[JAWS-Users] JAWS 11 OE reading percentages

2009-10-24 Thread Vicki
Sorry if this was discussed earlier and I missed it. I've just installed
JAWS 11, and when I'm in Outlook Express, it reads the name of my filters,
but after each filter with either read or unread messages in it, it will say
the name of the filter and then say 100%. If there are unread messages, it
will read name of filter, 100% and then how many messages are unread in that
filter. It will not read the percentages if the filter is completely empty.
How can I get it to stop saying the 100%? I've looked through the OE
configuration manager, but I'm not sure what to change since it's somewhat
different than JAWS 9. Thanks.

Hello all. I'm running Vista on an Acer laptop and jaws 11. Today, I
installed a SB live external. I directed all computer sounds to the sb
live

and the jaws speech and sounds to the real tech that is built into the
laptop. Nothing spectacular there, however, I have noticed that since
doing

this some of the lag in the computer, and a lot of jaws sluggishness has
gone away. I'm wondering if this is a normal result of having a dedicated
sound card for jaws, or if it's more something to do with the
configuration

of my computer. What ever the end result is, it's awesome.

If you go to the Help menu of JAWS and hit enter, you then down-arrow to,
Check for Updates and hit enter. You then hit the spacebar on the item
which will probably be at the top and says security update for JAWS
11.0.734. After you check it, you have to tab over to ok and hit the
spacebar. It will then start to download update with the clicking sound.
You will have two more OK buttons, the last one being to restart your
computer.

Hi Vicki,

 1. While in Outlook Express press Insert + V for Jaws options.
2. Press the letter F until you land on Focus loss announcement.
3. If this is off, press the space bar to turn it on, then press enter to
get out of Jaws options. This is what I did to stop Jaws from saying 100%
every time I arrowed to a different folder. Hope this helps. Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 11 security update

2009-10-24 Thread Eric Damery
Hi List,

Just to clarify, if you have downloaded and installed the JAWS 11 prior to
October 23rd at 2:30 PM EST, then you can check for updates in the Help Menu
now, and you can get this update in that fashion. If you're not sure you need
it, you can just verify the version of JAWS you have installed now in the about
box, from the Help menu also.

The current relase with the security update included, is 11.0.734 which is also
the only version available on the Download page now. So, if you install from
the web today for the first time, you are all set. Also, I wanted to let you
all know that the DVD that is going to be shipping has been delayed a few days
to make certain it contains this newer build which contains the Security
update. The SMA shipments will start to go out by Thursday, October 29 once
they clear our testing lab and complete the production process. So anyone who
is installing from the DVD on 32 bit or 64 bit Windows should continue to check
for updates as always, but I wanted to be clear that the security update is
already included on your DVD.

because it was causing some focus issues. other than that though, I haven't
had any problems. Have run JAWS 8, 9, 10 and now 11 on Vista home premium.

Hi List,

Just to clarify, if you have downloaded and installed the JAWS 11 prior to
October 23rd at 2:30 PM EST, then you can check for updates in the Help
Menu now, and you can get this update in that fashion. If you're not sure
you need it, you can just verify the version of JAWS you have installed
now in the about box, from the Help menu also.

The current relase with the security update included, is 11.0.734 which is
also the only version available on the Download page now. So, if you
install from the web today for the first time, you are all set. Also, I
wanted to let you all know that the DVD that is going to be shipping has
been delayed a few days to make certain it contains this newer build which
contains the Security update. The SMA shipments will start to go out by
Thursday, October 29 once they clear our testing lab and complete the
production process. So anyone who is installing from the DVD on 32 bit or
64 bit Windows should continue to check for updates as always, but I
wanted to be clear that the security update is already included on your
DVD.

You will have two more OK buttons, the last one being to restart your
computer.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 11, Windows7, and Email Clients

2009-10-24 Thread Brian Lee

Hi Vicky,

You can do the following to have Outlook 2007 go to the inbox each time it
starts:

1. Open Outlook 2007.
2. use CTRL+1 to move to the inbox.
3. Press Alt+T to bring up the tools menu.
4. Press the letter o to bring up the options dialog box.
5. Use CTRL+tab key until JAWS says Other page.
6. use tab key to the advanced options button and press spacebar.
7. Focus should be in a read-only box. If JAWS says browse dot dot dot
then press spacebar. If the browse button isn't announced then use tab key
until you find it and press spacebar.
8. Focus will be in a list of folders. Find the inbox choice by using up
or down arrow keys.

9. Use the tab key to move to the OK button and press enter key.
10. use tab key in the subsequent dialog boxes to the OK button and use
spacebar on the button each time.

The procedure for importing messages into Outlook from Outlook Express is
slightly different for when Outlook Express is on the same computer than if
it is on a different computer. The following steps are for if your copy of
Outlook Express and Outlook 2007 are on the same computer. If you need
steps for moving messages from Outlook Express to Outlook 2007 on a
different computer then I can send you the steps to follow. My Email
address is at the bottom of this message.

