I seek your cooperation. Government is a sacred trust, and it is my endeavor not to betray the trust in any way. For the fulfillment of the trust I have to be a watch-man. I have to be strict. I have to enforce discipline. I have to run the administration not on the basis of personal idiosyncracies; I have to run it in public interest and for promoting the public good. For this we have the guidance in the Book of God. Whatever orders I issue in the course of day to day administration have to conform to the Quran. God has favored us with Islam. He sent to us His Messenger (Muhammad, pbuh). He has chosen us for a mission. Let us fulfil that mission. That mission is the promotion of Islam. In Islam lies our safety; if we err we are doomed."
Bismillah [IslamCity] CALIPH UMAR'S SON MARRIES A MILKMAID
CALIPH UMAR'S SON MARRIES A MILKMAID One night, Caliph Umar as usual went in disguise with his companion Ibn Abbas to see the condition of the people. They strolled from one quarter to another. At last they came to a colony where poor people lived. While passing by a small house, the Caliph heard a whispering talk within. The mother was telling her daughter that the amount of milk fetched by her for sale that day was very little. She told her that when she was young, and used to sell milk, she always mixed water with milk, and that led to considerable profit. She advised her daughter to do the same. The girl said, "You adulterated milk, when you were not a Muslim. Now that we are Muslims, we cannot adulterate milk." The mother said that Islam did not stand in the way of adulteration of milk. The daughter said, "Have you forgotten the Caliph's order? He wants that the milk should not be adulterated." The mother said, "But the Caliph has forgotten us. We are so poor, what else should we do but adulterate milk in order win bread?" The daughter said "Such a bread would not be lawful, and as a Muslim I would not do anything which is against the orders of the Caliph, and whereby other Muslims are deceived." The mother said, "But there is neither the Caliph nor any of his officers here to see what we do. Daughter you are still a child. Go to bed now and tomorrow I will myself mix the milk with water for you." The girl refused to fall in with the plan of her mother. She said, "Caliph may or may not be here, but his order must be obeyed. My conscience is my Caliph. You may escape the notice of the Caliph and his officers, but how can we escape the notice of Allah and our own conscience." Thereupon the mother remained quiet. The lamp was extinguished and the mother and the daughter went to sleep. ** The next day, Caliph Umar sent a man to purchase milk from the girl. The milk was unadulterated. The girl kept her resolve. CaliphUmar turned to his companion and said, "The girl has kept her resolve in spite of the exhortation of her mother. She deserves a reward. What reward should I give her? She should be paid some money," said Ibn Abbas. Caliph Umar said, "Such a girl would become a great mother. Her integrity is not to be weighed with few coins; it is to be measured in the scale of national values. I shall offer her the highest award in my gift, and which shall also be in the highest interest of the nation." The Caliph summoned the daughter and the mother to his court. The mother trembled as she stood before the mighty ruler. But the girl faced the Caliph boldly and with great equanimity. She was beautiful, and there was an impressive dignity about her. Then before the gathering, Caliph Umar related how he had overheard the mother and the daughter, and how in spite of the exhortations of the mother the daughter had kept her resolve. Someone suggested that the mother should be taken to task. The Caliph said that ordinarily he would have punished the mother, but he had forgiven her for the sake of her daughter. Turning to the girl the great Caliph said, "Islam needs daughters like you and as a Caliph of Islam it devolves on me to reward you by owning you as a daughter." The Caliph called his sons, and addressing them said, "Here is a gem of a girl who would make a great mother. I desire that one of you should take this girl as wife. I know of no better bride than this girl of sterling character. In matters of wedlock, it should be the character and not the stature in life that should count." Abdullah and Abdur Rahman the elder sons of the Caliph were already married. Asim the third son was yet unmarried, and he offered to marry the girl. Thereupon with the consent of the milkmaid and her mother Asim was married to the girl, and milkmaid became the daughter-in-law of the Caliph. >From this union was born a daughter Umm Asim, who became in due course the >mother of Umar bin Abdul Aziz. Umar bin AbdulAziz was elected as Caliph and >served for a short period during 717 - 720. - While other Caliphs of the Ummayad dynasty reveled in luxury, Umar bin Abdul Aziz as a Caliph set up standards for austerity and simplicity following in the footsteps of Caliph Umar, the second Caliph of Islam. It is said that if ever there was a noble Caliph after the first four Rightly guided Caliphs, such a man was Umar bin Abdul Aziz. And he inherited the noble qualities of the milkmaid who married the Caliph's son, and those of Caliph Umar Farooq who had the eye to discern the nobler qualities of sterling character in a poor girl.
Bismillah [IslamCity] hadith
Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (saw) said, "Whoever amongst you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; if he is unable to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is unable to do so, then with his heart; and that is the weakest form of Faith". [Muslim]. Nu`man bin Bashir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "The likeness of the man who observes the limits prescribed by Allah and that of the man who transgresses them is like the people who get on board a ship after casting lots. Some of them are in its lower deck and some of them in its upper (deck). Those who are in its lower (deck), when they require water, go to the occupants of the upper deck, and say to them : `If we make a hole in the bottom of the ship, we shall not harm you.' If they (the occupants of the upper deck) leave them to carry out their design they all will be drowned. But if they do not let them go ahead (with their plan), all of them will remain safe". [Al-Bukhari]. Mu'adh ibn Jabal said, "No action of a human being is more likely to save him from the punishment of Allah than dhikru'llah." 'Umar (ibn al-Khattab) said, "Better than the remembrance of Allah on the tongue is the remembrance of Allah by obeying His commands and prohibitions."
Bismillah [IslamCity] Abu Ubaydah ibn Al-Jarrah
rAbu Ubaydah ibn Al-Jarrah Scanned from: Companions of The Prophet, Vol.1, By Abdul Wahid Hamid His appearance was striking. He was slim and tall. His face was bright and he had a sparse beard. It was pleasing to look at him and refreshing to meet him. He was extremely courteous and humble and quite shy. Yet in a tough situation he would become strikingly serious and alert, resembling the flashing blade of a sword in his severity and sharpness. He was described as the "Amin" or Custodian of Muhammad's community. His full name was Aamir ibn Abdullah ibn al-Jarrah. He was known as Abu Ubaydah. Of him Abdullah ibn Umar, one of the companions of the Prophet, said: "Three persons in the tribe of Quraysh were most prominent, had the best character and were the most modest. If they spoke to you, they would not deceive you and if you spoke to them, they would not accuse you of Iying: Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, Uthman ibn Affan and Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah." Abu Ubaydah was one of the first persons to accept Islam. He became a Muslim one day after Abu Bakr. In fact, it was through Abu Bakr that he became a Muslim. Abu Bakr took him, Abdur Rahman ibn Auf, Uthman ibn Maz'un and al-Arqam ibn abi al Arqam to the Prophet, upon whom be peace, and together they declared their acceptance of the Truth. They were thus the first pillars on which the great edifice of Islam was built. Abu Ubaydah lived through the harsh experience, which the Muslims went through in Makkah, from beginning to end. With the early Muslims, he endured the insults and the violence, the pain and the sorrow of that experience. In every trial and test he remained firm and constant in his belief in God and His prophet. One of the most harrowing experiences he had to go through, however, was at the battle of Badr.

Abu Musa al Ashari In the major campaigns against the powerful Sasanian Empire Abu Musa's role was outstanding. In the great Battle of Tustar itself, he distinguished himself as a military commander. The Persian commander, Hormuzan, had withdrawn his numerous forces to the strongly fortified city of Tustar. The Caliph Umar did not underestimate the strength of the enemy and he mobilized powerful and numerous force to confront Hormuzan. Among the Muslim forces were dedicated veterans like Ammar ibn Yasir, al-Baraa ibn Malik and his brother Anas, Majra'a al-Bakri and Salamah ibn Rajaa. Umar appointed Abu Musa as commander of the army. So well fortified was Tustar that it was impossible to take it by storm. Several attempts were made to breach the walls but these proved unsuccessful. There followed a long and difficult siege which became even more testing and agonizing for the Muslims when, as we saw in the story of al-Baraa ibn Malik, the Persians began throwing down iron chains from the walls of the fortress at the ends of which were fastened red-hot iron hooks. Muslims were caught by these hooks and were pulled up either dead or in the agony of death. Abu Musa realized that the increasingly unbearable impasse could only be broken by a resort to stratagem. Fortunately, at this time a Persian defected to the Muslim side and Abu Musa induced him to return behind the walls of the fortified city and use whatever artful means he could to open the city's gates from within. With the Persian he sent a special force of hand-picked men. They succeeded well in their task, opened the gates and made way for Abu Musa's army. Within hours the Persians were subdued. Abu Musa continued to remain neutral in the conflict which was ended by Ali when he made a treaty with Muawiyah confirming him as the one responsible for governing Syria and Egypt. Abu Musa himself left for Makkah and spent the rest of his life near the Sacred Mosque. During his life he had remained devoted to the noble Prophet and his righteous successors. During the life of the Prophet, the Prophet had appointed him and Muadh ibn Jabal as governor of Kufah. In ibadah, he showed a great deal of strength and endurance. On days when the heat was intense and almost unbearable, Abu Musa would be found fasting and he would say: "Perhaps the thirst of the midday heat would prove to be quenching for us on the day of Qiyamah." As his end drew near, the words which he kept saying were words which he was wont to repeat throughout his life as a believer: "Allahumma anta-s Salaam Wa minka-s Salaam. "O Lord, You are the Source of Peace And from You comes Peace...

