[JAWS-Users] getting rid of the top and boddem of windo message in OE Using Jaws 7.0
Hi all. I asked this question earlier today on some of these lists. I did get a ancer but there is one problem. The problem is that I can't seem to do all of the steps that are listed in the instructions to tern off the top of window and bottom of window and alert thing in jaws. The reason for this is because it is talking about jaws 8.0 and not 7.0 witch is the one that I have. I can't seem to do the following step in the instructions 6. Locate the Default.jcf file. I go and do that 8. Look for the line containing: [options] but I can't find the word. Can some one please help me out? What is happening is that I want to get rid of that stupid ding sound when you get to the top or bottom of a window or in OE. By doing this I am hoping to stop it saying top of window and bottom of window when I am some times arrowing through the messages in OE Jaws will say top of window and bottom of window and then that is it it won't say anything elts there for forcing me to un load jaws and then re load jaws. Some times when this happens and I re load jaws all that jaws will do after this is just make that stupid ding sound and that is it. I find this personally quite annoying. Many thanks for any help that any one can help me with. from Mich Verrier from New Liskeard Ontario Canada. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: http://www.jaws-users.com Address for the list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/jaws-users-list%40googlegroups.com/ To post to this group, send email to jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Use the following form in order to contact the management team http://www.jaws-users.com/managers.php -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---

[JAWS-Users] Strainge Jaws Ishu
Hi all. I am using jaws 7.0 and Windows xp. I have been noticing some strange things over the last few days with jaws. The first few have been happening for quite a wile now and the last one just started happening a few days back. What happens is some times when I am in OE and am arrowing down through the message Jaws won't read the message. Then some times it will just stop entirely for no reason. Be for this happens though I hear a ping sound. Another thing that has been happening is that when I am going through in OE Jaws will say top of window and bottom of window and not read the messages in-between I know when it does this when i press enter on a message then deleat and then it will oapin another message and it will say that that message is from the above person when it wasn't and it is a new message all together. Then when I go to re start jaws be for closing jaws there will be a short little gap when it is saying between when it says un loading jaws in-between saying that there is a short gap and then I say yes. After re loading jaws it will come back up but then everything that I hit every key will make a pingging sound. I will then re start the pc. Some time though after re starting the PC It will again exhibit the above symptoms. It some times will happen 3 or 4 times with the top of window and boddem of window stuff in OE and the pingging sounds. When it does the Pingging sounds though all jaws will say is un red and some times it woant even do that it will just make a pingging sound. Needless to say it has been becoming quite annoying. Any Suggestions on what I might do about this? Other then all this jaws is working quite fine. I have how ever been thinking of doing a repair on jaws to see weather that fix's things. I look forward to your feedback. from Mich Verrier from New Liskeard Ontario Canada.

The, %temp% command will delete the temp files in the root directory. It doesn't remove the Windows temp files or the Internet temp files. As for the cookies, that is up to you whether you want to delete them or not. Deleting them won't do anything to enhance the performance of your PC. I will make them a regular part of my monthly computer maintenance routine. Is cleaning out the temp files the same as deleting temporary Internet files? If it is not, how would I do that? Also I would like to know about cookies, what are they, should they be deleted, and if so how often should I delete them? I hope that I haven't asked too many questions here, but I would like to keep my computer running smoothly. Thanks again! Take care, Lisa - Original Message - From: Denny Huff To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, April 10, 2007 2:59 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Re: Question about computer maintenance Lisa, You can perform 3 of the tasks mentioned. 1. Check Disk Go to run and type in, chkdsk /f (drive letter): and press enter. Note the colon after the drive letter. Unlike running a check disk on your C drive, you won't need to reboot for this to perform. 2. Scan Disk Per form the scan disk just as you would on the C drive, but of course highlighting the drive you want to scan as opposed to the C drive. Then just follow the instructions as you would for the C drive. Again, you won't have to reboot for this to run. 3. Defrag Perform as you would for the C drive but again, highlight the drive you want to defrag. One more step that I didn't include in those instructions is cleaning up the temp files. This should be performed on the C drive. Close all applications with the exception of Jaws. Go to run and type in: %temp% and press enter. Note the percent sign before and after temp. Press enter. This will bring up a list of temp files that you can delete. Do a control A to select all. Now do a shift delete and say yes to, are you sure you want to delete these items? If it fails to delete some items, make sure all of your applications are closed and try again. When finished, do an alt f4 to close. I thought that maybe I should follow the same directions for a defrag only on my external harddrive. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! The fact is, Mich, you'll have to find out the settings for the game you're playing, and see if you can disable the unload Jaws command from the settings, if that is even available. The fact is, although you can put Jaws to sleep when you load the game, the game will still automatically unload Jaws. The only way I can see around this issue is if you are the one unloading Jaws yourself instead of the game. On the other hand, if the game is made with the blind in mind, then there should be a setting you can configure that will allow you to disable that feature. Mind you, I said there should be a way to disable that feature. That does not, I repeat, that does not mean that you'll be able to do that. If you aren't able to do that on your own, I suggest you send off an e-mail to the creators of the game to see if they have any solutions. It is the 3rd key to the right of your spacebar. 4. arrow up 1 time or press the letter r to go to the properties and press enter. 5. Tab until you hear the words short cut 6. just press the letter j. The alt and control are automatically in place for you. You may want to tab away and then shift tab to make sure the letter stays there. 7. Tab to the ok and press the enter key. This should set up that hotkey for Jaws. I apologize if this is off topic for this list but I thought that I would give this list a try since I have mailed a few other lists and gotten no responses as of yet. Here's the deal. I have 2 versions of goldwave on my pc right now and they are goldwave v 5.12 and v5.14. Now I would like to know a few things 1 what version should I keep and what one should I remove? and 2 I have 2 different sets of scripts for goldwave and they are goldwave5.13 scripts for jaws5.zip and goldwave 21.zip I got all of these scripts from the jfw lite programs page. My last and final question is where do I install these scripts? right now I have them both in the jaws.enu folder I would also like to know how to set up the conversion thing in goldwave for batch processing because right now all jaws says is convert files to this format and it doesn't read the format it just says check box not checked. I think I might be missing the lame.dll mp3 encoder file thing. I don't know where I would be able to get that and what to do with it after I downloaded it. In short I need some help with all of this. If some one from hear could possibly e male me off list and possibly give me some help with this that would be grate. I am using jaws 7.0 and windows xp if that helps any. many thanks. from Mich Verrier from New Liskeard Ontario Canada. PS you can e male me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] I hope to hear back from some one soon. > --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: http://www.jaws-users.com Address for the list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/jaws-users-list%40googlegroups.com/ Address to contact the management team: [EMAIL PROTECTED] You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "JAWS Users List" group.