When Outlook and Outlook Express are installed on the same computer:

1. While in the inbox of Outlook 2007 go into the file menu by using
Alt+F.,

2. use down arrow to the import and export choice and press enter key.
3. Use up or down arrow key in the list of choices and press enter key on
the import Internet Mail and Addresses choice.

4. Use tab key to the next button and press enter key.
5. In the list of choices that appears use down arrow key until outlook
Express 4x, 5x, 6x or Windows Mail is selected.
6. use tab key to the first checkbox, which should be for importing mail.
It should be checked if you want to import messages. Use spacebar to check
or to remove the checkmark from the choice.
7. use tab key again to the import address book choice and if you do not
want to import addresses then press spacebar to remove the checkmark.

8. Use tab key to the finished button and press enter key.

Take care.

Hi Vicky,

I want to make a small correction to my earlier message. This applies to
number 3 in the steps for importing messages from Outlook Express into
Outlook 2007. You do not have to press enter key on the import Internet
mail and addresses choice. Simply select it by using up or down arrow key
and then use tab to the next button. Number 3 of the steps should be
simply selecting the choice and then step 4 is for the next button. I
hope this wasn't too confusing, but feel free to Email me if it isn't clear
enough.

Take care.

just purchase the email client for just 80 bucks. There are a few
adjustments that need to be made to make Jaws work write, but after that

Hello all. This question is probably better asked in the

For those who are currently running Windows7, what email client are you

You have to set your default sound card for your computer sounds and then if
you are using jaws 10 or 11, do the following.

press insert j for the jaws menu.
press u for utilities.
Press o for sound cards.
Now arrow down to the sound card that you want jaws to use and press enter
on it.

Bingo, You now have it set to use it's own sound card.

The answer there is, you got all the stuff that works the sound card to
one source. yes, that lets jaws work better. your box will run much nicer
to, because the only thing using ram now is jaws. Built in stuff eats at
ram, because they give it none of its own. your external card had memorey
so works just fine to make sound good.

So anyone who is installing from the DVD on 32 bit or
64 bit Windows should continue to check for updates as always, but I
wanted to be clear that the security update is already included on your
DVD.

If you go to the Help menu of JAWS and hit enter, you then down-arrow to,
Check for Updates and hit enter. You then hit the spacebar on the item
which will probably be at the top and says security update for JAWS
11.0.734. After you check it, you have to tab over to ok and hit the

You will have two more OK buttons, the last one being to restart your

[JAWS-Users] MSE question

2009-10-24 Thread Silly Goose
I am using the MSE virus protection from Microsoft with Jaws 9 and Windows
XP. I can get it to run a scan and if I don't close the window I can see
the results if I don't wait too long. So far all results have found
nothing.
But sometimes when I set it to run a full scan when I come back and it has
finished the window is gone. My question is how can I get it to show me a
history of scans completed previously.
I can't seem to find the right choices with Jaws.
I set it to run a scan every evening at 8:00 p.m. but can never find if it
did or where the results would be.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Finally, I just tried it with the http link and the download wnet through

It seems to work fine for me as well although my turtle
beach crackles every

once in a while but to be fair it did that some times when
it was the only
sound card.

That is kind of the thought process I was thinking, but
wanted to get a second opinion on my thoughts because they
aren't always right.

The answer there is, you got all the stuff that works the
sound card to one source. yes, that lets jaws work better.
your box will run much nicer to, because the only thing
using ram now is jaws. Built in stuff eats at ram, because
they give it none of its own. your external card had memorey
so works just fine to make sound good.

having a
dedicated sound card for jaws, or if it's more something to
do with the

it's
awesome.

Re: [JAWS-Users] MSE question

2009-10-24 Thread Gerald Levy

MSE does not maintain a log of previous scan results. However, you can
check the History page to see if any viruses or other malware has been
detected. To do this, tab to the Home button, right arrow to the History
button and use the JAWS cursor to read the page. If no malicious threats
are listed, then all previous scans have been clean.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] MSE question

Re: [JAWS-Users] Mazimising a window

2009-10-24 Thread David Griffith
There is a way of setting up web pages to open maximised which I found in
Google some time ago. It cannot be done without sight though as it involved
using the mouse with the window controls symbols at the top right of the IE
window. It is a complicated sequence of maximising with the mouse and
closing the window in a certain sequence with I think the control key and
mouse click involved.
You could try to Google this and get a sighted friend to help. However I
use a small utility called autosizer which sorts out all these sorts of
problems. Although it sits in the system tray it does not appear to take up
any significant resources. I use it fine under XP but I am not sure if it
works under Vista. It is a very good utility.

HI

I have created a destop icon shortcut for a site that I use regulary but I
cannot get the site to open maximised, any ideas how I can achieve this ? I
have right clicked on the desktop icon and viewed properties and there is no
option to maximised like I have seen on other icons.