Bismillah [IslamCity] Sermon of the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) welcoming Ramadhaan
Sermon of the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) welcoming Ramadhaan Salman(R.A.) of Persia related to us that "the Apostle of God (sallallaho alaihi wa sallam) delivered a sermon on the last day of the month of Shaban." In it, he said: "O’ people ! A blessed month is casting its shadow upon you ; a night of this month (the Night of Power) is better than a thousand months ; Allah has prescribed the fasts of this month and ordered as a supererogatory worship the standing up in his presence (i.e.; the offering up of Taraweeh prayers ) during its nights ( on which there is great reward ). Whoever will offer, in it, a non - obligatory ( i.e.; Sunnat or Nafl ) prayer with the object of seeking the countenance of the Lord, will get a reward identical in value to the reward on a Fardh ( i.e.; obligatory) prayer on the other days of the year. It is the month of patient perseverance and the reward on patient perseverance is Paradise, and it is the month of kindness and compassion. It is the month in which the sustenance of the faithful bondsman is increased. Whoever will invite a person who is fasting to break the fast with him will get the same reward as the one who was fasting and there will be no reduction in his reward either. Upon it, It was enquired from the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) `Everyone of us does not have the means to ask (people) to break the fast with him. (So, will he remain deprived of the great reward ?) The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) replied `Allah will give the reward to him (also) who will have a person who is fasting break the fast with a little milk or a draught of water.` (Continuing the prophet observed): ` And whoever will feed fasting person with a full meal (at the time of breaking the fast), God will satiate him in such a manner from my pond (i.e.; Kausar) that, after it, he will not feel thirsty until he has reached heaven.( After it, the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said) : `The first part of this blessed month is Mercy, the second part is Forgiveness, and the third part is Freedom from the Fire of Hell.` (After it, the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said ): `Whoever will make a reduction in the work of his slave or servant, Allah will forgive him and grant him Freedom from Hell.` - Baihaqi Commentary: The purport of the above Hadith is clear. Yet we will offer a few comments on some of the points here. (I) The first and the greatest virtue of the month Ramadan is that there occurs during it a night which is better than thousand nights but months. It has, also, been mentioned , as we know, in Sura-i -Qadr of the Quran. In fact, the whole of the Surah deals with the suspiciousness and splendour of this night which it should be enough to appreciate its worth and importance. Approximately, one thousand months thirty thousand nights. The superiority of the Night of Power to a thousand months should, therefore, be taken to mean that the devotees who are keenly desirous to earn the good graces of the Lord and His propinquity can make as much progress in one night as in a thousand other nights. Just as in the material world we see that by a jet propelled aeroplane one can, nowadays, cover as much distance in a day as, or even in an hour, as we done in a hundred years in the past, the rate of advance of the earnest seekers of the countenance of the Lord, too, is increased so greatly in the night of Power that they can attain in it was is possible in hundreds of months. The Prophet's (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) remark that if a person will seek the propitiation of Allah, in the month of Ramadan, by performing a superogatory act, it will be treated as equal in recompense to the fulfilment of an obligatory duty in the other days of the year and if he will fulfil an obligatory duty during it, it will be treated as equal in recompense to the fulfilment of seventy obligatory duties during the rest of the year should be seen in the same light. Thus, while the superiority of the Night of Power peculiar to a particular night of Ramadan, the fetching of seventy times reward by a virtuous act is the characteristic attribute of every day and night of the blessed month. (ii) Ramadan has been described in the sermon quoted above as the month of fortitude and compassion. In the Islamic usage `fortitude` signifies the suppression of sensual desires and urges and endurance of painful and unpleasant things the sake of learning the good pleasure of Allah. This is what fasting stands for, from the beginning to the end. In the same way, while fasting the bondsman has an experience of the rigours of starvation, and, from it, he learn to feel for and sympathise with those who are forced by their circumstances to go hungry. (iii) It, also, tell that, in this month, the provision of the truthful bondsman is augmented. The experience of every fasting believer is that he more and better to eat and d

Bismillah [IslamCity] The Companions of The Prophet(Abdur-Rahman Ibn Awf)
The Companions of The Prophet Abdur-Rahman Ibn Awf Muslim Education & Literacy Services He was one of the first eight persons to accept Islam. He was one of the ten persons (al-asharatu-l mubashshirin) who were assured of entering Paradise. He was one of the six persons chosen by Umar to form the council of shura to choose the Khalifah after his death. His name in Jahiliyyah days was Abu Amr. But when he accepted Islam the noble Prophet called him Abdur-Rahman -- the servant of the Beneficent God. Abdur-Rahman became a Muslim before the Prophet entered the house of al-Arqam. In fact it is said that he accepted Islam only two days after Abu Bakr as-Siddiq did so. Abdur-Rahman did not escape the punishment which the early Muslims suffered at the hands of the Quraysh. He bore this punishment with steadfastness as they did. He remained firm as they did. And when they were compelled to leave Makkah for Abyssinia because of the continuous and unbearable persecution, Abdur-Rahman also went. He returned to Makkah when it was rumored that conditions for the Muslims had improved but, when these rumors proved to be false, he left again for Abyssinia on a second hijrah. Fro m Makkah once again he made the hijrah to Madinah. Soon after arriving in Madinah, the Prophet in his unique manner began pairing off the Muhajirin and the Ansar. This established a firm bond of brotherhood and was meant to strengthen social cohesion and ease the destitution of the Muhajirin. Abdur-Rahman was linked by the Prophet with Sad ibn ar-Rabi'ah. Sad in the spirit of generosity and magnanimity with which the Ansar greeted the Muhajirin, said to Abdur-Rahman: "My brother! Among the people of Madinah I have the most wealth. I have two orchards and I have two wives. See which of the two orchards you like and I shall vacate it for you and which of my two wives is pleasing to you and I will divorce her for you." Abdur-Rahman must have been embarrassed and said in reply: "May God bless you in your family and your wealth. But just show me where the suq is.." Abdur-Rahman went to the market-place and began trading with whatever little resources he had. He bought and sold and his profits grew rapidly. Soon he was sufficiently well off and was able to get married. He went to the noble Prophet with the scent of perfume lingering over him. "Mahyarn, O Abdur-Rahman!" exclaimed the Prophet - "mahyam" being a word of Yemeni origin which indicates pleasant surprise. "I have got married," replied Abdur-Rahman. "And what did you give your wife as mahr?" "The weight of a nuwat in gold." "You must have a walimah (wedding feast) even if it is with a single sheep. And may Allah bless you in your wealth," said the Prophet with obvious pleasure and encouragement. Thereafter Abdur-Rahman grew so accustomed to business success that he said if he lifted a stone he expected to find gold or silver under it! Abdur-Rahman distinguished himself in both the battles of Badr and Uhud. At Uhud he remained firm throughout and suffered more than twenty wounds some of them deep and severe. Even so, his physical jihad was matched by his jihad with his wealth. Once the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, was preparing to dispatch an expeditionary force. He summoned his companions and said: "Contribute sadaqah for I want to dispatch an expedition." Abdur-Rahman went to his house and quickly returned. "O Messenger of God," he said, "I have four thousand (dinars). I give two thousand as a qard to my Lord and two thousand I leave for my family. " When the Prophet decided to send an expedition to distant Tabuk -- this was the last ghazwah of his life that he mounted - his need for finance and material was not greater than his need for men for the Byzantine forces were a numerous and well-equipped foe. That year in Madinah was one of drought and hardship. The journey to Tabuk was long, more that a thousand kilometers. Provisions were in short supply. Transport was at a premium so much so that a group of Muslims came to the Prophet pleading to go wit h him but he had to turn them away because he could find no transport for them. These men were sad and dejected and came to be known as the Bakka'in or the Weepers and the army itself was called the Army of Hardship ('Usrah). Thereupon the Prophet called upon his companions to give generously for the war effort in the path of God and assured them they would be rewarded. The Muslims' response to the Prophet's call was immediate and generous. In the fore front of those who responded was Abdur-Rahman ibn Awl. He donated two hundred awqiyyah of gold whereupon Umar ibn al-Khattab said to the Prophet: "I have (now) seen Abdur-Rahman committing a wrong. He has not left anything for his family." "Have you left anything for your family, Abdur-Rahman?" asked the Prophet. "Yes," replied Abdur-Rahman. "I have left for them more than what I give and better." "How much?" enquired the Prop

It attacks pretty much anyone and everyone. No one is perfect - whether individual or as a jama'ah. Some individuals in one jama'ah may be from one extreme and others at another extreme. However the bulk of Muslims know what is from Ahlus Sunnah. But to attack scholars, teachers, da'ees without giving them an oportunity to respond is nothing but Buhtaan (slander). So these people who run this site - even if their intentions are of a good nature - are not really doing any khayr. I have been to all these groups, and frankly - a jama'ah is not a sect, but some people seem to label each other as this sect or that sect, and this is the illness of our times. Hannan, has asked me to comment on some abusive attacks on Maulana Maudoodi [rahmatullah alaih] published on line on several discussion groups. Syed Abul 'Ala Maudoodi was undoubtedly among the greatest Islamic scholars of the 20th century c.e. He taught the Muslims of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh to understand the relevance of Islam to our times in rational and scientific terms. His contributions to Islamic learning in our times are simply too many to be listed. Suffice it to say that the modern Islamic movement at least in South Asia would have been unthinkable without him. This does not mean that he should not be criticized. He wrote to me: "I have never considered myself above criticism." He wanted Muslims to pick up from where he had left and to carry on his work, and not to come to a stop as if he is the last word. However, criticism to be legitimate has to be honest. If stories are fabricated about him, or his writings are taken totally out of context, that cannot be considered criticism. That is abuse and propag
Bismillah [IslamCity] Rubbing hands and feet with dust (Tayammum)
Rubbing hands and feet with dust (Tayammum) Bukhari :: Book 7 :: Volume 62 :: Hadith 93 Narrated 'Aisha: that she borrowed a necklace from Asma' and then it got lost. So Allah's Apostle sent some people from his companions in search of it. In the meantime the stated time for the prayer became due and they offered their prayer without ablution. When they came to the Prophet, they complained about it to him, so the Verse regarding Tayammum was revealed . Usaid bin Hudair said, "(O 'Aisha!) may Allah bless you with a good reward, for by Allah, never did a difficulty happen in connection with you, but Allah made an escape from it for you, and brought Allah's Blessings for the Muslims." Bukhari :: Book 1 :: Volume 7 :: Hadith 331 Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: The Prophet said, "I have been given five things which were not given to any one else before me. 1. Allah made me victorious by awe, (by His frightening my enemies) for a distance of one month's journey. 2. The earth has been made for me (and for my followers) a place for praying and a thing to perform Tayammum, therefore anyone of my followers can pray wherever the time of a prayer is due. 3. The booty has been made Halal (lawful) for me yet it was not lawful for anyone else before me. 4. I have been given the right of intercession (on the Day of Resurrection). 5. Every Prophet used to be sent to his nation only but I have been sent to all mankind. Bukhari :: Book 1 :: Volume 7 :: Hadith 334 Narrated 'Abdur Rahman bin Abza: A man came to 'Umar bin Al-Khattab and said, "I became Junub but no water was available." 'Ammar bin Yasir said to 'Umar, "Do you remember that you and I (became Junub while both of us) were together on a journey and you didn't pray but I rolled myself on the ground and prayed? I informed the Prophet about it and he said, 'It would have been sufficient for you to do like this.' The Prophet then stroked lightly the earth with his hands and then blew off the dust and passed his hands over his face and hands." Bukhari :: Book 1 :: Volume 7 :: Hadith 335 Narrated Said bin 'Abdur Rahman bin Abza: (on the authority of his father who said) 'Ammar said so (the above Statement). And Shu'ba stroked lightly the earth with his hands and brought them close to his mouth (blew off the dust) and passed them over his face and then the backs of his hands. 'Ammar said, "Ablution (meaning Tayammum here) is sufficient for a Muslim if water is not available." Bukhari :: Book 1 :: Volume 7 :: Hadith 337 Narrated 'Abdur Rahman bin Abza: 'Ammar said to 'Umar "I rolled myself in the dust and came to the Prophet who said, 'Passing dusted hands over the face and the backs of the hands is sufficient for you.' " Bukhari :: Book 1 :: Volume 7 :: Hadith 339 Narrated 'Ammar: The Prophet stroked the earth with his hands and then passed them over his face and the backs of his hands (while demonstrating Tayammum). Bukhari :: Book 1 :: Volume 7 :: Hadith 344 Narrated 'Imran bin Husain Al-Khuza'i: Allah's Apostle saw a person sitting aloof and not praying with the people. He asked him, "O so and so! What prevented you from offering the prayer with the people?" He replied, "O Allah's Apostle! I am Junub and there is no water." The Prophet said, "Perform Tayammum with clean earth and that will be sufficient for you."

