Otherwise, the domain directory is inside glassfish/domains/domain1 either applications or autodeploy subdirectory if you deploy by hand. As explained in the javaeetutorial5, you should create a build.properties file inside bp-project, based on build.properties.sample. In it, you set what is required (it is explained in the file itself). The file where the password is noted is common/admin-password.txt (adapt it to your system, I'm on a Mac). If you hava not changed the password of the Glassfish server, it is adminadmin. Edward, post on the forum if you want an answer. That said. Just create a new J2EE application from the samples in NetBeans (a full one as the one in the javaee tutorial). It will activate all that is needed. Then, normally you could see the web.xml file right. If not, there is something broken in your NetBeans installation and I don't know what. If you can see it correctly, mimic the various configurations files you see in the javaee application and transpose them in the tutorial, it should work. At least, I've done the exercises from the tutorial without any problems, except those ones which are specific to javaee5. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Java EE (J2EE) Programming with Passion!" group. Do you check the jdk/j2ee version, it should be 1.4. I've not tried them with NetBeans 6.8, just with NetBeans 6.5.1, and 6.7.1 so I cannot say for sure. Check if you have samples in NetBeans (create a new project and click on samples (or maybe examples) as category), there should be some project with tomcat. If you succeed in building those samples, then you may compare with diff (or any other similar command line tool or graphical one) the differences between project, especially project properties, build.xml and the like. Then hacking a bit, you should probably succeed in running the JSPExamples. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Java EE (J2EE) Programming with Passion!" group. [java ee programming] Re: NetBeans 6.8 / JSE6 / JEE6
I wonder if I have been explicit enough. So to allow another page than the index.jsp, or index.html files (default) to be the welcome file, you may proceed as follows: 1 - When creating the servlet, check the Add information to deployment descriptor (web.xml) in the second panel of the servlet creation named Configure Servlet Deployment This will creates a web.xml, which will takes the information from what you have entered. Note that this does not impede to have annotations. It will eventually override annotations if you specify values different from the ones in annotations. Also it will override the default values - that is what we do here: overriding the default index.jsp/index.html. See section 2 - Create another jsp file, say myOwnJSP.jsp 3 - Add to the web.xml the corresponding fragment to override the default value for welcome list: MyOwnJSP.jsp 4 - Run and Enjoy! But you may also add it manually of course. If you want only to have the welcome file in it, proceed as follows: 1. Create the servlet without checking the Add information to deployment descriptor (web.xml) 2. Create a web.xml document with New->Other->Standard Web Deployment Descriptor by right-clicking on WEB-INF directory 3. Give it the name web.xml 4. Click on Pages in the newly created web.xml 5. Click on Browse at the right end of the Welcome Files field, expand the Web Pages folder, click on the jsp you want as welcome file and click OK. You will then have a 3.0 version of the web.xml file.