How many Aayat are in Quran Majeed? question How many Aayat are in Quran Majeed? Please sent me correct figures & oblige. answer Generally known number of the verses of the Holy Qur'an is , though some have quoted a different numberI have been 'fixed up' with a girl with the intention of definitely marrying her. Our families are quite pious and decent, and the elders of both sides have agreed that the two of us will marry in 4 months time (and I and her are also happy and willing). However, the Nikah has not been done, we are just officially fixed up / engaged. My question then is that is it jaaiz for the two of us to write to each other, phone each other (we have decided never to meet alone until after the nikah). So , in the mean time is it jaaiz for us to talk on the phone/ write to each other? answer You and your fiance are non-Mahram to each other till the marriage is not accomplished. Bismillah [IslamCity] BIBI MAIMOONAH
BIBI MAIMOONAH Abu Hurairah and 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas narrated that the original name of Maimoonah was Barah, and was changed by the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Her father was Harith bin Hazan, and he belonged to the tribe of Banu Hilal. Her mother's name was Hind bint 'Auf. Umm AlFadl Lubabah Kubra and Sughra, Asma' and 'Uzzah were her sisters. Umm AlFadl was married to 'Abbas bin 'Abdul Muttalib, and she had the honor of being the second lady to accept Islam after Khadijah. Sughra married Waleed bin Mughairah; whose son was Khalid bin Waleed one of the greatest Generals of Islam. Asma 'bint Harith married Ubay bin Khalaf and 'Uzzah married Ziyad bin 'Abdullah bin Malik. Asma' bint 'Omais, Salamah bint 'Omais and Salmah bint 'Omais were her sisters from her mother's side. Asma' bint 'Omais was first married to Ja'far bin Abi Talib. She had three sons by him 'Abdullah, 'Awn and Muhammad. When he was martyred she married Abu Bakr Siddique. She bore him a son, Muhammad bin Abi Bakr. When Abu Bakr Siddique died, she married for the third time. Her third husband was 'Ali bin Abi Talib, and they had a son named Yahya. Salamah bint 'Omais married Hamzah bin'Abdul Muttalib. And her third sister Salima bint 'Omais married 'Abdullah bin Ka'b. Thus Hind bint 'Auf had the unique distinction of being the only woman who was the mother-in-law of the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] Muhammad, the first Caliph Abu Bakr Siddique, Hamzah bin'Abdul Muttalib, 'Abbas bin'Abdul Muttalib, Ja'far bin Abi Talib and 'Ali bin Abi Talib. One of her grandsons was'Abdullah bin 'Abbas, who was the greatest standard bearer of the Muslim army. He was a learned commentator on the Noble Qur'an and well versed in Hadith and Fiqh. Another grandson was the greatest General mentioned above, Sughra's son, Khalid bin Waleed. So, Maimoonah came from a very illustrious family of martyrs, warriors and intellectuals. She was first married to Mas'ood bin 'Amr bin 'Omair Thaqafi, but they soon separated on grounds of incompatibility. Her second husband was Abu Riliam bin 'Abdul 'Uzzah 'Amri Quraishi. He died shortly after their marriage and Maimooniih was widowed at a very early age. In the year 711, after hijra the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] went with his Companions to Makkah to perform 'Umrah. It is said that Maimoonah wished to marry him and become one of the honorable Mothers of the Believers. Soon this wish became an absorbing desire. She even mentioned it to her sisters. She felt her tribe, Banu Hilal should also be connected to the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] in the same way that the other tribes like Banu Teem, Banu 'Adi, Banu Umayyah, Banu Makhzoom, Banu Asad and Banu Mustalaq were connected by marriage. UmAlfadl who was married to 'Abbas bin'Abdul Muttalib mentioned her sister's wish to her husband, saying that since he was the uncle and very highly respected by the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] if he requested him, her sister's wish could be fulfilled. When 'Abbas spoke to the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] , he requested Ja'far bin Abi Talib to make the arrangements for the marriage. The Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] had finished his 'Umrah and was free, and Maimoonah was on a camel. When she saw him, she involuntarily exclaimed that the camel and its rider were bequeathed to Allah's Messenger. Thus, she gifted herself to the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] , and he accepted her very gracefully. But a more popular tradition says that when he arrived in Makkah for his 'Umrah, he sent ja'far bin Abi TAlib with his proposal of marriage to Maimoonah. She asked her brother-in-law, 'Abbas bin 'Abdul Muttalib to handle matters. When the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] finished his 'Umrah, 'Abbas arranged the ceremony. Allah said, "O Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] ! Verily, We have made lawful to you your wives, to whom you have paid their Mahr, and those (slaves) whom your right hand possesses - whom Allah has given to you, and the daughters of your paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the daughters of your maternal aunts who migrated with you, and a believing woman if she offers herself to the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] , and the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] wishes to marry her, a privilege for you only, not for the (rest oo the believers. Indeed We know what We have enjoined upon them about their wives and those whom their right hands possess, in order that there should be no difficulty on you. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (33:50) After his 'Umrah the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] stayed in Makkah for three days. Then, on the fourth morning Hawaitab bin'Abdul 'Uzza came with some of the polytheists and told him that since he had finished his 'Umrah,
Bismillah [IslamCity] The Young Hafiz
The Young Hafiz There was a young man, who got to know about a precious stone. He decided not to come back to his house till he finds the stone. So he left his house with a little provision. He sat down to sketch a map on a notebook. He had a very long route to cover But he stuck to his ambition and had very high hopes. He believed that if he found the stone he would not have to work anymore and would become the wealthiest person. All his worries and problems would be finished. Everyone would respect him. Ultimate ly he would become a successful man. He traveled through many countries, cities, towns, jungles, and mountains in search of the stone for forty years. At last while he was passing by an ancient mine he found the stone underneath a heavy rock but by then he had become very old and frail looking person. Holding the stone tightly in his fist, he started jumping with great joy and happiness. Suddenly he saw a young boy sitting by the stream, reciting the Quraan-e-Kareem in a beautiful tone. The boy's penetrating words of the Quraan-e-Hakeem struck the man's heart. It seemed that trees, birds, water all were listening to his Quraan. He thought to himself that he had become too old and weak, so why not give the stone this young man. The man came up to the boy and said, young man, may I have your attention please. I have traveled through many countries, Cities, towns, jungles and mountains in search of this precious stone for forty long ho years. Now I have found it, but I have become very weak and old. I want you to have it because you seem to be pious and have long life ahead of you." "What would I do with it?" The boy asked suspiciously. "Oh..., you would be the most successful, happiest and wealthiest person in the world.. laughed the man as he stretched out his hands. "But I have found the Creator of t his stone as well as all the stones of the entire universe," said the boy confidently. "Allah Ta'ala has all the treasures of success, happiness, peace, respect and sustenance. Allah Ta'ala has got power over every thing." smiled the young boy as he raised his index finger to the sky, as the little boy continued, "If you had given even a little time toyour Creator. Everything would have become yours." The man broke into tears and the boy's words sank into his heart. He repented and threw the stone and served rest of his life to become the friend of Allah Ta'ala. Lesson: Look, children..! Even the young ones can become the means of guidance for the Elders if they are on the right path. If the stone had impressed the boy, do you think that the old man would have got guidance (Hidayat)?
Bismillah [IslamCity] The Kabah: Its Size and History
The Kabah: Its Size and History The small, cubed building known as the Kabah may not rival skyscrapers in height or mansions in width, but its impact on history and human beings is unmatched. The Kabah is the building towards which Muslims face five times a day, everyday, in prayer. This has been the case since the time of Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) over 1400 years ago. The Size of the Kabah: The current height of the Kabah is 39 feet, 6 inches and total size comes to 627 square feet. The inside room of the Kabah is 13x9 meters. The Kabah's walls are one meter wide. The floor inside is 2.2 meters higher than the place where people perform Tawaf. The ceiling and roof are two levels made out of wood. They were reconstructed with teak which is capped with stainless steel. The walls are all made of stone. The stones inside are unpolished, while the ones outside are polished. This small building has been constructed and reconstructed by Prophets Adam, Ibrahim, Ismail and Muhammad (peace be upon them all). No other building has had this honor. Yet, not very much is known about the details of this small but significant building. The Other Names of the Kabah Literally, Kabah in Arabic means a high place with respect and prestige. The word Kabah may also be derivative of a word meaning a cube. Some of these other names include: 1. Bait ul Ateeq - which means, according to one meaning, the earliest and ancient. According to the second meaning, it means independent and liberating. Both meanings could be taken. 2. Bait ul Haram - the honorable house. Scholars and historians say that the Kabah has been reconstructed between 5 to 12 times. The very first construction of the Kabah was done by Prophet Adam (peace be upon him). Allah says in the Quran that this was the first house that was built for humanity to worship Allah. After this, Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail (peace be upon them) rebuilt the Kabah. The measurements of the Kabah's foundation by Ibrahim are as follows: The eastern wall was 48 feet and 6 inches The Hateem side wall was 33 feet The side between the black stone and the Yemeni corner was 30 feet The Western side was 46.5 feet Following this, there were several constructions before the Prophet Muhammad's (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) time. Reconstruction of Kabah by Quraish Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) participated in one of its reconstructions before he became a Prophet. After a flash flood, the Kabah was damaged and its walls cracked. It needed rebuilding. This responsibility was divided among the Quraish's four tribes. Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) helped with this reconstruction. Once the walls were erected, it was time to place the Black Stone, (the Hajar ul Aswad) on the eastern wall of the Kabah. Arguments erupted about who would have the honor of putting the Black Stone in its place. A fight was about to break out over the issue, when Abu Umayyah, Makkah's oldest man, proposed that the first man to enter the gate of the mosque the following morning would decide the matter. That man was the Prophet (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam). The Makkans were ecstatic. "This is the trustworthy one (Al-Ameen)" they shouted in a chorus. "This is Muhammad." He came to them and they asked him to decide on the matter. He agreed. Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) proposed a solution that all agreed to - putting the Black Stone on a cloak, the elders of each of the clans held on to one edge of the cloak and carried the stone to its place. The Prophet (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) then picked up the stone and placed it on the wall of the Kabah. Since the tribe of Quraish did not have sufficient funds, this reconstruction did not include the entire foundation of the Kabah as built by Prophet Ibrahim. This is the first time the Kabah acquired the cubical shape it has now, unlike the rectangle shape which it had earlier. The portion of the Kabah left out is called Hateem now.

Bismillah [IslamCity] wife of Abu Bakr Siddique and the mother of 'Aishah
wife of Abu Bakr Siddique and the mother of 'Aishah She was the wife of Abu Bakr Siddique and the mother of 'Aishah. Thus she was the Prophet's [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] mother-in-law. Her son, 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr Siddique, was an excellent horseman, and master strategist in war. It was she who taught him the meaning of valor and courage. Her real name was Zainab, but she came to be known by her family name. She was a patient and tolerant lady who did not jump to hasty conclusions, but gave matters deep thought. This was evident in the way she handled the incident when people of loose tongues and small minds accused 'Aishah of adultery. When her husband explained to her the teachings of Islam she did not linger with doubts about giving up the religion of her forefathers. She immediately saw the greatness of Islam and accepted it. She was brought up in an area of the Arabia known as Sarat. When she grew up she married a young man from her tribe named 'Abdullah bin Harith bin Sakhbarah Azdi. She had a son by him, who was named Tufail bin 'Abdullah. They then moved to Makkah, where he became the partner and companion of Abu Bakr Siddique. However, soon after this 'Abdullah bin Harith passed away, and his widow and son were left with no support. Seeing her precarious condition Abu Bakr Siddique married her. Umm Rooman was very happy in her marriage and soon, a son, 'AbdurRahman and a daughter, 'Aishah were bom. Before he came into the fold of Islam, Abu Bakr Siddique was married to Qateelah bint Abdul-'Uzza by whom he already had a daughter Asma' and a son, 'Abdullah. Umm Rooman had accepted Islam in its earliest days. It is written in Tabaqat Ibn Sad that Umm Rooman accepted Islam in the very early days in Makkah. She swore allegiance at the hand of the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] himself and then migrated with the blessed group of immigrants. When she to witness the terrible atrocities committed by the Quraish against the Muslims she would suffer and weep for the innocent victims; but she gained courage when she saw the moral strength and exemplary sacrifice of her husband for the cause of Islim. She drew inspiration from him and found peace in his presence. The Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] also used to exhort his faithful followers not to waver, but to be patient and hold steadfast to their faith, for they would surely in the Hereafter be rewarded with Paradise. During this long period Umm Rooman, remained an image of patience, forbearance, courage and bravery. Most of her time was spent in earnest supplications and prayers to Allah. When she saw her husband's devoted efforts for the propagation of Islam she expressed her admiration and gave him moral support. She devoted her time to the nurturing of her children in the traditions of Islam. The Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] often used to visit the house of his illustrious follower, Abu Bakr Siddique. He would advise Umm Rooman to keep encouraging and instilling the love of goodness in 'Aishah. Khadijah passed away three years before the migration of the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] to Madinah. The Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] spent a year as an unmarried person He then married Aisha at the command of Allah as delivered by the Angel Jibril, that on three consecutive nights he saw her in his dreams. The Angel jibril brought a picture of hers wrapped in a silken cloth, and told him that this was an image of his bride. When he removed the cover he saw that it was her image. 'Aishah was elated to hear that she was chosen to be the Prophet's [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] wife by Allah himself . Khawlah bint Hakim told him there were two proposals for him, that of 'Aishah bint Abu Bakr Siddique and Saudah bint Zam'ah. He accepted both, and thus Umm Rooman' had the honour of becoming his mother-in-law. When the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] was ordered by Allah to migrate to Madinah he went to the house of his closest friend and Companion, Abu Bakr Siddique. Without any questions or hesitation he prepared to accompany the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] . He packed a few things and took all the cash there was in the house. He left his father, wife and children in the trust and care of Allah and set off for an unknown and unseen destination. It was a very tough time for Umm Rooman she was separated from her husband; and there was a lack of money for household expenses, since he had taken all the available cash with him. But what predominated all other thoughts in her mind were supplications to Allah and for the safe arrival of the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] and her husband in Madinah. On reaching their destination safely, she and her family were told to follow to Madinah. When they reached Al-Madinah they stayed at the house of Abu Bakr Siddique arranged for his family. And it was from this house that 'Aishah
Bismillah [IslamCity] THE MOTHER OF Ishmael(as)
THE MOTHER OF Ishmael(as) The first lady to use a girdle was the mother of Ishmael(as). She used a girdle so that she might hide her tracks from Sarah. Abraham brought her and her son Ishmael while she was suckling him, to a place near the Ka'ba under a tree on the spot of Zam-zam, at the highest place in the mosque. During those days there was nobody in Mecca, nor was there any water So he made them sit over there and placed near them a leather bag containing some dates, and a small water-skin containing some water, and set out homeward. Ishmael's mother followed him saying, "O Abraham! Where are you going, leaving us in this valley where there is no person whose company we may enjoy, nor is there anything (to enjoy)?" She repeated that to him many times, but he did not look back at her Then she asked him, "Has Allah ordered you to do so?" He said, "Yes." She said, "Then He will not neglect us," and returned while Abraham proceeded onwards, and on reaching the Thaniya where they could not see him, he faced the Ka'ba, and raising both hands, invoked Allah saying the following prayers: 'O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring dwell in a valley without cultivation, by Your Sacred House (Kaba at Mecca) in order, O our Lord, that they may offer prayer perfectly. So fill some hearts among men with love towards them, and (O Allah) provide them with fruits, so that they may give thanks.' (14.37) Ishmael's mother went on suckling Ishmael and drinking from the water (she had). When the water in the water-skin had all been used up, she became thirsty and her child also became thirsty. She started looking at him (i.e. Ishmael) tossing in agony; She left him, for she could not endure looking at him, and found that the mountain of Safa was the nearest mountain to her on that land. She stood on it and started looking at the valley keenly so that she might see somebody, but she could not see anybody. Then she descended from Safa and when she reached the valley, she tucked up her robe and ran in the valley like a person in distress and trouble, till she crossed the valley and reached the Marwa mountain where she stood and started looking, expecting to see somebody, but she could not see anybody. She repeated that (running between Safa and Marwa) seven times."The Prophet said, "This is the source of the tradition of the walking of people between them (i.e. Safa and Marwa). When she reached the Marwa (for the last time) she heard a voice and she asked herself to be quiet and listened attentively. She heard the voice again and said, 'O, (whoever you may be)! You have made me hear your voice; have you got something to help me?" And behold! She saw an angel at the place of Zam-zam, digging the earth with his heel (or his wing), till water flowed from that place. She started to make something like a basin around it, using her hand in this way, and started filling her water-skin with water with her hands, and the water was flowing out after she had scooped some of it."The Prophet added, "May Allah bestow Mercy on Ishmael's mother! Had she let the Zam-zam (flow without trying to control it) (or had she not scooped from that water) (to fill her water-skin), Zam-zam would have been a stream flowing on the surface of the earth." The Prophet further added, "Then she drank (water) and suckled her child. The angel said to her, 'Don't be afraid of being neglected, for this is the House of Allah which will be built by this boy and his father, and Allah never neglects His people.' The House (i.e. Kaba) at that time was on a high place resembling a hillock, and when torrents came, they flowed to its right and left. She lived in that way till some people from the tribe of Jurhum or a family from Jurhum passed by her and her child, as they (i.e. the Jurhum people) were coming through the way of Kada'. They landed in the lower part of Mecca where they saw a bird that had the habit of flying around water and not leaving it. They said, 'This bird must be flying around water, though we know that there is no water in this valley.' They sent one or two messengers who discovered the source of water, and returned to inform them of the water. So, they all came (towards the water)." The Prophet added, "Ishmael's mother was sitting near the water. They asked her, 'Do you allow us to stay with you?" She replied, 'Yes, but you will have no right to possess the water.' They agreed to that." The Prophet further said, "Ishmael's mother was pleased with the whole situation as she used to love to enjoy the company of the people. So, they settled there, and later on they sent for their families who came and settled with them so that some families became permanent residents there. The child (i.e. Ishmael) grew up and learnt Arabic from them and (his virtues) caused them to love and admire him as he grew up, and when he reached the age of puberty they made him marry a woman from amongst th
Bismillah [IslamCity] must read
Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said that Allah had ordained that he could marry only those women deserving of Paradise. And Zainab radi Allahu anha was a lady who was known as the Mother of the poor and needy because she was the most generous among the ummul mu'mineen. She was born thirteen years before rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was chosen as the Messenger of Allah. When he declared prophethood he caused an uproar in Makkah. Even those who loved and respected him, those who called him 'Truthful' and trustworthy, turned into enemies who wanted to kill him. But there were some who were fortunate enough to have the sense to answer his call immediately with the pledge of allegiance to Allah and to him. They called out that they believed and that he was true in his claim. Among the righteous group of people who first proclaimed his truthfulness was Zainab bint Khazeemah. She had been married to 'Abdullaah bin jahash, a highly respected Companion attained martyrdom during the Battle of Uhud. The widows and orphaned children of the martyred Companion found security with the other Companion who married the widows and took the children under their protection. Thus Zainab bint Khazeemah, after the death of her husband, attained the position of becoming a wife of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Hamnah bint Jahash's husband was also martyred during the Battle of Uhud and she was also grief stricken. Seeing this, rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "The place a husband held in his wife's heart could not be taken by any other." Hamnah told him sighing deeply that it was the thought of the orphaned children that troubled her most and she asked him to pray that Allah should give her patience and strength. The Prophet's prayers for her were accepted and she married the noble Companion Talhah bin 'Abdullah radi Allahu anhu. He was an ideal husband and a loving father for the orphaned children of her first husband. Zainab radi Allahu anha was in the same plight as Hamnah. She entrusted her affairs entirely to Allah and devoted herself to prayer and meditation. So when she received a proposal from the best man possible, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, she was overjoyed with the good fortune that Allah had bestowed on her. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam married her with a dowry of four hundred Dirhams, and an apartment was constructed for her near those of Hafsah and 'Aishah. Thus she joined the selected band of pure and virtuous women of the Prophet's household. Allah has said: "Allah wishes only to remove evil deed from you, 0 member of the family (of the Prophet), and to purify you with a thorough purification." (33:33) And also, "O wives of the Prophet, You are not like any other women." (33:32) Zainab bint Khazeemah even before the advent of lslam was known as 'Mother of the distressed and needy'. This was because she could not bear to see a person hungry or in dire need. Ibn Katheer wrote that she earned the title because of her deeds of charity and generosity. Qastalani writes that she was known by this name even during pre-IslAmic times. This great quality of generosity became even more pronounced and intense when she converted to Islam, which has always strongly advocated giving in charity. The two women who were already part of the household -'Aishah and Hafsah welcomed this new friend and tried their best to give her their sincere sympathetic companionship. They knew that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam married Zainab because she was deeply affected by the death of her first husband. Because of the kind behavior of Aisha and Hafsah radi Allahu anhuma, her grief was lightened and she felt more at peace. She lived barely eight months after her marriage to the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and died at the age of thirty and became the second of the wives of the prophet to die during his lifetime. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam led the funeral prayers and she was buried in Jannatul Baqi'. Allah will be pleased with them and they with Him.
Bismillah [IslamCity] Wife oF HAzRAt Abraham(AS)
Wife oF HAzRAt Abraham(AS) The Prophet said, "The Prophet Abraham emigrated with Sarah and entered a village where there was a king or a tyrant. (The king) was told that Abraham had entered (the village) accompanied by a woman who was one of the most charming women. So, the king sent for Abraham and asked, 'O Abraham! Who is this lady accompanying you?' Abraham replied, 'She is my sister (i.e. in religion).' Then Abraham returned to her and said, 'Do not contradict my statement, for I have informed them that you are my sister. By Allah, there are no true believers on this land except you and 1.' Then Abraham sent her to the king. When the king got to her, she got up and performed ablution, prayed and said, 'O Allah! If I have believed in You and Your Apostle, and have saved my private parts from everybody except my husband, then please do not let this pagan overpower me.' On that the king fell in a mood of agitation and started moving his legs. Seeing the condition of the king, Sarah said, 'O Allah! If he should die, the people will say that I have killed him.' The king regained his power, and proceeded towards her but she got up again and performed ablution, prayed and said, 'O Allah! If I have believed in You and Your Apostle and have kept my private parts safe from all except my husband, then please do not let this pagan overpower me.' The king again fell in a mood of agitation and started moving his legs. On seeing that state of the king, Sarah said, 'O Allah! If he should die, the people will say that I have killed him.' The king got either two or three attacks, and after recovering from the last attack he said, 'By Allah! You have sent a satan to me. Take her to Abraham and give her Ajar.' So she came back to Abraham and said, 'Allah humiliated the pagan and gave us a slavegirl for service." [Narrated Abu Huraira: Bukhari]

Bismillah [IslamCity] The covering of one's nakedness (awra) is of utmost importance for a male and female in Islam,
The covering of one's nakedness (awra) is of utmost importance for a male and female in Islam, thus the Qur'an and Sunnah have laid great emphasis with regards to this. We also see the various books of Islamic Jurisprudence (fiqh) discussing the issues relating to the Awra of both the male and female in great detail. In this brief article, I will attempt to shed some light and look comprehensively as to what is a woman's Awra. Awra is an Arabic term the plural of which is Awrat. Linguistically, it means a hidden and secret place, and a person's Awra is that which must be kept hidden. It also refers to everything that causes shame when exposed, thus, the Awra of an individual is the area of the body which (normally) causes embarrassment if exposed. (Ibn Manzur, Lisan al-Arab, 9/370). In the terminology of Islamic Jurisprudence, Awra refers to the area or part of the body that must be covered with appropriate clothing. In the English language, it is normally translated as 'nakedness' or 'area of the body that must be concealed'. Many people (normally form the Indo/pak) refer to it as 'Satar'. For the purpose of simplicity, I will use the term 'Awra' in this article, Insha Allah. THE AWRA OF A WOMAN A woman's Awra can be initially divided into two categories: 1) Inside prayer 2) Outside prayer The latter is then divided into further sub-categories: a) In seclusion b) In front of the husband c) In front of Muslim women d) In front of Mahram males (unmarriageable kin) e) In front of non-Mahram males f) In front of non-Muslim women g) In front of non-Muslim Mahram males 1) Awra inside prayer (Salat) A woman's Awra whilst performing Salat consists of the whole body except the face, hands and feet. Allah Most High says: "O children of Adam! Wear your beautiful apparel (zeenah) at every time and place of prayer." (Surah al-A'raf, 31) The majority of the Companions (Allah be pleased with them all), their followers (tabi'un), Jurists and exegetes of the Qur'an have deduced from this verse (along with the other evidences) the obligation of covering one's Awra in prayer. (See: Abu Bakr ibn al-Arabi, Ahkam al-Qur'an, 4/205, Ma'arif al-Qur'an (English), 3/565) Sayyida Aisha (Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: "Allah does not accept the prayer of a woman who experiences menstruation (i.e. who has reached puberty, m) except with a head cover (khimar)." (Sunan Abu Dawud, no. 641, Sunan Tirmidhi, Sunan Ibn Majah and others) The great Hanafi jurist, Imam al-Haskafi (Allah have mercy on him) states in his renowned Durr al-Mukhtar: "The Awra for a free woman (i.e. not a slave, m) is her full body including her descending hair according to the correct opinion, except for the face, hands and feet". (See Radd al-Muhtar, 1/405). continue... pray for me my sister and my father jazak Allah - Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now.

Prescribed Punishments (Kitab Al-Hudud) Dawud :: Book 38 : Hadith 4474 Narrated AbdurRahman ibn Azhar: I saw the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) on the morning of the conquest of Mecca when I was a young boy. He was walking among the people, seeking the camp of Khalid ibn al-Walid. A man who had drunk wine was brought (before him) and he ordered them (to beat him). So they beat him with what they had in their hands. Some struck him with whips, some with sticks and some with sandals. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) threw some dust on his face. When a man who had drunk wine was brought before AbuBakr, he asked them (i.e. the people) about the number of beatings which they gave him. They numbered it forty. So AbuBakr gave him forty lashes. When Umar came to power, Khalid ibn al-Walid wrote to him: The people have become addicted to drinking wine and they look down upon the prescribed punishment and its penalty. He said: They are with you, ask them. The immigrants who embraced Islam in the beginning were with him. He asked them and they agreed on the fact that (a drunkard) should be given eighty lashes. Ali said: When a man drinks wine, he tells lies. I, therefore, think that he should be prescribed punishment that is prescribed for telling lies.. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) then died, and AbuBakr gave forty lashes for drinking wine, and then Umar in the beginning of his Caliphate inflicted forty stripes and at the end of his Caliphate he inflicted eighty stripes. Uthman (after him) inflicted both punishments, eighty and forty stripes, and finally Mu'awiyah established eighty stripes. He asked the people: Beat him. Some struck him with sandals, some with sticks and some with fresh branches of the palm-tree (mitakhah). Ibn Wahb said: This (mitakhah) means green palm fronds. Punishments (Kitab Al-Hudud) Dawud :: Book 38 : Hadith 4374 Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) had a man's hand cut off for (stealing) a shield whose price was a dinar or ten dirham Dawud :: Book 38 : Hadith 4382 Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: A woman borrowed jewellery through some known persons and she herself was unknown. She then sold them. She was seized and brought to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him). He gave orders that her hand should be cut off. It is this woman about whom Usamah interceded and of her the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said whatever he said. Dawud :: Book 38 : Hadith 4384 Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said: There are three (persons) whose actions are not recorded: a sleeper till he awakes, an idiot till he is restored to reason, and a boy till he reaches puberty. Dawud :: Book 38 : Hadith 4385 Narrated Ali ibn AbuTalib: Ibn Abbas said: A lunatic woman who had committed adultery was brought to Umar. He consulted the people and ordered that she should be stoned. Ali ibn AbuTalib passed by and said: What is the matter with this (woman)? They said: This is a lunatic woman belonging to a certain family. She has committed adultery. Umar has given orders that she should be stoned. He said: Take her back. He then came to him and said: Commander of the Faithful, do you not know that there are three people whose actions are not recorded: a lunatic till he is restored to reason, a sleeper till he awakes, and a boy till he reaches puberty? He said: Yes. He then asked: Why is it that this woman is being stoned? He said: There is nothing. He then said: Let her go. He (Umar) let her go and began to utter: Allah is most great. Dawud :: Book 38 : Hadith 4398 Narrated AbuHurayrah: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: When a slave steals, sell him, even though it be for half an uqiyah. Dawud :: Book 38 : Hadith 4407 Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: Ma'iz ibn Malik came to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and said that he had committed fornication and he (the Prophet) turned away from him. He repeated it many times, but he (the Prophet) turned away from him. He asked his people: Is he mad? They replied: There is no defect in him. He asked: Have you done it with her? He replied: Yes. so he ordered that he should be stoned to death. He was taken out and stoned to death, and he (the Prophet) did not pray over him. Dawud :: Book 38 : Hadith 4412 Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: Ma'iz ibn Malik came to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and admitted fornication twice. But he drove him away. He then came and admitted fornication twice. But he drove him away. He then came and admitted fornication twice. He (the Prophet) said: You have testified to yourself four times. Take him away and stone him to death. Dawud :: Book 38 : Hadith 4421 Narrated Al-Lajlaj al-Amiri: I was working in the market. A woman passed carrying a child. The people rushed towards her, and I also rushed along with them. I then went to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) while he was asking: Who is the father of this (child) who is with you? She remained silent. A young man by her side said: I am his father, Apostle of Allah! He then turned towards her and asked: Who is the father of this child with you? The young man said: I am his father, Apostle of Allah! The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) then looked at some of those who were around him and asked them about him. They said: We only know good (about him). The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said to him: Are you married? He said: Yes. So he gave orders regarding him and he was stoned to death. He (the narrator) said: We took him out, dug a pit for him and put him in it. We then threw stones at him until he died. A man then came asking about the man who was stoned. We brought him to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and said: This man has come asking about the wicked man. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said: He is more agreeable than the fragrance of musk in the eyes of Allah. The man was his father. We then helped him in washing, shrouding and burying him. (The narrator said:) I do not know whether he said or did not say "in praying over him." This is the tradition of Abdah, and it is more accurate. __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Bismillah [IslamCity] Justice Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani
Contemporary Fatawa By Justice Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani The Language Of The Khutbah Of Jumah Q. "Is it necessary that the khutbah of Jum'ah is given in Arabic language or can it be given in some other language also. Some people say that if it is given in a local language it may be more useful to the audience.". (Shabbir Ali, Toronto) A. The Khutbah of Jum'ah is not essentially a lecture meant for the people. Rather, it is a part of the prayer of Jum'ah. It is evident that the numbers of Rak'at in a Zuhr Prayer is four. On the Day of Jum'ah, the number of Rak'at has been reduced to two only, and the remaining two Rak'ats have been substituted by a Khutbah, which is basically a form of dhikr (ritual recitation of Allah's name), and by this name it has been referred to in the Holy Qur'an (Surah al'Jum'ah). Therefore, being a part of the Prayer of dhikr, it can only be performed in Arabic. and just as the prayer of Jum'ah cannot be performed in a local language, the Khutbah cannot be given in any language other than Arabic. The Companions of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) went to a number of places outside Arabia and preached Islam there, but they never used a local language while offering a Khutbah of Jum'ah. They used the local language in other lectures and sermons, but not in the prescribed khutbah on Friday. This helps the Muslims being in at least verbal contact with Arabic, the language of the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah. Contemporary Fatawa By Justice Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani Meaning Of Dhikr Q. A non-Muslim studying Islamics at a university is writing a project on the Tablighi Jamaat. Since I got to know him because of this, he frequently asks a thing or two concerning his project. One question is this : "As far as I know "Dhikr" is not used in the Tablighi Jamaat in the same sense as Sufis use it, who use it often for mystical and spiritual exercises to attain a state of ecstasy. What is meant by "Dhikr" in Tablighi Jamaat and what is the difference between "Dhikr" and the Prayer (Salah)?" The latter part of the question specially is beyond me. Could you give me an answer as quick as possible? A. Dhikr is a special type of Islamic worship which means remembrance of Allah Almighty. Although remembrance is an act of heart, yet the recitation of some words or sentences glorifying the names of Allah is also a part of Dhikr because such recitations may ultimately inculcate an inner state of perpetual remembrance of Allah. It is totally erroneous to presume that the Sufis undertake Dhikr to attain a state of ecstasy. In fact any kind of ecstasy is not an objective of any Islamic worship, rather the acts of worship on their own are commendable because they demonstrate one's total submission to the commands of Allah Almighty. Whether or not a state of ecstasy is attained has no importance with regard to Dhikr or any other type of Worship. The true Sufis as well as other Muslim scholars undertake Dhikr only to demonstrate their submission to Allah and not to creat ecstasy. Those who claim that the basic purpose of Dhikr is to attain ecstacy are either ignorant of the true teachings of Islam or have a confusion about it, because they cannot fortify such a notion with any statement in the Holy Qur'an or in the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W). As for the difference between Dhikr and Prayer, it can be summarized by saying that Dhikr is a general remembrance of Allah while prayer in the meaning of supplication is to put one's request before Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, and both of these are specific kinds of Dhikr. Q. I have been in the practice of making 4 Rak'at with one Taslim, I ask if I forget to recite the Thana at the beginning of the 3 third Raka'at and start the recitation of Surah Fatihah and then remember, can I stop reciting the Surah and recite the Thana and then recite the Surah? Or should I just make Sajdah-Sahw? 2. Again concerning the making of 4 Raka'at with one Taslim, In the first two Raka'at I recite Surah 111 and 112 is it permissible for me now to recite 94 and 95 in the 3rd and 4th raka'at since these are considered two new raka'at? 3. If one does not remember how many Sajdah he has made and makes another not knowing whether it is the second or third should he make Sujudus-Sahw or start the Salat a fresh? 4. It is reported in Shamaa'il Tirmidhi Hadith (294) that the Sahabi 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn 'Aas (R.A) made up his mind that he would strive to intensify his devotions, and he did such by fasting each day and praying all night. His father became upset about this and went to Sayyidna Rasullalah (S.A.W) and complained. Sayyidna Rasullalah (S.A.W) called Abdullah and asked him : "I have heard you always fast during the day, and stand in prayer the whole night?" He Replied:

Contemporary Fatawa By Justice Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani Congregational Supplication Q. "It is noticed lately, in some Mosques, that supplications (Du'a) is offered in congregation, lead by the Imam with loud and piercing voice, sight frequently observed in normal days, and particularly during Ramadan in the Lailatul Qadr. Is there any justification for such congregational prayers in Shariah? If not, what is the prescribed way for the person leading the prayers (Imam) to make supplication? A. Congregational supplication, is never reported to be performed by the Holy Prophet ( Sallaho Alaihai Wasallam ) in the manner explained in your question. It appears from the relevant ahadith that in the days of the Holy Prophet ( Sallaho Alaihai Wasallam ) he used to pray on his own, even after salah. But at the same there is no clear injunction in the Holy Qur'an or in the Sunnah which prohibits such congregational supplication. In view of both these aspects, the correct position is that congregational supplications are neither a sunnah nor something prohibited. It is only one of the several permissible ways of performing supplications. However, if somebody takes this congregational method as obligatory or as a sunnah of the Holy Prophet ( Sallaho Alaihai Wasallam ), then this wrong concept will render this practice a "bid'ah" (innovation), hence impermissible, because a practice which was not obligatory or a sunnah at the time of the Holy Prophet ( Sallaho Alaihai Wasallam ) cannot be held as such after him. It will be a selfcoined addition to the prescribed ways of worship, which is termed as bid'ah in the words of the Holy Prophet ( Sallaho Alaihai Wasallam ) and is strictly prohibited. In the light of this principle, if the congregational way of supplication is adopted only for the convenience of the audience, without taking this particular manner as an obligatory method or a sunnah of the Holy Prophet ( Sallaho Alaihai Wasallam ) it is quite permissible in Shariah. But if this method is observed with a belief of its being obligatory or a sunnah, it is not allowed. It is noticed that where congregational supplications are permanently observed, it sometimes creates an impression that such collective supplication is a necessary part of the Salah, since this impression is not correct position as mentioned above. Contemporary Fatawa By Justice Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani How To Perform Salah Where Qiblah Is Not Known Q. Sometimes we are at a place where we do not know the exact direction of Qiblah. How should we perform salah in such places? Can we use the scientific instruments to find out the direction of the Qiblah? what should we do if we do not have such instruments? (Abdullah - Toronto, Canada) A. Certainly one can use the scientific instruments to find out the accurate direction of Qiblah. However, if somebody is at a place where he has no such instruments nor can he find anybody to tell him the correct direction of the Qiblah, he should to the best of his ability findout the direction by estimate. After doing his best, he can offer his prayer facing a direction which seems to him more correct ; His salah will be acceptable in Shariah. In this case, even if it is learnt after performing Salah that the correct direction was otherwise, the Salah is acceptable, and the same need not be performed again. It should, however, be kept in mind that this rule is applicable only to aperson who has done his best to find out the correct direction of the Qiblah. Conversely, if he has not applied his mind to ascertain the Qiblah and performed Salah carelessly to any direction, his salah is not acceptable in case he has performed it facing a wrong direction. Contemporary Fatawa By Justice Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani Jumah Prayer While On Journey Q. "What is the position of jum'ah prayer in journey? How far the jum'ah prayer is mandatory when one is on travel?" (Ibid) A. Jum'ah prayer is not mandatory (fard) on a traveller. It is permissible for him to perform the Zuhr prayer instead of Jum'ah. But since the Jum'ah prayer is far more rewardable than the normal Zuhr prayer, one should not miss it as far as possible even when he is on journey. - Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.
Bismillah [IslamCity] By Justice Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani
Contemporary Fatawa By Justice Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani When A Person Is Doubtful On How Many Rakat He Has Performed Q. "It frequently happens during Namaz (Salah) that I forget the correct number of Rak'at I have performed. For example, I get confused during the Salah whether I have performed two Rak'ats or three Rak'ats. Normally in such a situation I repeat my Prayer all over again. Is this what we are supposed to do or is here any other solution to this problem? Please enlighten me in this respect." (Maleeha Siddiqi, Karachi) A. You need not repeat the prayer every time you face such a situation. If a person has experienced this confusion for the first time, he or she is required to repeat the Salah. However, if this confusion occurs frequently, as in your case, you are not required to repeat the prayer. Instead, whenever you are confused during your Prayer, you should guess and should act according to the number which appears to you more probable. For example, if you are confused in the Zuhr Prayer whether you have performed two Rak'ats, or three Rak'ats, and after reflection it seems to you more probable that you have performed three Rak'ats, you should act accordingly and after adding one more Rak'at, your four Rak'at will be deemed to have been complete. But even after reflection, you cannot recollect the actual number of Rak'ats, both possibilities are equal and you cannot prefer one of them over the other, then you should act according to the lesser number. For example, if you caanot reflect whether you have performed two Rak'ats or three Rak'ats, you should presume that you have prayed only two Rak'ats and should add two more Rak'ars to complete your Zuhr prayer. However, in this case (i.e. when acting according to the lesser number) one should sit for tashahhud after each Rak'at which could possibly be his last Rak'at. Therefore, in the above example, (when one is confused about two or three Rak'at, and takes it to be his second rak'at) he should sit after his next Rak'at and should recite tashahhud, because there is a possibility that it is his fourth and last Rak'at. Then after reciting tashahhud, he should stand up and should complete the four Rak'at according to his presumption, and should perform a sajdah of sahw in the last. Take another example : Suppose, you are saying the Prayer and get confused whether it is your first Rak'at or the second one. Both possibilities are equal. Now you should take it as your first Rak'at. Normally it means that you should not sit for tashahhud after Sajdah but since there is a possibility that it is your second Rak'at i.e. the last Rak'at in the fair prayer, you should sit after sajdah and after reciting tashahhud should you stand up again and perform another Rak'at with a sajdah of sahw at its end. In this manner, you can resolve the problem without repeating the prayer Contemporary Fatawa By Justice Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani Performing Qada Prayers Q. "A person is regular in his daily five time prayers, but for some reason one of his prayers becomes qada', and the time for next prayer arrives. what should be the sequence of the performance of his prayers, under such a situation?" A. The person who has never missed six prayers, or the number of his qada prayers is less than six is termed as " sahib-ut- tartib". Whenever a prayer is missed by such a person, he has to observe full sequence between the prayers. He is bound to perform the qada' Prayer before the qada' prayers of the time. For example, if he has missed the Zuhr prayer, then at the time of 'Asr, he must perform the qada' of Zuhr, his 'Asrprayer will be void, and he will have to pray again. Observance of sequence is necessary between the different qada Prayers also. All the qada prayers should be perform in the same order in which they were missed. So, if a person has missed both the fajr and the Zuhr prayers, then, at the time of 'Asr he must perform the qada of fajr first of all, then he should perform the qada of Zuhr, and then he should pray the 'Asr. If the disturbed this sequence, he will have to pray again observing the due sequence. The observance of sequence is obligatory on every sahib-ut-tartib in normal conditions. However, if he, while performing 'Asr prayers, forgot that his Zuhr prayer had been missed, and he prayed 'Asr under this impression, his 'Asr prayer is acceptable and he need not pray it gain. Similarly if the time of 'Asr remains so short that, in case he prays qada'first, the 'Asr time will be over, then also he can pray 'Asr first. All these rules relate to a person who is sahib-ut-tartib. But if a person is not sahib-ut-tartib i.e. the number of qada prayers due on him is six or more, the observance of sequence is not obligatory on him and he can pray in

Contemporary Fatawa By Justice Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani Sunnah Salah In Journey Q. Should we perform the Sunnah Salah while we are on journey and whilst performing Qasr in the obligatory prayers? Some people say that the Sunnah Salah is not permissible in journey, and the Holy Prophet ( Sallal Laho Alaihi Wasallam ) did not perform it during his travels. What is the correct view of the Shariah? (Ibid) A. The correct position, according to the majority of Muslim jurists, is that the Sunnah becomes Nafl or mustahabb when one is on travel. if he performs it, he deserves much reward, but if he leaves it, there is no sin on him.It is not correct to say that the Holy Prophet ( Sallal Laho Alaihi Wasallam ) did not offer the Sunnah prayer during his travels. In fact, sometimes the Holy Prophet did perform the Sunnah Prayer while on travel and sometimes he did not. Both ways are equally eastablished by the authentic traditions. For example, he blessed Companion Bara' ibn ' Azib reports that he accompanied the Holy Prophet ( Sallal Laho Alaihi Wasallam ) in eighteen journeys and he never found him abandoning the two rak'at after the Zawal. (See Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood) Even 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar has reported both ways. In a tradition he reports that the Holy Prophet ( Sallal Laho Alaihi Wasallam ) did not offer the Sunnah or nafl prayers in this travels but in another report he says that the Holy Prophet ( Sallal Laho Alaihi Wasallam ) used to offer Sunnah or nafl Prayers. Both the reports are available in the Sunnan of Tirmidhi. There is, in fact no contradiction between the reports. Actually, the Holy Prophet ( Sallal Laho Alaihi Wasallam ). Sometimes prayed the Sunnah prayers, and sometimes left them. So, all the four muslim Schools (Hanafi, Shaf'i, Maliki and Hanbali) are unanimous on the point that performing the Sunnah prayers in journey is more desirable if one is in peaceful condition. However, if someone does not offer the Sunnah Prayer while he is in journey, he should not be regarded as sinful. (See Almughni, Ibn Qudamah (2:141) and Ibn 'Abidin) Contemporary Fatawa By Justice Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani The Time Of Salah For Women Q. "Is it necessary for a women to wait for call of Azan before she can offer her prayers (salah) or can she perform her prayers as soon as the time for that particular prayer becomes due?". (Ibid) A. The ladies need not wait for the call of Azan. They can offer their prayers soon after they are sure that the time for a particular salah has arrived, no matter whether the Call of Azan has been pronounced in the Masjid or not. The Holy Qur'an says, Surely, the Salah for the Muslims is an obligation related with time.It is clear from this verse of the Holy Qur'an that the basic requirement for the validity of a particular salah is that it should be performed within the time prescribed for it. The call of Azan, on the other hand, is meant for inviting men to proceed to the Masjid for their congregational prayer. Since women are exempt from joining the congregational prayers, they are not concerned with the call of Azan. They can offer their prayers in their homes well before Azan, provided the prescribed time has arrived. The only thing they are required to do is to make sure that the prescribed time has come. Duties Of The Spouses : Right Of The Wife It is evident from a plain study of the relevant material found in the Holy Quran and Sunnah that Islam treats the relationship of marriage as a bilateral contract between Husband and Wife, each one of them having some rights and obligations. The Holy Quran is very much clear on this point when it says: "And the woman have rights similar to their obligations". (2:228) It is clear from this verse of the Holy Quran that the obligations of a wife towards her husband are not less than the rights she enjoys. The Holy Quran has summarized the obligations of husband towards his wife in a short phrase where the Holy Quran has made it mandatory for a husband To keep her with fairness" (2:229) At another place, the Holy Quran instructs the husbands in the following words: "And live with them (wives) in fairness". (4:19) Therefore, it is not correct that Islam has laid more emphasis on the obligations of a wife than on the obligations of a husband. Conversely, the Holy Prophet ( Sallaho Alaihai Wasallam ) has emphasized on the rights of women in a larger number of his sayings which are probably more than

. The Holy Qur'an has never allowed the Muslim girls to marry a non-Muslim boy, no matter whether he is a Christian or a jew or a Hindu or a Parci. However, The Holy Qur'an has allowed a Muslim boy to marry a Christian or a jewish gril. But there are two important points which should always be kept in mind in this respect : 1. It is only the Christian and jewish women that are allowed to be married by a Muslim. No woman of any other religion or belief is halal for a Muslim. The woman who are Chiristian or jewonly by their names, and do not actually beleive in any religion, like a large number of people in the western countries, cannot be termed as "Ahl-al-Kitab" (people of the book). They are atheists and it is not allowed in Shariah to marry an atheistic women. 2. Shariah has allowed the Muslims to marry a Christian or a Jewish girl only where there is no apprehension that the husband or his children may come under her influence in religious matters. In the early days of the Islamic history every Muslim was duly equiped with adequate knowledge of his religion and hand an unshaken commitment to the Islamic principles. Therefore, there was no apprehension that he would be misled by any foreign influence. Rather, he was supposed to convince his wife in religious issues. Therefore, if a Muslim is fully confident that his marriage with a Christian or a Jewish girl will never affect the religious life of himself or of his children, then there is no bar against such a marriage. But if he is not so confident, then, he must avoid marrying a non-Muslim girl. Even in the days of the Sahabah (the Companions of the Holy Prophet (Sallaho Alaihai Wasallam)) some people were not advised to marry a Christian or the Jewish gril for this very reason. Family Law By Justice Maulana Muhammad Taqi UsmaniIs Earning AliveliHood An Obligation Q. And lastly, more and more Muslim brothers are marrying and cannot afford to support a wife. Their families either become a ward of the government or they experience a life of meagre subsistence. In fact we know of one sister whose husband was injured on his job. he was awarded a small sum of money on monthly basis by the government. The money is not enough to maintain his family. Yet! although he is not disabled to the point where he cannot work he refuses to look for a job to bring in additional income to support this family. He claims he is doing Allah's work since he is out to invite every person he meets to embrace Islam and will not withdraw from Allah's work for the Dunya. Whose duty is it, then, to support his family? Or can the sister request a divorce based on her husband's inability to support this family. (Ibid) A. Every Muslim is duty bound to earn livelihood for himself and for the dependent members of his family. This is not a mundane duty only, but it is a religious obligation also. The Holy Prophet ( Sallaho Alaihai Wasallam ) has said: "To earn the lawful livelihood is a religious duty after the religious obligations (like prayers, fasting etc.) Since the dependent members of his family are entitled to get maintenance from a Muslim head of the family, he cannot avoid his economic responsibilities on the pretext that he is engaged in religious work. He should provide his family with their necessary economic requirements and then he can devote the rest of his time to the work of Tabligh. If he fails to discharge his duty in this respect and the wife has no other source of livelihood, she can approach a Muslim court for the dissolution of her marriage from her husband who does not give her the proper maintenance. Family Law By Justice Maulana Muhammad Taqi UsmaniMarriage On Telephone Q. A lives in the United States of America. He wants to marry B, a gril living in Karachi. A, for a number of reasons, cannot come to Karachi to marry her, nor B can go to U.S. unless she is proved to be the wife of A. How can A and B contract a valid marriage without meeting each other? Is it permissible for them under Shariah to contract marriage on telephone by pronouncing offer and acceptance? A. Nikah (marriage) cannot take place on telephone, because it is a necessary condition for a valid contract of marriage that at least two witnesses should be present at the time of mariage and should witness both offer and acceptance. This necessary condition cannot be fulfilled in a telephone conversation. However, if A wants to marry B without both being present at one place, he can authorize any one of his friends or relatives living in Karachi to contract his marriage and appoint him his agent to pronounce offer or acceptance on his behalf. If, for example he selects C to be his agent for this purpose, he should authorize him in the following words : "I authorize you to contract my marriage with B, daughter of D, on a sum ofas dower." Then, at the time of marriage ceremony in presence of at least two male witnesses, the girl may pronounce her offer saying "I married A, son of E on a sum ofas dower." If there is a Qadi or a Nikah Khwan duly authorized by the girl, he can also pronounce offer in the following words: "I gave B, daughter of D in marriage with A on the sum ofas dower." C, the agent of A, will say in reply, "I accepted this marriage on behalf of A." The offer can also be initiated by C as an agent of A. In this case he will address B in the following words: "Being a duly authorized agent of A, I marry A, son of G, to you on a sum of.as dower." In this case B will reply, "I accepted this marriage." In both cases, it will be a valid contract between A and B, whereafter they will be treated as husband and wife duly wedded to each other according to Shariah. - Never miss a thing. Bismillah [IslamCity] CLASSES OF HALAL AND HARAM
CLASSES OF HALAL AND HARAM (1) Things which are naturally unlawful. (2) Earnings which are unlawful. (1) Things which are naturally unlawful. The things which are naturally unlawful are wine, blood, meat of pigs, dead animals, etc. Naturally lawful The things fit for eating in the world are of three kinds, (A) Minerals and Natural Resources (B) Vegetation (C) Animals or similiar kind (A) Minerals and Natural ResourcesMinerals are of different kinds. What grows out of earth; is lawful for eating ( and drink) i.e. salt, water etc. except what causes harm. There are things which have got the effect of poison. They are unlawful as they are injurious things. (B) Vegetation They are lawful for eating such as vegetable, grains, fruits etc. except those which remove intellect, take life and ruin health. The things which destroy intellect are wine and intoxicants. The things which destroy life are poisons. The things which ruin health are medicines used out of time (out dated or inappropriate). (C) Animals or similiar kind They are of two kind (a ) What is eatable (b) What is not eatable. Birds, beasts and animals in land and water which are fit for eating and which, if sacrificed according to the rules of Shariat, become lawful . What is not sacrificed according to the rules of Shariat and what is dead are unlawful, However out of dead animals , two kinds are lawful--fish and locusts. The following animals are lawful according to this rule worms in food-stuffs and fruits, etc. What is not liking to a particular person is Makruh for eating. Rasulullah (sallallaho alaihe wasallam) said : Immerse a fly if it falls in food.' If an ant falls in food, it does not become impure. if a portion of flesh of a dead man falls in food, the whole food becomes unlawful. It is not on account of impurity, as man does not become impure after death, but it is out of horror. Animal (except fish and locusts) if sacrificed according to Shariat, becomes lawful except its blood and what is attached to its impurities. Regarding vegetables, what produces intoxication in unlawful and what removes intellect is unlawful .One drop of an impure thing renders food unlawful. (2) Earnings which are unlawful. There are two kind of earning-- what is taken willingly or unwillingly and what comes to the owner spontaneously. What is taken willingly or unwillingly are of two kinds. (A) One kind is what is taken without the knowledge of the owner, such as minerals underneath the ground. (B) Another kind is what is taken from the owner himself. The latter is of two kinds. (a) What is taken by force from him, What is taken by force is again of two kind (i) what is taken from the maintenance and care of the owner, such as quadrupeds, (ii) what is taken from him by virtue of power of the ruling authorities, such as Zakat and other economic liabilities (b) What is taken with his permission. . What is taken with the permission of the owner is of two kinds (i) What is taken from him in exchange, such as buy and sale, dower, wages, (ii) what is not taken in exchange, such a gift, waist??. Thus the things of earnings are of six kinds. (1) To become owner of the things of which there is no owner such as minerals and natural resources, to make barren land fertile, to gather fuels and woods from jungles, to take water from river, to take grass, etc. To take these things are lawful provided there is no owner of these things. (2) What is taken by force and what is not prohibited are the properties gained after battle and without actual battle. They are lawful for all Muslims when one-fifth is taken out from the war booties and divided justly among those who are entitled to them. It is unlawful to take booty from those unbelievers with whom there is treaty. (3) What can lawfully be taken by force inspite of prohibition of the owner, such as Zakat . It can only be taken by the ruling authorities. (4) What is taken in exchange of things with the consent of the owner is lawful, such as buy and sale transactions. (5) What is taken simply with permission without exchange of things, such as gifts, will, etc, is lawful. (6) What comes spontaneously in possessions, such as properties by inheritance after deduction of necessary expense such as funeral expenses, death instructions by will or otherwise, expenses of expiation of religious duties, expenses of pilgrimage, etc. They are lawful. Bismillah [IslamCity] Justice Maulana Muhammad Taqi Usmani
Source: Justice Maulana Muhammad Taqi Usmani Q:'al-Masjid-al-Aqsa mentioned in Surah Bani Isra'il of the Holy Quran refers to a plot of land only, and there was no built mosque on that plot in the days of the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi Wassallam). Is this correct? Is the present Masjid built on the same plot? And who had built it first? (A.S. Naviwala Karachi) A. This is not correct. What we call it al-Masjid al-Aqsa today was originally built by Sayyidna Dawood by Sayyidna Sulaiman. It was in the form of a mosque even in the days of the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi Wassallam). Imam Baghawri reports that when the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi Wassallam) informed the infidels of Makkah that he has been taken by Allah to al-Masjid-al-Aqsa, they did not believe it and started asking him about the details of the building of the mosque, and the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi Wassallam) gave then full account of the building. They asked him about the minute details of the structure of the mosque and the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi Wassallam)gave all their answers correctly. (See al-Tafsir al-Mazhari v.5 p.402) It is thus clear that al-Masjid al-Aqsa was not merely a vacant plot of land. There was a mosque built over it. As mentioned earlier, the Masjid was originally erected in the days of Dawood and Sulaiman Then; it has been renovated several times. According to some reports this Masjid was distracted when Sayyidna 'Umar took its charge. He builds it again, and then Abdul-Malik ibn Marwan was the first Muslim ruler who had renovated it after Sayyidna Umar. Q . In Western countries, Muslim parents arrange the marriage ceremony of their sons and daughters in their Mosques because the option of renting a suitable hall is generally not available, or affordable. The ceremony is followed by music or dance programs at some places. Is it permissible to hold such programs in the Mosques? A. As for the solemnizing of marriage, holding it in Mosques is a recommended practice according to the Ahadith of the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi Wassallam). But, singing and dancing are not permissible under any condition. Therefore, the holding of marriage ceremonies in Mosques, ceremonies which include such forbidden and immodest practices is not permissible. Q. "What is the correct term "Hajj-e-Akbar"? It is generally presumed that the Hajj performed on Friday is called "Hajj-e- Akbar" and it is a superior kind of Hajj as compared with the Hajj performed on other days of the week. What is the correct position in Shariah?" (Ibid) A. The term used in the Holy Quran is "al-hajj-al-Akbar". But it does not mean a Hajj performed on Friday, as generally alleged by ignorant people. The Holy Quran has used this term for the Hajj performed by the Muslims under the supervision of Sayyidna Abu Bakr Siddiq (R.A.) in the year 9 A.H.i.e. one year earlier to the last Hajj of the Holy Prophet (Sallaho Alaihai Wasallam), and this Hajj (the Hajj of 9 A.H.) was not performed on Friday. Still, the Holy Quran has called it "al-Hajj-al- Akbar". It is clear from this that this term has no reference to Friday. The Correct meaning of the term, as explained by a large number of the commentators of the Holy Quran is that the Umrah, which can be performed at any time throughout the year, was generally called "al-hajj-Asghar" (the minor Hajj). In order to distinguish hajj from Umrah the former was named "al-Hajj-al-Akbar" (the greater hajj). Therefore, each and every hajj is al-hajj-al-akbar, no matter whether it is performed on Friday or on any other day. The word "Akbar" (greater) is used only to distinguish it from Umrah which is a minor Hajj. - Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.

I was shocked and also very scared that it is dark time if people are trying to cross the limit of Islam. I dont know why we adopted bad thing very easily but we dont adopt good thing Here I want to show answer of well-known alim deen Justice Maulana Muhammad Taqi Usmani Q 3. Muslim women living in Western countries have to shake hands with male strangers who sometimes visit their offices or schools. Similarly, there are occasions when Muslim men get into a no go situation when they have to shake hands with female strangers. In the event of a refusal to do so, the likelihood of harm coming from them is not that remote. Does the Shariah of Islam permit a handshake in this situation? A 3. Women shaking hands with male strangers and men shaking hands with female strangers is not permissible under any circumstances. This position is fully supported by clear statements in the noble Ahadith and all jurists concur on this being impermissible. - Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! HALAL AND HARAM (lawful and unlawful things) (Source: Ihya-Ulum-Id-Din by Imam Ghazzali (r.a.) Revival of Religious Learnings- English Translation by Fazlul Karim Publisher Darul-Ishaat Karachi Pakistan) Rasulullah (sallallaho alaihe wasallam) said : It is compulsory on every Muslim to seek lawful earnings. He termed this compulsory subject as a thing of wisdom for a wise man out of other compulsory things. Lawful things are clear and unlawful things are also clear. between these two , there are doubtful things which are not clear and difficult to know. All things are limited within these three things. MERITS OF LAWFUL EARNINGS AND CONDEMNATION OF UNLAWFUL In Holy Quran Allah says: Eat of the good things and do good deeds- 2:168. Allah ordered for eating good things before doing good deeds. The object of this order is eating of lawful things. Don't eat properties of one another unjustly-2:188. O believers, fear Allah and give up what remains of interest (usury) if you are believes-2.278. If you do not do it, then be prepared to fight with Allah and His Prophet-2:289. Then He says : If you repent, then for you is the capital. Then He said: Those who turn away from that are the inmates of Hell. They will abide therein. Answer: 459 23 May, 2007 (Fatwa: 562/J) Four rakat sunnah before Isha is proved from Hadith, but the Prophet (SAWS) did not pray it regularly; therefore it is Ghair Muakkadah (not necessary to offer but better): Úä ÚÈÏ Çááøóåö Èä ãõÛóÝøóáò ÞÇá ÞÇá ÇáäÈí Õáی ÇááÀ ÚáیÀ æ Óáã Èíä ßá ÃóÐóÇäóíúäö ÕóáóÇÉñ Èíä ßá ÃóÐóÇäóíúäö ÕóáóÇÉñ Ëõãøó ÞÇá Ýí ÇáËøóÇáöËóÉö áöãóäú ÔóÇÁó (ÑæÇÀ ÇáÈÎÇÑí Ýí ÕÍیÍÀ 1/87¡ ÐÇ Ýí ÇÚáÇÁ ÇáÓää 7/16¡ æÞÇá ÇáÔÇãí Ýí ãäÍÉ ÇáÎÇáÞ Úáی ÇáÈÍÑ ÇáÑÇÆÞ 2/88,89: äÞá Ýí ÇáÇÎÊÈÇÑ Úä ÚÇÆÔÉ ÑÖی ÇááÀ ÚäªÇ ÇäÀ ÚáیÀ ÇáÕáÇÉ æÇáÓáÇã Çä یÕáی ÞÈá ÇáÚÔÇÁ ÇÑÈÚÇð Ëã یÕáی ÈÚ컂 Ëã یÖØÌÚ Çª æ äÞáÀ ÚäÀ ÇیÖÇð Ýí ÇãÏÇÏ ÇáÝÊÇÍ Ëã ÞÇá: æ ÐÑ Ýí ÇáãÍیØ Çä ÊØæÚ ÞÈá ÇáÚÕÑ ÈÇÑÈÚ æ ÞÈá ÇáÚÔÇÁ ÈÇÑÈÚ ÝÍÓä áÇä ÇáäÈی Õáی ÇááÀ ÚáیÀ æÓáã áã یæÇÙÈ ÚáیªÇ۔ Ǫ۔ and Allah (Subhana Wa Ta'ala) Knows Best Darul Ifta, Darul Uloom Deoband My question is: when Namaz and Roza are Farz on children (daughter and sons) (2) When the Fajr Salah ends? When the Salah becomes Qaza and when the Qaza should be performed? Answer: 913 28 Jul, 2007 (Fatwa: 1009=743/H) (1) Salah and Sawm (five time prayers & fasting in the month of Ramazan) become obligatory when the girl and boy reach puberty. (2) The time of Fajr Salah ends at sunrise. As the sun rises the time of Fajr comes to an end and Salah becomes Qaza if someone could not perform it. Then, when the rays of the sun spread, nearly 15 minutes after sunrise, the missed Salah can be made up. and Allah (Subhana Wa Ta'ala) Knows Best Darul Ifta, Darul Uloom Deoband According to a Hadith, there are six special amaal of Friday: (1) bathing (2) going early in the mosque (3) going on feet (4) sitting nearer to imam (5) not engaging in nonsense (6) lend one?s ear to khutbah. One who acts upon this Hadith, he has been promised reward of one year nafl salah and nafl fast on every step. Going far for praying Juma salah will bring more rewards. Therefore, it is better for you to go to farther mosque so that you can pray satisfactorily and get more rewards. - Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Search.
Bismillah [IslamCity] "Muslims" joining in Christmas and other celebrations. Is there any daleel from the Quran and Sunnah that I can present to them to show that these are indeed very sinful practice
Question: I see many "Muslims" joining in Christmas and other celebrations. Is there any daleel from the Quran and Sunnah that I can present to them to show that these are indeed very sinful practices?. Answer: Praise be to Allaah. It is not permissible to join in the kaafir festivals for the following reasons: Firstly: because this entails imitating or resembling them, and Whoever imitates a people is one of them. (Narrated by Abu Dawood). This is a serious warning. Abd-Allaah ibn al-Aas said: Whoever lives in the land of the mushrikeen and celebrates their Nawrooz (New Year) and their Mahrajaan (festivals), and imitates them until he dies, he will be a loser on the Day of Resurrection. Secondly: taking part in their festivals is a kind of befriending them and showing love for them. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): O you who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians as Awliyaa (friends, protectors, helpers), they are but Awliyaa of each other. And if any amongst you takes them (as Awliyaa), then surely, he is one of them [al-Maaidah 5:51] O you who believe! Take not My enemies and your enemies (i.e. disbelievers and polytheists) as friends, showing affection towards them [al-Mumtahanah 60:1] Thirdly: festivals are the matter of religion and beliefs, not the matter of worldly customs, as is indicated by the hadeeth: Every nation has its Eid, and this is our Eid. Their Eid or festival reflects their corrupt beliefs of Kufr and Shirk. Fourthly: And those who do not witness falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass it by with dignity [al-Furqaan 25:72 interpretation of the meaning]. The scholars interpreted this aayah was referring to the festivals of the mushrikeen. It is not permissible to give any of them cards for their festivals, or to sell them cards or any of the other things they need for their festivals such as lights, trees or food including turkey, candy canes, etc. - Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
